Piper ornatum is without a doubt one of the most beautiful foliage plants on Earth...... With that being said. There is about a .1% percent chance that if someone walks into a shop and tries to grow it in their house, it will survive.... That is a plant for literally experts to grow.... also the price range is $$$$$ IF you can find it for sale...

there are some cissus discolor that looks a little like piper ornatum (not the one Nick is showing in this video) ! I will give it a try while waiting for a nice Piper next spring !

It is so hard for me to take syngonium seriously. Here on the island I live these grow like weeds everywhere. I mean everywhere - on rocks, trees, bushy areas, heck, even my dogs kennel. They are treated like an annoying bush or weed here. And not just syngonium but also dumb cane or the vining Philodendron. All very very invasive. The more you cut them the greater they come back😁

At the same time people from big cities pay 2/4 $ to buy that plant at nursery.. I was laughing loud first time when I saw that weed at nursery website..

One of my favorite plants is Gynura aurantiaca or velvet plant. I love how fuzzy they are and they are super easy to propagate. 💜 I also have a lot of coleus. As you mentioned, it’s not necessarily a indoor plant. I grow it both outside and indoors. I have some growing from seed and a lot of propagations as well.
Thank you for this video! I’m definitely going to try some of these now!

Love all the Gasneriad varities! ♥️ I'm currently obsessed with getting my hands on a petrocosema, a "Russian" hyrbid African violet, and a Chimera. Btw you are responsible for the Petro obsession I have. I watched your Philly plant show video a few months ago and you passed by a few of them. I had to pause the video multiple times and Google it incessantly until I figured out what kind of plant it was. 😂 I love their shape.

I have a Plectranthus. Only because I have been given it as a gift but haven't seen them on other videos. I by chance found its ID when I went to a store who sold it I go and say hi every time I am there and notice it's still there. They aren't very popular I have noticed makes me feel bad for it every time I'm there. Don't know if thats just me. It didn't give the sub species though. Mine grows down all draped over and I got it in a small pot and did repot It up as the roots came out the bottom. It was pretty long initially put it in a tall cash pot to compensate and has put out a lot of growth it fit perfectly in the cash pot, surprisingly and it gave something a use. And helps how long it's grown now. It's in the kitchen where it gets brighter light and has grown longer and I have cut a bit off and put it in water to root so I can make the pot thicker eventually as it's dangled and grown draping down a lot more. It roots really easily. To me it's a weird plant partly succent partly not hasn't flowered for me yet. I think partly as it was kept in such a small pot and left to stand in water I try never let it do that I let the soil soak up the water for an hour max and let it dry out. But I would let it flower if it did. It's a plant that doesn't really complain much or freak out randomly its pretty consistent.

I stumbled onto the african violet type plants episcia on a trip to home depot. I found a short vine with leaves in a puddle of water and took it home w permission of course. I thought it was a strawberry begonia for their fuzzy leaves but behold they are thriving at home in my humid porch. I am going to give it warm water more often though.

I had to toss my Ellen Danica on Monday. Only had it a few months. Got cranky after a repot (it was really rootbound) and maybe not enough light/water. I have a plain green (betel) piper. Not under glass. Once I figured out that it actually wanted a lot of water and moisture, it thrived. It is nice to see some different plants in this vid and am happy that syngonium got a plug. There are so many gorgeous varieties and it really can grow well far from a window.

I love African violets, so I think I would probably love the Episcia cupreata, and especially if they come in purple and all the other beautiful colors. The asian violet"Loki" has the foliage that reminds me of the African violet, that is such a pretty plant. I have never seen these in person. The Piper Ornatum is so stunning I love the colors those leaves have. I actually have three varieties of the Plectranthus, the Verticillatus, The Royal Charlie and the Mona Lavender. It is a shame that so many plants are underrated because they are so beautiful. I sometimes pick up a plant because the foliage is different, I like a unique looking plant. Thank you Nick, this was a great video, I wish I could find some of these locally, guess I will have to check out Steve's Leaves, and a few other places.

Great video! Thanks for sharing! I just purchased 2 cryptanthus plants, (the pink one in this video) but I'm not sure how to water them. Do I water the soil, or do I put water in the cup (the hole the plant makes)? Also, is faucet water ok? I live in NYC, and we have chlorine, fluoride and other possible contaminants in our water. I don't have a green thumb, but I really want these to be the first plants that I keep alive!

this is wild cos I actually thought about asking you about episcias cos I got a pink one from sprout home Chicago & a couple new growth leaves have dried up crispy and some of the other leaves have unfortunately crispified and it seems like it happened when I got water on the leaves! I've heard that its best to water them from below but never heard about cold water vs warm water. thanks!
