Who is Nipsey Hussle? Nipsey Hussle was a rapper and songwriter from Los Angeles, California. He was born on August 15, 1985 as Ermias Asghedom. Nipsey Hussle released his first mixtape, "Slauson Boy Volume 1," in 2005 and later gained widespread recognition with the release of his debut studio album, "Victory Lap," in 2018. He was known for his activism in his community and for his efforts to help young people in South Los Angeles.
What happened to Nipsey Hussle? Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed on March 31, 2019, in front of his store, The Marathon Clothing, in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. He was 33 years old. The suspected shooter, Eric Holder, was later arrested and charged with murder. The motive for the shooting is believed to be personal, and Holder pleaded not guilty to the charge. Nipsey Hussle's death was met with widespread shock and grief, and he was mourned by fans, fellow musicians, and people around the world.

Met Nip on the corner of Crenshaw and Slauson at the Shell gas station in 2013. I was getting out of the car and he approached me with his homies to buy his mixtape. One of the best decisions I ever made in my life, bc after meeting him and his brother, I sought out his music over the years and it became the background music to my successes while I accomplished my goals and ambitions. I'm an old white guy. I hadn't heard of him until the day he died. The more I learn about him, the more I realize just what the world has lost. Someone posted a list of 50 books from his book club, and I had already read 30 of them. We are so different, but I find so many of his lyrics relatable. Seeing this brought me to tears. As different as we are, the more I hear him talk, the more I feel I lost a brother I never knew.
