For me, the biggest gain of the draynor wall shortcut is the run energy saved, which only really plays out on longer journeys than the examples here. For future shortcut testing it would be interesting to see what your run energy is at the end of the two methods as well :)
Members out here thinking run is the default speed of runesvape. I'll stick to my f2p IM walking and grinding, you can keep your zoomer skilling minigames, powercrept rates, and daily/hourly farming obligations.
I've heard a myth that you get more nests from trees by using a lower tier axe with a less likely cut chance. I believe this stems from some ambiguous wording on the Bird's Nest wiki page, but would love to have this disproven.
@@ProfCube That one in the kourend catacombs near the metal dragons where you have to manually click on every rock is a close contender, legit takes like 15+ seconds to cross
I genuinely though the pet rock moving thing was common knowledge. I’ve always kept 25 multicolored pet rocks in my RS3 POH because o love how they move everytime I go in and out.
Another fun fact about the pet rock. If you out it in your POH in the menagerie, and delete the room, the pet rock will stay on the ground forever. Even after Building another room where the menagerie used to be, or when moving rooms around. It also never despawns. Truly amazing!
@@heymrhimr Fun fact. you don't even need a menagerie for it. You can genuinely just :place the pet rock down: not in the menagerie, and it stays on the ground in your poh. If you have ground items enabled on runelite. The pet rock you "place" on the ground, instead of in the menagerie, is treated as an item and not a pet.

My myth - the goblins are sitting on a massive horde of unknown metal to Glienor: Zinc. Bronze is an alloy made from Copper and Tin. Brass is made from Copper and Zinc. Goblins are the only creature in the game to drop anything made of brass - a brass necklace. How could they have made the necklace without Zinc? Clearly, they have a depot of the stuff that us humans are completely unaware of
Back in the day of rs2, me and my friend always believed that getting an uncut sapphire drop "reset" the potential drops in the drop table and oddly enough, we would get unique drops during the next kill or very close after receiving the uncut sapphires. This happened very commonly during our DKS trips. It felt very coincidental but we always believed it after a while.
There is a hidden benefit With the Draynor shortcut in such cases. Not only is it 3 seconds faster in your tests, It consumes less run energy. about 6-7 energy i think based on what you showed
its the same speed. which is intentional, it wasnt meant to be a "short"cut, it was meant to be a "i cba to click through these annoying aggressive monsters"cut
@@MGX93dot If you die and have to get back to reclaim your items, you'd better be able to use that short cut, or at least be careful running past those minions. I almost died and lost my items like that one time.
The stile shortcut at the Falador cabbage patch actually teaches a valuable lesson about space and time, cause even though just running through the gate is much faster than the stile animation, The Stile is still the fastest way because you get to walk diagonally over the field.
In regards to the fence shortcut, if your destination tile was one more tile north (or north-east even) there would have been no difference in the ticks taken. Character runs at 2t/s and walks as 1t/s. Using the shortcut you were running as you hit the tile, but when going through the gate, you were walking. Essentially, the shortcut is only a ‘shortcut’ if your destination tile is an even amount of tiles away from the fence hop.
This, however, also doesn’t take into account whether your character is walking or running (aka starting an odd vs even amount of tiles away) to the last tile before doing the shortcut.
The chunk loading one can be longer if your client doesn't have certain assets cached. Either on new install or new content, the "Loading, please wait" can be a few ticks longer when teleporting etc.
I've always heard, even back in 2005 staking days, that unpoisoned dragon daggers are more accurate than a dds for specs. I'd love to see if that was actually true or not.
You should compile the results of these into a spreadsheet or wiki article! I was looking for that one video where you test Tirranwn theories (how to successfully pass traps) and couldn't find it the other days
This is one I've never been definitively able to figure out. When you cast NPC Contact, your character will face the direction of that NPC when progressing through dialogue but ONLY if they're on the same level as you (Ex: RuneScape Surface, Catacombs, etc.)
For the tick counting shortcut myths you should have enabled "current tile" on the tile indicator plugin. With that enabled, you only need to count how many times the current tile changes to determine the number of ticks it takes. This is more precise than what you did for a couple reasons. The current tile is always a bit ahead of where your character appears in the animation, so just trying to eyeball where the character is like you did will always be off, and how far it's off can vary with latency. Also, when running your current tile advances along the shortest path two tiles at a time, so if the path is an odd number of tiles, then you will always end up walking the final tile. To compare two paths fairly, you would want to ensure that both paths have an even number of tiles, or at least acknowledge that one path gets you one tile further in a given number of ticks. Changing your methodology to one based on game cycles is definitely an improvement, but you can still do better.
timing different methods of getting places is pretty interesting, like whats the fastest way to get to Taverly dungeon? Also, the skeletal wyvern cave got a new shortcut added, but you're in a black screen for so long that it doesn't feel like an actual shortcut so that would be fun to test.
I have a myth that ive noticed. if i wait a while to do a birdhouse run. I tend to get more nests than if i do them regularly throughout the day. Of course ill end up with a similar amount since im doing them more frequently but, From a single bird house there seems to be more than the more frequently visited ones.
Myth: In the maze random event, it is faster to move it the tile before each door and then click it tick perfect than it is to just click the door. (in the cases where running to the door has you run all the way to the tile and not stop and walk the last one.) Maybe I'm just fooling myself but it feels faster.
at 12:30 the way it works I'm pretty sure is the chunks are loaded in if there is a player there to trigger the chunk to be loaded in with the lag lines in game this would be a perfect test for mythbusters.
One i want to know is if the stepping stone shortcut from the gem mine to duradel is actually quicker than just running around, i assume it would be but a few times i exit the mine the same tick as someone, take the shortcut, but they seem to get to duradel before i do.
Either I'm insane or something is 100% bugged with the resurrect crops spell. I swear like half the time the crops that I resurrect die. My theory is that compost isn't re-applied correctly, even though it tells you it is.
Regarding shortcuts that don’t save you time. I believe the hydra shortcut in Mount Karuulm slayer dungeon is the same time as if you ran, you just aren’t hit by hydras on the way through. And the Per Rock thing, I know you’re being a little cheeky, but whenever you enter your home instance it spawns in the pets on random tiles. You can have multiple “extra” pets in your menagerie up to 12 total. I put a bunch of rocks in for DKs trips and it’s very easy to see they just spawn in rendomly every time you load.
There should be a point where the draynor shortcut does not save time (the more north of draynor you are starting from). It would be interesting to know the breakeven point between the two paths
Make your rock fight another pet. Confirmed baby rock crab. Its definitely alive, when you place it in the fighting arena it will throw up a question mark then a bunch of "frown" =-( faces. I think it even jumped out of the arena the first time I placed another pet in with it. 76 agility and I keep failing the varrock lvl31 stepping stones to draynor there is 4 instances of agility checks (1 for each stone). Almost impossible to cross well on the 2nd and 3rd stone. Always slip.
Myth: after taking breaks from the game, you have better RNG. Ever take a few weeks off and then come back and the drops just roll in? Then not so much a myth, but certain pets will interact with the Cat Tree in your POH. The two I’ve seen are the Hell Puppy and Vorki. Pretty interesting.
Myth: You will recieve more birdnests from birdhouses that has been ready to harvest for a while as opposed to birdhouses that just became ready to harvest. And same with herbpatches?
Ad read made me giggle because I actually was listening to the video with Raycon earbuds. The draynor shortcut got me thinking. Lately, when I TP to Varrock, I've been running north through the castle grounds to get to the GE because it feels faster. Is it actually faster than running west and going behind the bank? EDIT: This is obviously assuming you don't TP directly to the GE.
Here's a myth I've been wondering about forever that I'm still not sure either way about: Does running away from, or into an incoming projectile attack (mage/range) affect the exact time the hit will land on you? (e.g. Does running away from an already airborne dark bow spec make it hit later, therefore giving you more time to eat?)
I am 100% convinced that the Attas seed is bugged. It should increase yield, but it actively decreased it instead. There was a tweet from mod ash a while ago in which he said something fishy was going on, but I can't find conclusive evidence of the contrary. The shortcut to Alchemical Hydra is known to not really save time but its be interesting to see exactly how close it is vs just running past the little hydras.
Myth: If you stand on portal spawn in Guardians of the Rift, can it spawn on top of you or always spawn somewhere else? If it cannot spawn on top of you, what if you cover all of the spawns?
Myth: You can body block a farmer while pickpocketing but someone running underneath you will cause something in the farmers code to update and the block will fail. Not sure if this is a myth really, but would like to have a better understanding of the mechanics behind this.

You can also put the fishbowl in the POH and it moves which makes me think its just some mechanic.
That was fun. Hope you do more.
I was just about to roll over to sleep and saw you uploaded a new video.. how can you do this to me Soupie!! Im sure itll be a banger as always
