The Flanker is my favorite modern Eastern jet. One of the most beautiful designs aviation has ever seen, it’s like watching a swan or Blue Herron with combat capabilities.
Su30 was actually developed due to the Indian purchase of the jet. India needed a heavy fighter, and the russian SU27 was selected, however, the IAF asked the Russians ro heavily modify it, india also bought french and Israeli avionics for their program. The jet that turned out was so much better the the original one that russia ended replacing the earlier variants. Calling the new one Su30. They have modernized su27 called su27M ss well though, if I'm not wrong.
they already had su-30 in the 90s ,before india asked them about su-30mki , su-30mki was built to fullfill the needs of iaf , it featured N011m bars pesa radar , thrust vectoring (2D) , french hud and israeli avionics. su-30sm was based on the su30mki and had the same radar/tvc engine , then they built su30sm2 with better radar , better engines (more thrust)
As fun as these are to watch war isn't fair if you are doing it right. Neither of these planes would go into combat on equal footing unless there was no other choice. Both would do everything to maximise their own advantages while trying to minimise any advantage the enemy had. Most planes these days fire from the safety of their own aircover and never cross the line into enemy airspace unless they are 1000% sure it is completely empty of any ground or air threats. The idea of any plane doing some deep strike mission is just completely unrealistic against any peer or near peer opponent. Basically, they will throw missiles at each other from long range, then return home hoping that the other guy didn't didn't make it out. Still good video, and good to gain a better understanding of modern weapons.
Does the Su-30MKM have engines with 20% reduced thrust? Do you know why its thrust is reduced by 18-20% compared to the Su-30SM? Is it only because it is an export variant or because the Malaysians didn't want to pay more? @Gonky, one last question: considering that the Su-30SM has approximately 18% more thrust, does this make it the best dogfighter (guns only)?
The MKM has 55.000 pounds of thrust compared to 70.000 of the Su-57 and 60.000 or so of the Su-35… So no, the MKM is not the best dogfighter, but among the best for sure.
Why are all these people asking questions he absolutely can't answer... Y'all are asking him questions that only a Flanker Pilot could answer and like he said they kept to themselves, were in an entirely different part of the country, and didn't tell him anything about the aircraft.
The Su-30SM uses AL-41F-1s, not the Su-30MKM's AL-31FPs. The Su-30SM also features thrust vectoring, which the 30MKM lacks. It would completely destroy the MKM in a guns-only fight.
@@RedTail1-1 Because they're easy questions? You (yes... you) can find the answer with literally 30 seconds of internet searches. You don't need to be a pilot to name an engine model? Do I need to own a Ford to tell you the difference between an F250 and an F350? They sure do LOOK the same, but I guess I have to own one and drive it to be able to answer that...

a stand alone 1 on 1 fight might never happen. these competing jets will always come with their friends and entourage. AWACS, EW , ground control, satellite, ground based air defenses radars etc which complicate the fight. these supporting factors will come into play on top of pilot proficiency, his training and the type of jet he is flying and whether he is aggressor or defender and how much of his own (or his support/ control) coms/ systems are jammed or working.
No need to compare against the F18D because these SU30MKM are the same aircrafts that thrashed the F22 5-0 in the 2022 Ops Typhoon Inter Pacific War Games over the Malaysia skies. The F 22 has just no answer to formidable SU30 MKM.
Absolutely! And comparing the 18's with a 57 is just no comparison at all! The Russian Aviation Institute has mastered directional thrust vectoring and lifting body structuring.

As a fan of eastern aircraft I agree.
Also why did this comment remind me of ace combat?
The Flanker is beautiful but I also just love the MiG-29, such a cool aircraft.

An airborne flanker and F-22 in the same photograph. Geek out moment.
Thanks for the video! for people who are not pilots, this video is also unique, I really liked it!
This must be the best video made on the subject matter and for people who have at least some kind of understanding of what's going on i.e. not for TV
Love love love! As a former legacy Hornet maintainer, I love seeing the bug take to the best. Only plane I fly in DCS. Thanks for posting.
Thx, Gonky! Keep it going!
have any video from Fighter jet Su30 for this Dogfight?
Man, you and Mover need to find some real Russian pilots and get them to dogfight their ships against yours in DCS…
You don't keep up with current events, do you...
DCS???LOL...
Nice video and commentary thanks.
the LEX is everything when it comes to f18 low energy performance for both ensuring clean air into the intakes and high alpha kinematics.

Did the su pilot deploy the flares himself or it's automatic by the su's defence systems when being locked by hornets radar?
That would be chaff not flares
Yes the Su-30MKM has a MAW system

what happen to your channel? is this new?

Is there an built in system that tells you that you virtually hit it or there is some other way to tell that you won?
I don’t think so. I think they are just talking to one another via radio and it’s an honor system for who wins or loses
they should have gun cameras for debriefing purposes.
