@@OverlandUnderBudget I read your seat swap post on the website...great read! I went down the rabbit hole of finding a good set of local to me BMW M3 e92 seats. Now trying to figure out re-upholstery options as tan leather seats in a grey cloth interior would be a bit rough.
Thank you! So I’m super interested to see how this effects the mileage on the odometer and at the gas station. I was averaging 215-220 miles before the gas light would come on and filling up with about 14.8-15 gallons at that point. Very interested to see how this changes. Truck seems to drive/shift smoother not sure if that’s the ecu reading a correct speed or just in my head haha
This was a pretty well documented change on Toyota forums and “adventure taco” wrote a great blog on it. If you have a different gearing and tire setup, you might need a digital signal adjustment. Google “yellow box” speedometer fixer 👍🏼 hope that helps!
Is this dependent on a manual transmission only? I’m running a 4Runner with the 2UZ on 35’s w/4:88’s but an auto tranny and wondering if this would be effective? Either way, it’s badass! 🤙. Loving the vids brother!
Just make your speedometer more accurate. Guys with automatic almost need to do this because the truck sifts smoother, little better mpg with it shifting at the right time. But for manuals we choose our gears obviously so we only shift as smoothly as our foot allows. One busy of mine bought a 99 manual with 30k miles on it and took that whole gear out as to no crank up the miles (illegal so I wouldn’t recommend)
@@schimming1122 I noticed they make them for both MT and AT. My big question is, with my situation my speedometer shows I’m going slower than I really am and with his it’s showing he’s going faster initially. So it leaves me wondering if this would be the right mod by increasing the number of teeth and whether or not that would correct it.
@@davidrucci hey david! good question. So i have 33 tires which slows the speedo reading down like yours... but then i regeared the diffs so the final drive is now lower making the speedo show a faster speed. if you are trying to speed up your MPH reading then you need less teeth/smaller gear so it spins faster and sends a faster signal to the speedometer on the dash.
Here for that 1st gen content!
Heck ya thanks!
Nice to see you back, mate.
thanks man!
I really like that bed.
Thank you! It’s been a fun project to design and build.
... you got new wheels 👍
Yes sir! Love them too. Nomad wheels convoy 16x8 -10 no spacers needed and 24lbs flow formed
Can you please make a video on affordable overland vehicles and love what you are doing keep it up buddy
Want to see those Mercedes seats! OEM are awful and I can’t decide what seat swap to go with.
alright! ill make a video on them soon

Nice video! How many miles are you getting on a tank of gas? Is it the stock tank? Aprox MPG with the regear? Cheers

Dope
In my case, my speedo is 10% under, which is messing up my shift points.
I have 4:88 with 35s, speedometer says I’m going 70 but really I’m going 66. Will this correct it? Or will it make it go faster by 3 mph?
Nice 👍, how do you know which part number you need for your tires/gear setup?

@@OverlandUnderBudget Lutz Auto makes a Toyota specific 3 wire calibrator. I would link it but UA-cam takes down links instantly.
How did you decide on 4.88s vs 5.29s? I have a 2004 3.4l V6 A/T on 33s and can't decide. I do pull a ~3300lb camping trailer in the summer.
Will this work on 2wd 2004 Tacoma?

What gear were you in at 70 and 2250 RPM?
