This video misrepresents Renegade as being owned by Rockford Corporation and associated with the Rockford Fosgate brand. These assumptions also misrepresent the product by assuming the Renegade product would perform similar to a Rockford Fosgate designed product. These assumptions are made by people outside of Rockford Corporation, not by our staff. In reality, the Renegade brand is NOT owned by Rockford Corporation. Renegade is 100% owned and developed by Audio Design Lautsprecher Vertriebs GmbH, from Kronau, Germany. The design and development of Renegade products are not affiliated with Rockford Fosgate's design, engineering, test and validation teams. Unlike Renegade, Rockford Corporation actually did own the Lightning Audio brand and therefore designed and produced the Lightning Audio product line. Based upon the many comments already posted, we understand how speculation, assumptions, misunderstandings, and rumors can develop. We appreciate the validity of any Amp Dyno test and wanted to set the record straight with the misrepresentations made in this particular video.
ryan, that was a real move, to put out that retraction! respect to rockford for clearing that up also!, cause i like alot of people were very confused!!!
I wouldn't call it a Rockford. I appreciate RF separating this line from their main name brand (as we see for obvious reasons). I didn't even know Renegade was even a related subsidiary until I saw this video. Too bad Orion can't do this and build their Cobalt lineup under a different name.
Thank you for the video.....well done and unbiased. Long time RF fan and I own 20 RF amps. No Lightining nor Renegade. This confirms why I have instinctively stuck with the "genuine article".....Power 650, Power 300, T1001 bd Elite Series and Power 1000 bdcp series! You get out what you put in.....! Keep up the good work! JMc from Big D!
Renegade is a distributed product by Rockford Corp, not made by Rockford. Rockford uses as a value brand to step up to Rockford Fosgate. Durability and value being its focus.
I don't think Rockford actually owns this brand. From the lettering it says Renegade USA distributed by Rockford. Meaning the just bring them in, still not something they should be associating with either. Also Lighting Audio is gone, that's a shame. I really liked there amps back in the day.
Although Renegade was owned by Rockford (so was Lightning Audio), Renegade (unlike a Lightning) was NOT built by Rockford. I got this info straight from my Rockford rep years ago. Lightning Audio were literally just rebranded, old Rockford models. Renegade was intended to be an overseas brand.
I picked up this line years ago at a shop I managed. I must say their OEM replacement size speakers were beefy on the motor structure. Never had a return and they were the first coax/ 2-way 8" speakers you could buy. Their amps were light and didn't seem to put out what you expected. And their subs were average at best. Didn't sell amps and subs very well. Price point was profitable the for a flea market
This one is for all you fuse adding mathematicians. This amp, with its two 30amp fuses did numbers that amps with one 30 amp would do, but the duel, with two 25 amp fuses did 900 Watts at one ohm.
I bought this amp back in 2010 I think from a sound shop. I was told to buy this amp man it’s a great amp I have two old skool kickers 1990s cvr comps man do they sound good clean bass people say they hear me two blocks down lol
Everyone calm down !! It is NOT made by Rockford they simply own the brand. It is run and marketed by a completely different team from true Rockford brands. Companies do this all the time and are in the market to make money. All this is, is a way for Rockford Corporation to increase revenue.
These results were not surprising since the only places I’ve ever seen these is craigslist, letgo, or swap meets. The cheesiness has always been up there with the worst swap meet brands. The surprise was the Rockford association. Thanks again Ryan.
Sad day !!! RF should run far away from these & fast!!! Good thing it doesn’t actually say Rockford Fosgate on it 😂 Hoping the new Zapco dynos happen soon.. I offered to pay shipping for a DIYMA member to send in their amps to you. That will be best. I’m not to keen on Zapco sending you amps direct from HQ from the President/ Owner. I been looking to buy one from authorized dealer then I find out the US distributor changed hands & I can’t get an answer as to who is authorized or where to purchase. Can get an answer if buying via Amazon is authorized with warranty.
Lighting Audio Storm subs were amazing. I still have several in the ceramic and neo variety But there were actually designed and built in San Diego by TC Sounds
I believe renegade was intended for european market because i purchased a pair of 5.25 speakers for my chrysler dash .The manual mainly had european cars the speakers would fit. I managed to install them and ran them off a power acoustik 4 channel amp and blew them in a week.Thats when i knew to not mess with renegade brand again.
Ok so I'm going to see how well this amp works in my boat. I don't need anything crazy I'm not doing a stereo competition but just powering a single fosgate p2 12 and it was budget friendly seeing how I have things like a mortgage and utilities. Lol but on that note thank you for the test and I guess I will see how this works for me. Great video!
I have a lightning audio power cap I bought like 15,16 years ago, when I was around 16 or 17.. I had a few other things from them.. I use to run 4 10' kicker solo barics, then I moved to a single L7 15 in a 4cft box sealed.. In my 92 beretta GT, miss that car.. them was the days lol
Have you heard of Majestic car audio out of Phoenix.AZ. they were telling me that they are made by Rockford or they make them like Rockford????. they are selling them at rock bottom prices. I would love to see you Dyno them. PS Love the Videos.
WOW!! I honestly thought that because this amp is associated with Rockford that it would do really well.. If I was a betting man I would have lost that bet!!
Have you ever dyno tested urban audio? Back in the mid 90s I used to love that budget brand! I've always been curious if it met rated power on its amps an subs. The subs sounded great for the money but was never too sure on the amps.
I had an all polished aluminum Lighting Audio strike series 2 channel that I bought around 2005-ish that was rated at 400 RMS @ 4 ohms. A four ohm stable amp with two 30 amp fuses. Lol Pretty sure it was a bit under rated, that thing had a ton of head room. I wish these just carried over the old boards and power supplies from those. Buuutt, it looks like they bought parts from India or something. Man, that sucks. Makes me wonder if the Focal entry level stuff (Auditor) is the same. Or Memphis entry level stuff (Street Edge) Holy shit! What if everybody is lying to us???
I know it's a busy watt wise but I'm trying to piece a modest budget compact but quality system together for a buddy's Jeep and I've narrowed it down to a Rockford r2 shallow 12 sub (250wrms rating) in a custom down firing sealed enclosure I'm building and I need find a non cheapo ie boss Planet audio ect but under $100 basic monoblock amp in a 300w'ish ballpark, do you have a suggestion. Am I asking to much? He just wants a more performance over the Jeep Wranglers so-called "subwoofer" and still have room in the back ability to set stuff ontop reason for the short but wide down fire box. Trying buy a shallow sub (just the driver) and amp under $200. Any input would be appreciated. Love your channel
on a side note I'm willing to donate my M-70 or mx-2 amp to a video.I expect PPI Results. Nothing more and nothing less. The mx -2 will drop to 2ohm load's without breaking a sweat. The M-70 is an amazing sounding amplifier but isn't like a car audio component. It is at it's best at 8om stereo.
Ryan, if you can get some ds18 amps and dyno them. It is a company that is everywhere nowadays. I have to admit im not their biggest fan but they do make some great mid woofers and subs. So i would like to see if their amps are up to par or they are just b.s ing about their amps or if they are official. Thanks alot
U think that's bad. I bought the package with the sub and the sub blew in 2 days. I kept the amp and paired it with a jbl club and it sounds good now but the subs are pure garbage.
Hahaha glad I bought massive audio! Welp there's a shop that sells these POSIBLY even refurbished- for $20- $25 on door buster sales and the cheaper ROCKFORD line for a few $1s more no lie ... I see people buy them & get a free install & it's always a disappointing lesson & days of going back to get it finished...but I'm glad I never even took 1 for $5 probably a fire hazard aswell -who knows!
I don't understand why you are not using the same method of measuring as the manufacturer. They used 80Hz signal and you are using 40Hz. I know is that much but the purpose of this video is to see if the claim on paper reflects reality.
Amy dyno doesnt have a 80hz option, and 80hz wouldnt have changed the results by much. Note that RF didnt dispute the results. Only the distributorship vs ownership
I would really like to see a hifonics zues elite 2500 amp dyno. I can not find anyone who has tested it. I have one and it seems to do what is says with 2 audiopipe bd4's draining 2 batteries (Optima reds) I would love to see the truth some time. Thanks for your time.
Thousand watts max. Haha Might as well throw a boss sticker on it. At least if you buy a boss amp u kinda know what ur getting into. If u don't watch some more vids.
For every one who might think that this guy makes shill videos...You are mistaken. I listen to and view all his video`s on a Yamahah C70 M70 set-up paired to Klipsch Chourus II's and his shit is legit.
hey new subscriber here. Question. I saw your video on the rockville amp. i think it was the db 16, and you gave it a good review. Im thinking of gettng the 5 channel rockville amp. Rockville dB55 4000 Watt/2000w RMS 5 Channel Amplifier. Im used to having good quality systems for the last 15 years, but am going to do all new builkd for my next vehicle. will this amp do my good for upgrading my upgraded interior speakers as well as something like a single 12'' solobaric L7 kicker, or jl? ive always liked my kicker l7 since it first came out. thanks
It sucks it doesn't do what is rated but for 59 bucks same price as the dual amp that doesn't make over 300 watts rms so I mean it's not a waste of money you get what you pay for
Edward Horton we know this, zapco is sending ryan a replacement because someone screwed up and sold him a refurb that nobody can find out who repaired it. What i am talking about is the 4 sq zapco he has in his posession qhich i run
Xesar Rx I offered to pay for shipping for an DIYMA member to unhook their Zapco STSQ and send it to Big Blank ( Ryan ). I don’t want a manufactured picked amp that is not valid to me. Especially when it is coming from the Zapco president/ owner In Italy. Which is weird b/c I thought the heads of Zapco moved to China to make sure this didn’t happen with their amps ( loss in quality )
Up To Bat Entertainment I dont mind the president getting off his ass and sending an amp. I dont think they will put "better" parts in it and think he can get away with it , ryan opens them. A million of us have them aswell. I dont think zapco ceo or whoever is going to take a chance if a legit amp fails they will probably apoligize and do better im future designs. Its a company that makes millions of dollars each year i dont think they will just let money go away. If they do suck they will get better
Ryan Blankenship lol its gonna be a good one. Your videos actually impact the whole audio seen in the U.S. and probably worldwide. Alot of ppl are waiting on the zapco follow up take your time no rush but we are anxious lol. Tha k you for these videos!
Surprising. Hey Ryan maybe you already have tested one and I just missed it. But somebody told me Rockville is also owned by Rockford Corp. Is this true? How do those amps do on the dyno? I see they offer 3 diff ratings with their amps. Even include a CEA certified rating. Which has me VERY curious.
mem10fan2 I have The rzr 2500d I took in on a trade and it hasn't quit yet on my thrown together scrap daily setup. For a cheap mini mono amp it does the job and powers the skar vvx8v3 sometimes too well which was taken car of by the sub sonic filter it has built in. For a cheap amp it does its job well.
Nicholas Cortez the exact amp I'm talking about sells for $70 and is a mini amp. It does decent work for the price point and even better considering the form factor.
I'm sure he had it wide open, he surly gave it everything he could.. it's junk.. buy a Korean amp and u get what u pay for... buy a good amp once! or buy a bunch of junk and accomplish NOTHING
lol my amp is a twisted 3.5k. korean built ;) so im not looking for a low end but i recommended it cuz higher frequency may have a bit of a different result (tho i have doubts but cant hurt lol) yes i agree this amp is pretty much shit tho...
So disappointed. I blew my Jl audio 1000/1. I bought a Renegade Ren850 for $10 at a yard sale. Then bought another off ebay. Have them on separate alpine type r 10's and they bang really loud. Mine are class a/b tho...throughly happy with 2 Ren850 amps. .
Dude I know that is renegades first amp when they came out . Um I'm so stuck in you saying that they don't make lightning Audio . Dude I don't thing Rockford fostgate shut down that brand it's is a successful brand maybe you should do some research on the lightning Audio because I remember they came out with a nice line of stuff about 3-4 years back like the the L1250 and LA 3000 man you gotta keep yo dude true Audio fans always stays tune in on Audio new ! Lol
Can someone please do an amp dyno on the autotek mm 4020.1d i bought one and it seems to do pretty well. You can get it for 150 or so but i cant find any dyno vid on this amp.please, please, please

Thanks for your feedback and retraction. I'll be sure to update our corporate website to reflect the distribution business model.
ryan, that was a real move, to put out that retraction! respect to rockford for clearing that up also!, cause i like alot of people were very confused!!!
yeah... but Rockford Fosgate is Rockford Fosgate. Nothing changes that.
But its listed on the rockfordcorp website..OUR BRAND.. one of dem is renegade audio..
naiem haniff, rockford already cleared that up!, get a late pass!!!
Truly disappointing and I'm certain RF would not want to be associated with ratings/results like this
We live in a new age society where men aren't men, women aren't women, and Dual amps perform better then budget Rockford amps. My confusion furthers
I wouldn't call it a Rockford. I appreciate RF separating this line from their main name brand (as we see for obvious reasons). I didn't even know Renegade was even a related subsidiary until I saw this video. Too bad Orion can't do this and build their Cobalt lineup under a different name.
Kevin's comment wins the Internet for this vid! LOL!
It's called "Political Correctness"...the cancer tha comes from the Lefts :/
I was going to comment but yours said it all. Well said.
Yup! I was looking for this comment before I made mine. Good news is that the Dual amp is cheaper!
I don't see it for 70 bucks, it's more then 90 now, but I wouldn't even buy it for $40!
thanks for the reviews guy, really appreciate these videos!
Unfortunate, I thought we would see 550 watts here. Well, at least we know to stay away now! Thanks Ryan. Good video, as always
We've sold a lot of them with zero failures. They do great for the money. We tell the customer that they are around 400 watts.
Thank you for the video.....well done and unbiased. Long time RF fan and I own 20 RF amps. No Lightining nor Renegade. Never seen a Rockford that didn’t do rated in one way or another...definitely not a Rockford board
mr2jzgtte in denial? It's ok Orion's budget amps can't make rated power either.
Edward Horton It’s not denial it’s reality...I’ve seen plenty of top shelf Orion amps not do they’re rated power
another great video keep up the good work
Keep up the good work can't wait to see what's next on the dyno
Good job as usual was curious about this brand have been a life long fosgate fan so disappointed in this amp
I don't think Rockford actually owns this brand. From the lettering it says Renegade USA distributed by Rockford. Meaning the just bring them in, still not something they should be associating with either.

Where are the kraco amps ?
That would be great if you tested vintage amps too. Great work man!
I picked up this line years ago at a shop I managed. I must say their OEM replacement size speakers were beefy on the motor structure. Never had a return and they were the first coax/ 2-way 8" speakers you could buy.

Can u tell what % of ppl r watching r subbed or just ppl running across ur recommendations? Seems like u should have grown triple what u have so far
Ugh it’s one thing to have spade terminals for the speaker inputs but for power...nah
This one is for all you fuse adding mathematicians. This amp, with its two 30amp fuses did numbers that amps with one 30 amp would do, but the duel, with two 25 amp fuses did 900 Watts at one ohm.

I have 2 of the original 850s and they are solid.
Everyone calm down !! It is NOT made by Rockford they simply own the brand. It is run and marketed by a completely different team from true Rockford brands. Companies do this all the time and are in the market to make money. All this is, is a way for Rockford Corporation to increase revenue.

I had one back in the day that sounded great for highs. Like really good.
fast forward to 7:45 for the actual testing
I believe renegade was intended for european market because i purchased a pair of 5.25 speakers for my chrysler dash .The manual mainly had european cars the speakers would fit. I managed to install them and ran them off a power acoustik 4 channel amp and blew them in a week.Thats when i knew to not mess with renegade brand again.
Hey Ryan, since Renegade is RF bottom end amp. You should try T.M.A by JL Audio.
Ryan Blankenship, yea, I was checked out sonic electronic and they have the TMA 1000 for $220.
Lightning Audio! I had 2 12 inch strikes. I miss them.
can you see about testing a hcca amp from orion, like the smallest one they make.
Should of tried it at 1.8 ohms
Hopefully you get your hands on a Powerus amplifier and get to do a Dyno test
Ive been told that the Sound Ordnance brand from crutchfield is rockford’s new “budget line”
And a old school Rockford Punch 40 was banging back in the day. Disappointing Rockford
I'm not doing a stereo competition but I have this amp running on fosgate p2 12 on my boat and it pounds. So if not wanting to spend a ton it works.
My first thought was "repackaged prime series amp" but those don't have internal fuses and are 1 ohm stable.
No way the prime amps do way more than rated.
I had one of these on 2 fosgates it had those 2 800watt 12”s slaming it was a budget system too! 😂
Here in my country Bulgaria, they are selling this amp for 339 Bulgarian Levs, which is about $200USD...
Damn that's a real markup
Ok so I'm going to see how well this amp works in my boat. I don't need anything crazy I'm not doing a stereo competition but just powering a single fosgate p2 12 and it was budget friendly seeing how I have things like a mortgage and utilities. Lol but on that note thank you for the test and I guess I will see how this works for me. Great video!
I'm curious 2 years later if this amplifier worked out on your boat!?
Me 2
Test a DS18 GEN-6000.1D. Those amps are popular in my country and would like to see the power it puts out.
I have a lightning audio power cap I bought like 15,16 years ago, when I was around 16 or 17.. I had a few other things from them.. I use to run 4 10' kicker solo barics, then I moved to a single L7 15 in a 4cft box sealed.. In my 92 beretta GT, miss that car.. them was the days lol
also the power cap still had like 2volts after sitting for 14 years, and it still holds a charge, I don't use it though
Whats the background song playing? Sounds like a recreate from an old Bass 305 of Bass Syndicate
Have you heard of Majestic car audio out of Phoenix.AZ. they were telling me that they are made by Rockford or they make them like Rockford????. they are selling them at rock bottom prices. I would love to see you Dyno them. PS Love the Videos.
What about a Nakamichi NGTD600.1 "Claims 6k max wattage" "$99.95 on ebay" or NGTD1 "Claims 1k max wattage" "$59.95 on ebay"?
WOW!! I honestly thought that because this amp is associated with Rockford that it would do really well.. If I was a betting man I would have lost that bet!!
If you get a chance would you be able to do a test on a cadence amp?
Renegade was Audiovox back in the day.
Have you ever dyno tested urban audio? Back in the mid 90s I used to love that budget brand! I've always been curious if it met rated power on its amps an subs. The subs sounded great for the money but was never too sure on the amps.
Would it do the numbers at 80hz? I do not know the science of this stuff so im asking you? Thanks
Ryan Blankenship ok, thank you...
It might do its 4 ohm at 80 since it was only like 45-50 watts off but yeah it's not doing that 500.
Hey man, great videos. Can you please Dyno the skar sk-m4004. It's a really tiny amp, I'd love to see if it can actually do what it clames.
Why does it have 60 amps fusing. It's Class d, I bet you it makes 500 W at 1ohm which would justify those 30 amp fuses
What does testing at different frequencies do such as 40hz tone vs 80 in this case?
I didn't know that Rockford made a budget brand
The only budget amp fosgate produces now is the prime series.
I had an all polished aluminum Lighting Audio strike series 2 channel that I bought around 2005-ish that was rated at 400 RMS @ 4 ohms. A four ohm stable amp with two 30 amp fuses. Lol
Pretty sure it was a bit under rated, that thing had a ton of head room.
I wish these just carried over the old boards and power supplies from those.
Buuutt, it looks like they bought parts from India or something.
Man, that sucks.
Makes me wonder if the Focal entry level stuff (Auditor) is the same.
Or Memphis entry level stuff (Street Edge)
Holy shit!
What if everybody is lying to us???
They are not made by RF, just distributed.
What does that mean 500rms 1000 watts max how do you max it out ?? And why does it say 1000 if it’s only 500
Is there a video that explains what is going on during dyno
Did you ever do a ela 1000 m amp from menace this is what I got but cant find no reviews on it
I thought Renegade was a Pep Boys product. That's the only place i seen Renegade being sold at.
I have this same amplifier on 1 2000 watts sub 15 inch in ported box and never ran hot are cut off I mean it's been really good to me
Try a 1 ohm test there was still 20 amps of headroom on the fuseing
Ryan, if you can get some ds18 amps and dyno them. It is a company that is everywhere nowadays. I have to admit im not their biggest fan but they do make some great mid woofers and subs. So i would like to see if their amps are up to par or they are just b.s ing about their amps or if they are official. Thanks alot
Hello from Cyprus, what you can say about that model what you think?
JVC KS-DR3001D MONO CLASS-D AMPLIFIER 800W
Can you Dyno the cheap SPX Amps pep boys sold as 10” and 12” subwoofer systems
Renegade is Rockford?Thought it was Audiovox. Either way, it is a cheap ( and not good ) line.
just bought me a jbl gtx 500 refurb $70 seems to do its rated power
Alway 1 thumb down when im early. Why? Who is this one person?
Ryan Blankenship no doubt. Good stuff though. Thanks. Because of your channel I now own a Wolfram amp. And this thing is beautiful and powerful.
actually, at the start it says Rockford distributes renegade audio!, not that they own it. 2 different things!!!
ryan, you should have shown that page, then we would have seen, they are owned by Rockford!, i hope they dont pull a maxxsonics!
Took=bought off Offer up
Fosgate and Orion have the el cheapo lines. I think those lines tarnish the company names. Should stick with quality.
5:30 you said sum 2 4ohm subwoofers down to 2 ohm does it apply to DVC?
I don't understand why you are not using the same method of measuring as the manufacturer. They used 80Hz signal and you are using 40Hz. I know is that much but the purpose of this video is to see if the claim on paper reflects reality.
Amy dyno doesnt have a 80hz option, and 80hz wouldnt have changed the results by much. Note that RF didnt dispute the results. Only the distributorship vs ownership
Here in the EU... Renegade audio it rated among the worst money can buy 😅
I would really like to see a hifonics zues elite 2500 amp dyno. I can not find anyone who has tested it. I have one and it seems to do what is says with 2 audiopipe bd4's draining 2 batteries (Optima reds) I would love to see the truth some time. Thanks for your time.

I thought they were only $59 my bad
You didn't set the AD-1 to the "EU" setting before running the test did you.
😂😂
Did ya open it up to try to find any rf stamping?
We want zapcoooowwwww😜 i think i have seen this brand at walmart or somewhere cant exactly remember. So basically this is rockfords walmart brand
Xesar Rx Zapco's budget amp couldn't do it's rated power.
O I see. U have any experience with them? Are their amp's CEA ratings accurate? I would assume, but ya just never know these days.
Yes ryan did test one about 6 months ago.. Dont think it hit it numbers. Also big D tested two i believe.
I will go with power acoustic at least it did 657@2ohms
Cooley Numpsey Power Acoustik is one of the worst amps I have ever owned!
mem10fan2 I have The rzr 2500d I took in on a trade and it hasn't quit yet on my thrown together scrap daily setup. For a cheap mini mono amp it does the job and powers the skar vvx8v3 sometimes too well which was taken car of by the sub sonic filter it has built in. For a cheap amp it does its job well.
logan carrey yeah it does 600+ but claimed it does 800 still overrated and overpriced
Nicholas Cortez the exact amp I'm talking about sells for $70 and is a mini amp. It does decent work for the price point and even better considering the form factor.
I have a older renegade 850 rms @2ohms pretty sure its pumping more then 300 watts to my subs . cause i beat down the block.
Disappointment with these newer amps for sure
I love lighting audio stuff to
id like to see it at 100hz. it may do rating at higher frequency. but thats disappointing if its owned by RF
Ryan Blankenship wishful thinking ;) lol its disappointing. not only over rated on the box using "max" but in the manual >.>
So disappointed. I blew my Jl audio 1000/1. I bought a Renegade Ren850 for $10 at a yard sale. Then bought another off ebay. Have them on separate alpine type r 10's and they bang really loud. Mine are class a/b tho...throughly happy with 2 Ren850 amps. .
Does a renegade rxv1200 handle its rated 300w rms?
Rockford's Prime line of amps are sub par too.
A old jensen 300 back in the 1990's would at least do almost 300 watts.
Shut up gavin Jensen sucks
Why does everyone think the only thing that makes a good amp is power. Damping s/n thd all important
JVC KS-DR3001D MONO CLASS-D AMPLIFIER 800W is good amplifier for my subwoofer pioner 1200 wat
BigD wiz+ Dyno+UA-cam= keeping them honest lol !
Except I am not BigDWiz
😆...Funny!
you were expecting 700w rms for $69, so that means you think a 350w rms amp should only cost $35, good luck with that!!!
No.. I expect a manufacturer to put on the box how the amp performs..... BTW I did test a 700w amp for $69... so.. yeah lol
Lol
Distribute doesnt mean Manufacture! lol
Can someone please do an amp dyno on the autotek mm 4020.1d i bought one and it seems to do pretty well. You can get it for 150 or so but i cant find any dyno vid on this amp.please, please, please
