Such great ideas! I would recommend investing in a giant bin of air-dry clay (or regular clay if you want to bake). My GF and I are working on a haunted house now from a thrifted Calico Critters dollhouse ($4 find at Goodwill) and we're making most of the accessories from clay (pumpkins, tombstones, walkway stones). We're using toothpicks and coffee stirrers that was free from a coffee place for boarded windows, fences, and a gate. The only thing we haven't figured out is how to edit it down and how/where we're going to store it all!
Storage is my biggest problem and reason for not being able to do projects like these. I'd love to make this but in the end it would be a waste of money and time bc I know it would end up destroyed for that reason alone! Have fun on your project! Sounds fabulous already! 👍
Yes storage is my problem too!! My collection takes up my garage and attic! 😱 Clay is such a great suggestion!! I just started working with it! Still have a lot to learn. I love experimenting with new materials! And it’s just the best when you get discount/free materials!! Thank you so much for watching!! Do you guys have a channel? I’d love to see you process and finished piece! 👻🎃🧟♀️ Happy creating!!
WOW what detail you put into your work. Its awesome!!!! You are so talented! Enjoy watching your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your 'secrets' on how to make things a little cheaper. ❤️
This project is very well done and I learned that styrofoam is a good way to make stuff. Seriously, I've spent so much on crafts supplies and never thought of using styrofoam, duh!
Everything is so expensive in Australia. We are getting there with Halloween. Got a few shops here with halloween decorations. I love jack O lanterns the best, then bats, then skeletons. Also, you could draw some webs and spiders on the house AND make a few ghosts out of tissues.
Oh that's a bummer! I hope you'll have more Halloween decor/creating options soon and those prices will go down! Love your ideas of webs, spiders and ghosts - so good!!
You can speed up drying times with a cheap hairdryer or small fan. Maybe both. I usually do a lot more moniatures for tabletop gaming. So I keep a hairdryer I grabbed at a yard sale on my bench to dry stuff.
The cicadas in the background were a little too overwhelming in an audio capacity for me to get too watch the video, but this looks so creative and I skipped to the end, it turns out amazing!
Omg I totally agree!! The cicadas were SCREAMING😂 I didn’t realize how loud until I watched footage. I’m already making location adjusts for my next videos. Thank you so much for checking out the finished product and for watching and commenting!! 🎃👻🧟♀️
The cicadas are singing to join in creating with you lol...goodness I thought our chorus was loud, yours beat mine. Great creation incredible display 😊
Yes singing!!! I love that! They wanted to contribute a spooky soundtrack!! 😂And they don’t seem to tire! They go all day! Maybe they’re demanding to be part of a display - they want me to create a spooky giant cicada vignette or something. Or start a band called Screaming Cicadas 🥁 🎸 😂
I appreciate that you made this on a budget. It turned out spooktacular. Your comedic commentary made the viewing delightful. Great job! Hello to Angel and I subscribed.
Oh my gosh thank you so much!!! Angel says hi!! 🧡 Thank you for watching, commenting, and subscribing!!! Have a spooktacular day!! 👻🧟♀️ Look forward to sharing more projects with you!
I love this video, but please start recording outside. If you’re going to record outside, please put something over the microphone to stop the noises of the bugs.
Thank you so much!!! I’m so glad the cicadas were barely noticeable!! They are big screamers here, they go all day😂 thank you for watching and commenting!! 🧟♀️👻🎃
Do it do it!!!! 🎃 village collecting and setup is so much fun!! I really love doing stone roads, brick roads…styrofoam is so versatile and provides so many opportunities to add budget friendly details to your display! 👻 Happy collecting and decorating!! 🧟♀️
Oh you really do!!! 🍁🍁 Such a dream!! I’ve always wanted to visit that area in the fall!! I went to Salem once in the summer. Have the leaves started to change yet?
What a great looking vignette! I wish I would have seen this before I spent 500 dollars on my building / accessories! You gave me a loymt of great ideas though. Now I am off to the thrift stores to see what I can find.
It can be such an expensive hobby!!! I really love collecting Lemax and Department 56 pieces but the accessories can really add up! I’m always thinking- I wonder if I can make this instead!! This was the first year I started checking out thrift stores. It can take some digging and hunting but there are some great finds there, and then you can make it your own!! Have so much fun creating and setting up your village!! 🎃👻🧡🧟♀️ Thank you for watching!! 🧙♀️🍁
While you certainly can use wire cutters on the flower picks, they are not necessary. Simply use your scissors or knife to score the green rubber/plastic outer covering where you want the cut to be made and then bend the wire back and forth a couple times. It will break in half fairly easily.
This was my first time watching one of your videos and I'm so glad I did! I have been collecting Spooky Town pieces for years and I have never been able to create a display 😅 I needed to see this! Thank you! 🎃 👻
Thank you!! I’m so glad this was helpful!! Spooky Town has so many great pieces! I’m obsessed 🧟♀️Have a blast creating!! 🎉🧡 Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Love this!!! It's funny to me how your video popped up in my reccomends bc i was at Michaels the other day and saw these exact displays! I was *SUPER EXCITED* until I looked at the price!!👀👀👀 $130.00 😬 for ONE of the larger mechanical displays and I just had to walk away before I made a decision I knew i would REGRET! 😂 This is so so cute and very doable! Thanks for sharing!
Oh I know, the prices can be crazy!! I often have to tell myself to walk away. Sometimes I just can’t resist, though!!! 😂 Keep an eye out, though, for the sales! They start to go on sale for 40% to 60% off. It seems like they sell out faster than they used to but it’s always worth checking. And if you shop at Michael’s often, definitely sign up for their rewards! I just love adding to my collection when I can find a piece for 50-60% off AND use $10 rewards🎉 Finding pieces at thrift stores is my new favorite thing. It’s so fun to see what you can come up with!! I also bought a couple churches and a lighthouse from goodwill that I can’t wait to turn spooky!!! 🎃👻 Thank you so much for watching and commenting!! 🧟♀️💀
Thanks for the ideas. I’m making a a Castle show my grandson and the phone will be great to make walls and stuff and how do use that stuff to add grass on the ground and get it from the dollar store and clay you can get there also. Lots of great ideas. Thanks
I love your video!! I am in the process of creating trees and such for my village since accessories are so, so expensive!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience!🎃🪦🪦
Thank you so much!! Those accessories really start to add up!! It's great to be able to make some things to save money...and it's so much fun! Happy creating!
Excellent video!!! Amazingly well done!!!! Very impressive and so much fun to watch!!! I’ll be watching many, many times!!! Really fantastic creative Halloween ideas!!!
This is amazing! I bought Department 56 pieces but always at a loss as to the base. I put down that grass paper, but I really don't like the way it looks. I've got moss here and there, but again, using the styrofoam is genius.
oh my sweet goodness. I LOVED this video. you did an amazing job and I can't wait to see what is next... I started last year trying to collect or create little villages (que Dollar Tree's doll houses), now I need to go get some of the foam board to make a rock wall and walkway :D
Oh I AM SO THANKFUL THAT YOU ALSO thought about the dilemma of how to carry rocks if you are naked!!!! 😜🤣But seriously girl ABSOLUTELY AMAZING DETAILS! EXCELLENT JOB!!
Oooh this is a greatly great idea!! You have inspired me to see what we can come up with! Thank you for watching and commenting!!! Have a spooktacular day!! 👻🖤🧡🎃

Well done - that was great to watch. I buy a lot of Lemax buildings and accessories, but the only thing I've done so far really is pickup reindeer moss off the side of roads - yes, that's where I've find them, on county roads. I have bought a couple Lemax display platforms and their sheets of display mats. I do want to try to start using styrofoam and painting them to make my own platforms. I know single blade knifes are the simplest, if you have any could you show other styrofoam cutters? Oh, at the dollar store I have bought small bales of hay. Those are cool to have. Have you thought about doing a corn maze? Or a pumpkin patch scene? That'd be cool to see. While you were painting the styrofoam and leaves I was wondering are you listening to music? Watching a scary movie?
Thank you!!! Collecting moss on the road - I love it!!! Part of the fun is finding creative ways to create! Yes, I will do a video about the foam cutters. I use a variety of hot wire tools which give you lots of options for what you can create. I do have a pumpkin patch display and corn maze. Last year was the first time I made a corn maze. I’m excited to improve on that. I’ll post videos of both soon. While I’m creating I listen to music and when I’m setting up my village display I watch Halloween movies! Thank you so much for watching and commenting and for your great questions!! Have a blast creating your village.

Amazing!! This turned out so good!!! 🤩👻🎃Putting it on the agenda at my nudist colony. We also appreciate not needing a hot glue gun 😅 thanks for the extra effort to show the process😘

Very well done Kelly. Your video popped up. My wife has a channel called “Making it my own Diys” Ill share it with her. Great job with the video and editing as well. Hope you have a great day.
Thank you so much! And thank you for sharing this with your wife! I look forward to checking out her channel🧟♀️ thank you for watching and commenting!!🎃👻
Great question!! Yes I will do a video to explain. It has to do with how much paint you have on the brush. Dry brushing is very little paint so you don’t saturate whatever it is you’re painting and can bring out the details.
Your videos are amazing! I love all your techniques! I have watching your videos since yesterday evening and I couldn’t stop! You are very knowledgeable about your business! Thank you! 19:19
Thank you so much!!! I’m so sorry for such a very late reply! I’m just now realizing I haven’t seen many comments from several months ago. Thank you so much for watching and your kind comment!! 🎃🩷
It’s hard to say total time but a glue gun will save you several hours. For example, with a glue gun gluing the stones on the well will take just a few minutes as opposed to several hours
It does!! If it gets to the boiling bubbling level of heat it will melt. I have a hot glue gun with a high and low setting. The low setting is usually perfect. Depending on the project/pieces, I might bump it up to high for a few minutes and bump back down when it starts to bubble.
58 sounds amazing!! We are in the 90s here and so much humidity😫 Send us some of your cool temps!! Thank you for watching and sending us all your fall vibes 🍁 🧡
I know 😫 The cicadas were screaming!! They go all day here that I don’t even notice them. But, yes, the audio at the beginning is hard to hear. It does clear up after the first three minutes when I explain the project via voiceover. Definitely finding new places to film for my future projects! 🎃👻 Have a spooktacular Day!!
Yikes, indeed! It’s cicadas. They scream all day long so I barely notice them. I didn’t notice them while I was filming, but afterwards… 😧😱😧 Definitely making a location adjustment for the new video 🧟♀️🧙♀️

Wouldnt hot glue melt the styrofoam?

It does clear up after the first three minutes when I explain the project via voiceover. Definitely finding new places to film for my future projects! 🎃👻 Have a spooktacular Day!!
What's all that background noise? Yikes
Yikes, indeed! It’s cicadas. They scream all day long so I barely notice them. I didn’t notice them while I was filming, but afterwards… 😧😱😧 Definitely making a location adjustment for the new video 🧟♀️🧙♀️
