    A word of caution on matting- I'm on month 2 of my challenge and I've been itching to see my hair since day 1 lol. I finally allowed myself to take down just one of my cornrows to "check" on my hair (I did 6 cornrows that I've been wearing under wigs, keeping hydrated throughout the week and recently got put on to fenugreek seeds 🙌) To my surprise I had some tangling near the roots in a few spots. Nothing that some water, my leave-in, and a bit of patience wasn't able to undo without experiencing any breakage ❣ But I definitely wasn't expecting it. Now I have to wait to finish work for the day so I can take down and detangle the rest of the braids. Very glad that I didn't wait until month 3 or I would've had even more tangling to deal with. When I re-install my cornrows this time I will do them a bit tighter and smaller as I believe the thickness of the braid was the main culprit (I can just barely braid my own hair😩)
    Of course this won't happen to everyone, but I would say if you're worried about your hair possibly matting go ahead and check on it! I know we all want to reach our goal that we set but it's okay to adapt as long as we are making the necessary changes with the overall goal of less manipulation and less breakage. It's all about finding what works best for you.
    Thanks Coily Diaries for these videos, they have changed the way I treat my hair and it is thriving because of it! Best wishes to all of you on this journey :)

    Well Sis, I have a bit of PTSD from washing in twists many years ago as that was a full disaster. 😅 Now I have watched you and two others ladies wash in braids so I decided I’d give it a go. With all the skills and knowledge I’ve since learned, it went wonderful and I’m hooked! Instead of stretching my wash days to 3 months, I’m going back to 6 weeks. My hair game has been changed forever!! 😂 Thanks girl, you’re hands down one of the best natural hair ladies on UA-cam!! 🥰👏🌸

    Thank you for the challenge and keeping us motivated. My hair is doing good. I have yet to try glycerin. Early in my journey my hair did not seem to like it, but with your encouragement I'm willing to try it again. 💛I appreciate your videos and for you taking time to make them. As always, thanks for the tips. And as mentioned in another post, I already did an 8 week challenge but this time I'm doing the 12 weeks. So, in another 3 weeks ( at a month) I'll shampoo and condition my hair. It's low porosity so I'm wondering if I should do a protein treatment this next time? Maybe a protein treatment that has bigger-size proteins versus the smaller more potent protein?

    • @CoilyDiaries
      @CoilyDiaries  3 місяці тому

      how often do you do a protein treatment outside of the challenge? doing protein with braids is risky just in case all the protein is not rinsed out

    • @PattyTe404
      @PattyTe404 3 місяці тому

      @@CoilyDiaries I've only done the two step Aphogee once last July. And 2 weeks ago ( at my 8 week challenge) I did one with the larger proteins ( Egg, Mayonnaise, Olive Oil, and Honey). But I was just wondering should I do one only every 3 months after taking my plaits or braids out, if it feels too soft?
