I first heard this song back in the nineties when I bought the cassette from Tower Records and it completely blew me away! I've always been a Rare Earth fan, and this record seals the deal.✌️
Blasting this while grilling some ribs with my Old Smokey! My neighbors love me as I provide them plates! Life is great especially with early retirement before 60!
These bunch of talented crazy musicians made the 70s special. Norman Whitfield was indeed the right producer that brought these great guys to the music world. Never forget Motown Records who signed them as the only white group amongst solely black musicians. I can never get tired of listening to Rare Earth till I die.
You are 100% right. Heard them for first time, summer before 7th grade, 1968. Everyone thought they were Black being on the Motown Label and having that soulful sound🤙
I love Rare Earth, from the 1st time I listened to their debut album Get Ready, when I was 13 years old. This a darn great album when it came out in 1973,the problem was it didn't get any air play, it wasn't commercial enough for the D.J.s I saw them live in 73 in Sacramento. Over 2 hours of non stop hits 😴🙃😪😑
This is my Uncles Group he was the Conga Player Eddie Guzman he is now in heaven with my mom and dad i was the last one to see him alive. I miss him so much and i know he's watching over me.
My sincere condolences on your loss(es) my friend. Your uncle was a part of something that was a lot bigger than "just being in a band". So be proud :)
This song tells it the way it really is! Life for poor people (financially) in Mississippi but so much more! Great group at a time when there were so many great groups and great musicians!
My old man used to play this song on an 8-track player in his 69’ Mustang with me and my two brothers cramped in the tight quarters of those backseats when I was 7 years old. The song ain’t about my ma or my old man’s ma, but we can all imagine ma like this. 😉

I herd this song on the radio when I was in Big Bear CA, I was totally feeling this jam late at night, I used the app shazam to find the artist. So. Happy I discovered this masterpiece.
A highly underrated band with a very unique sound that really knew how to play their instruments. All the Rare Earth albums were great and this song is a prime example of how good they were.
I am 68 now and I was 20 when I first heard this on my friend's LP Changer in 70's. Even though we couldn't afford those expensive record players I had bought the LP for future and I still have this. Must have heard this thousands of times.

Many from my generation were never exposed to this song by Rare Earth. If you love Motown as I do, you'll fall in love with it. This song goes back to the early 70s, when music was still respectable.
Ever get the the feeling back no matter how far....just listen so beatiful bluesy and real...birds are real and flowers loud.....love ya and the 60...can anyone explain the beaty?
Very under rated band, Motown didn't really know what to do with them, BUT, then came Norman Whitfield with some of his songs, and arrangements, which produced this amazing hybrid sound of funk/rock. Rare Earth's other claim to fame is that, as far as I am aware, they were the only act at Motown to have a label named after them.

Too young when this came about...not my excuse now...waaaa..said the man about ma...me too..my kind of woman...sitting in church...her eye on her tribe..🇨🇦🇨🇦
I grew up in a world were we knew no color. I and my multi-racial soldiers in early 1975 rescued French, SVNC, American POWs. Ireceived no medals, only the emails from the rescued descendants my greatest prize. Believe me friend, it is worth it. Forget the medals and do the right thing by your fellow human.
The benchmark in parenting.... is there anything else today that comes close? Nope.... At the end of the track I always think... is it over already wish it was longer.

Glad I grew up in a world were Rare Earth came to jam. From Get Ready on down through the years. Rock on, brothers.
Ma on a rocking horse…1973, India and had to hide the album cover from my Dad….but he loved this title track!!!

been listening to these guys for 49 years now - says it all - brilliant
It was my first bar show on 25th street in Cleveland and it's my best concert show in my history

Истину глаголишь, эти ребята с прекрасной душой, очень искренние и с огоньком.

They should have used this album cover instead of the other one... which I've always hated!😶🌫️
Extraordinarios. Tremendos temas.🎉

Li ascolto da 50 anni e non mi sono ancora stancato,;un brano assolutamente innovativo per l'epoca e ancora attualissimo.
One of my all time Psychedelic Funk favorites ...
Fantastic and ethereal guitar [lead, rhythm and bass].

Locos estábamos los amigos del barrio por este gran temazo, y aún lo seguimos estando, no me canso de escucharlo.

Using the word underrated is far to overrated, rare earth is NOT underrated and have been. Happy new yr now.

I am 67 now. How could I have missed this all this years? Maybee, because I grew up in Germany and RA was not played enough. What a shame.
Don't dwell on missing it before, but rejoice in finding it now, enjoying it and sharing it with others so that they won't miss out.
Don't feel it as a wasted time then. You have it now and are able to enjoy it now. Have a nice time with it😊
