I wish my dad was still around as he would love to come visit my new plot. Part of the reason I got it was it reminds me of helping him on his plot 25 years ago ❤️ good vid.
Thank you so very much for this vidoe................. we have been trying to get rid of our weeds for a while now...........will now buy a pitch fork and follow your instruction. How lovely that you can work with your dad....... put a smile on my face....... all the way from Australia :)
Evil Bindweed!! Started helping out a friend in allotment and it had trees covered in bindweed jungle and nettles too. I have a machete so its all good fun. Thanks for letting us see your allotments Sir's :)
incidentally If you bagged up the rubbish as you were going along it would save you so much time clearing up and separate the bindweed for burning or disposal as you go along because as you scrape the waste up bits will break up and spread...so easily.... stick worms in your grass waste bags and let them do the work for you..... a few weeks down the line lovely compost.
Mr Sam the Allotment Man & Dad! LOL Nice to see the both of you working together. Now a days parents don't have time for their kids since they waste all day on Facebook and twitter LOL :-) I was wondering what sort of restrictions do they have in the agreements to obtain an allotment? I wouldn't want one next to someone spraying chemicals everyday on theirs. Someone mentioned, I think on Rickvanman, that you can't take the soil away which makes sense. Just wondering since there is no allotments around here in New York by me Thanks and good luck! Tim
Hi thanks for the nice comments. there are not many restrictions. but most people who do allotments don't use many (if any) chemicals. Its just how they are!! We are using a weed killer initially, but that all. We are DOBO's (Do Our Best Organically) Thats right, you cannot take soil away (if you did you would just have a big hole which is hard to grow things in) or sell the produce that you grow. Apart from that its pretty easy going. And the rent is about £30 a year!! What's not to like? You could start an allotment on you skyscraper roof LOL:) Best wishes Sam's Dad
I have an allotment covered in grass, I keep finding weed suppressant. My soil is like clay so is coming up in clumps and I can't separate it. Do i put to one side and let it dry out?
Yes, you can certainly do that. But the first time I clear an allotment I use a weed killer.I know it isn't the done thing these days but you only need to do it once. Take care and happy growing Sam
Er that allotment is NO WAY NEAR as messy as my allotment, its actually quite an easy job compared to mine! If you seriously think that's messy you dont know shit bro!

Thats a great idea about the worms. Might give that a go
Great video, like your style!
Lovely !
What about a weed-eater and then a lawnmower with a bagger attachment on it? Are power tools allowed on allotments?
About to start my new allotment tomorrow morning (Sunday 11th October 2020)
Bit of a mess.
Hopefully I won't disturb any Body

This is 4 years old? Why has it taken so long to show in m y search? Goldfish memories at G.
Nice Tilth.
If youd ever actually dealt with a decomposing dead human body , you probably wouldn't think it was a 'joke' to find one !
