The craftsmanship on this is just astounding. This isn't just a piece of furniture this is a work of art. Most people will sit at that table and never have any clue how much skill, knowledge, and hard work went into building that.
As a hobby carpenter, I have soooo much appreciation for the amount of work it takes to put these things together. It's the type of thing I would buy because I know I don't have the time around homeschooling and raising kids to go do while my husband works.

As a young man around 40 years ago my father took me to a local lumber jack and horse show in the hills of Appalachia Kentucky. That was when I was introduced to wood turning. It was a treadle style wood lathe with a sapling as in your video. The craftsman was building tables and chairs all from hand tools starting with logs he used no nails, screws, or glue. We watched for hours! I was very impressed! Thank you for reminding me of a great day with my Dad.
That is certainly a beautiful table. So well built and explained. It also brings back memories for me because the bending process was similar to what I did about 20 years ago. A friend of mine taxied his homeuilt aircraft into the side of a hangar door. The rounded wingtip was crushed. He and I made a template from the opposite wing and flipped it over to make a pattern. We used Sitka Spruce cutting 1/8 strips. It turned out beautifully. Of course it was not as thick as yours and the curve was not as acute, but after planing, sanding and recovering, the tip was perfect. He was flying again in short order. Thanks for your video. I really enjoyed it.
Love the 4 paw inspection your assistant gives your work. I can hear the thought process. "This material would make a very nice box for me to sit in, but I guess it looks ok as a table too."
Thanks for the inspiration! Retired from an electronics background, your sharing of techniques and design ideas with the public is such a wonderful help for those of us who are aspiring to become accomplished woodworkers!

Having been a carpenter for 35 plus years building homes and some furniture for myself and family, I sure as hell know you can spend many hours per piece of furniture or project, especially when each one is your prototype. Nice job by the way 👍. I never worked with too much quality dimensional lumber . Couldn't always afford it for personal pieces. So pine, cedar, fur, spruce and some hardwoods were my limit. .🤐. Keith, this build is absolutely gorgeous!! The wood-bending is what brought me to this video. It would be awesome if you could do a tutorial on making a reusable form/mold for extra large, round and tapered concrete planters. I only find videos on planter molds that are squared or rectangular.
THanks so much, Jessica! And thanks for the idea! That's probably something that would need to be build from melamine to help with an easy release of the concrete.
Tradesman to tradesman I really hope that client didn't ask for a deal on the "revised" size. Thanks for the effort you put into this video man, the bits of information I pick up watching stuff like this is very appreciated.

perfect woodwork, the result is a piece of art :) (after watching several other channels this is a breeze to watch, there wasn't a single moment where i thought "oh no, better don't do it this way", kudos for that)
Of all the physical activities known to mankind, woodworking is one of them. Attention and intention shape and coax the beauty that is already there to simply shine a bit more brilliantly and be noticed as the principled application of design dancing with beauty. A function is satisfied as elegantly as opposites attracting.
Lucky you! I always pay better attention when I'm high. While I'm high and building things everything looks perfect. When I go out the next morning I think the local kindergarten class had been working in my shop the night before! Lol
you know...I've watched other videos of bending wood and in my humble opinion, what you have done here with the plywood forms seems to make the most sensible method for this project.
I wish I knew how much a table like this would get minus the double effort due to wrong size ordered. Great craftsmanship. Not sure if I'll ever have enough patience to put this much effort into one piece but it looks great. Nice job!
Brilliant work as always!!!!! And thank God you got over that laryngitis or whatever the hell it was that kept you away from your hilarious voice overs in the last video!!!🤣🤣👍🤟🍻 keep the videos coming!!!!
Absolutely GORGEOUS. Thank you. I'm deaf and don't listen to your narration, Why polyurethane rather than wood glue for the bent lamination? No criticism, just getting a better understanding. Thanks.
No problem! Thanks for watching and the comment. The polyurethane glue has more open time. A standard PVA glue will start to cure too quickly. Each glue-up took about 20 minutes from start to finish and the open time on the Gorilla glue is about 30 mins. Some people seem to have no problem using standard PVA glue for something like this, but for me it’s just another added stressor that I don’t need.
Came out great! New sub here! Did they pay for your time as it was built to their original specifications? What did you do with the first one? Thanks for the knowledge and inspiration!
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking The original, built to the correct specifications, should have been paid for by the contracted party. They got exactly what they requested. I can't believe you would let that go.
Evox so hold them hostage to pay me and never get any more from work from them again? Or try and help a good client out by selling it to someone else? I’ll take the latter. Sticking it to a client will have worse ramifications. And I already have 3 more jobs lined up with this client. I would have had ZERO and a potential small claims court battle.
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking You pick your battles I suppose. It's not "sticking it" to the client, it is asking the client to honor your agreement unless you left a lot open to interpretation. Either way, it tells you what kind of client you're dealing with.
I can understand both sides of this conversation, but I have to agree with Keith. I own a business in a different industry but have had customers give wrong specs as well. As long as they can admit it’s on them, I’ll redo it for free. The cost of you eating it is A LOT more then me, but if you can still sell it, at least you make some money back. My business is all custom so I can’t resell the product...but it’s not a huge loss...especially to keep the customer and to have the customer say good things about my customer service. I had a woman trying to blame me right out of the gate...I didn’t remake her order. I tried explaining where her error was, but kept yelling and blaming me...she didn’t want to hear it. That’s NOT a customer I care to keep.
That’s pretty incredible. Do you have the call log of the first person you called after the first delivery attempt was made? That is a conversation I’d like to hear. 🤣🤣🤣
😂🤣 My wife was the sounding board for that one. Luckily I had just chugged a double espresso so my mood was somewhat decent. Disappointed and frustrated, but certainly not the expected Hulk mode...yet... 😜😂
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking No, thank you for showing me this design. I was leaning towards a pedestal style leg for my round table for my breakfast nook. Now, I have to build this a hundred percent. Btw, I wouldn't be breaking any law if I copy this design right?

Attention and intention shape and coax the beauty that is already there to simply shine a bit more brilliantly and be noticed as the principled application of design dancing with beauty. A function is satisfied as elegantly as opposites attracting.
Wonderfully said! Thank you for the comment 🙏
Inspired work The time and effort to get it right really makes you work shine
Thanks! 👍😎
UA-cam suggestion was right, your channel is certainly worth watching.
Thank you! 🙏🏻🙌🏻
What a masterpiece, 😍😍
Congratulations!
Thank you very much!!
It's probably just cuz I'm pretty high, but I'm enjoying your narration.. lol
LOL! Whatever it takes, my man 😹 🙌
Lucky you! I always pay better attention when I'm high. While I'm high and building things everything looks perfect. When I go out the next morning I think the local kindergarten class had been working in my shop the night before! Lol
@@handymanmlewis9566 LOL!
Naw... it's good sober. Lol
Battle the Damned 😜😎👊🏻
I don’t dare show this to my wife or she will add this to the list of things I’m not yet qualified to build. Very cool Bubba
😂 I have a long list of wife projects I've yet to get to as well...😜
Beautiful table. A work of art with impeccable craftsmanship every step in the process.
Thank you very much, sir! 🙏🏻💪🏻
you know...I've watched other videos of bending wood and in my humble opinion, what you have done here with the plywood forms seems to make the most sensible method for this project.
Thank you, Sven! I really appreciate that! 🙏 👍
I wish I knew how much a table like this would get minus the double effort due to wrong size ordered. Great craftsmanship. Not sure if I'll ever have enough patience to put this much effort into one piece but it looks great. Nice job!
Thanks man! I appreciate it. Despite the double work, it was a fun and rewarding build. 👍
Beautiful executed and made!!! Good editing ( laugh a lot)!!! Well explained along the process!!
Glad you enjoyed it! I really appreciate the comment and the feedback 🙏👍
Blossom of walnut table, maybe a good name, great job, beautiful grain.
Thank you sir!!
Brilliant work as always!!!!! And thank God you got over that laryngitis or whatever the hell it was that kept you away from your hilarious voice overs in the last video!!!🤣🤣👍🤟🍻 keep the videos coming!!!!
Thank you! Gotta mix it up sometimes and see what sticks 😜👊
You seem to know what you're doing and the narration is entertaining...thx
Thanks Greg!
Whoaa...black walnut really is beautiful...and your work is amazing. Good supervision Mr. Cat!
Thank you very much! 🙏👍
Inspiring! I'm stoked to go make something now.
Fantastic!! So happy to hear that, Eric! Get after it!! 😉👊🏻
Yess informatif desaign
nice one no one show us that little gaps except you loool
Gotta keep it real!! 😜
Very nicely done. Thanks for mentioning how many hours you spent. helps keep things in perspective
You bet! Thanks for watching 👍🏻
beautiful work my friend. I love the look of walnut after the finish is applied. It always sets it off sublimly
Thank you! I completely agree. Cheers!
I just subscribed. Man I really love the look of this table base great job. Now I’m going to binge watch your other videos.
Awesome! Thank you Dave!! More videos on the way!!
New sub here, I love your video! Can’t wait to binge some more. Where have you been all my woodworking life?
Welcome aboard! Thanks so much for the comment. More videos on the way! 👍
Came out great! New sub here!
Did they pay for your time as it was built to their original specifications?
What did you do with the first one?
Thanks for the knowledge and inspiration!
Thanks for the sub and the kind words! Original one is up for sale, so I'll make back the time and money invested. 👍
Excellent work. Love the comments and gestures
Thanks a ton, Keion! I appreciate the kind words 🙏🏻😎
Excellent workmanship & solid humour 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you sir! 😜
Keith Johnson Custom Woodworking Please tell me the client paid for BOTH stands?
And here I was just waiting to see you steam bend some wood. Oh well, I can go to EngelsCoachShop videos if I need a refresher.
Ok! Thanks for stopping by 👍🏻
“A stack of plywood goodness”. 🤣😂
Great vid!!
😁 Thanks a lot!! 👍
That design is asbolutely beautiful
Thank you!
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking No, thank you for showing me this design. I was leaning towards a pedestal style leg for my round table for my breakfast nook. Now, I have to build this a hundred percent. Btw, I wouldn't be breaking any law if I copy this design right?
i have to say that is one beautiful table and i love how you explained how you did things
Thanks very much! I really appreciate that 👍🏻🙌🏻
I love your cat, it's just like mine, the same breed :)
Oh cool!! My wife had a gray cat when she was growing up, so I surprised her with 2 more! 😺
"i couldve save half the time, now why would i do that" lmfao
😜 😂 🙌
Lovely work and dry humour, keep it up!
A. Marques Much appreciated! More to come 👍🏻
15:20 threaded inserts, just learned something.
One of my favorite pieces of hardware 👌🏻😎
That is amazing! As a very new (but old - 55yrs) woodworker, I find videos like this very inspiring Cheers, Mark
Thanks Mark! I greatly appreciate the kind words - glad you liked the video. Cheers!
Got you beat! 63 and just starting out. Need to make a little extra cash these days!
Good editing, funny comments and awesome craftmanship skills. That's what youtube should be about.
I appreciate that! Thank you so much for watching and the feedback. 🙏👍
