I will continue to shout from the rooftops how amazing this movie is to anyone who will listen. I don't care if it sounds like hyperbole, but this movie literally cured my depression! I've always been a bit of a nihilist who believed that nothing we did matters. I was Jobu without the cool powers. I believed that, eventually, the human race will end, the sun will explode, the universe will collapse in on itself, etc... so why bother? What is the point of life and living, if nothing we do matters. This movie taught me a different way to view that same nihilism: if nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do. We can profoundly affect the world we live in just by being kind. Whether you believe in "religion" or "god" or "a higher power" or just that we are a giant coincidence created by billions of things going EXACTLY right to create a living being that can perceive the universe which created it. None of that matters. What matters is what we do with the time that we're here. That's all. Nothing else. It doesn't matter if our efforts are appreciated, or even noticed, because we control how we perceive the universe in which we live! 0:28 they were singing karaoke and in particular, Barbie Girl by Aqua. Evelyn covers Joy's mouth because the lyrics at that point were: "You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere"
The show is much more than Sci Fi or Martial Arts or Fantasy or Animation. Honestly it is just a story about fighting nihilism and uses the multiverse as a metaphor being able to accept all the possibilities and to love what is around us. It also incorporates the Chinese American experience of living different worlds in a new land and how that affects you and your relationships. There are a number of philosophical principles to go over with this movie. I think what people have to learn to do is see how the genre is being used to convey a common message. Dune for example is a movie in which people are having a hard time seeing that the story is about ecology, religion and worship of a charismatic leader instead just see the sandworms. Sci Fi and Fantasy are known for conveying complex ideas in a fantastical situation.
Its cute how Jane said she had a thing about eyes, like it's her only weak spot. This just revealed all the triggers you guys have, and there were many. At some point, I was like come on, it's just a movie.
Great reaction! I saw this in the Theater and cried my eyes out. Normally this type of reaction to a movie would keep me from going back to watch again where everyone can see me get so emotional, but with this one I didn't give a shit, I went back and watched it 2 more time (3 total) and then bought it as soon as I could. A couple fun facts you might appreciate: 1) The budget for this movie was a tiny $25 Million... and then according to 1 of the Producers, they were actually able to pull all of this off for only $14 Million. Freaking Insane!! 2) They filmed this movie in only 38 days due to the COVID lockdown that occurred. Also unbelievable but true. 3) OFC it won every Oscar, but some ppl are pretty pissed Best Supporting Actress went to Jamie Lee instead of Stephanie Hsu (the daughter). The explanation is that the Academy was doing a 'make-up award' type situation since they've never given Jamie Lee an Oscar. I also agree it should have gone to Stephanie. 4) Not sure if you realized it, but Ke Huay Quon (Waymond) was the actor who played Data and Shortround in Goonies and Indiana Jones respectively. He gave up acting for about 40 years due to a lack of roles for Asian actors in Hollywood. His Oscar acceptance speech is worth watching. 5) The S&M guy who gets spanked is played by one of the Directors (Daniels). The 2 'butt plug' actors are actually the stunt coordinators in the movie. Anyways, great reaction and thanks for reading if you've made it this far!!
If Jane was the only one reacting to this, I'd have quit earlier. I only managed to finish bc of Justin's reaction. Jane is being so uptight, disturbed, and too distracted. Let loose, girl, and just enjoy the rollercoaster ride.
Agreed! The guy had quality responses but she seems way too socially immature to grasp the depth of this film...sounds like my 5 year old niece with all the 'ews' and 'gross' and other nonsense toddler reactions 🤦

Saying that UFC is real fighting is bit silly considering that there are thousands of years of fight based training throughouth the human history. UFC is a mild form of actual combat with strict rules. The people who fought in the past often had no rules because it was a real matter of life and death. Most of the current forms of martial arts are meant to be flashy and have been modified to fit as a sport rather than be real styles of fighting with the intention to maim or to kill the opponent. I really wish the people who do UFC for living would stop acting like they have somehow discovered the only way to really do fighting. There are no throat punches or groin kicks or eye gouging type of moves in UFC. Its a watered down version of the real thing.
oh my god ive been wanting you guys to watch this movie for FOREVER. ITS SO GOOD. It's such a goofy silly time with fun action and then it hits you right to the heart. sobbing over two rocks with googly eyes is such an experience. EEAAO does what multiverse stories SHOULD do - it takes the big, expansive wild nature of branching universes to focus on the small, tiny things we do in our every day lives that matter. Things that might not seem like they matter but do. And the movie makes a point to say "Even when things are painful, and weird, and messy, always choose to be kind. Because that's strength - it is strategic, and good. Just be kind to each other." I love this movie so much t-t
I absolutely love this movie. It's bonkers amazing. Deserved all the awards. I cried the entire last 15min in the theater and I can't describe the feeling I had when I left. Felt like an old wound had healed.

Optimistic Nihilism is a great philosophy! Nothing inherently matters. I therfore decide what matters to me without the need of someone telling me what is supposed to matter. Like Evelyn said "Nothing matters, that means everything does"
I had to see this goodie at a cineplex more than once because it was blind blowing and there were some miserable chumps in the room. Ke Huy Quan should've been nominated for best actor because he was the lead actor. I think James Hong deserved a supporting actor Oscar for his delivery of a particular line. "What the f**k are you doing?" makes me laugh every time
The stunt men are actually a kung fu club called the Marshalls. They have a UA-cam channel and they got to coordinate stunts and fighting for this movie. Their channels is pretty good. Michelle yo and short round both one Academy Awards. Nothing for joy though, but I think she will have other opportunities. She’s a pretty good actress.
