Just wanted to let you know that I am part of a Lemax group on Facebook and people including myself have been getting confused because of this video. We are trying to use distilled water on isle of creepy jacks and it is not working. The instructions specifically state to use tap water and we finally figured out that distilled water is non-conductive and therefore is making the sensor think that there is no water. We returned our first piece thinking that it was broken and then the same thing happened with the second piece once we finally figured this out we switched to tap water and had absolutely no problems. It may be that the older pieces that generated fog were created differently and distilled water could work for them but it appears that it is not the case for these newer ones. I have not tried it on the skull cave specifically but I'm imagining it is the same thing. Anyway I love your videos and this is not meant to be a mean or negative comment and simply meant to be informative. I think that it may be helpful if you release another video helping to clear this up for some people. Thanks!
Hey Crystal thanks for the heads up here. Whenever I've used fogging stuff before it's always required distilled water, and I had thought that was the way with older Lemax pieces. Do you know if the fogging thing is different in Jacks versus Skull Cave? I've not seen Jacks yet because of the Michaels supply issue. I will rectify this in a clarification video if I can get some more data on it. Thanks
@@SpookyVillages Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I do not know if it's different between Jack's and Skull. I actually have had someone since then report that distilled water worked for them but I've seen others with the issue that it's not working too. I wish I had more information for you.
@@crstlprsn Thanks for the response. I'll make sure to compare them both as soon as I get my hands on Jacks. I know the distilled water in my Skull Cave produces a ton of fog and everything appears to be clean. I would be nervous putting the hard water I live near into it as I've seen how bad it gums up my Keurig machine! Foggers are pretty new to me so I'll make sure I do something updated once I get things in hand to compare! I appreciate you raising awareness to this issue!
In my opinion, this is still my favorite from this year’s main line. Will go perfectly with both point dread and the nautical theme, and the mining theme that I’ve been building up for so long and hasn’t received a piece in so many years (it resembles the isle of doom also)! This definitely was super anticipated, and you knocked the review out of the park!!! Can’t wait to get one of these in my hands as well. See you next week!! Edit: Yep, this could definitely go in a carnival too! It seems super versatile. I also plan to put it with the isle of jacks and point dread this year though.
This is a tough year to pick a favorite, in a good way. This will be hard to beat though. It's got such great theming! I believe this or the Isle of Jacks is going to be a fave for most people this year, at least so far as the big buildings go!
This building is so rad. I know I keep saying it, but I love that pile of bones! You may have convinced me to get this one (even though it doesn't fit any of my themes!) Awesome review as always!
You're right--the lighting is stunning on this one! I also agree that sound or moving parts would detract from the eeriness of this piece. I think my husband will like this one--he used to cave dive. The fog effect is cool--looks like the skull is breathing. Thanks for the tip re: distilled water.
DUUUDEE!!! This is wicked cool! I love the detail of the piles of bones not just on the outside but on the back of the inside of the lagoon oh my gosh this piece is gorgeous! Great price too! Bravo Lemax👏👏👏 Awesome review !💀💀💀
I had this piece on order until I saw the the similar pumpkin themed piece coming out from Michael’s. It will go better with my theme and village. This is a really cool piece though. I love the fogger, it adds such a cool element. Awesome piece Lemax!!
One I’m waiting for ~ ive made my own skull cave Falls in my Pirate Village but doesn’t mist ~ this will be cool to fit in my collection. Thx for sharing :)
Amazing piece! I' picked up the Christmas Cabin last year with the chimney smoke / vapor, good tip with the distilled water too for longevity. I was going to fill this Skull Cave up with Whiskey until you suggested distilled water ;) , definitely would of gummed that bugger up :D haha!
This is a piece worth getting. I bought Ravens Manor last year, and thought I would just stick to 1 piece for a few years but this year looks great for the hobby, and will not pass on the opportunity to get a cave for myself. I wonder if too much water would damage anything? Happy 🎃!!!
Thanks again, Doug. It looks fantastic, but I *almost* wish they offered one without the fogger for a smaller price tag. I do think the value of this one at that price is very good. I'll probably hardly ever use the fogger, but love the look of it. I may have to get it anyway, I just wish I didn't have to get the extra complexity, but at least I can use the lights without the fogger.
I know most people are going to choose to get the skull cave quarry or isle of jacks, but I'm getting both 🤣 I hope this piece means a few pirate ships in the future *fingers crossed* Great review as always
Love your reviews! Purchased this one, concerned about the fogging wick, since their holiday cabin would stop fogging for no reason, only used distilled water and I tried new wicks. One day it would work for a few hours, next day it would cut off after 20 min.
Oh man! That's insanely amazing! I just bought my second trick or treat house and just starting out. Black Cat Flat is on it's way thanks to your reviews and high recommendations! I would love this fogger, but only having two houses, I know something like this would send me off the random collection deep end. Who am I kidding!? I'll end up getting this.....deep end here I come! 🤣 I'll just keep it separate as it's own piece on the counter. I just hope they continue to make the inserts long term!!!! 😬
I have reached out to Lemax on the wick inserts to see what they say as far as if they will be available for replacement or if there is something generic that you can get a craft store or somewhere. It comes with six wicks total! As for what to do collection wise, have fun in the deep end :)
Doug, first time comment-long time viewer. Think you do a great job with the Lemax & Dept 56 reviews. Question, how loud is Skull Cave Quarry? I am a long time owner of Lemax Isle of Doom and the fogger is loud. If you don't turn on the sound track the fogger noise is distracting. Is this new piece anything like that? P.S. I like whisper quiet Halloween pieces. Appreciate your feedback. Not sure how this platform works, the question is open to all Halloween nation too.
Im so excited to get this piece and (like someone else mentioned) pair it with Dead Mans Mine. I got that one last year and it’s hard to place it in my village since everything I have is more fall festival/pumpkin patch themed. But hopefully I can branch out with some “spookier” pieces this year.
Personally I don’t know what to think any this one I love the fog and all but idk if I will buy it knowing me tho I probably will Lol. I must say I love the water puddle on the bottom of the pice and the fog is nice the eye catching pice is the purple light with the skeletons trapped in the cave which is very cool
Nice vid. Definitely a lot of good pieces coming out this year. It's going to be hard to choose. Also, do you get your lemax pieces early or are they out in some stores already?
I've noticed Spookytown sometimes recycles some themes and ideas. Kind of disappointed with this piece 😕 I've had Isle of Doom which is a sights and sounds and has the fogger as well. Not impressed. Light is cool and new fogging mechanism. Much smaller, but more versatile when themeing

Landon from the Village Idiots podcast has a Jacks coming in tomorrow so he is going to look into this
@@SpookyVillages any updates on this conundrum

Ah yes! Finally a new addition for my pirate them!! Thanks again Doug for helping me spend more money!

That fog smoking on the water looks sweet. Nice thats its simple to set up too.
You do such an awesome job presenting everything and sharing the details/tips with us. Thank you so much! 🙌😊
Next to the Horrid Haunted Hotel, this is my favorite of the year. Everything about it is just perfection.

Awesome review !💀💀💀
This has one of the better interior scenes, especially given that the fog comes from the inside!
Yup...instant favorite, just as I suspected. Cannot wait to add this to my village.
I love the fogger hidden in a drawer. Keeps it out of sight, and clean.
Yessir, this piece was super well thought out!
Love your videos! Can’t wait for Friday each week!
Can't wait. Love your reviews I watch every one before I buy one you are the man.
Couldn’t even get through the vid before I bought one. The moment you said ceramic it was over.
Another great vid!!
I saw this one and fell in love, then I saw the pumpkin one, I think that one is the one I am gonna get.

Wow! I love it! It’s on my list now. Great review. Thank you!🎃
You are so welcome!
This piece is awesome. Thank you for the review.
I love the fog!! I can't wait to get this
You will be having another fog building soon with the isle of creepy jacks! 🎃 It’s one of my favourites
This is so cool! Can’t wait for next week!
Excellent!! Wow! Thank you!!!
One I’m waiting for ~ ive made my own skull cave Falls in my Pirate Village but doesn’t mist ~ this will be cool to fit in my collection. Thx for sharing :)
You can get a fogger on Amazon...can put it in anything www.amazon.com/dp/B08GCJCMP5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ZT0EQPACK8VXZZBMQ0JG

This piece reminds me of the Goonies. I’m loving your channel! ☠️👻🎃
I want to see the other fogger this year as well it’s the pumpkin one hope you do a review on that as well
The pumpkin Isle will be the first one I do when Michaels buildings come out!
@@SpookyVillages awesome really enjoy this review and now it’s a must have thanks for doing it
Can’t wait to get this piece. Definitely a keeper for this year.
Love this! Thanks for the great review!

I know most people are going to choose to get the skull cave quarry or isle of jacks, but I'm getting both 🤣 I hope this piece means a few pirate ships in the future *fingers crossed* Great review as always
Same. I need both for the nautical theme!
Wow it didn't look that big in picture. It made the list after your review of it lol.

Good to know this is an issue. Thanks!
Absolutely love the lighting on this! Now to figure out where to pre order
Id use giftspice. They dont have this one in stock yet but they will soon. Giftspice gets their inventory the quickest and they ship super fast
Yep, Giftspice. Fast stock and shipping.

Happy you got that, Ivy. And funny enough I just got a Dead Man's Mine! I have to pick it up in two weeks!
Hey man how long do the wicks last I got the isle of jacks and I wanna know how long those wicks last (those white things)

I love it.
Will michaels have this in stores or have to purchase online
Music isn't an issue because if you do have a collection of lemax houses and those play music well then there ya go! 😎
Great review!
Thanks!
I can't wait to get this one, have it reserved at ehobby!
Me: Hmmm I’m gonna see if there’s someone doing ST reviews.
Me: Is Doug a golden god?
Any idea how you can get replacement fog wicks? They included 5, so I'm not sure the logevity of this without more fog wicks.
You ever find an answer to this? I'm currently looking for them.
Are they out yet?
Nice vid. Definitely a lot of good pieces coming out this year. It's going to be hard to choose. Also, do you get your lemax pieces early or are they out in some stores already?
I got these from the first shipment from Lemax. Several online retailers have these in stock right now.
So once the fogger wick finishes, how do you buy new ones?
It comes with six and this should last you awhile, but I've reached out to Lemax to ask on replacements.
How long does one of the sticks last? How many fog sticks does it come with?
Not sure how long one will last. This one has run awhile and first one seems to be OK still. Mine had six, I believe.
How are you getting a hold of pieces to review? Where are people ordering them? This piece looks like it'll be $149.
This piece runs around 80 dollars on the various online seller stores. I was sent some early release pieces by Lemax to review! Thanks
