The Pope is only a human, so if he's teaching contrary to the gospel, he's cursed. The Catholic Church must evaluate his teachings and see if he's fit to be their spiritual leader. He's not the representative of all Christians, so his teachings don't have much value to the rest.
A person may consider rape immoral. But a rapist may look at it as propagating his genes and in the process helping the woman propagate hers too. Since all us evolved, my morality is as good as yours, so nobody should enforce their mortality on another. If we are here today because our ancestors were scared. Then the rapist's descendants have a better chance of survival than a family man's. Just because we became social beings doesn't mean that we must abandon the process by which we are here in the first place. Being nice to others doesn't guarantee our well being. Most powerful people are not nice to others, but they are doing very well!

Without defending Christianity or Bible, from a purely academic point of view, Bible does not say 'Evolution' doesn't happen. The subject is not discussed at all in the Bible anywhere. Secondly, it has been accepted right from the ancient church 'fathers' like Jerome or Aquinas that the books of the Bible were written by humans, but claim had divine inspiration. Along with some other churches, Catholic Church gives the freedom to interpret the Bible literally or metaphorically. This just my academic view.

'Creation' is a word, in any language, whose opposite is NOT 'Evolution'. The two words or their meanings are NOT the opposite of each other in any language that I know of. In purely semantic context they can have a broader meanings, by the way.
To use these words to describe two opposing theories is merely a choice made by people who are not the writers of the book of Genesis. What I mean is the Evolution vs. Creation conflict is an idea that is external to the writings conveyed by writers of the Bible.
My point is that strawman arguments are not good in defending a position that is logical otherwise. I am not speaking from the believer's point of view but merely playing the devil's advocate.
Just see the context. In genesis, it is clearly mentioned that animals, plants and humans are directly created. This is just opposite to evolution.
