👍Matt, well done for saving the Jag. So glad you saved this. I own a ‘13 XF 3.0 S portfolio (red with black leather and black alcantara). Like some of the others here I love it and it still feels special. Great cars.
When i buy a car and i find out its got expensive tyres on it brings a smile to my face because i know the car will of been well cared for. Ppl dont put expensive tyres on shite
Tyres are your connection with the road. It doesn't make sense to buy a car a manufacturer has beautifully tuned to handle well only to put cheap rubber on it. I have made that mistake once replacing pirellis on an Alfa Mito with Firestone ones. Which should be midrange so I'd have expected better. It completely messed up the handling. Very unpredictable understeer. The difference is biggest in the wet. As you cruise on a wet motorway its comforting to know that if you accidentally hit a patch of water the car is less likely to react badly and will stop quicker in an emergency. Cheap corsa mostly driven in town. Absolutely put cheap tyres on but a Jaguar. Just no!
Stunning car Matt. Well done. Shame a Jaguar XF with 85k miles would be deemed a non runner due to a wiring loom issue. There must be lots of other cars going to scrapie with lots of life left in them.
What’s odd is the Auntie’s friend in Surrey is probably minted ( money grows in the fields of Surrey) and she could have paid Jag to fix it. Too much hassle I guess. Buy a new car instead 🙂🙂 All in jest , of course.
I remember seeing a you tube video where the locking mechanism on a Bentley Continental cost a whopping £,1800 plus vat, and that was for an exchange unit. And apparently it was a common problem and canny people figured out it was the same as a mechanism the parent company put in a big VW and cost much less.
That is one beautiful car Matt, I think you’ve bought a good one there. Of course over spending is the rule on this channel, but hopefully there will be some profit for you. It looks every bit the prestige car it should now.

I owned a 2015 XF 3.0D V6 Portfolio for 2.5 yrs before I bought my first F-Type...great car apart from those frikkin malfunctioning door locks - had to get a specialist to replace all 4.
Hi Matt, I had a laugh when you said Jaguar Land Rover garages are always busy. We live near Belfast and my , petrol head son bought a beautiful Range Rover 4.4l diesel from a dealer in Southampton. He flew to Southampton, picked it up and brought it to Dublin on the ferry. The very next day, it died!, nothing would work. The local Land Rover dealers couldn’t look at it until June, this was in March. He got a LR specialist to collect it but he couldn’t find what was wrong, the computer was sent to somewhere in England to be reprogrammed to no avail. Another specialist had look at it, he couldn’t sort it. It was now September and my son was braised off, the dealer in Southampton said he would refund him, but he had to get it to Dublin for collection at the ferry. That was a bit of a pain, but his boss had a Range Rover and he hired a trailer, so off it went. The Range Rover didn’t break down thankfully, and he bought a very nice Audi S4 to ferry his greyhound about in. Don’t think he will be any more Range Rovers, although he had a very old one once before and it was OK, like you he is a fan, so you never know. In the circumstances I think the dealer who sold it to him must have tearing his hair out, but I think he OK about it all. Keep up the good work, by the way, I am now a Volvo fan, I bought an XC60 D5 from my son!. Regards, David.
In Australia,we fit dash mats across the top of the dash. Theyre designed for the car with cutouts for the airbag, airvents etc. They do the job, save the dash from the UV in our ozzie 45deg summers... 🍺🍻😊

Hi Matt, I can't believe that you're happy with the margin on that car. Your customer will be laughing all the way to the bank, but the good words they will spread about your business, will be priceless.😀
I bought a 2010 xfs 275bhp for £5800 with a 15 month warranty a few months back. What a car!!! British racing green with black leather. The dash has started to lift slightly by the window on the drivers side but im not overly bothered, not £700 bothered anyways! These are great motors, the warranty has just paid out for an upper wishbone on the front, the part was something like £300. So im glad i got the warranty. 15 month warranty will save me a few quid over the next year id imagine. I had a restricted perfomance thing come up a few weeks after buying it, i had floored it really hard in sport and dynamic mode in manual....they proper shift, it came on....stopped the car, restarted and it went. I informed the warranty company who said they would pay for diagnostics, they said it was one of three things, one being the manifolds which they wouldn't cover as its a known fault on these things, the code that came up was something to do with sticking wastegate, however, it's not come back, but if it does, they will pay to sort it woop woop!!!! I love it when an audi pulls up and thinks they are going to smoke you only to be left very dissapointed. Im pretty sure mines been mapped as its got relentless power that throws you back in the seat and tries to peel the tarmac from the road ;)
How can you get 4 wheels refurbished for 180 quid? That's an amazing price and they always seem to do a super job. Here in Australia it costs the equivalent of 660 pounds to have 4 wheels like those done.
Matt, if only all used car dealers were as honest & fair in your trade!!! i would definitely buy pre loved vehicle from you.!!! Best in health and in your business !
Some might say £5500 is a lot of money for a fourteen y/o car. But with the belt done, fully serviced no advisory MOT its Great value. Just be aware they will start taxing non Euro six diesels off the road within the next five years.
That car park at the repairers is a view into the future indeed a future scrap yard all those JLR’s. Such nice looking and plagued with silly faults. My mate bought an 09 brand new for about 38k. Did over 200k had two auto boxes replaced and dpf.the interior was a joy. The seats gorgeous. I drove it 3.0d what a beautiful car. Replaced with E class Mercedes just doesn’t seem the same
I’ve just finalised a 2012 3l diesel S from a jag specialist and will be collecting it next week. Only reason it needs a week is because I’ve asked them to do the cambelt a full service and a fresh MOT
Still a great car though Matt. i was surprised to hear you say about the collection guys not being able to move the car originally. When i had my S-type collected they put dolly tracks under the wheels to pull it up on a flat back because my auto handbrake module had failed. Even though it was fairly local to transport it to for repair only charged £60.
i bought an XF SV8 sbout 2 months ago and its a great car, and its got the 4.2 supercharged V8 which is a great engine, with it being the SV8 its got nearly every extra too!
That is a stunning car. Assuming this is the 6cyl 3.0L Petrol this would be a $20k car here in Australia, more if it is the 8cyl 5.0L Petrol. I am constantly amazed at the prices of second-hand cars in the UK. One thing that didn't surprise me was that the Jaguar/Land Rover specialist was always busy.
It's true we have cheap cars in the UK, but everything else - Fuel, insurance, road tax, service/labour, is eyewateringly expensive! Our roads are also in shockingly bad condition and heavily congested with more speed cameras popping up daily so its hard to enjoy motoring in this country even if you do have a nice car.
@@soundseeker63 We don't have cheap cars in UK especially. Yes, you can find old jalopies cheap, as you can anywhere, but our cars are far more expensive than in other countries. Have you looked at second hand car prices lately?
Back in the day I went from Mercedes E280 to An Jaguar XF as per company policy it was replaced with BMW 5, I purchased XF from leasing company and my Wife ran it for next six years, was excellent car full of character and did 120.000 miles regular services ensuring mostly trouble free ownership, certainly more relevant than BMW that needed a replacement engine after 18.000 miles..
When you compare this video to the one you did four years ago on a XF,you can see how far you have come with the quality of the video,I am looking at buying an XF but it needs to be newer than 2010 so i can put a personalised plate on it hence the interest in XF content
Also just had a broken wire repaired on my XF Sportbrake by my local Jaguar main dealer. Four hours labour at £160 per hour and that's with a 10% discount for the car being over 3 yrs old. So far the repair seems to have been a success.
That's going to be a great buy for someone, especially with the cambelt replaced, which is the main worry when buying an older car, even with a modest mileage as belts can deteriorate with age and wreck the engine without warning. All the main things have been done, it should just be a case of enjoying a nice car which should last for years, for a price less than a new suv would depreciate in it's first year.
Yep Matt 500 ish for water pump and cam belt ,that’s what I paid 18 months ago.Only trouble with my Jaguar is sometimes getting parts. My mechanic is having a nightmare getting a rear wheel bearing . Now I can understand say it being difficult getting some bits that on the whole last for ever . But a wheel bearing. To be fair to Jaguar they are not the only manufacturer that has a supply issue in the UK.
I love these I’m actually looking at buying one xf s I’m looking about now I keep going back to them .currently insignia sports tourer elite £20 tax the jag is £300 ,but you get what you pay for
The Jag facelift models remain one of the best designs bar none. This 2009 car could be a 2023 model. Shame the build quality is so poor. I was seriously tempted 2 years ago in buying the XF sportsbrake. Your reviews at the time steered me away, which I'm thankful for. Nice work, Matt. That still looks like a £10K car.
I bought mine XF 2.7 probanly an year and a half ago running for 700£ ! I did not drive it as i had other cars . I spent a week ago 400£ on it for MOT , rear brake pads , used rear calipers , air con regas , sort out the boot ripped wire , sort out the drivers side door handle , oil and filter replacent and I took it on a 1600 mile trip to my country where it would spend it's life here for me to enjoy it when i'm back for holidays . I only need to do front brake discs and to sort out the ac leakage .
Hate the walnut . Mines carbon fibre . Much nicer . My issues were washer bottler low warning light and rear bumper bar with exhaust mount. It rotted and fell off . Bit disappointing . Nightmare to put right . Absolutely love the car it's a dream . 11 plate by the way .
another great video matt...... I'm wondering if there are supporters of your channel who like me..... would like to know what you drive when you go to see what you have bought in the videos..... keep em coming 👌👌👌
Jags are such good value at the moment, even the xe is miles cheaper than the 3 series. Really want to buy my next car from you guys, these videos show everything is done properly, no stone left unturned
@@soddinnutter5633 exactly. If you're going to do a job, do it right. If it was just an inch, fine, but that whole dash was a write off. If he could have repaired it without replacing it he would have done it.
I used to work at JLR and these dashboards (like all of them I expect) are ready assembled and then fitted as one piece. Makes it easier at the factory but a nightmare to get at later on. One assembly line worker was traced and eventually fired for not putting securing radio cables in the dash to the trays and they would flap about knocking on things and causing a slew of customer complaints. Ninety grand for a Range Rover with something rattling around under the dash - then the fix was thousands in main dealer labour hours to resolve....
Hi Matt, I own one of these beauties it's a 3.0d XFS 2009 and I absolutely love driving it, so quiet, smooth and powerful and hasn't aged a bit although it's done a whopping 153K it also gives a certain London mayor nightmares.

“My trimmer” made me laugh…sounds like my “my manscaper” ✂️ 😂
Gorgeous car. Well worth the effort. Typical Matt in doing the right thing. What a great dealer and decent guy.
Wish I could get my alloys refurbed for around £50 a corner. Where I live near Basingstoke it’s a minimum of £100
👍Matt, well done for saving the Jag. It's worth every penny of your advertised price when one considers the quality of the XF, how they drive and the fact that a big job in the form of cambelts will have been done. A suggestion to save you time - record "I've massively overspent" and just clip it into the beginning of every video. 🤣
So glad you saved this. I own a ‘13 XF 3.0 S portfolio (red with black leather and black alcantara). Like some of the others here I love it and it still feels special. Great cars.
Such a beautiful car, I love Jaguars. A really ageless design that one. Looks like it drives beautifully 👍🏻😀
Saved one from the junk yard. Now looks very clean. Thanks for the video and good luck with the sale.
Thanks 👍
When i buy a car and i find out its got expensive tyres on it brings a smile to my face because i know the car will of been well cared for. Ppl dont put expensive tyres on shite
Thats 100% true
Buy a new car instead 🙂🙂
All in jest , of course.
Matt is the man, no debate. Learn sooo much from his videos. And for reviews on super luxury cars it's Harry and his garage. Both are so practical....wise one migh comment. Thanks guys.
Well done Matt!!
What a lovely car!!
Always have a huge soft spot for an XF!!!
You do get your hands on some great cars ( even if you spend more than you planned ).
And you always turn them round properly.
Well done!!
You saved a Jag that someone will cherish 👍
Loved my XF. Nice to see that one saved. Worth the effort I think.
Glue might have been cheaper than a new dash............Your vendors must all love you and your "I bought a cheap..." I hope they take care of you at Christmas :-)
"I've massively overspent" - knew it was going to be a good one 👍
The FX Shaguar's are always a good looking car even today. Thumbs Up !!
Somebody has a belting XF , and its been a different experience for you with a profit, not a loss . Result .
You are tte most honest car trader i have ever come across , and i love your channel 👍 .
Pay your bills before you pay your self. That should be what every business does. Shame everyone does not have the same attitude as you. You always seem to turn out some great cars in the end even if your profit margin gets eroded. Another great video.
Great content, Matt. Another lovely car given a fresh lease of life and thank you for being so candid about the highs and lows on the expenditure. It all builds trust, which can only be good for your business.👍
You really did a great job here, a car of this calibre should remain road worthy.
High peak auto time
CAR VERTICAL
Lights need a Buff
You can just see it was unloved
I've massively overspent on this
Hmmmm
Enjoyed this vid, your direct style is most entertaining :)
I'm not a fan of grey cars usually but that is absolutely stunning, currently trying to work on the other half with man math's..... she doesn't seem to be falling for it this time!
Matt, I’m probably being sa twit and missed it, but in your final totting up for profit margin. Did you forget cam belt and water pump replacement. I hope for your sake I got this wrong? Many thanks for continuing with really interesting and very well presented videos. I previously had for about a year an Indigo blue XFR. Really loved it, the most comfortable powerful and handsome car I’ve ever owned.
Saint Matt, saviour of old cars. Well done again.
Well done Mstt - shows honesty pays in business!!
I had an 09 XF, the 3.0 V6. It was the best saloon car I've ever had.
That is a great looking car for the price and after two years as a daily still will be £2000+ all day long! Informative video again Matt and wish I could get my cars fixed for those reasonable costs! 😊
Hi Matt, I can't believe that you're happy with the margin on that car. Your customer will be laughing all the way to the bank, but the good words they will spread about your business, will be priceless.😀
I have a soft spot for the Jaguar XF. Always looks graceful and the interior looks great too!
You know a cars been cared for when it’s sat on a nice set of Michelins
The first time I’ve watched High Peak Autos, what an engaging and pleasant guy, and a lovely save for the Jag and it’s next owner
Thank you. I appreciate it
How can you get 4 wheels refurbished for 180 quid? That's an amazing price and they always seem to do a super job. Here in Australia it costs the equivalent of 660 pounds to have 4 wheels like those done.
Matt, if only all used car dealers were as honest & fair in your trade!!! i would definitely buy pre loved vehicle from you.!!! Best in health and in your business !
Well Matt that was a better park than a previous one; no bin! The car is a good one and someone will be very happy with it.
Lovely looking car, you've done some great work there.
Thats honesty for you !
Hi great job on the jag, very nice car, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
i bought an XF SV8 sbout 2 months ago and its a great car, and its got the 4.2 supercharged V8 which is a great engine, with it being the SV8 its got nearly every extra too!
Another top job fella, kudos to you. Love the XF.
Many thanks!
Given the year I think it's the 2.7/8l diesel.
Relevant should read reliable 😂
Thanx for listening and talking less about Carvertical.... Nice car.
The labour cost for replacing the top part of the dash is outrageous!
And a very ‘neat’ figure of £660 too… suspicious…
Love the way your videos show the reality of the trade. Thankyou
When you compare this video to the one you did four years ago on a XF,you can see how far you have come with the quality of the video,I am looking at buying an XF but it needs to be newer than 2010 so i can put a personalised plate on it hence the interest in XF content
Yes, a proper thespian, he now is! 😀
Ah, nice one, Matt... And what a lot of quality car for £5k! 👌
Very worthwhile, someone is going to be a lucky owner. Great work Matt, even if it’s bread and cheese for dinner until November.
Car looks great Mat, credit to you for saving it👍
I bought mine XF 2.7 probanly an year and a half ago running for 700£ ! I only need to do front brake discs and to sort out the ac leakage .
well done MATT you crossed the 333k subscribers now ... we need more videos lol
Matt. Another project sorted. Another vehicle that someone can buy with confidence.
another great video matt...... I'm wondering if there are supporters of your channel who like me..... would like to know what you drive when you go to see what you have bought in the videos.....
keep em coming 👌👌👌
_"I've massively overspent."_
Of course you did, Matt.... It's a Jaguar. 😉
Stunning car now. Hopefully it sold. Interesting video Matt.
Jags are such good value at the moment, even the xe is miles cheaper than the 3 series. Really want to buy my next car from you guys, these videos show everything is done properly, no stone left unturned
She looks fantastic. What a great result. New owner is getting a gorgeous,, fully sorted prestige car!!
beautiful car, matt. i have one. 1 year older (145k) and i absolutely love it.
XF owner here. What a car and what a transformation!
I had a mini heart attack when you said the bill to fit that dash. Personally I would of used strong adhesive to stick it back on.
That would have looked terrible
You could bodge it with gorilla or t-rex glue, but it would look ugly, since the leather warped and shrank due to sun damage.
Always looking forward to your videos! Have a great weekend.
Glad you like them!
Excellent! You can now borrow your neighbors' belongings any time you like!
Your attention to detail is fantastic, you deserve to succeed! 😊
Thanks
Hi Matt, I own one of these beauties it's a 3.0d XFS 2009 and I absolutely love driving it, so quiet, smooth and powerful and hasn't aged a bit although it's done a whopping 153K it also gives a certain London mayor nightmares.
