Stew also gets undervalued by most fans. How good has Malik Beasley played? It's hard to give a specific quantity but impressive is the first thought that comes to mind.
Ausar and Beasley for Tobias and THJ might be worth a look. Still gives us 3 above average to great spacers in the starting lineup. Tobias has a sub par shooting year at 33% anyway. This immediately increases the starters' defensive rating. But this depends on how far along Ausar is in his conditioning. He needs to be the otherworldly on defense like his early rookie year.
I feel like there’s been a ton of games where a combination of Cade and some of the bench players outplayed the starters. I’d like to see Cade, Ivey/Beasley, Ausar, Tobias, and Stew personally
You make a compelling case. I do think that Beasley and Ivey are interchangable. Ivey is playing good ball, but still inconsistent. Maybe with Malik in the starting line up Ivey can lead the second group and have the ball in his hands more.
Honestly I think the lineup should stay as it is, I think this team is starting to get used to playing with each other and are finally getting used to their roles on the team and to mix up the starting lineup may mess up that chemistry, even with Tobias not producing I wouldn’t bench him at this point, and I think Beasley is in the perfect role, he can start if there’s an injury but I think it’s best with him providing that spark off the bench, Pistons may have a top 5 bench in the league and it showed in that Lakers game, I think that’s how we’re gonna win our games, by just being deeper and fresher and more active than most teams
People need to criticize Tobi more. Dude has been terrible to watch offensively and decent defensively. Obviously Beasley could replace him in the starting lineup, but not enough players could make up for Harris’ deficiencies offensively off the bench so they have to start him with players that make him look less dog doo doo.
