Today I learned about Runick Tenpai Dragon
😂
💀
Finally. The best runick variant
Better than Bystial Runick?
@@stefdatboi1481😂
This is the start of "field spell makes you ignore the opponent" and we even see it in the following set with Puppets, as if every competent deck having a ROTA field spell wasn't enough.
Veidos:
They gonna make ashened playable
Veidos
Misc still at 1 tho
glad we're going back to the "skill drain on crack" school of card design
I see we're back to deciding the winner based on revealing their starting hands again.
Poker is my favourite yugioh format.
Always have been
In the OCG, you never have to pick between hand traps and board breakers. Maxx C existing means you always pick hand traps as they are relevant to draw. However, In TCG we often have to decide if we want to break a board or hand trap it, and examining what Tenpai should be doing is something we for sure have to think about
🐐 answer
TCG > OCG 🗑️
Tenpai play BOTH handtraps and board breakers in the deck. Guess what, Maxx C also helps you draw the board breaker lol.
Except DRNM for obvious reason.
The other half of this equation is that if you want to play against Maxx C, you're going to put in Ash Blossom anyways, so you're already 6 cards into being a handtrap pile
Knowing tcg, they will just tech tenpai on turn 1 decks. Turn 2 decks can't exist there.
I think the wildest shit you can probably do with the deck is just some smokescreening. Duel 1 just play Lab and side all of Tenpai in for Duel 2. I love how compact that shit is.
bro I went up against Dino and Voiceless, both of them smokescreened into Tenpai, it's crazy
I am unironically considering siding Battle Fader or Swift Scarecrow
@@Groxworld1 since they can play around them with the new synchro 10, it's better to play Waboku. Extra Lab synergy lol
@@Groxworld1 Voiceless smokescreen into Tenpai is kinda hot ngl 😂

Before: "guys this deck sucks, it's a battle phase archetype"
Now: "the field spell does WHAT???"
I just wanted to summon things in the battle phase. Now it's going to be expensive. Go back to thinking it sucks everyone please.
Konami needs to stop with the "15 1 card combo archetype + 20 hand traps" bullshit.
unless we get a total revamp of the game, i think this is just yugioh forever now. i don't know how you can power creep that
@@MiyaoMeow588 or they can just nuke the entire meta/format and make stronger decks that are weaker to boardbreakers.
@@MiyaoMeow588the next development to that is either having cards that just brush off HTs or having a deck like Tear, where you mostly play engine and where the engine is just so versatile and vast that it trumps 'half-engine, half-techs' decks. Being able to search a tech card or being able to make plays with a tech card is superior to a mere tech card.

Damn, maxx c and shifter make the game way more interactive, trust
Gotta love when TCG exclusives tear up the OCG meta
@@6210classick tbf, OCG and TCG R&D both team up to make the cards. They just release it as a TCG exclusive cuz why not.
That reminds me, Maxx C, Nibiru, and now Shifter. Guess our handtraps are just better than our exclusive archetypes ☠️
Snake-Eye is a symptom of the egregious focus of the evolutionary war between generic Extra Deck disruption pieces/OTKs and the handtraps that stop your opponent from playing the game. Even without Snake-Eye in the equation, Tenpai Dragon will still play the same way and be a top Deck because all they need is 1 of their 18 cards drawn to OTK the opponent and they can fill up the rest of the 22 with Handtraps to shut every possible play your opponent can do down.
Tenpai Dragon represents the evolution of Battle Phase Deck in this evolutionary war of stupidly good generic Extra Deck monsters and Handtraps and it unfortunately leads to the situation of "I win the turn you let me play" even more
But doesn't the viability of handtrap-heavy decks depend on how much handtraps affect the other decks in the format?
its kinda why as much as people hate on it, kash format was great cause most people just ran board breakers.
sure it was a 'draw the out format' but imo it feels a lot better than 'who has enough extenders'. like even josh's boardbreaker snake eyes at the end of the day is still snake eyes.
i honestly cant believe theres people that hate on circular but look at snake eyes and say that theres a difference.
@@xCorvus7x
There are more Handtraps than Ash and Imperm tbf, and the variety of Handtraps that are playable each format varies a lot. Droll is an excellent example of this since it's either unplayable or the most broken thing in the format. D.D. Crow and Ghost Belle can also end up being the best Handtraps of the format if there's a lot of Decks that have key GY interactions that they don't want interrupted. And if Boardbreakers end up being popular, Tenpai Dragons can add more of those in too because the core engine is flexible. Either way, the range of Handtraps existing shows that there will never be a format in where Handtraps are never good. Weaker than other options yes, but never a bad addition if it stops your opponent from achieving certain plays
@@yaminegira9239nah, tear format was the best format. It was skill based and the way the deck worked you couldn’t stop it with a single handtrap(except shifter in most cases but not all) and or board breaker, you had to break the board with engine. Board breaker formats arent that great imo because it doesn’t feel good to just win or lose from one or two drawn board breakers and tearlament format didn’t allow you to focus hard on one way or another, it was interactive all the time, every game.
@@yaminegira9239I wil be admitting you into the asylum.
You have to play a billion hand traps, because every deck plays through one hand trap. And if someone manages to combo going 1st, then they put up so many interactions that its basically an FTK. Boards are just getting harder and harder to break with each format.
It’s clearly time for Konami to make a new board breaker then
@@WhatsUrName0o7 Wrong, it's time for Rush Duels, both on paper and in MD.
Goat and Edison, then Vegas and Tengu are duperior to that Ps1 yugioh you call Rush @@bobbykuhn4582

@@blastchaos4286 Can't save what's beyond saving.
This deck is gonna be hell on Master Duel’s BO1 format
Numeron with Heat Wave and 20 hand traps, just shoot me and get it over with.
I might, seriously, dismantle my numeron deck for this. It seems strictly better.
Players with a million hand traps already crafted are gonna dominate. Newbs are going to be more isolated from the game than ever because hand traps are almost all UR and there hasn’t been a “Rarity Collection” for MD that would provide hand traps in a convenient location.
@@PyckledNyk Which, unfortunately, Konami is probably aware of and ok with because they've gotten tired of how generous the f2p aspect of this game has been. I haven't put in a single cent on my account but I've been playing since the game released. Like you mentioned, there will be a clear f2p wall for newer players once some of these decks hit.
I love how the viability of modern yugioh decks literally boils down to how many handtraps you can squeeze into a list and nothing else. It doesn't even matter what the deck does as long as it can one card combo and can run 15+ non engine.
I wished @Ignister was meta because of that.
Not always, but some formats yes
The thing with these decklists is sometimes they’ll just win, that’s a fact. It’ll happen. They’ll open crazy and you won’t open enough. That won’t be a majority of games though.
If the format continues to look this way, we’ll see a rise in Crossout, Called by, as well as Talents & Thrust to punish the number of handtraps being thrown around.
A lot of the innovation going forward is going to be in deckbuilding and not gameplay. This is going to be for making the deck that is most resilient to handtraps.
On your end what you should do is: Decide what non-engine cards are common in the meta, if you’re going to play around them, & how you’re going to address them.
@@masterh2o2ignister always gets random tops in ocg
That's because even if you run board breakers, you still need to have an actual deck engine to build towards and the remaining cards in your opponents hand will be handtraps. So handtraps are more economical cars advantage wise than board breakers.
Also, Happy Easter everyone

Time to start siding in fucking Dragon Capture Jar I guess.
Edit: It's actually hilarious to me that out of all the joke responses this comment's gotten, Dragon Capture Jar is arguably still the best choice. Modern meta archetypes are so compact that you can now actually just play it in the meme deck of all hand traps and it's actually good.
1:12 - The year is 202x. Yugioh has grown so fast that handtraps are the only possible response to every deck's speed, and a perfect mix of engine and non-engine is required to succeed. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on opening hands and the coin flip. Players have grown ridiculously skilled at manipulating their decks perfectly, watching their opponents shuffle, and flipping/predicting flung coins all without sleight of hand due to them being the only remaining factors in deciding matches.
Tenpai gonna be a menace in Master Duel
Happy Easter Joshua
This is what War Rocks should've been.
They weren't dragons though, so 6-year-olds are more likely to like this one
The turn one board is either heatwave and shifter pass
or its seals, ultimaya, tax dragon, then quick synchro into a baronne or a crystal wing on opponents turn with necrovalley.

@@6210classick Assault Blak Winged Dragon
@@6210classick Black-Winged Assault Dragon
This is honestly side effect from two things
1-How disgustingly strong and punishing decks are to other decks when you brick, even none meta decks with their current support can easily develop OTK fields like it's nothing
2-Tech cards becoming so stupidly powerful as a way to deal with it
As a result the best decks need 1 of 2 things
1-a small self efficent engine so they can fit in as much tech cards as possible to counter other meta decks
2-cards in their archetype that are so good to the point they dont even miss using the powerful tech cards
If you are neither of these things you wont be meta right now, the game desperately needs to slow down
Bro finally!
Depending on what you are willing to spend extra deck slots on you can actually go first with this deck. Going first any 2 card combo except the two spells lets you go into Ancient fairy dragon and set up necrovalley. Using AFD and the lvl 7 Tuner Synchro you summon Tzolkien which summons Black Winged Dragon. Make seals with Black Winged Dragon and one of the maindeck dragons that got revived by the Tuner. Finally banish Black Winged Dragon and Bident Dragion from the grave to summon Black Winged Assault Dragon
This way you end on the Tax Dragon, Seals and Necrovalley. On top of that Seals will summon Baidora from deck on your oppoenents turn, which then will set a spell to your board, triggering Tzolkien again. You can then Summon Shooting Riser Dragon to quick synchro into any lvl 10 (usually Baronne). Not bad considering you only really have to run the 1 necrovalley in the main to make this board possible. All those snychros do make your deck weaker to D-barrier however.
Doesn’t necrovalley stop some of their summons in battle phase?
@@ItSpooling_ yes but you wont ever enter battle with nercovalley up. you simply activate another Brimming Sangen Manor turn 3 and otk as usual. The quickplay spell you set off Baidora during turn 2 searches another Baidora, which in turn gets you the field spell.
the meta doesnt care about enjoyment it cares about winning. and if handtraps win thats the way the format will shape up to be. its kinda like evolution in that way. what works sticks and what doesnt doesnt.
Yeah, except evolution has no one controlling it. Yugioh is still decided by Konami, they can change the way the game is played, they decide the banlist, they print the cards.
@@MahaXad thats what the liberal agenda wants you to think.. if you actually used your god given senses and tuned into the frequencies you could also spontaniously evolve and open your third eye.. your SNAKE EYE! everything is connected and we are all too focused on card games to realise! You sleep while THEY live
@@MahaXad we've seen with tear players that it doesn't matter how much you try and murder a deck. People are gonna find some weird ass synergies and be able to do stupidly well with them
@@zeothesnowwolf2937 Because tearlaments was a tier 0 deck from 2022 to begin with, not yet powercrept. And deck milling existed 15 years ago.
Best example of Konami deciding the meta is ritual and pendulum summons. Konami decides when ritual based decks are meta, examples nekroz and drytron herald. Pendulum summoning was so busted when it was released, they were forced to change the master rules for pendulum summoning from the extra deck. So yeah, Konami decides how the game is played 90% of the time. The other 10% is player creativity.
"Why aren't they surrendering?"
Because you're not allowed to concede in the OCG. Why? Who knows, weird rules. This was especially bad in Tearlaments format where sometimes it was impossible to hit game 3.
11:01 BASED BASED BASED
6:45 Those handtraps need more deck... LITERALLY
The thing is the tuner red dragon, while summoning the searcher white dragon resolving their effects in damage step, so they're immune to Ash, only way to stop them is imperm the red tuner dragon on the board, assuming there's no other dragons on the field
Modern tenpai dragon has shifted to setting up Secret Village if they go first game 2, by making AFD, specialling one of the many level 3 hand trap tuners, then making nirvana high paladin for the spellcaster requirement.
Swift Scarecrow and Battle Fader could unironically see play after this deck comes out. It's very likely they attack directly before they get the synchro out that stops you from activating effects so the cards could definitely work.
Those 2 are bad, Shadow Mosquito is better
Based on what I was seeing there the deck puts up game through Prosperity which is insane.
Feel like this is barreling toward a hard reset type of change to the game. Whether through a massive banlist or through a new master rule or something, it just feels like that's where this is headed
Or just killing the game so that they can focus on pachinko like they did with silent hill.
@randombadchannel8700 again, konami isn't a company that prioritize foreign market and they don't make much money off pachinko AND their biggest games aren't even in English, outsold both xenoblade and elden rings in Japan, quess the name?
Momotaro dentetsu and power pro.
Go search off it by yourself if you didn't believe me.
they have a hard reset it rush duel we just not getting it
a sneaky part about what makes the deck hard to play against is that the main deck monsters arent once per turn. I remember going forst against them and getting more board shredded by board breakers but i thought i was ok cuz i negated the tuner that special summons. Nope, they were able to reborn it somehow and do their standard combo. I like that they're making the battle phase relevant but it doesn't feel play against something that has a field spell that discourages interaction, few once per turns and then hits you for 30K damage
can't wait for today i learned about tenpai runick. i know josh is gonna make it work somehow
This deck is crazy cuz it can also play shifter. It can lose to back row really hard though. Definitely something I wanna play when it comes out!
I just found back to yu gi oh and saw these broken decks like snake eye and fire kings its just frustrating to play against.keep the work up josh
happy haircut everyone
This is literally the Prankid Effect. A new deck that works outside the norm of the meta. Once we may become familiar this deck is going to get accelerated to a breaking point where it is no longer an issue without new support.
Konomi really saw that meme about making a deck of pure hand traps and said “bet.”
Battle Fader seeing its time has finally come😂
I guess we probably will just eventually get a deck will play nothing but handtraps but still can otk the opponent.
Fun.
yup, when the mini game becomes the actual game
I'm a OCG player, and using 3 roar ,dimensinoal barrier in my side to fight against Tenpai. Triple Tactics Thrust also helps a lot. Give up the 1st is still a bad idea.

@@Xero-rr2ol the deck literally has a 83% chance to open 3 handtraps every single time most decks cannot play through 2 let alone 3 or more. This deck engine is ALL one card otk.
This is by far the best thing coming out of legacy
@@timbahr1792 i will be genuinly surprised if they don't end up all secret/ultra for this reason. Rip wallet.
Going 2nd sure, since they can play through hand traps, break boards and OTK in the battle phase even under Pot of Prosperity. Only thing they really need to worry about is D. Barrier hence all the anti-S/T cards on the side
Going 1st, they make weak end board ( one monster on board) and rely primarily on hand traps or side decked cards like Heat Wave and Kaizer Colosseum to get to the the next turn, which can be played around by fire decks by stuff like Triple Tactics cards and generally by extenders. Still, it's one of the few decks that can run D. Shifter which is basically a blowout against majority of decks.
It's still a great deck, but it's not just some deck you can easily pilot compared to Snake Eyes or Fire King where you can focus on building a board.
@@gabrielarocena3074D-Barrier is why you run the Princess into Raging Phoenix into Worldsea line in your Extra Deck. D-Barrier can call Synchro, but it can’t call Link.

Runick goes so crazy in this deck
If they make you go first you side in Heat wave and they can't summon monsters period until your next draw phase then you just OTK them as usual.
I’m glad I bought a Dragion when they were revealed
I don’t doubt it, misc is a helluva card
Tempai dragons featuring DK Country
I think voiceless voice may actually have a decent match up against this. My issue is voiceless does not play well in to real hand trap situations. Idk I think this deck is tier 0 if it opens the field spell. Good thing we don't have Maxx c and have no since like 12 years ago. However, this deck being able to kill you and Shifter you is nuts. Even without those options this deck is insane. 22 hand traps without snake eye opening perfect makes it the better deck. It is the equivalent to voiceless vs snake eye. If snake eyes will have a chance to beat this they will need to be at full power. Making it go first is not enough as they can play the black goat and ht you out the game with seal pass. And basically play off 1 extra card and still win. Plus it's next turn draw. So you loose regardless. The best way to beat this deck with snake eyes honestly is to build very heavy go first builds but the issue with this is you become weaker to loosing the die roll against decks like Voiceless Voice. I think a deck that will be able to handle this deck decently is one that can put up enough bodies to get to the next turn through hand traps. Snake eyes can do this so there may be hope. Fire king will be it's worse match up. As the deck has to deal with too many pops for it's field spell, arvata and the rest of the board. This deck is probably more susceptible to hand traps than fire king and snake eyes. That is it's weakness. Cards like ogre will be fantastic against it because it needs all its bodies early in its combo.
I think you can/could do something similar with Superheavy Samurai.
With enough hand traps and extenders world chalice can prolly be good.
Labrynth teching threatening roar is the new meta
Welcome to OCG, you never knew what sht is good until we cook it

I really wanna play this deck
We need to bring back tear to counter the fires XD
Remember when we said Tear was ahead of its time and too strong for the competing decks in the format? That we had to wait a long time until it's possible to unban some cards?
I didn't think we would reach that point in time so effin fast...
Not to set the names to 3, but to 2 maybe and Kit to 1. Also probably Ariseheart to 1 to keep Tear in check and get some competition for Snake-Eye in the format.
With the upcoming Tenpai Dragons that would be a format I'd like to see.
I remember 10 years ago hearing people describe the Dark Matter Dragon Ruler deck as “ahead of its time” because it could easily put over 12000 damage on board and I think we’ve finally reached that peak again
since i do run a blue eyes deck ill put super poly in my side and put in five headed dragon so that sould mess up there strategy lol

Unironically considering siding Waboku because of Tenpai
Konami should seriously increase the limit per card to 4 so I can Kan my dragon cards.
Max c with tons of hand trap and mostly just handtraps
The best strategy when you go first is putting 15 Voiceless Voice cards from your side deck and kicking off all the Tenpai Dragons
I have tried kashtira when I go first in ocg, making Arise Heart still needs 2-card combo and Arise Heart may limits your Tenpai Dragon to otk in turn 3. Rather, Voiceless Voice is a good choice for side engine in ocg, and someone really used that in competitions. In tcg you don't have Arise Heart but have 3 fenrir and 3 unicorn, kashtira maybe a good choice.
OCG can’t surrender

Wtf 😂 yeah this shit tier 0
Love how the prosperity half damage effect doesn’t matter to this deck. Definitely going to use it in this deck.
It’s the same as how the banish 10 effect of desires didn’t matter in swordsoul but was actually a benefit
WTF i thought I was 15-16k through prosperity not quadruple over lethal
Idk after learning and playing the deck last night it's Def not tier 0 it is probably in the same bracket as voiceless if not worse. I don't think it is that good. It relies too heavily on the spell card for otk. It sucks horribly at going 1st its rogue match up is horrendous.
It struggles with veiler, Impermanence and ogre slaughters the deck
Should I be happy that I get to play with awesome FIRE dragons or scared because we now have an archetype that can do so much with little cards lost and the fact that newer decks are getting filled to the brim with handtraps, thus neglecting room for a web of strategies? Hmmm........
It seems like maybe Tenpai might be fun. It seems like it doesn't hard lose to maxx c.
The deck is powerful but if you hit anyone not playing floo with the shifter Maxx C combo you win.
I think im on the horizon of taking a break, I'm lucky my locals has moved away from snake eye but if i ever go to higher forms of play ill probably not enjoy it lol
Genuine question, how do TCG games play out if Konami limits/bans most, or all, 1 for 1 handtraps (ash, veiler, imperm etc) and all Floodgates.
Is it just firewall turbo, are formats allowed to be more diverse or do we go and spam free material into generic bosses as we do now?
Probably we end up getting fucked by some kind of 6 negates can’t play deck.
Only maxx C is banned. We have 3 of every other handtrap and always have?
