Looks so good, can’t wait for the reveal video of the slat walls. What size plywood did you use for the panels? Does it matter?

Thank you! It doesn't matter what size you use for these panels but I would say get quality plywood. I have one door panel that bowed on me after installing. I got the plywood from the big box store which didn't have good ply layers.

I almost always use Baltic birch plywood from Crosscut Hardwoods here in Seattle. It’s a really great product for making furniture. Fantastic vid…I learned a ton!

I really love your videos, I have been looking for a channel like yours for months now! Super excited and thankful for your content. Is hard to find content for modern designs that go in depth like you do.

I'm so glad you found it helpful! Yes, I think it is hard to find modern and minimalist content. Hope it changes in the woodworking space.

thanks for this interesting (and well shot) video.
Is this technique useable on MDF as well, or do you run into issues such as the mdf sucking up too much contact cement ?
Looking forward to your next videos

Hey, the whole thing looks so amazing. Does you laminate sheet have mirror-like acrylic finish? I have been searching how to bind acrylic laminate sheet to plywood. No sure answer yet. I wanted to use Stylite sheets from SSI North America with their matching edge banding. I have not found anybody who used this product in their DIY project. They typically use press machines to bond the laminate and edge band to MDF. Do you believe acrylic laminate sheets can be bonded to plywood the same way as you did?

I believe you can use a contact cement to apply the sheets. Here is a good resource www.ssinorthamerica.com/ceu-specifying-3dl-components/

Great stuff! Any issues with plywood vs MDF or other substrates? I want to keep weight down and so plywood is preferred, any issues with movement? Thanks!

With plywood you want to get good quality sheets. After 1 year one of the sheets on the far right door that I bought from the big box store bowed. The other doors are perfectly fine and I bought those at a local lumber yard. It would help to apply the laminate on both sides but that will bring up your laminate costs to double.

Great video! From your replies you mentioned you got your formica from Louis and Company. I searched but can't find prices. How much is each sheet? Thanks.

It was around $150 a sheet at the time. They sell many different brands and having a commercial account helps.

I got it from a local distributor. It's Formica so I'm sure there will be some distributors near you.

I got some from Royal Plywood Co. It’s very expensive tho. 4x8 sheet is abt $254. I love it but idk if I would do it on the next project. It’s a lot of work because small human error can ruin the project.
