I don’t know what’s more horrifying and hilarious, that Isaac cut his leg off attempting a practical joke, or that the severed leg that fell doesn’t match up to malloys stump which stops around the knee; implying that there’s multiple severed legs hidden on the ship. Lol
Gordon added parts to Isaac like he was a Mr. potato head, and Isaac REMOVED parts like Gordon was a Mr. Potato head. Hiding the leg was an amazing touch.
Honestly Isaac probably knew that the leg could be reattached easily. It was a pretty good prank, considering that the series takes place in the future.
Thanks for including the scene where Gordon tells Issac it was the best practical joke he'd ever seen. A lot of scene comps of this episode leave that out. The only thing that could make it better is if you'd had the scene an episode later where he gets stabbed and screams "DAMNIT THAT WAS A BRAND NEW LEG!"
It is seriously hard to decide the most brilliant part of Orville, but this is right up there in the rankings. I was shocked and speechless but when he came out hopping on one leg, I just went into gut wrenching fits of laughter!.....and then I almost peed in my pants when she slung it over her shoulder!
Love how Gordon tries to come after Isaac as if he could actually hurt him. Isaac is a machine so if Gordon tried to punch him for example he would only break his hand doing so.
Right? As long it's not a the heart, head or lungs (maybe), then we gochi. Would absolutely pull this prank often cause we now have the power and technology to do fuck all.
That was intentional. In a way Isaac is a bit like a mixture of Spock and Data, he does not wish to be a human, however because of his mission has to collect data about every organic phenomenon. Including jokes and coitus.
Like he says thats got to be the best practical joke ever, if he cant take it he shouldnt dish it (since regrowing and reattaching legs is easy apparently in the future its not as bad of a situation) Apparently spaceships use plaster in the future?
Space....The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Orville. Its continuing mission: To continue the sci-fi adventures inspired by Gene Roddenberry's visions. To seek first contact with new civilizations while having lots of fun. To boldly go where no Trek has gone before!!
No reason to take him anywhere, Issac likely did it right there in the bed. As seen in the latest season, Isaac can perfectly preform extremely complex cosmetic surgery solo, a leg is a cake walk by comparison.
i like that you can see how Alara is having to dodge the actual leg (which if youve seen some deleted scenes is just covered in green) of gordon as they walk out. thus her weird walk
@@danielberry4765 I know he is, I’m saying that at a certain volume it’s hard to disguise your natural voice. He doesn’t sound like Steve most of the time in the show.
That leg joke gets even funnier in the next episode when Malloy's new leg gets stabbed by a Krill soldier. Also, I do like the Kaylon's later appearence more than the season 1 look.
I like this altcanon. The Kaylons all along we’re trying to make a practical joke! “These biologicals have centuries of literature where AI’s decide to kill them all.” They also have clarified their humor with statements such as “wouldn’t it be funny if that happened.” We will begin a genociadal war with the organics and halt it at the appropriate point to say ‘Ha Ha, got you.’ They will find it hilarious.”
Isaac didn’t have a twofold plan, he had a threefold plan. First was “Ha ha, i took your leg.” Second was “ha ha, I hid the leg.” But the third unspoken stage was “ha ha, wrong leg!” He regenerated part of the severed leg just so it wouldn’t fit. That’s also why it’s not bleeding.
I love the collective agreement that because the leg doesn’t add up with the Stump Isaac has multiple decoy legs hidden around the ship.
that's going to start smelling really bad after a week lol. I hope they can find them before the smell is stuck in the ship
Nothing would be funny then a bunch of random leg just appear at different episodes

POSSIBLY implying, possibly.
He probably grew a few extra so that he would not be without one for long, knowing that they are needed to self transportation.

I love Gordon. He is my favorite character.
I agree Isaac is hilarious, can't believe no one appreciated the prank
The funny thing is the leg they found doesn’t look like the one he lost as it was amputated higher up
The only way it would have been better is if Isaac had shrunk the leg and hidden it INSIDE Gordon. Just like a Mr. Potato Head.

That’s the best laugh I have had in quite a while! 😂
Exactly I needed this.
One of my favourite moments of the series 😂
NGL i grinned at the moment he screamed when he lost his leg
This scene is why Isaac beats Data at being the outsider that tries to learn about humanity that gets it wrong sometimes.
Data's too humble to do something like this. Issac is more cold and calculating
Love how Gordon tries to come after Isaac as if he could actually hurt him. Isaac is a machine so if Gordon tried to punch him for example he would only break his hand doing so.
Hands down truly only an Artificial life-form could master comedy so quickly
One or two episodes later, Gordon gets stabbed in the leg by a Krill. His response:
"Gah! Son of a BITCH that was a new leg!"
Technically speaking, Isaac wins.

Good thing that the Orville isn't a standard transmission, because there's no way he's going to clutch with that little baby leg at the end.

When I saw this scene, I just knew Isaac was going to do something violent that he'd think was funny! 😂
This is what my dad would have called taking a joke too far.
When watching this, I was saying he'd take a leg. Was not let down!
I was thinking arm. But I guess to Isaac, he needed both of those to remain effective at his job while a leg was less necessary.
I like how when Scott is acting hysterical he just straight up turns into Steve Smith.

What kind of sedative did Isaac give Gordon so that he can do the procedure, hide the leg, and put Gordon back in his room before he noticed?
No reason to take him anywhere, Issac likely did it right there in the bed. As seen in the latest season, Isaac can perfectly preform extremely complex cosmetic surgery solo, a leg is a cake walk by comparison.
A really, really good sedative. The kind that could knock out Keith Richards.
Anesthetic rather than sedative - otherwise he could still feel the pain from the surgery.
