    Wish I had watched first! Darn, I didn't put the Velcro on to the new batteries. Well, if I have a problem, I'll redo it and use the Velcro! Still have the old batteries. But my arthritic hands hurt to much to deal with all the tiny screws and taking the chair apart again right now! Lol. I was so proud to call my son and say, don't worry about my chair, mom did it all by myself! But I think I'll wait until I see if I have to do it again to put on the Velcro! 🤦then leave that part out! 😂
    Thanks for the great tutorial! Very helpful!

      Mine is the Z. Chair but was pretty much the same as the go-go except mine had 10 screws and washers to deal with...very tiny ones...thank goodness my screwdriver has a magnetic tip or I would have lost them! Lol
      I still haven't taken it apart and put back on the Velcro yet. But know I will have to very soon, just need a few rain free days to get my hands a bit less painful, then I'll do it. Good luck with yours!

    Thanks for this tutorial. I didn't figure I'd need one, but the first rule is "don't force it" and and just about everything on this unit is very snugly engineered, with screws fastened a bit too tightly and deeply recessed, out of sight. When the leads wouldn't just slide off, or the battery come out easily I came here to find out why. Nice job.

    I get 12AH Powersonic batteries from TNR Electronics for around $70 locally in Socal. I got an 18AH size battery case from Monster so I have a spare high capacity battery and a 12 AH one. Good for an all day Zoo visit. The 18 AH is quite a bit heavier than the 12AH one.

    I want to go lithium ion but are 14.8 volt batteries which cause the over volt alarm.
    Any suggestions on a fix? I don't want to go lower on volts with the lithium ion.
    Unplug the overvolt signal wire?
    I was thinking can use two 12volt regulators…
    Or use just one on the overvolt signal wire...

    • @Nitrxgen
      @Nitrxgen 4 роки тому

      Lithium ion batteries should have a battery management system (BMS) integrated with it (if sold commercially at least). The BMS protects the battery from unwanted electrical conditions like overcharging, discharging, balanced cell charging, etc.. If the "over volt" alarm is triggered, that's just the scooter trying to warn you that your [expected] lead acid battery isn't right. You can just disable that signal wire (I'm unfamiliar with this particular mobility scooter but they're all basically the same thing). The higher voltage won't really do anything to the motor or display, they're usually very rugged.

    Can you tell me if it is possible to use 12V 18AH batteries in place of 12V 12AH on my Go Go Scooter? Is there an advantage to it?

    • @richardprice9564
      @richardprice9564 5 років тому +2

      You can use either the 12AH or 18AH batteries but it comes down to the battery case size you currently have on your scooter. If you have a case like the one pictured in this video then the only batteries that would fit in there would be the 12AH series (15AH upgrades are available). If you wanted to use the 18AH batteries you would need to get a new battery case that fits them.
      The advantage of having a higher AH battery is longer run time and distance traveled before you need to recharge your battery pack.

    Hey, my scooter hadn't been used in over a year so I misplaced the charger I bought a new one, but weirdly enough when it's not even plugged in the light is on. I charged my scooter for a good 24 hours then tried to use it a few days later and it stopped working within 2 minutes. My dial was at the top at the green level and as soon as I pushed the handle to go it went right down and kept repeating this. Is this a battery issue do you think? Or a charger? As I'm scared to take it anywhere incase i get stuck. I'm wondering have the batteries died because it hasn't been used in so long. Any advice appreciated. Also what voltage were those new batteries you fitted? I have a Pride go go elite traveller. Thanks ☺️

If they spill some acid , they can wash it off right away.. Otherwise? Have to Cut the Battery Box Holder Open and probably Spend $100 or more a New Battery Box.. Or take it to a Scooter Dealer and spend more to have it done.

      It's not uncommon for the reset button to seem loose - in my experience, this means it doesn't need to be reset. I think you might have a set of deeply discharged batteries. Do you have access to a voltage meter to test the resting voltage of the batteries at all? If they are below 6 volts each then chances are your charger will not recognize them and not engage to begin the charging cycle.

      High-Tech Battery Solutions, Inc No unfortunately we haven’t got a voltage meter is there any other way we can check the batteries or not or do you advise we purchase a voltage meter?, it is possible that we did leave it to long before the last recharge, I would be great full for any further advice please , thank you

      @@chrisjones-rd3lw There really is not a good way to check the batteries without getting your hands on a voltage meter. If you don't have access to one you could always try taking the battery up to an auto zone or another automotive store - they should be able to test them for free while you wait (call ahead to confirm).

      Hi, we managed to get a voltage tester it read 12 volts, we also tested the charger which was showing green there was nothing showing up that the charger was giving out a charge
      So in that respect I suspected that the charger is faulty with this I have sent for a new charger from Ebay
      Many thanks for all of your help
