"It won't get cavities" had me cracking up, great video and great jokes, thanks bud, just got mine thanks to my pops and we're heading out in a few hours
I have a BlackMax that I love. A Walmart combo special that I paid $40 for. Just use trilene xl 12 lb. Test. I did catch a 15 lb. Blue Catfish and I was surprised my rod didn’t break. It seemed like the reel wasn’t stressed at all.
I got one with the tip missing 😮 from Walmart for $12 it was worth every penny 😜 the tip cost $3 to fix it what a great deal. It was missing two inches off but I like it a bit stiffer. Walmart Clarence stuff look at it good. It' is the left overs from the Year no one wanted. I'll take it you still can take it back 😅 Walmart.
I think it was the angle more than anything, I was trying to pull it out of submerged branches there and probably went past what it was capable of bending. That or somebody at Walmart sword fighted a concrete pillar with it before I bought it.
Interesting...make sure the side plate on the reel is secured tightly and not moving away from the frame as you tighten down the tension know on the opposing side plate. Also make sure the tension know isn't cracked. Also check the bushing inside the plate under the know, there's no bearing so if the bushing is damaged then the spool shift may have some freedom of moment in there, which it shouldn't, and that might cause it to have issues. Also check that the drag is operating normally, but that's probably not causing what you're seeing. Let me know if any of that helps.
I did not. I did call Abu and they were kind enough to send me the little discs that are supposed to shim out the cap, but no luck there either. I guess I’ll have to buy a new reel for the rod.
You literally left out the hardest part of setting up this exact bait caster? It’s a smooth spool with no holes making it harder to tie off and spool, than those with the aluminum and holes.
I literally just tie a uni knot and snug it down to the spool. You can, too. Piece of cake. Thread the line through the level wind guide and angle it under the spool, push it past and reach down with needlenose pliers to grab the loose end to get it around the spool and grab some slack between the guide and spool there toward the nose of the reel to start the knot.
Nope! I had/have the receipt but I've decided to re-home the reel to another rod and scraped this rod but saved everything from the top screw down on the reel seat and below to keep on my tackle bench when re-spooling reels, and removed the tip top guide so I can use it on another rod if I damage a tip top and need a replacement. The epitome of recycling, basically. ♻️ 🎣 👍
Because I can buy 2 combos for 60 bucks and not worry about fucking anything up while learning a casting setup? No reason to go buy a nice rod and DC reel as a new guy

@Xxsandytoes123Xx Appreciate you watching and commenting! Good luck out there and enjoy the combo!
I bought this combo this week and I am quite pleased with it. This is my first Vengeance Baitcast combo and it works great.
That's what's up! Just try not to foul hook a carp and you'll be set!
Thank you for responding. I agree with you about hooking a carp!!

Ayo! Yeah man, tip tops ain't too hard to fix so you're probably good to go!
just the tip? lol
It was $20 when I got to it a few days ago. :) Plenty left but I grabbed one. Great vid. Thanks!
Bought one of these today to take fishing for small/medium trout/bass in local small rivers. Hope it works out alright
Have fun with it, thanks for watching!
Idk what happened with the rod, Ive seen people catch 10-15 pound carp on ultra light spin combos with 6 pound test

keep rod 90%, not 0%. lol
I bought one at Academy, and the spool tension doesn’t work. The knob tightens down, but it doesn’t increase spool tension. Any ideas?

Also make sure the thread is aligned because I cleaned mine and had this issue it was a headache trying to make sure they where aligned
Checked it all and even tried one at a different Academy with the same result. This was my first and last Abu Garcia product.
did you save your receipt? lol
I did not. I did call Abu and they were kind enough to send me the little discs that are supposed to shim out the cap, but no luck there either. I guess I’ll have to buy a new reel for the rod.

Question is did you buy the walmart insurance so you could get it replaced lol

BUHBUHBUH BUUUHHMMM....
ABUGARCIA ABUGARCIA ABUGARCIA
Could’ve probably got that rod warrantied.
Reel actually looks like it would be alot more than 40$ alone...
It does feel pretty good. A bearing upgrade to ceramics and ole boy could sling with the $100 gearboxes more likely than not.
I’m trying to go fishing with you bro I’m out in VB
let me get one in left handy
Goh'head and flip that jawn upside and wind it at ya.
@yaboytee bro you don't miss 😂 🤣 😆
my god this reel is cheap. chinese made i'm guessing. why not use a 50 years old abu 5000 instead? it's 10x better. good channel tho' subbed

i landed a 25# ca. halibut on this combo.
Broke two so far.
How'd you do that? Snag a carp?
wtf I just spent 80 dollars on this thanks kamala and joe
