The Orville Molcan divorce

- I do not own the Orville or any of the characters. It is the property of FOX and Seth MacFarlane.
After Bortus isn't spending enough time with his mate, Klyden wants a divorce, but Moclan divorce is quite sharp
"Captain you must release Klyden ;_;"
*"Out of the question >:("*
"pwease"
"ok"
Did the union not do any research before hiring a Moclan, they seem shocked by their culture.
It's a cultural stance. The union most know as a whole, but the members of the Orville are understandable not that knowledge
I guess not!🤷
You could say the same thing of Muslims coming to Western countries.
I've heard about honor killing in some culture. This is kind of like that. I bet you'd be surprised to hear if your neighbor was involved in that ritual of honor killing.
@Quentin Lennox race has nothing to do with this it's cultural issue learn the difference
I like how they call it "the sexual event".
I really hope Topa's room is soundproofed
They're in space. I think the bulkheads will be thick enough.
Well the vows did say "till death do you part" they didn't say whose death though
and they didn't say natural death
So basically, it's the same as some humans who "divorce" in that very manner!
😅😂🤣👍😁👍
This is how I do when I need to divorce my wife/husband in skyrim. But without a dagger I use a battle axe.
FUS ROH DAH + Cliff
I use lightning
goldbrand for me, gotta get that boost going
... you guys are solemnly... mad.
A battle axe is far more classy
Wow! Moclans are even more brutal than the Klingons. To my knowledge, Klingons don't get divorce by sticking a dak'takh inside their partner's chest...
At least the Klingon's only backhand and spit on your face a little
@@Best.Of.Britian Ah yes the episode with quark and Grilka was great
Even the Mandalorian in SW aren't that extreme. At most they might end the divorce with a Mirsh'mure'cya (head butt usually in armor AKA Keldabe Kiss)
@@danielhaire6677 Right on!!
I'm pretty sure that quite a few Klingon divorces end in a stabbing to a chest.
"Day drink?" "DAY DRINK."
I don't recommend the day drink as a matter of routine, but there are times it definitely helps.
That was a pretty day drink
"I did not realize SHE was this unhappy."
...You heard it too, right?
So did I!
Yeah
Clearly says he.
@@AutumnWoodham Get your hearing checked.
@@Bacxaber Get yours checked, it's clearly just an artifact of a strained voice.
The Moclan's Are incredible weapon designers and that is what got them in the Union.. All the Union saw was the ability to defend themselves with tremendous weapons but short sightedly didn't realize what they were they were bringing it to their own home until it was too late and we got the results at the end of the Season 3. I am not surprised at this at all and there was a precedent set also in star trek where they had the episode where those weapon designers kill themselves making weapons To provide the perfect defense and were themselves the victims of their own brilliance.
This show is so gorgeous. That opening shot with the star surface put a lump in my throat for some reason. Thank God for Seth MacFarlane.
which god in particular are you thanking and where in the credits are they.
3:02 "I did not realize *she* was this unhappy" - SPOILER ALERT
I thought guys were men.
**HE**
He identifies as male
@@crem-crem4070 You're missing the point. Besides the fact that that was the line said here, Klyden was born female and was forcibly transitioned due to Moclan customs (just like Topa), but this was only revealed in a much later episode.
@@MikelosM The line wasn't said here. Bortus says "he" he's just injured and not speaking clearly. The entire rest of the scene is "he" and "his".
@@MikelosM and he still identifies as a he
I really like how Ed and Kelly kinda bond over this matter. They understand that marriage is hard...but dang...they still respect each other even more so after THAT WITNESS
3:53 "What do they do when it's someone's birthday, light the parents on fire?'
Well, I mean, only if they're Giliac. What else are you supposed to do?
My favorite thing about Moclans is how aggressive they sound but how loving the intent of their words are. XD
"light their parents on fire?" LOL!!
For a 60 year old woman, Dr Finn has “got it goin’ on”! 😃👍🏻
So did Cassidy Yates in another franchise. Both Finn and Yates seem to love the D.
Like mechanical Donkey Kong!
@@priruss357 And previously she dated Orville's equivalent of Odo (except Yaphit is a full mouthed SOB)
Is dr Finn 60? The charter?
well you have to remember something, she was married to The Sisco.
3:52 - 4:05 One piece of advice to you Captain Mercer: If you're sick and tired of various aspects of Moclan culture, wait until you have met with Captain Picard and how he has to deal with Worf and all the ritualistic shenanigans he brought from the Klingon homeworld 😉
Captain Mercer had it way worse sure the klingons might have been more violent as a whole but the Moclans Were brought into the Union way too quickly without any real knowledge of their culture and society. The Klingons were at least a known quantity to the federation. Poor Mercer spent every day wondering what exciting and horrifing facet of Moclan Culture was to come next. Will they bring a Flame Thrower to the kids birthday party because on Moclan the child needs to live through fire to become a full man.
No lawyers, just clean and simple.
2:58 That happens on Earth too but it's usually called "true crime."
i never realized the foreshadowing here until season three dropped; that's brilliant
What foreshadowing
@@GameLover45408 the part where Bortus referred to Klyden as “She” hinting or foreshadowing the reveal that Klyden is indeed born female turned male.
Klyden admitted it when Topa was a baby to him.
@@apolloknight9521 But it isn't, it's just his strained voice.
For a while I didn’t mind the Moclans. Incredible stomachs, male race and fire power. Pros, cons however is where things get dicey. Especially when it comes to female births, divorces involving stabbing and the occasional being questioning about their culture all the time since it revolves around getting hurt. Seriously I’d rather be on a Klingon home world.
Is this the Moclan way of saying : "Not tonight because I have a headache."
They handled the mental gymnastics of dealing with that "divorce" just the way I might have.
It's interesting because I can imagine an alien species possibly doing this
I want one of what Ed and Kelly are drinking.
Ironically, Ed and Kelly are a divorce couple passing judgment on a couple from a different culture's marriage practices. Not saying they are not right, it is just irony.
The Xelayans must make some pretty good hooch.
It’s gorgeous
Well, you can't have the drink but you can have the glasses. They are Norlan Whiskey Glasses.
"I did not realize she was this unhappy" oh they actually misspoke
Klyden was born female so technically.
The mock characters, have more personality then an entire fucking sequel to star trek...
What do they do on the birthdays, light there parents on fire? 🤣🤣🤣
TheDarkarrow7 considering everything else, probably
I think so yes
Well, if my ex hadn't left first, that is how this would have gone for me.
She did tell me that "It's until death do us part. I mean yours."
I can't say "Poor Bortus." He got a divorce!
He survived marriage. Poor bastard.
Okay, youre on a Union Ship, you chose to come here, you chose to stay, you play by their rules. Moclans should not be shocked that murder on Union territory is illegal under any circumstance. Klyden should have stayed in the Brig and either exiled back to his planet or placed in prison. That's holding up the laws of your people
When in Rome, do as the Romans.
Back in the day, men and women used to have their spouse killed rather than go through the "shame" of a divorce.
Doesn't seem too different. It's just, out in the open.
There’s a reason a lot of men died of stomach flu and mysterious illnesses before No fault divorce. The women were killing their husbands.
proving again that "please" is the magic word
The doctor was on Deep Space 9.
Kassidy Yates
That's right! Penny Johnson Jerald played Kasidy on DS9!
God I love Moclan culture :)
Moclans are even more brutal than the Klingons. To my knowledge, Klingons don't get divorce by sticking a dak'takh inside their partner's chest...
haha i was looking for this comment :D
From an outsiders perspective sure lol me too
The transphobia mysogany or body mutilation of children whats your favorite?
@@WardNightstone Okay look I made this comment three years before the 3rd season came out sophist to say I an not a fan of Moclan culture as I was 3 years ago
I can't believe this show is more like Star Trek than Star Trek. Discovery is such garbage..
@American Restoration Initiative I strongly disagree. Yes, the Orville has a bigger comedy focus than old school Trek did, but it still does have a lot of episodes that are based on ethical dillemas, just like old school trek. Actually quite a few of specifically the Moclan episodes are exactly about that. For example in one episode where they explore the fact that Moclan society used to have a female sex, but due to cultural changes, they started transitioning all females to males at birth to have a fully male society. And the human crew is unable to accept this cultural difference and finds it wrong (which is certainly something that happens many times in old school trek), and so when a Moclan female is born aboard the Union ship and the Moclan parents naturally want to transition her to male as per their culture, the doctor refuses and they have a whole episode about it and it really doesn't have light hearted ending either, its a very interesting and serious episode, despite the overall comedic style of the show.
@@ugaboj You disagree but say the exact same thing...
@@tomf3150 If you take a look at the @ at the front of my comment, you'll notice it was addressed to someone who has since deleted their comment.
Strange New Worlds fucking killed it though, check that out
"Let us share the sexual event"
Some poor programmer spent hours coding up a 5 second toast. I don't know if I would be proud or upset.
I don't see the difference to humans. People virtually do the same and it hurts for a time instead of a moment.
We write aliens as reflections of ourselves.
Henry VIII could show the Moclan a thing or two about brutal divorce practices.
I hate to find out what Moclans do when they go through puberty.
I think I know but first do you see that city over there?
Great. Kassidy Yates changed careers and became a doctor.
Did anybody think Klyden stabbed him because he found out what he was doing in the simulator.
“There is a limit to how far I’ll go to accommodate cultural diversity among my officers and YOU have just reached it!”
There's plenty of humans that choose this as their preferred method to end their marriages, or someone else's 🧐
"Day drink?"
"Day drink"
The amount of times in the show that they seem utterly baffled by an element of culture from another species who allegedly is part of the union makes me think not everybody in the Union does their homework.
Apparently the Mocclans were fast tracked into the Union due to their weapons manufacturing practices. So the Union on the whole didn’t really do their homework aside from ooh weapons yay.
4 years on and it still says "Molcan"
This channel must not be officially affiliated with the Orville production company. I don't think the Orville production company would actually misspell the species name of one of their characters in the title and then 3 years later still not have fixed it.
What season and episode is this?
And I thought the Klingons were violent.
4:24 These are the most epic booze I ever saw in tv history!
If we did that on Earth I bet their would be no divorce or possibly even marriages
Imagine if we murdered our spouses for a divorce. The male species would go extinct.
Male species? Male is a gender not a species. :P
For Centuries it was customary for the Husband to murder his Wife if either wanted a divorce.
Saves money on divorce lawyers
Howyaduing what about criminal defense lawyers?
How high do you think the divorce rate is?
I'm glad klydan left bortus deserves so much better and I'm glad toppa got her birth gender back she's a wonderful girl
What is a Molcan? Do you mean MocLan.
*Bortus gets stabbed*
Subtitles: [Applause]
Misspelled "Moclan" in the title. ;)
Bit of a typo error there, think it should be MOCLAN not Molcan....Still like the video though.
Royz View I didnt even notice
When he said to the captain, release him please, I would have asked him, what aren't you telling us?
Some people still do this when they're ready for divorce especially over an affair graveyard's full of these people
Those drinks were the coolest thing I’ve ever seen
hold up, they said daydrink.. they are in space day and night mean nothing
They still got to go to sleep, so they have day and night shifts. They turn down the lights so it’s easy to sleep
3:02 He called his spouse a she.... tehe
Love that show
I have a set of those glasses, Norlan glasses.
Couldn't Bortus have called Klyden to say he'd be late?
Yes, but he was lying. He was in the simulator having sex instead of spending time with Klyden
@@accordgolfer Thanks, I'd forgotten.
@@accordgolferwild💀
Latchcuuuummmmm !!!! It sums up their culture in a word . 👍😁
The old Skyrim divorce
Till death do we part! Captain & First Officer, Husband & Ex wife having a drink together!
i’m so lost is this a show or a movie ?
"what do they do for their birthdays, set their parents on fire?"
this logic follows and i cant help but laugh
also holy shit those drinks are ingenious for a toasting
0:47 Bortus is the woman in this relationship.
Moclan divorce is really final. Can't just walk away with half everyone's stuff can they?
They live next door to me for a while . I believe they should have dated longer before they made the big lunge into matrimony
That's Chad Coleman aka Cutty Wise on the wire,
This is like Worf stabs his brother in DS9
The molcan 💀
Moclan not Molcan , title is wrong
Is the doctor the actress that portrayed President Palmers wife in 24?
Asa Yagami Yes, she is. Penny Johnson Jerald. She was also Kasidy Yates on DS9.
@@TheMikeX74 i forgot she was siskos love interest
From "sharing sexual event" to "instant murder" lol
Now i want a whiskey that does that
Sounds amazing. I vote we adopt Moclan culture here on Earth 🤭
Moclan, not Molcan.
3:50 Kermit!!
Moclan, not Molcan. Do you even read before you publish?
Mistakes happen brother, I promise you will live on.
this is what a show looks like when the creator stills gives a shit
What is a Molcan? And these are Moclans.......
Gotta be ironic that the commander who cheated on the capitan is the one to critisize Moclan divorce
1: She didn't stab him.
2: She was technically graped.
It's MOCLAN
I think I might be a Molcan
1:48 *Angry Dr Mike noises*
Seems about right
You spelled "Moclan" wrong!
Damn I want that Xelayan drink
Can you imagine what that shit would do to a gravity Earth normal being?
Mannnnn next time my lady asked for the sexual event and I'm tired I'm sleeping in the car.lol
I dunno bout you but i want that Whisky.
Did Klyden have a position on the ship?
Mostly on his back, apparently!
>> runs like hell
😅😂🤣👍😁👍
3:54 isn't the birthday the piss event? 😂
Youd think with all their abilities, molcans skin would be too hard to pierce
