Hi Judy - thank you for those tips. I may need to do some of that when I get my yarn out of storage.

Yay for baking soda (bi carb?). I glad you got the smell out. I had to deal with yarn from a heavier scented place. I wish I ha those tips.

Great tips on removing smells from yarn. I got some Noro yarn recently that has a faint manufacturing smell. May try the soda tip.

Always have a little tiny plate of bicarbonate in my fridge, it keeps strong smells at bay.
Glad you got your yarn sorted. Be interested to know if it takes the smell out of the Woolworths yarn with it being man-made materials.

Great to know!👍 Bicarb soda & vinegar are my staples for just about everything related to cleaning & getting rid of chemical smells due to my MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities) so I'm not surprised to hear bicarb soda worked best!🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

Thank you so much! Hubby brought home a HUGE bag of acrylic yarn- full skeins that I will probably use 5 pounds of Bicarb!!! Lol. Now…. Time for a sealable tote or 2…

If the yarn can be washed (hand or machine) put some vinegar in the wash water and in the rinse water put a little fabric softener and vinegar. This will completely remove any smell in the yarn. It will also remove old musty, moldy smell from clothing as well.

Your noro yarn is lovely! I'm happy that you were able to get the smell out and will now be able to use it. I will remember that tip.
The yarn you have over-dyed looks great!

Thanks for the tips, and I love that you could get rid of the smell with bicarb soda, that seems the easiest way too. God bless you Judy. 🙏❤️🤗

Thanks so much for sharing, but what is bicarb soda…is that the same as baking soda?
