@@lordlopikong6940 Knights and Titans are different, Knight are solo-piloted and have greater firepower than typical tanks but lesser than Titans. Titans require entire crews and even have onboard servitors. The heaviest grade of Knight, the Dominus Pattern still has less firepower than the Lightest grade of Titan, the Warhound There are several classes of Knights, Castiger which are lighter and used as raiders/scouts, Questoris which are standard and have many different variants and Dominus which are heavy and well-armed, additionally there are some extremely rare Great Crusade era variants Knights are either affiliated with Noble Houses, Adeptus mechanicus or are freeblades, whereas Titans are specific division of the Adeptus mechanicus called Collegia Titanica

The only thing a titan legion won't fire upon is like an STC, a dismounted Princeps (too valuable to lose), and a per-historic toaster. Maybe an Arc Mechanicus too, but if it's got Xenos in it they'd probably consider it tainted and fire anyway.
Best part was right after this engagement, the Tau decided to just strap big railguns on their tanks just to snipe titans and it worked That's also when the imperium stopped deploying titans
And then the Tau figured out that a highly mobile weapons platform with a sufficiently big gun can render titans obsolete. At least until the writers decided that that wasn’t cool enough and had the Tau just build bigger robots

3 mistakes the Tau made: 1. They thought they were safe 2. They thought hiding with hostages was a good idea 3. They assumed the Imperium’s Titan Legion would try diplomacy with Xeno’s
as always I gotta mention that the shock and awe of the Titans lasted for like one battle before the Tau figured out how to gimp these things so badly that the Mechanicus will not deploy them unless the Imperium has air superiority I.E when they're already winning and they don't need Titans.
Tau had been losing battle after battle whenever a Titan showed up. The single kill it made was against a Warhound titan which is the smallest of the models. It would have trouble against a Reaver and would be roflstomped by a Warlord. It took the Tigershark's entire missile capacity to take down the Warhounds void shields then got a lucky shot into the crew compartment in the head. Any other shots would had done damage but not killed the smaller scout titan. A Reaver has double the amount of void shields while Warlord has 8x the amount. Furthermore the Tigershark shielding can't deflect titan class weapons. So it has to hope that it can keep itself at range and that the titan's auspex won't burn through it's ECM. Losing a single Tigershark or Manta for that matter is a major loss even if the Tigersharks work in squadrons. These are the smallest capital ship that can enter atmosphere.
@@brainplay8060 and yet Tigersharks are still VASTLY cheaper than losing Titans. Plus most Titans have jack shit for AA defenses beyond shields. And don’t forget that was just the prototype, a Tigershark specifically designed to hunt Titans would basically be a flying Shadowsword. Takes too many missiles to punch through the void shield? Just build better missiles that specifically disrupt void shields. Railgun not big enough? Build bigger Railgun. Just keep adapting until they make the Titan obsolete.

Well, I can’t say this lead to greater Tau tactics in the future. It would be neat if it did. Titans are cool, but Mantas with rail cannons are also cool. And definitely more maneuverable.

Now that’s just untrue. It took at least 3 battles before the Tigershark A-0-1 was ready for field testing
