“We were, and are, and shall be. Hehehehe…shall be!” A bold statement of truth regarding the Necrons. They outlived every species before them, and they shall do it again.
I'm just imagining that while those loud horns play he's laughing a silent laugh. A evil cackle that none can hear. Body quaking as the tomb world beneath their feet awakens.
Imagine all the species they saw go extinct and all thats left are two one of which imploded under their own ego/decadence and the other devolved into troglodytes barely resembling a tiny fraction of their previous strength while the current ruling power in the galaxy are a bunch of upstart monkeys who only have numbers on their side while largely being technologically and psychically inferior to the eldar. If the Necrons united they could easily dominate the galaxy within the next 1000 years. The biggest threat the Necrons have to deal with are the Tyranids and Chaos which should be relatively easy for them as they beat the Old Ones and the C'Tan which presumably means they were also stronger than the Krorks and old Eldar.
@Mr Niemand Imagine not knowing necron lore. Necrons do feel as they have emotions (well the higher ups do) and that Necrons as a whole (and that includes warriors) actually still have enough feeling that they want to preserve their life (and yes the codex does say that they do have that)

This coupled with the 'crons having the ability to eliminate a star from history (with precise calculations of the potential effect on the time stream this has) and regenerate entire armies almost instantly with resurrection orbs mean that without pooling an astounding amount of resources, the tyranid swarm would be hard pressed to defeat the endless legions and literal caged gods of the necrons.

In order to make the board game feel fair. certain things have to be underpowered to allow "weaker" races the ability to stand up to the "stronger" race. If Necrons had the power they wield from the lore on the table top. They would end up being the most dominant race and most OP to be played on the tabletop. Got to remember. In the lore their Gauss particle whips strip matter from itself and uses it to carry the properties futher into the materials. There is nothing that can stop the destructive properties of necron weaponry. The only thing that sort of works is Necron Necrodermis and that is a living metal that somehow heals it self. And then you have the Necron world engine from the Neokhares Dynasty called Borsis that was only killable from the inside and even that took the kamikaze run of a Ryza-class Battle Barge to do. Bear in mind that is 15km of Adamantium crashing into a planet-sized seige engine and it still took over 100 solar hours to even reach to command node to plant melta charges to kill it. And don't even look into C'tan as even a Shard of them is just... well lets just say, there is a reason the Grim reaper is the same shape and form of the Nightbringer.
