      @@ameenabedrabbo4147 you mean suzie? and also, it is mentioned that although she is mater Suspiriorum, that part of her laid in a dream state, dormant until the climax of the movie. Everything she did was in a trance, half in half out. She slowly gained lucidity during her time at Markos, but she didn't know everything yet, or realize what exactly she was doing. Her transformation is gradual, and since this is fairly early on in her stay at Markos, she's probably not aware of the extent of that dance. She may feel power, but she doesn't know where it's coming from and what it's doing.

    Tbh the worst part about this is Olga’s cries of pain, and how she vomits and urinates herself because of how much pain she was in. The prosthetics, the acting, and the stunning choreography along with Thom Yorke’s instrumentals make this scene so hauntingly beautiful. A truly stunning film.
    Edit: One thing I also noticed was how dull this remake is compared to the original, which is known for it’s bright colors. I thought that was an interesting change

      I think technically they were all dead, the witches just kept them sentient, so they were rotting and broken but could still feel/breathe, etc... Kind of like how in the original Helena Markos says, “You’re going to meet the living dead now!” Also notice how much Olga and Patricia’s bodies have decayed when the final ritual happens. When they ask for death from Mother Suspiriorum I think it’s just them being like “let me rest in peace.”

    This scene has stuck with me due to Olga's reactions. The way how she had to endure the slow twisting and breaking of her body was just so nasty. Her peeing made it worse because it just showed how greatly in pain she was. You could feel how she desperately wanted it to stop. What's even worse is that after all of that, she didn't even die. She had to feel those huge hooks pierce her body and get carried around with those.
    (I guess Spoilers about the ending. It's gonna talk about what happens to those evil elder women.)
    I wanted those older women to suffer so badly. The ending really disappointed me because those nasty bitches didn't suffer a slow agonizing death, which they supposedly rightfully deserve. Their death was just instant. I hated it.

      This is a very common problem in modern filmmaking. It first really started to become apparent in the 1990s with shows like Deep Space Nine. If you've ever watched some of those DS9 episodes you would have no doubt became extremely frustrated with the total disregard for on-screen justice to make it into most episodes. Many screenwriters over the past 25 years delight in giving villains cheap deaths, and oftentimes prefer to not give them any deaths at all (this is fine perhaps for the horror genre when done in moderation). But part of the reason this has became so prevalent now is because screenwriters have conditioned audiences into seeing stories where ghosts, demons, and cosmic horrors are portrayed as real and tangible. Witches are now often portrayed as fighting the forces of darkness (True Blood, American Horror Story, The Originals, Harry Potter, etc.), while God, angels, rabbis, and priests are portrayed as powerless charlotons. This has a tremendous collective psychological impact on screenwriters.

Me and my cousin snuck our dab pens into a packed theater but I had bought 4 tickets originally, just couldn't find other people to join in, so me n cuzzo sat next to each, leaving an empty seat on both sides so we could hit up the dab pens in lil puffs lol This scene was intense AF because we dont know atm, but were about to watch Olga literally get bent out of shape & I wasn't prepared to watch her fold like that.. It's because of this scene that I immediately bought the movie the moment it came out on streaming.. True remake that is its story, not just a carbon copy/cheap imitation for a movie studio to do a quick cash grab.

    This film gets a bad rep. The original is one of my favorite horror films of all time. The esthetic of it is what's most spectacular. This "remake" doesn't feel anything like the original. I can see why Dario Argento disliked what Luca did with his vision. But, from a purely cinematic standpoint, this film is brilliant on it's own. It has it's own "soul" which is what all proper films need. Most just want more of the same. I can appreciate this for bring something totally original, using a pre-existing iconic title like Suspiria.
    it's a really interesting piece of underappreciated cinema. Not a movie, this was a film.

    • @brandonparker6696
      @brandonparker6696 3 роки тому +57

      And because of that, we will never get the sequels :'(
      I love the original as well but i feel that they both reflect each other perfectly. Where the original fails the remake succeeds. Vive versa. The original is colorful while this one is drained and depressing. Almost has this flesh color filter throughout the film. I'm glad this one focused on the dancing because the original didn't feel supernatural enough.

    • @Error-tr9ke
      @Error-tr9ke 3 роки тому +34

      Highly agree, although I do prefer the remake for its story and its expansion to the lore of the Three Mothers. The original had the soundtrack and cinematography but I felt it was more on the arthouse vibe rather than horror. The remake is just purely horror. I'd never get critics though, do they really want a shot-for-shot remake (looking at you Lion King 2019)? Or do they want a remake that has its own soul? All in all, I'm quite sad that this may never have any sequel at all.

      This is a pretty clever way of doing a reboot. Instead of doing the exact same thing and referencing the older films, the directors can create something new with the same ideas and experiment something different like this film. I like the idea of 6 acts. I feel as if I'm watching a chapter book.

    • @Newoaf
      @Newoaf 3 роки тому +25

      I'm a fan of the original from an atmospheric standpoint, but I personally think Argento's plots and characters have always been a bit lacking. I think the remake really fleshes out the loose plot of the original, and in that regard, I honestly like it better. It's a different vision, and I think this is an example of how remakes should be done.
