I REALLY WANT A REMASTERED FH1!!! This is by far the BEST horizon game, I’m currently playing through the story mode again. Oh man SO many memories about this game.
Forza Horizon 1. Back when games actually had a sense of progression, and getting A-tier and S-tier cars didn't occur until late game, vs now where you can just get them by chance, or because you spent 10 extra dollars on a special edition. The later games feel more like a checklist than an adventure. The first game had a list of, I forget, 175 other racers you had to surpass along with bosses? I miss that.
The fact that the super duty in this game sounds more accurate than the new one in FH5 speaks AND IT WASN'T MEANT TO BE DRIVEN! That alone makes FH1 speak for itself.

The Traffic cars are like, genuinely phenomenal. I kinda wish that theyd increase traffic variety or just add more goofy basic commuter cars like that Chevy box van and give it a Ls swap option
I agree, I feel like the traffic variety in FH5 is very limited and questionable. There's a lot of traffic cars imported straight from FH3 that really don't reflect the type of cars you'd see on Mexican roads.

Used to do drag races on the bridge after the Finlay Dam Outpost in cars below A class. 5:20 in this video. Made you really think of what upgrades you had to install for best launch since you couldn't tune your parts. Also did drag races in the tunnel under the Dam in similar classed cars. Good times and really taught me how to balance a build with the limitations of the time.
Now fast forward a decade later and in FH5 it’s nearly impossible to find realistic drag races. If you do find one you better have the meta car with a UA-cam tune and a 10 speed transmission because that’s what all the 12 year olds that play FH5 use it’s annoying and so unfun main reason I despise FH5 the game is good but has weird design decisions and the community might as well be all NPCs.

I agree with Horizon 1 but I’d remove FH2 and replace it with FM4. I don’t think Horizon 2 is the masterpiece many fans make it out to be. It drastically reduced the progression/story system and introduced the rubbish online Road Trip/Adventure system. 2 is still far better than 4 or 5, but I don’t think it touches 1.
Is it really that worse in fh5? Last time i played it it felt pretty fast driving a isetta 360km/h. I guess i gotta check on YT cause i dont have the game on my pc anymore

I don’t care if it delays horizon 6 a year, I want this game remastered. Properly remastered not just made hd. Remake the exact same map but with todays graphics, add rally and offroad areas but don’t change main part of map, bring back as many cars as possible, bring back the crazy upgrade system that didn’t really limit any cars like how Bugattis are limited now. And one the most important things, bring back rve d online system and it’s modes. Miss free world mode and cat and mouse
Fun fact about the Ford Taurus SHO, it actually has hidden engine upgrades, if you'd buy one on fm4, max it out, save the tune setup, extract it with horizon, and save a setup on fh1 with no upgrades, and replaced it with fm4. It would have like 700hp instead of 300
I wish Forza didn’t include so many cars as they do. Back then - less cars, but more care went into them. Just listen to the sounds man, Most Wanted 2005 for example. Still among the very best sound design ever!

Haven’t got a copy of most wanted but went back to nfsu2 recently and am genuinely blown away with how good it sounds. Tbf it is better than this, better than any gt game, better than asetto corsa etc somehow those games just sounded amazing.
I’ve been playing it on the series x and it really doesn’t look that bad. Some sounds are dated but that’s it (some sounds are a bit laggy) But I’ve noticed the 240Z sound’s idle in Fh1 is the same in 5. Also the music on car transitions is awesome
1:10 another great FH1 feature, you can only swap between engines from the same manufacturer, for example changing the F50 motor to the F50 GT or the 69 charger V8 to the 2010s charger, and no puting a V10 or V12 in whatever car like a VW Beetle or Type 2
Which is stupid to be honest. You can swap an LS into basically anything from Miatas to Supras. If your car is Rwd it fits an LS. Doesnt matter if its GM or not. But that is just only one example.
The most impressive part about Horizon (or more so disappointing about newer Horizons) is that the only noticeable graphics differences are reflection/light effects ,polygon numbers, texture details, and amount of filled map/environment.

How did the Ascari not make the best sounding cars list. That was one of the only cars that had deep bass when idling and sounded insane at the top end. They should re release this game with all the barriers removed though for sure.

This game was a masterpiece! It had a real fesrival vibe, the map was great, small but superb car list, the best engine sounds of the series, a banger soundtrack. No wonder i spent most time in fh1
The wheel offsets/fitment were so much better in FH1, Funny how the devs could copy and paste old car models which were bad (S15) for example, but couldn't at least re-use the old wheel models which looked a lot better, especially the Te37s and Rotas
FM4 and FH1 were such a good combo back then. They complimented eachother so well. Best games in the series by far. I have fond memories of FM 2 & 3 as well but the ladder blew them away. Also I really enjoyed FH3. Car sounds have gotten a lot worse over the years. Less time and effort put into making them unique. FH5 you can tell they have a base set of engine sounds which they artificially modify to sound unique. When you switch engines quickly and Rev, the game literally shows you this in bug form. You'll switch to a racing V8, the Audio will only partially load for a second. Which results in this half sounding 4 cyl sound etc. Same thing for V6/i6 swaps. Except it's a different V6 sound. It's like they took a base sound, layer it, then adjust the pitch/resonance. Then add spooly boi noises that sound the same on almost all cars.
Half of the forza community: saying how they was there for FH1 and FH2 and saying how old they are Me: who's 23 and was late to FH1 and FH2 so his first horizon game was FH3 but still played FH1 and FH2 and even though I missed out on so much in FH1 and FH2 yeah I'm also old 😅 Jokes aside I'm really glad that I've joined in the wonderful,cool,and friendly community that is Forza. And also am I the only one who wants to see Ford explorer and the Toyota rav4 to be in FH5?
With all the remakes these days I’d actually be perfectly happy with the next horizon game being a proper remake of Horizon 1. Keeping all the cool features (parts discount signs, the story, the cars, the festival vibe, actual vtec cut in etc) but with all the extra customisation, weather features and the genuinely good parts of the new games included as well.
I have been interested in a sim racing rig for a while but due to several reasons (cost, available space (believe it or not I live on a boat w/my wife 3 kids and a dog) and available power (off grid)) it's not at all feasible. A couple of months back a mate asked if anyone wanted this Xbox 360 a workmate was giving away, I thought why not...I picked up a mint condition wireless wheel and pedals locally for £20 and copies of this, FM3, Dirt 3 F1 '11 and Grid for pennies. I'm certain it's not anything like a decent sim rig but given my situation and the outlay I'm pretty pleased with it. Having never has the opportunity to try a decent setup before I was particularly surprised by how effective the force feedback was on the wheel. And this game particularly is so pretty. Also rather taken aback by just how hard it is to just keep the car on the road in Dirt 3.
Got FH1 for christmas that year. My uncle felt like he needed to try it first so I had to watch him play about 10 minutes worth. Still a lot of good memories. Time fucking flies.
The problem isnt really the DEVs are lazy. They just rely too much on the console for everything. They think 8K automatically means more realism OR RAY-tracing means more beautiful graphics. No there needs to be more self reliance of the DEVs. FM8 looks so similar but even less realistic to FM4. We need to stop the Vignette and they chalky aesthetic. We also need to stop the warmth change/exaggeration. We need natural lighting, a more realistic 3rd camera perspective and custom button postions. Furthermore,we dont need the same graphics engine from 3 years ago. We are on a new gen console, we dont need to just get FM6 the 3rd time in a row
i actully have fh1 because ive had the 360 for a long time now and i once went to my friends house to try out fh4 because i wanted an upgrade and I immediatly hated it on how little customization there was and fh1 just pumps more adrenaline through me cuz I love the sense of speed.
Another thing I love about FH is that any car could be built to X-Class and engine swaps would say what car the engine is from I would have so much fun building 1000+hp machines and actually trying to racing them against the Super and Hypercars of the game in the X-Class events
In regards to sound, the koenigsegg ccxr and the hyura's interior sounds were peak...especially the whine of the supercharged on the ccxr and the turbo spools on the huyra
I feel old being someone who played Need For Speed II and Test Drive 4 (two 1997 releases that I played a lot) later in 1999 I got heavily into Midtown Madness 1 and later 2, oh man and in 2003, very close to when I was turning into a Teen in perfect timing came the first Need for Speed Underground.

The sense of speed in this game is unmatched. It really feels dangerous speeding down the highway at 150mph

I dislike that, limits builds a lot. Wanna build a LS Sagaris? Well you cant.
You also missed that in the campaign the racers weren't just random NPCs, they had individual characters and characteristics that worldbuilt the game.

The infected mode in FH1 multiplayer was literally the most fun I had online playing a FH game.

With all the remakes these days I’d actually be perfectly happy with the next horizon game being a proper remake of Horizon 1.
Keeping all the cool features (parts discount signs, the story, the cars, the festival vibe, actual vtec cut in etc) but with all the extra customisation, weather features and the genuinely good parts of the new games included as well.

I have been interested in a sim racing rig for a while but due to several reasons (cost, available space (believe it or not I live on a boat w/my wife 3 kids and a dog) and available power (off grid)) it's not at all feasible.
A couple of months back a mate asked if anyone wanted this Xbox 360 a workmate was giving away, I thought why not...I picked up a mint condition wireless wheel and pedals locally for £20 and copies of this, FM3, Dirt 3 F1 '11 and Grid for pennies. I'm certain it's not anything like a decent sim rig but given my situation and the outlay I'm pretty pleased with it. Having never has the opportunity to try a decent setup before I was particularly surprised by how effective the force feedback was on the wheel. And this game particularly is so pretty. Also rather taken aback by just how hard it is to just keep the car on the road in Dirt 3.
and yet the crx still doesnt have a full kit. no side skirts til now. love the vids🔥🔰

Got FH1 for christmas that year. My uncle felt like he needed to try it first so I had to watch him play about 10 minutes worth.

The problem isnt really the DEVs are lazy. They just rely too much on the console for everything. They think 8K automatically means more realism OR RAY-tracing means more beautiful graphics. No there needs to be more self reliance of the DEVs. FM8 looks so similar but even less realistic to FM4. We need to stop the Vignette and they chalky aesthetic. We also need to stop the warmth change/exaggeration. We need natural lighting, a more realistic 3rd camera perspective and custom button postions. Furthermore,we dont need the same graphics engine from 3 years ago. We are on a new gen console, we dont need to just get FM6 the 3rd time in a row

i actully have fh1 because ive had the 360 for a long time now and i once went to my friends house to try out fh4 because i wanted an upgrade and I immediatly hated it on how little customization there was and fh1 just pumps more adrenaline through me cuz I love the sense of speed.

I remember playing Forza Horizon 1 for the first time. Still have my first Xbox 360 that I played it on. Wish they never stopped the online servers.
The yukon actually sounds like 6.0 v8 it came with and the 2008 f250 actually sounded like a powerstroke
That f350 diesel sound sounded so good way better than the f450 in fh5

I would have so much fun building 1000+hp machines and actually trying to racing them against the Super and Hypercars of the game in the X-Class events

FH1 didn’t have X Class. It’s highest car class system was R1 which had limits. The only car you could get to R1 999 was the Joss.
The traffic variety is so much better than nowadays it’s the details that modern forza lacks now.
Even most of the traffic cars sound amazing
I’m so happy the F50 GT made it into Horizon 1. A video game star made iconic by Project Gotham racing and a legacy continued into the horizon games

In regards to sound, the koenigsegg ccxr and the hyura's interior sounds were peak...especially the whine of the supercharged on the ccxr and the turbo spools on the huyra

I feel old being someone who played Need For Speed II and Test Drive 4 (two 1997 releases that I played a lot) later in 1999 I got heavily into Midtown Madness 1 and later 2, oh man and in 2003, very close to when I was turning into a Teen in perfect timing came the first Need for Speed Underground.
