Brother, very nice premium review just like the Spectre itself! Loved everything in the video and that's exactly how I felt after using it for 2 months. Good thing is I don't have all the problems you mentioned like Speaker and palm rejection. Mine is absolutely flawless. I did make sure to upgrade to the latest driver and Windows 24H2. I'm lucky to live in California and have 10+ bestbuys within driving distance. Guess how much I banked this bad boy? $600 bucks! The Ultra7155H 16G 1T version from open box deals during Black friday. I'm still in shock after 2 months to be honest. That night I just couldn't believe my eyes about the Specs on this deal. It was on huge sale from $1600 to $1150 I believe, then I saw Openbox for half the price??? Like what in the heck is going on. The overall build and experience rivals MacB Pro. I did some basic online cpu silver bench and GPU bench, CPU is beating MBP base model, GPU is a little behind. This openbox only had 2 battery life cycles on it, brand new lol, someone just opened the seal and returned basically. Windows laptop is really catching up now, the new Intel Ultra + Intel Arc improved so much from battery efficiency to graphics for gaming, I believe the 256V next generation intel ultra is going to add battery life even more. I mean with these sub $800 flagship openbox laptops, anything else is not even close to competition in the market. Last week, I scored another openbox Mac Mini M2 base model for $245, this is like day light robbery. U.S. is a wonderful place.
Was a BUCS major at UBC, graduated 2021 - great vlog, keep going - relatable the pain of labs and debugging haha
Name of your I pad???
It's an 11" M1 iPad Pro
totally agree. mine is completely done after 1,5 yeas work! :(
This was an insightful and detailed review, helped me make a decision
Glad it helped!
What is the model number of your calculator please tell me I am also interested in engineering Please
TI-84 Plus CE
@AveryCheng Thanks
hello... am thinking of doing electrical engineering... in robotics engineering field, would u suggest me buying macbook pro m4 ? for this ?
All depends on what software you will be using in your studies. If you can connect with an academic advisor or a current student/alumni about what software you will need to use, that will help you narrow down whether or not you'll be able to use a MacBook or not.
@@AveryCheng thank you sir for helping me out, i was confused with this
Glad I could help!
I'm also an EE student. That's all. Thank you.
That's all I need to know LOL
@AveryCheng hahaha, I just don't want to exposed any information about my current situation 😂😂 😂
Completely understandable 🫡
personally i got an accessory as u said no usb-c converter only pen include my laptop spec was Core ultra 7 with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD :)
Thanks for sharing!
Could you see the i5 (rather than 7) still being worth it?
It could be worth it if it's on sale and you're only doing light tasks with your laptop
What annoys me the most is not the courses of EE is being hardcore as hell, but there are dumb required humanities studies. I am really bored about writing dumb ass articles on social sciences. When the signal and systems level of courses are waiting at the corner with a disastrous exam that will surely dominate you, the situation becomes a social study itself.
LMAO I feel you, philosophy was NOT it when I took it...
HELLL NAHH I TOOK PHYS 170 AND HAD 7-15 HW QUESTIONS PER WEEK WHICH RAILED ME SOO HARD 5 HOURS PER WEEK IT WAS SO BAD EVEN THO I GOT AN A- IN THE COURSE
Yup, there's definitely a discrepancy in the workload between first and second semester for PHYS 170
Now the exams take more parts of the total grades: Mid1 15%, Mid2 20%, and Final 45%, thats 80% out of 100... Its gonna be so hard for me TAT
That's actually slightly less than what I had (17%, 17%, 48%, totaling 82%)
Hi Avery, just finished term 1. My plan for the second term is to move math152 to summer session since 152 and apsc160 are the only two courses that are available. Is this a bad idea? will it effect my understanding for phys 170 a lot? Awesome video man🎉
You'll have to spend a bit of time at the beginning of the course to understand concepts such as matrices, vectors, dot products, cross products, and solving systems of equations, as they are fundamental to solving the problems in PHYS 170. They will be briefly glossed over at the beginning of the course since they are assuming you will be learning it concurrently in MATH 152.
Is the office work from your summer internship since you are in college?
"Office work" for me mostly means doing school stuff with Microsoft Office or the G Suite of apps. Apologies if the wording made it seem otherwise
from your videos i saw how you keep your schedules and workloads organized, i just wanna ask if you can make a video about how you handle or how you organize your assignments, quizzes, exams and overall schedule for the day as an EE student? i think it would be amazing...
It's nothing special really, but I'll add it to my video ideas list!
your vlog looks really relatable, although im in another country taking EE course, i must say that the approach from here is very different yet i can agree that sometimes I CAN'T MAKE ANY SENSE OF THE LESSONS AT ALL LOL
i also loved the cinematic shots and im impressed that even with that kind of schedule, you still managed to do vlogs!
Glad to hear from an ELEC student in another country! I only have the time to make one vlog per semester, but it's always fun when I do so!
@@AveryCheng keep up the spirit! i know one day the time will come that we'll be a great engineer who helps the community :)
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
nice production value, you should really consider a hair cut though. bro needs a life changing fade fr.
Appreciate the feedback! I'm just trying out different styles at the moment!
nah he has the front double taper he’s chilling
Great laptop
It really is!
Thank you for the informative video! I’ll be getting the exact same model since I’m pursuing Computer/Mechatronics engineering next year.
Thanks for watching! And best of luck to you in your engineering studies next year!
What a perfect EDC!!!! But isn’t it heavy af to carry? 🥵 I had the exact same backpack but because I’m too small physically it felt too heavy 😔
It can get up to around 30+ pounds in weight, but I'm honestly fine with it at this point. Just think of it as strength training for your back and shoulders LOL
@ oh that’s excellent!!
Hey thanks for the video. It was very helpful. My question is relating to an iPhone but not necessarily this video. how do I determine if I need 128 GB of storage or should I pay the extra hundred bucks or whatever it is to get 256?
All depends on what your current storage is, what you're planning on storing on your iPhone, and how long you plan on keeping your iPhone for. If you're reaching the upper limits of the storage on your current phone and you like to take a lot of photos/videos, 256 GB might be best. But if you don't take that many photos and most of your current storage is being taken up by just apps and the iOS software, 128 GB may suffice. Hope that helps!
Ok thanks that is helpful!
starting as ME student here. do you think the 11" iPad Pro is about right for note taking/textbooks. I already have a gaming desktop as my primary computer incase I need to use Solidworks/Fusion CAD
All depends on personal preference in terms of what size you'd want. I prefer the 11" model, but some like the larger screen of the new 13" model.
Very insightful video!!!!
Thank you!!
🎉🎉🎉
🎉🎉🎉
it’s been less than 2 years since i got this laptop and omg it’s so unreliable. no way to predict when the audio would just not play at all. it’s happened in zoom meetings. camera quality is shit and the brightness gets stuck in one place as well. i can’t have this happening in job interviews man
Thanks for sharing your experiences with this laptop! I could imagine that it would be really frustrating for job interviews as someone who is currently in the job search
Hey @averycheng can you please give the exact LEUCHTTURM1917 bullet journal that you use. Thx in advance love you videos ;)
Is chem e a separate thing?
Chemical engineering becomes separate from biological engineering once you reach third-year
Yo Avery love your videos. Can you tell did you do something extra to get into ubc in high school??
if you include the word goon in your personal profile, your chances of getting in go up exponentially
I already have a video up about how I got into UBC, and that will go through all the extracurriculars I talked about in my application!
absolute cinema
powerful words from the skibidi man 🫡
Great video! I love how in depth you go into your uses for each item. Respectfully though, fix the haircut. All the best!
foul 😭😭😭
Thanks for watching! I'm just experimenting with different haircuts at the moment; what kind of haircut do you think would look good for me?
@@AveryCheng try side partition from right or you can moving your hair forward
@@AveryCheng I think the cut you were rocking in your year 1 EDC video suits you better but maybe with a bit more texture. The cut you're rocking right now is quite aggressive and (sorry) a bit tacky. I'd either opt for something like the year 1 or some kind of fade with a buzzed top. I think a fade or taper fade with buzzed top would suit you well.
How do I never miss every year of this. Nice one bro
Glad you enjoy it!
Love you so much

Worse case I’ve ever owned. I have a black apple silicone case for my 15pro and the back is absolutely worn out and it’s only been 8 months. And I baby the thing. I’m not sure if the mag safe charging is wrecking it but for a 85.00 Canadian, it’s brutal and not recommended.
Thank you for your input! I definitely feel your frustration, as I do not think it's worth spending that much for what you get in reality
What pen settings are you using in goodnotes 1:54 here? Your notes look so neat and tidy!
Thanks! I use the 0.25 mm ballpoint pen setting in GoodNotes for my notes

Hey I worked for Dell. Sounds like you have some faulty fans , and with warranty you can get those replaced. That will help that issue.
Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, this laptop has far past warranty and I've already moved on from it
Does it include the Type C hub with HDMI port ?
I don't remember it being in the box
@AveryCheng Alright thanks, well have ordered it so let's see, if i get it, imma let you know for your future vids references
Thanks!
@@AveryCheng Heyy ! Merry Christmas. I checked the packaging and there is no type C hub, i got the charger and the HP Pen only ...
Thanks for getting back to me! I did do some more research, and it seems like it's very inconsistent when it comes to the dongle being included in the box or not. Merry Christmas!
What can $500 buy for photo and video editing?
Not much honestly. I don't really know of many good laptops that will be good for it around that price range
How’s the laptop holding up? Is the slate blue casing showing any wear? I’m leaning towards buying this laptop
So far, it's holding up fine! (*knock on wood*) No signs of wear and tear yet. Once my finals are done in a couple weeks, I'll be making a full review of it!
and it's all over my screen
Wtf 😭
This is so cool to see, as a first electrical engineering student myself at UoFT I could say that UBC is top notch in terms of their engineering program. Was actually thinking about transferring to UBC these videos have sure have been informative.
Glad my videos could help, and it's great to hear from someone at UofT!
