@Wabes_1 Thanks man! I always binge watch your clips on rainy days to get motivated, and it paid off in this example. I'm petrified of light line and big fish, but this little Lew's reel here has a decent drag on it, and so that helps.

@@yaboytee thank u I’m a sit down fish guy. But I have the big fish 105 I use looking at this as a second option fur my wife to fish out if or having a guest go with me. Or brother and sister inlaw borrow them.

@CBB316 Roger that, I mean, I've only owned this kayak and the Pelican Mustang I also review on this channel, but I still like both and enjoy using them, and I'm picky. So I imagine somebody really just wanting to get out and paddle around would like the Yellowfin.

@leonardo3816 Maybe? I'm not sure that it's fully sealed and intended for salt, but, if it's kept out of the sand and washed down after use I don't think it would be an issue. Not that it matters but when I go near salt I tend to use Penn reels and suggest if you're looking for something to go into salt more than fresh, you may be better off with Penn such as a Pursuit or Fierce model.

@BrandonHughes-g7m So the mount for the finder with the ducer drop arm is Item #141 and you can get it through Amazon or Bass Pro Shops and other places I'm sure. The low profile plates are Item #440 and I used the 1" version but they have longer ones if needed. But any low profile kayak mount plate that accepts a T bolt will work. Let me know if that helps!

@BrandonHughes-g7m I still have this kayak and will use it occasionally, no more mods though since I like to keep the Mustang as basic as possible. When I need more stuff I use a Vibe Yellowfin 100. They both serve their purpose but I'm still 100% convinced the Mustang is a great option for folks that want to get off the bank and reach spots they couldn't otherwise.

Yeah, it's not the exact same shade so not an exact match, but it's close.

I literally just tie a uni knot and snug it down to the spool. You can, too. Piece of cake. Thread the line through the level wind guide and angle it under the spool, push it past and reach down with needlenose pliers to grab the loose end to get it around the spool and grab some slack between the guide and spool there toward the nose of the reel to start the knot.

I park here: 36.8533083, -76.0767700 The Locks is steady brackish and there will be times when the trout and redfish run up and around there. I don't know enough about the salty stuff to recommend anything lure or technique wise. It might be a whole fustercluck tomorrow depending on who's all off for the Holiday.

This is at Pembroke Meadows Lake Park in VB off Independence Blvd. Google Maps can get you there but basically you'll want to get on 64 and then onto 264 East to the oceanfront and it'll be the second Indy Blvd exit heading North and the road that leads to the park will be about 2 miles up once you're on Indy. Lots of spots hidden all over the place. Stumpy is mental torture so don't sweat it if wasn't much going on there. I usually get out on Sunday mornings pending weather and how backed up I am on chores; might could meet up in the near future either at this spot or elsewhere.

@tylercraig6627 Absolutely, I don't keep secrets so if you see anything I post on this channel, feel free to ask. I've fished Smith off and on since 2002. There are fish, and good ones, but it's pressured so you got to slow down and target structure if you can't get hit on moving stuff. Shaded areas under trees once the sun is up is usually best bet. Once the wind kicks in, they'll stray a bit. Some boat docks but I've never been able to get them other than weightless wacky. Also, keep in mind, Smith and Whitehurst and LCR across the street from Smith technically require a City of Norfolk boat permit stickers. Supposedly they want them on kayaks too. Oceans East tackle shop sells them; $40 for non residents. Might be a military discount. They last for the calendar year you buy them so one bought today expires Dec 31.

Vibe's site says 51lbs. Haven't directly weighed mine but that sounds accurate.

I think 8#, as far as mono or fluorocarbon, would be fine. Anything higher than 10# might end up being too stiff.
