Hey! High school student here. Its very interesting to see how your life goes in this video. I'm a grade 12 student looking to get into engineering and this helped me gain a lot of insight on how my days will be going. Keep on making videos like this!
I have been considering doing electrical engineering as I am now completing my grade 12. So you have been my motive and I am about to take a full decision
Hey Avery! Loving the vlogs - as an incoming UBC Eng student, i'm looking to get prepared for the coming school year. I just have a quick question regarding laptops. I notice between other videos you switch between a Mac and a Windows computer, and I was just wondering if in your opinion you think its advisable to have two laptops such as yourself. (I only have a Mac right now.)
I would highly recommend having a Windows laptop because there's a lot of software that you'll use that just isn't compatible with Macs. The MacBook Pro I'm using is mainly for my video editing
Hey Avery, great content - your discipline of consistently waking up at 5am is inspiring. How much do you typically study on weekends, and how has your workload changed as you've moved into core EE classes?
Thanks for watching! On weekends, I typically don't get much work done because I usually have work on Saturdays and then a design team meeting on Sundays (partly why I try to get as much work done as possible during the week on campus). Even though we technically have "less" courses this semester, our core EE classes are definitely a lot more demanding than previous classes
Hello! Fellow 2nd year engg student here, but at a different Canadian uni. Good to see that the suffering is more or less universal regardless of where you're attending lol. I'm surprised that you can find time to film, script, and edit these pretty quickly - I've tried doing something similar myself and it took way longer than I thought. How long do you think the whole process of making and editing this vlog took, and what editing software do you use?
These vlogs are always an exception in terms of how fast I'm able to get them out because I always edit them during our midterm breaks during each semester. Scripting took about a full day to write (the script was 4400+ words lol), voiceover recordings took a few hours, and editing (I use DaVinci Resolve) took about 12 hours in total. I would never be able to do these consistently unless there were no classes every other week LOL Thanks for watching, and good luck with your engineering studies!
b4 u mentioned it, i could already tell the elec 281 prof wouldnt be as good. cant even explain why, i guess its my pattern recognition or my instincts.
@@AveryCheng Thanks for the reply, so what devices do you recommend I get, I was considering trying to sell or trade in the MacBook in order to get something like a surface pro.
Update: midterm marks came out. My raw score was 45% (average was 49%), scaled score was 56% (scaled average was 60%). So, safe to say it was pretty bad for me 💀
Thx for explaining the next 291 project because I did not listen in class
I still don't know what exactly I'm supposed to do lol

I am second year electrical engineering and i truly enjoy your videos, would you please share your circuit analysis notes
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I don't share my notes with others, I hope you understand.
Yeah 🎉
Hi i’m looking to study elec engineering this year and own a m1 macbook air. Would this be suitable for uni work? Own a PC at home too
General answer is no, but it's heavily dependent on the courses that you'll take
@@AveryCheng Thanks for the reply, so what devices do you recommend I get, I was considering trying to sell or trade in the MacBook in order to get something like a surface pro.
Any Windows laptop is good, as long as it works and you're happy with it
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO🎉🎉🎉🎉
I wanna see an eng phys vlog from u

What’s the professors name? Who has UA-cam videos on electronics.
His name is Dr. Luis Linares, but his UA-cam channel's name is "rolinychupetin"
What’d you end up getting on the midterm?
Hasn't been marked yet, but I'm hoping for 30% after scaling 🙏
Update: midterm marks came out. My raw score was 45% (average was 49%), scaled score was 56% (scaled average was 60%). So, safe to say it was pretty bad for me 💀
