I like that they made a soundtrack without talking. I’ll take music over talking any day. Of course the ambient sound ones are my favorite. My favorite two soundtracks are Last House on the Left and Graveyard Scene.

This is such an amazing piece, and amazing comments and review to go with it! I’m definitely getting it. I have many comments, mostly surrounding the fact that they are finally bringing back the Medieval theme, harkening back to pieces like the infamous Castle Black which has sold for $2000 on EBay, and even more interestingly, 2014’s cancelled Blackroot’s Wizard Academy. So this is the third major entry in this theme to my knowledge, and it’s great to see Lemax bringing the old themes back. They brought the mining theme back with Skull Cave Quarry (recall Dead Man’s mine, WE Slabbum Quarry [a unicorn of mine], Black Mountain Coal Mine [my #1 unicorn], etc.), they continued the wasteland theme with the gas station, witch fairy village, zombies it’s been a few years but there’s always at least a small piece (barring major things like Dead Fraternity, Graveyard party, Zombie fortress, etc). So really what we haven’t seen in a while are pirates and old western (and I guess Egyptian! the infamous Doomed Temple, or even “Jungle” with the cursed temple); but the big themes missing are pirate and old western. In my opinion, next year’s fogger piece will be pirate related. They brought back mining with the quarry fogger, so I just have a feeling that’s what they’ll do. Or, maybe with the facade they’ll do a pirate or old western town. We will have to see, but considering that they are finally bringing these themes back, SURELY those classic themes will return, unless they have decided to retire them.

Nice to see you Bread Guy! Yep- this is a building that will go with my castle themed stuff so I'm very happy to have a good addition to that. I may build a little display around it this year and not the pumpkin patch piece- not sure yet!
That piece is so much cooler than I expected. Sometimes the skills Lemax uses can look a little goofy, but this one is fantastic! I know you've been looking at doing a castle theme, and this is a great addition to put up front.

I’ve always known about the Christmas scenes from my parents and other people having them, but I walked into Michaels today and left with the magic shop and a few other small pieces. Can’t believe years of these models and sets went over my head but I’m excited to jump into the hobby

I agree, I like it with music/sounds and no talking. Two favorites of mine are the Pumpkin Tilt-n-Hurl and the Black Raven Manor. Love the soundtrack on Black Raven!

Definitely picking this one up. I'm going to modify it a bit for my spooky graveyard. I'm going to replace the guard on the stairs with a reaper. The soundtrack is too Disneyish for me, so I won't use that.

It has a very Harry Potter/Goonies soundtrack to it. I wasn't planning to get this piece but now I have to reconsider that!!
It’s a nice piece and I like that the soundtrack has no talking in it. The soundtrack remind me of the Harry Potter movies and the piece itself reminds me of Castle Grayskull. 😄
Hands down, this is the best piece this year.
Agree- had to snag it- candles are very cheesy though- (no offense Doug) I agree with a comment that it should had been torches or even cauldrons or something…. Those are some massive candles in scale 😂
Oh…. And are those eyelids right above the lit eyeballs 🤔😂 yea, those are getting painted over- really can’t see in dark but….odd
Soundtrack sounds a bit like John Williams Star wars from phantom menace. Agreed it's a great piece including the soundtrack 😃

@@davidbenson7592 why wouldn't items at least be available online then?
@@mfeyko my past experience is that online comes out later than in store. Not all the stores have it yet. There’s speculation that it has to do with coupons. I’m not 100% sure, but I think when you order online, it comes from a store and not a central warehouse, but I could be wrong. It would definitely explain the variety in how well their items are packaged when shipped.

I like the skull. I like the castle. Together they don't quite work for me as much, but I'm glad you have another piece you really like. The flickering candle effect that Lemax also used on their Foreboding Abode looks out of place here. Perspective-wise, it looks like the candles don't belong, like someone just stuck full sized candles to a Lemax building. The soundtrack is very cool which is rare for Lemax. I personally love the Symphony of Screams soundtrack.
Out of all the mist-ers, my favorite is still the Skull Cave Quarry.

The fog effect looks esp thick on this one. But my two fog pieces stopped working after one season (replaced the wick, fully soaked and cleaned the metal contact), which makes me wary of another fog piece.

This one looks real nice & yes, they did a great job with the soundtrack.
One could place a boombox under layout to play extended soundtrack with little repetition.

I feel Lemax ruined lot of great pieces with cheesy soundtracks, and the fact that this is just music is refreshing. Its not too busy, unlike a lot of other Lemax pieces, not too cheesy, and well balanced.

My Michael’s has their spooky town out and already marked 20%. It is never on sale the week it goes out on the floor. This is to screw us from using 30 or 40 percent off! Which I have both coupons. Guess I can buy it and return it for a price adjustment later. 😡

I dig it, but I'm wondering about the guard. Is it a tie in with any other Lemax items? I can't think of any other than the D56 Castle Calvaria and Mad Guard. And how do the candles work? Is it just flickering lighting? It looks like the shadows are actually moving. Great review, thanks! {edit} Looking at the guard again he reminds me of the ones at the witches castle in Wizard of Oz.
It follows the old Medieval theme of Black Castle (impossible to get) and a few aptly themed accessories, but Lemax hasn’t touched the theme since (besides the 2014 Blackroot’s Wizard Academy, which was demoed but cancelled and never released). It makes me think they are going to keep bringing back other classic themes.

Does it make fog with the soundtrack off?
I like the soundtrack a lot, particularly because there is no talking! Sometimes the talking can be a little annoying, especially when the music itself is good! It doesn't fit my theme so I wont be buying this but its great!
