Thanks Cody! Very short, precise and honest video.
This is the future of Sales.. pointing out the negatives of your product/service can increase customer trust and in turn increase buying confidence.
Haha can't hide it man.
Yup he’s right about the seat leaning thing. I thought I was going crazy because it felt like the seat was leaning to the left slightly. 2015 Silverado
This is real! So annoying
Literally the right/passenger side of the truck is HIGHER than the left side! The passenger coil spring is 1/4”-1/2” longer! Measure from the exact center of the rim to the bottom of the fender well! You’ll see
Great video, have a 2017 High Country 6.2L, love this truck. Bought it new and knock on wood no issues
Right on!
@@Cody_Reed SOUNDS like one-in-a million reliability !!
I don’t build them 😂😂😂
Not yet lol
I have a 2001 5.3 work truck with 450,000 plus miles on it.
Yea but the vortecs are bulletproofs but the ecotech not so much
How many transmissions did you put in it And rear ends
@Greg B Exactly, shut it off like I did
The AFM/DOD garbage on those 5.3 engines that causes the lifters to fail is the only complaint I have about them. And the weak transmissions of course.
I bought a 16 Sierra SLE a few years ago. Low miles, not loaded with power options. Hasn't been bad so far. Kept my 97 Silverado short box regular cab 4x4. Can't say the 5.3 is a bad motor but I like the vortec 350 in the 97 better so far. It has 225,000 miles on it and still going strong. The only problem is the rust especially at the doors and the rockers below the doors. Not sure how the newer truck holds up. Hopefully as well as the old one.
The 5.3 was a great motor until GM ruined it with AFM , and now they're just garbage, unless one rebuilds it the way GM should have...
Exactly right that's what I hate about my 2018 Chevy Silverado 5.3 they do make a bypass that you can plug in I'm going to get one
That’s one of the reasons I don’t want to trade in my 2016 LTZ.
@@peterbarry8563 I’m looking at one right now. Have you had transmission issues or high oil consumption issues?
No kidding...all that for an average of MAYBE 1 mpg better gas mileage.
It's a V8. People don't buy them for fuel economy.🙄
@@CannonFodder873 Ended up getting a tundra. Dirt simple. No worries.
I agree with the 5.3 statement all the best v8 they ever made 5.3 best v6 to me is the 4.3
The good ol 4.3 that was in my old chevy astro
Had my 14 Chevy since 15, 2 radiators , 2 condensers and one trans rebuilt with 130k miles
Ouch
Wow yea my dad had to have a rebuilt trans on his too
Just did my condensor and trans. I suspect the radiator is getting close.
Might just keep my 01 silverado for 10 more years. Lol
@@Brian-dh9lp I hear all these story but my 2014 has 327 thousand miles still going and it's used for work so it's load down with 2 tool box's plus pulls a 8000 lb pump and I have a 2019 with 267 thousand
I might have one 20 years from now 🤗
Get into the trades and you will be able to afford it easy, also try mechanics so you know how to fix it after warranties out, I am a mechanic myself and the labour saving is great, parts are always expensive on new stuff though but I expect the price to go down after newer body styles have come and gone down the line
I have a crew cab long bed, the ride is very harsh around town, smooth only on the highway.
Nicholas Livoti Go buy a car then.
Mike M lol 😂
Check tire pressure maybe your overinflated. Start at 40 and take 5 psi out at a time and test it out. I ride mine at 32 psi.
Yea real rough ride 2013 silverado
Thanks For the info . Sun roof was interesting. I thought you're gonna have major things . And it's a categorical quantifiable fact !!! The the 5.3L is the best engine General motors has ever Made. FACT . Good Vibes 🤙🏼P.S. Have had to pull a 5.3L stocker in a junkyard. To replace a blown engine in a Trophy Truck. To finish the BAJA 1000 !!! THAT'S BADASS. LIKE A ROCK ! 💎
6l80e is as reliable as the 4l60e. Good for about a year and a half of regular use. the 8 speed, forget it. Total trash! 6500 ballpark to fix 6 or 8 speed and gm has to reprogram ecm to accept new transmission or it wont work. Im over these trucks. Got a 14 sitting here needing a 6l80......
There 6 speed, 8 speed and new 10 speed are crappy transmissions
I love Chevy more than anything 427 in my 1956 Chevy running 1105 I have had a hell of a lot of 5.3 absolutely fabulous motor but I think the 327 is got it beat I can't figure out for the life of me why 5.3 are 325 cubic inch why did they not push that into the 327
The GM 5.3 V8 is a tremendous engine. Long standing tested and true. Some nit picking perhaps here.
Maybe so, still valid points though!
The 5.3 cylinder deactivation system will cause the lifters to wear out unevenly I run my truck harder to avoid this common issue but if you want to deactivate this go online there is a obd2 plug that changes the engine ecu & disables the cylinder deactivation system that in the long run is worth it because a replacement engine is expensive vs a few cents a mile a engine replacement can cost 6k or more don't nickel & dime your truck you will regret it when you are stranded
@@dac232009 mine has 182,000. Never had an issue with it or any lifter issues in v4 mode.
@@dac232009 I've heard people say this over and over but I have yet to see any proof. I own a Silverado that had the cylinder deactivation. It has over 150,000 miles... no issues with what you described.
As long as these new 5.3's don't have the four oil solenoids for v4 in the Valley cover ill get a used 2018. Those did cause lifter failures in the 2007-2013 models i myself never had a problem. But I know two guys that needed new top ends from lifter failure.
Good point about the driver seat to look out for
Thanks for the info I'm looking for one really appreciate it 🤘
Glad I could help
If you buy one of these trucks, get the Range DOD/DFM disable OBD2 plug in! It's the best $250 you'll spend on your truck!!!
Sounds like solid advice but what exactly is it?
The air conditioner is a nightmare in this trucks. Compressor broke at 44000. Miles.
We just had another one go out on our GMC Acadia
2014 I bought new and I now have 2018 I bought new, both zero issues ...none
how many miles did u put on?
@@919hey 15 to 22k a year
Thank you for the info!! I'm looking at a 2014 Sierra 1500 Z71 with a questionable Carfax, but only 64k miles. I saw this video when doing some research before going back to test drive it. Very helpful 👌🏻 I appreciate it!
Glad I could help!
Ive had mine 3 years and only issues i have had was ac compressor breaking twice
@@rubenescamilla4852 they have bad acs
That’s why both my F150’s didn’t have sunroofs plus they break easy
Thank you I'm looking for one now.
Did you end up getting one yet?

It's surprising that the dealership let's you point out the flaws of this truck.
Have you ran into any of the delphi coils going bad? My wife has a 15 suburban and I have replaced 2 in the last 8 thousand miles? I have been a looking for a 14 or 15 1500 and you mentioned the 5.3 is a great engine. I do agree with that all the way to the coils. lol
All the way to the coils 😂😂😂. I feel like the previous body style had more issues with the coils than the one I’m speaking about in this video. Not uncommon though! Good luck on the truck searching, what package are you looking for?
@@Cody_Reed an lt or lt2 with the max trailering package. I searched a long time to find a suburban with the max trailering package and very happy I found one. I have also been thinking about holding out for the new diesel.
Ok I got a 2017 gmc and the bulb is fine but it blinks fast . How do I fix it ? Any help please. But best motor made by GM was the 350 but even better with the 350 turbo or turbo 400
The 350 is an engine, the turbo 350 aka TH350 and the turbo 400 aka TH400 are transmissions
@@foxcruzin88gt yes I know that how dose not . Maybe I type it wrong . But that would be better in my opinion!
Check your blinker fluid
New subscriber , excellent video nice job bro ✌
I just got a 2014 Sierra 5.3 with bad lifters which is giving low compression. 104k miles on it.
5.3 is a great engine minus the AFM bs. 50/50 chance it will fail.
I don't know that it's quite 50/50 lol. but I do think that it's something to be aware of for sure!
Don’t buy a 2014 Silverado 6.2L Mine has been garage kept, serviced every 5k miles, never abused and occasionally pulls small trailers. I’ve had nothing but problems with the truck. Long story short, the truck has 71,000 miles and has had a history of electrical problems, the truck also has bad misfires. I’ve replaced all 8 fuel injectors, spark plugs, wires, coils, along with a few other things and performed an induction flush. The truck still sounds like hell while idling, check engine light stays on constantly and flashes on cold starts. Here lately the transmission has been acting funny on upshifts! I wish I would have never sold my 2005 Silverado, these new direct injection motors are junk.
Yea seems like there a hit or miss. But people still love em.
Thanks for the help
Great video! I heard windshield wipers were kind of slow too even at its max speed, which could be dangerous if it’s pouring outside..
actually you know, that is a true statement! lol
Wow great video and honesty
If anyone has v4 v8 engine and you want v8 all the time look up range disabler this will fix the problem
How you do that?
Tell us more.
I just got a 2015 with the 5.3. 80,000miles. Everything works fine now but I'm thinking about getting the Range Disabler in an effort to avoid any lifter issues. I haven't seen or heard of one person who used the Disabler and had any valve lifter issues. Is this your experience as well?
Great video!
How about talking about the 8-speed transmission horror stories
Get the dealer to flash out the active fuel management or do it yourself with a tuner. I've heard that solves the issue of tranny shudder.🤷🏻♂️
I know of many.. every one is the same but the end results all vary.
oh wait what about that elephant over there!!!!!!😩 GM AFM and DFM Lifter Failure Class Action Lawsuit 2014-2019
Don't buy!!! AFM just went out on left head.. at 92 k miles - how long before it happens to the other head????4K $$$ later back on the road .. trading it in for a Dodge Cummings diesel..
Did you do it? Just setting yourself up for more dissatisfaction
4.3 is the best very solid engine
Man, I can tell you do actually work at the dealership. I bought a 2014 Sierra, the seat was replaced, and the condenser was as well. The condenser was the reason it was traded in, I got the truck with 64kmi for $23k. I feel like I got a good deal.
I would have traded it in as well. 64k miles and they are already replacing the A/C condenser AND the seat? 64k miles?! I'll pass. I just bought a 2010 Silverado 4.8 V8 with 129k miles for 12k from a dealership and I hope I don't regret it. God Bless!
@@jayb9637 How’s the truck holding up bud any issues? I got a 08 Chevy Silverado extended cab with the 4.8 V8 with 129k miles.
GM should stand behind their Silverado's. With all the money 💰 that they charge for them they shouldn't have this many problems. GM need to better . They had a lot of years to fix these problems but haven't done anything
Thats a pretty low optioned ltz and they did have high country above ltz in 2014
Hey bro don't forget the fuel system, rocker arm and pushrods. I guess starting I. 2014 where high failure items??
I would like to add one more thing they also have this thing called a shake at various speeds and the transmissions are junk
The Chevy Shake!?? What! Yes! This was also a big deal when they switched to the 8speed!
My 09 needed a trans at 60 k
Trans aren't junk. Take care of them, do proper maintenance. My 4l80e in my 04 was at 220,000 with 0 issues when I sold it. My current 2014 with the 6l80e is at 182,000, never had an issue.
Don't forget about that active fuel management system that destroys your engines
Have a 2017 and just recently replaced condenser transmission took a shit at 74000 miles These new designs are like skinny jeans, Gay
haha
I own a Chevy Silverado LTZ 2018 it’s giving me too many problems I’m sick of it 😤
Ugh! That sucks.. what types of problems are you having?
My 07 Avalanche 5.3 285,000 miles. Same engine and tranny, mostly front end & rear end suspension replaced. Wouldn't have a 2011 or newer....crap.
Black penny loafers and white socks, Rock n Roll
Kevin P. Dunn 😂
My 18.. Chevy shake.. Trans is HORRIBLE at 1500rpm.. had trans cooler lines replaced due to leaking at press joint to rubber hose. These trucks are horrible for thw shake from the transmission.
Chevy shake is real.
It's a garbage engine my 2015 silverado 5.3 Dealer Has replace Lifters And the brake vacuum pum And I have 45000 miles I wonder what's gonna happen when a have a 10000.
Tough; Hopefully you have some kind of warranty.
Yes 5.3 is a great motor. It’s the AFM garbage they put on it that ruined it. I had a collapsed lifter on mine also. That and all the problems with electronics and the Chevy shake issue I saw friends and coworkers experience with this new gen of trucks is why I’m now driving an F150.
@@michiganman4398 What engine do you have on you f150 Any problems.
@Wheel bearing At that time I had the diablo tuner and the AFM was disabled and the lifters still failed.
Yeah and? Dodge has the famous “hemi tick” and Ford’s Coyote is having oil burning issues, “flutters,” and ticking also. They are all having these problems. You can thank emissions regulations for killing the reliability. AFM, MDF, cam phasers, all of it is useless junk. But Uncle Sam wants more efficient cars, so who pays for it? The customer.
Mine has 120k miles with decent maintenance I would say haven’t had a problem and with k&n it’s a beauty
No lifters issue?
No although the engine likes to tick and I had to replace the thermostat and censor for the radiator fan because it would sometimes stay on and shut off after like 5min
I got a check engine light on , I went to auto zone to see what the problem is , and it was a O2 oxygen sensor fule . Any suggestions?
Clear the code and move on! If it comes back get a new gas cap
what about the 8 speeds trans might want to bring it up
Yeah this is a big deal. I know that they are terrible but I don't necessarily know why.
In my 2016 my seat sags had it since new and im 6,2 260 so I must of ruined it lol
Thanks bro
what's that intro song you're using?
All of my music comes from Soundstripe.com or Epidemicsound.com
Constant problems with ignition coils
Did you have this issue?
@@Cody_Reed yes
"And guaranteed your money back?! Or a Buick in the back door..."
Is that the only way GM gets sales going for Buick in the US? lol
:58 there was a better one the high country first year they started that trim
oh the seat is uncomfortable , thank you . it also blows lifters ,cams and trannys due to AFM . MIGHT WANT TO MENTION THAT . jeez
5.3 sucks. Would be good if they got rid of fuel metering system. Change cam, lifters before 120k and engine will last. Also change out oil pressure sensor that the idiots put behind intake on rear of engine. Can’t even reach it. Had to take intake off just to replace oil pressure sensor on 2009 Sierra. Replace MAF sensor, both air bag sensors. I’ve been a die hard GM fan all my life. Not any more. GM start building reliable vehicles again and I will come back. Paying 50-60k for a half ton pickup is BS!
Hate to break it to ya man but they all make overpriced junk anymore. Everyone says Toyota is the way to go but my brother in law has had more issues with his than I have with my Ram. It's a crap shoot any way u go in my opinion.

AC condenser is with labor is probably around 1000-1200
I have a 14 Silverado love it except for the transmission I think it's between 2nd and 3rd gear has a little slip General Motors sent out paperwork stated that if you put it in reverse before you take off it gets rid of the air pockets in the transmission that's what's making it slip and it seems to be getting worse I don't want to take it up the GM and hear their b******* please any comments
I forgot to say there's only 47000 miles on it

TheTennesseeTittyTickler I’ve got a whole series coming in the next view weeks! Thanks for the support!
Cody Reed 👍 just subbed. You have an inside view on common repairs & issues
If you stand back and take a really good look at that truck. You notice something incredibly odd. The wheel houses are square. And the tire is round. And that tells you all you need to know about the engineering of that truck. They spent all of their time attempting to put a round Peg, in a square hole.
What a dumb comment
Never buy any thing with 120,000 miles only 2 yearsold , Never
I got a 2014 gmc serria a.d so far its pretty good
How many miles and any major issues i plan on buying one soon???
Good engine but afm lifter failure on lots of these trucks
Not all of them.
Is that all? The Transmission has been known to go out before 120k! The fact that a 2014 lasted that long, is surprising. I would hate to see the history of that trucks mechanical issues and how many owners by this time.

What about the 2018 2500s
Here’s a tip.. Save yourself the headache and stay away from GM. AFM in these trucks ultimately just ruins them in time.
The 5.3 is the best engine? Nah. The 350 sbc on a 4 barrel was the best motor gm ever made
Chandler Thoma yes and many more hahahaha
Chandler Thoma well that’s your opinion. 350sbc is the best General Motors ever made.
I had a 350ci, great engine. Had it rebuilt around 110K. Put 190K on the original Auto tranny, sold it, and it was still shifting smoothly.
Not true, LS motors and these motors in this truck, LT (gen 5), are stronger than a 350. No one swaps an old 350 into a vehicle anymore when an LS or LT motor offer 10x what the 350 did.
NvDubs250 well the old 350s where in many applications way before the ls motors ever came out
I would pass on any sun roofed vehicle. They simply cause more problems than they solve. They always have and likely always will.
In four years with a o6 I learned: what other vehicle has brake lines rust out and it's not a recent or single year fail!
I own a 2015 Chevy Silverado 5.3 only has 60,000 miles, rough engine idle, transmission hard shifts hard.
Same problem here! Only with a 2014 6.2L 70k miles. I get a cylinder 3 misfire and a cold start rough idle code every time. Replaced plugs, wires, coils, performed an induction flush didn’t work. So I replaced all 8 fuel injectors and still the problem still didn’t go away!
I’ve got a 2017 Silverado 5.3 160,300 miles still going strong lumpy engine idle though and check engine light comes and goes for 219b air/fuel ratio imbalance bank 2.
Hunter Dailey can you explain (rough engine idle ) ? I didn't get it
K MYSTERIOUS it’s one of the codes the truck throws, P050D cold start rough idle, along with a misfire code. The truck does idle rough and shakes during cold starts
Hunter Dailey oh I get it,I have no idea,i own sierra 15 single cab with 100k miles no problems
How about the tik
