capt... what kinda catfish are in this river you fished in today??? I'm from south Carolina but live in Kentucky now.. I plan on making a trip back to my home state to do some fishing next year and like to catch some big blues r flats if I can...
Franklin Owens...Wateree River below the dam has the same cats as Santee-Cooper, since they are connected...blues, flatheads and channels...if memory serves me right 3 flathead state records came from the Wateree River...guy named Billy Peaks caught 2 of them on the lower river and the other record was caught above US highway 76...no records have been caught in Wateree in many years...the last 1 or (2?) came from the Diversion Canal...the biggest blues live in the lower lake (Moultrie) unless there is flood water, then no telling where they will be. (anywhere in the system)...blues have pretty well took over from the channels, last time i checked Santee-Cooper holds the world record channel but they are small now, 10-12 lbs would be a whopper...
i'm not the captain, but seeing no one answered you, i did, hope this helps, maybe YOU will get the next record...

Some serious bream in that river and a beautiful channel cat as well ! Thought that rod was gonna give it was bent clean over on itself! Jean seemed to have the bigger bream under a spell tho she was pullin them in one after another ! Love watching you guys it's a pleasure and blessing you let us into your lives! Deer season coming soon too!
