    Seen an interview with Michelle Yeoh where they were talking about her most iconic roles, like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Crazy Rich Asians. I never noticed that, it's like the yin and yang symbol, and I thought there was a kind of Buddhist tone to the movie. It's like with the sausage fingers they used their feet instead and were still able to play beautiful music on the piano and were positive because negativity leads towards the black hole of depression and apathy. The rock scene was beautiful, they were literally at rock bottom isolated within themselves, Joy didn't want Evelyn to come closer and then at the end there is a brief scene of the rocks and planets colliding. This movie is so deep and rich with symbolism, it's just a masterpiece, one of a kind.

      I felt like she wanted a mum to understand her, and die with her. Yet when beta waymond persuaded Evelyn from her sociapath mindset to embracing appreciation and love. Evelyn didn’t want to die. So jobu wants everyone to die no matter if her mum wants to do a suicidal pact or not. The whole family preventing Joy from dying was impactful. And Showing the daughter running in the laundromat emphasis that she’s just her daughter. As a villian u want to let her go. Deep down she’s still her daughter. She needs to know what she’s doing is hurting her mum, her family.

    This was certainly the best movie I've seen in many years. The acting, the story, the cinematography, and visuals were all just perfect. Michelle Yeoh put in the performance of her career, as did Ke Huy Quan who hasn't acted since the 80's in The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The daughter, played by Stephanie Hsu, was fantastic, and of course Jamie Lee Curtis killed it as the IRS agent. There were no weak spots in my opinion. It really makes the Dr Strange MoM look bad in comparison to how the multiverse was portrayed. Plus this movie cost about 10% of what that one cost ($25 million compared to $200 million) it's a shame this one won't make a billion dollars.

When she can’t understand how he helped and his voice breaks when he says, “idk. I just talked to her.” 🥺🥺 Then we see all the little moments of his kindness and silliness that makes her happy. That’s what they were both missing. Her and Joy. Remember when Joy says that’s why she was looking for her mom? To see if she could see something that she missed. They weren’t seeing Waymonds kindness. Also, the bagel represents Joys despair and depression. At the end, it’s super important that it’s Joy who reaches out for her moms hand. She wants help. You know, I've finally realized after rewatching this several times, the Alpha Joy, becoming Jobu means that in that universe that Joy was the "worst Joy", the one that failed at everything. Because Alpha Weymond said that in order for the mind to be able to handle all those and access all possibilities they had to be from the universe where every choice was the "wrong" choice. And then Joy at the end tells her mom, "Why wouldn't you choose to be in a place where your daughter is better than this", "this" being "me". So Jobu's Joy was a Joy that failed at everything, in a universe where her mother was the ultimate genius, and she went looking for the one universe where her mom failed at everything just like her. So she was looking for someone who's an ultimate failure like her to tell her there's an upside, a reason to go on, that she couldn't see.
    So no matter where you are in the multiverse, where you are in existence, by becoming everything everywhere all at once, no matter how high you are, you get the feeling of your worst low, at all times and your worst low gets to see first hand at all times all that you'll never have.
    So nothing you've ever done matters, and nothing you ever did mattered.

The main message that I got from the film is to love your life and the people around you and to stop fixating on the what ifs. As an older guy who has experienced - first hand - watching hundreds of movies since the 1960's, Everything, Everywhere, All at Once rises to the top of best edited films of all time. That's no mean feat. I'm so glad it won so many Academy Awards, but am especially glad it won for editing. Without the surgical precision of Paul Roger's edits, this film could have descended into a chaotic mess. And yet it became one of the best films in years.

    Awesome fact: Ke Huy Quan, who plays the husband, is the actor who played Data in The Goonies and Short Round in Temple of Doom. He had pretty much left acting for 30 years, due to lack of real opportunities for Asian actors. He recently came back, when he saw the success of 'Crazy Rich Asians'. I'm so happy he's back acting. I loved him i the 80's when i was a kid, and he killed his role in this movie.

    one detail I like about this film is that one of the directors wanting it to be about a mother with undiagnosed ADHD (hence with her not focusing on the moment and only listening when its urgent and even amplified when she was jumping into different verses). So the director researched about ADHD and that lead him to getting a diagnosis himself

    The writers said Albert Camus’s concept of “the absurd” was a huge influence on why the movie goes so out there. It seems like it’s there purely for humor & “randomness” but it’s really there to highlight the movies thesis statement on optimistic nihilism or optimism in the face of accepted nihilism.
    Joy & wayman both accept the absurd & meaninglessness of the universe but approach it in different ways.

    • @munkqiking7207
      @munkqiking7207 Рік тому

      The term youre lookin for is absurdism.
      The "optimistic nihilism" you refer to and Waymond highlights is absurdism.
      Its the philosophy that posits that the universe is inherently absurd and without meaning, but the beauty in that is that we make our own meaning and find our own purpose in it. Often that is simply live and love as Waymond exemplifies, vs the nihilism ie. Joy who posits that without meaning why does anything matter?
      Its a perfect dichotomy and examination of the two philosophies that are almost polar opposites and highlights absurdism (probably one of the lesser known, but my favorite philosophy nonetheless) as a solution.
