I really like her. She’s pretty straight forward and wise. She knows something about the world more than others.
She's great! Hope she has some future opportunities to come to the US and do some lectures either at universities or other large venues or maybe even just a lecture she hosts on UA-cam be it live or recorded and posted. Amazing woman, soldier and overall person!
I was thinking the same, there's a lot of institutions here that would love to hear her speak even with translation. She's smart and has a different perspective.
What a strong and amazing woman she is
Small correction: in the US, you become an adult at 18. Not 19.
According to Korean age system, babies are considered 1 yr old on the day they're born. So when a child turns 1 yr, he actually is 2 yrs in Korean age.
In Korea, the day a person is born is considered their first birthday. So the soldier she says is 17 is actually 16 by our measurement, and when she says 19 years old, it's the same as 18 years old by our measurement.
Yes, but that's confusing.
한국에서는 태아를 생명으로봅니다. 그래서 태어나면 1살로 보는거죠
I thought it was 17 years ago earliest to enlist. Maybe thats ROTC
We like her. Hope she is well. She hasn’t posted In awhile 😔

I love this woman.
She's strong and has such a beautiful soul.
I like her im very interesting to hear her story about her time in north korea army as young lady, RESPECT
She hasn't heard of John Chapman. All I will say
It seems those citizen soldiers could be classified as part of a paramilitary force (similar to border patrol or even police) rather than a military force.
The way I characterize the North Korean military is that they have a very powerful punch (due to their size and their massive artlillery if nothing else), but also a short punch due to their poor logistics train. Also, they have poor endurance, agains due to their logistics (or lack of it).
An amazing and wonderful woman.
I love her, but i have to disagree. A tall, healthy person is much more likely to win a fight against a smaller, malnourished person.
You completely misread what she said. She said the malnourished person has enough strength to stab.
North Koreans will definitely not win, but they can still cause some serious damage, just from their willpower alone. Never underestimate the power of brainwashing.
She is basically saying never underestimate your enemy regardless of their body size because they still have the capability to shoot or stab you to death. She's not talking about a fist fight in the ring like you were thinking. This is war.
Wow, what an incredible and tough woman and soldier in every aspect. I was somehow still surprised that her five major near death experiences were all medical related though I don’t know why.
I don’t understand the part about sleep deprivation though. Why was the North Korean military forcing everyone into extreme sleep deprivation and forcing them to clean their weapons when it’s obvious that it’s killing them in large numbers?
As for her opinion on malnourished soldiers being smaller and weaker and thus less effective, I have to disagree. Smaller and weaker people frequently lose in fights to bigger and stronger opponents. That’s how the majority of r@pes happen. Of course smaller and weaker people can still be dangerous. Older and less advanced weapons can still be deadly but the advantage is always in the superior weapon’s favour unless outmatched in another factor like numbers.
For simple examples, pit the average woman against the average man against each other in a fight, assuming same age, health and training and the man will almost always win. Bring a knife to a gunfight and you’ll probably lose. Bring a pistol against an AK rifle and you’ll probably lose. Pit the most ultra modern cutting edge fighter jet against one made in the 1950s or 1960s and the old one probably won’t even see it coming on radar let alone put up a fight.
It doesn't really matter who's bigger or smaller its whoever has F-35s wins
I gotta say one thing, if they really spend 3 years learning about their rifles and still have so many fatal accidents while cleaning them, then you have to wonder why the level of ignorance is so high among the troops. Even tired and exhausted men know to clear your weapon and ensure it is safe before touching the trigger.
You can join the US military at 17 also just need parental sign off
I have a strange question about the female National Guard. Why are they wearing heels?😮
Hand up if you think that North Korea military has 90% of their soldiers can do a 5 mile march carrying a 50 pound of gear.
I'm very sure that all if not mist of the active marines in the USA can do that.
For for a very poor and starving country as north Korea, i feel less than 0.001% can even meet that physical standard
That wasn't her point. Her point was: DO NOT underestimate your enemy. Just because South Korea and the U.S. have a technological advantage in supplies and weapons doesn't mean that they will come out of a fight completely unscathed if war were to break out. Don't think that the KPA will not be able to fight....and kill, just because they have antiquated weapons. As long as their soldiers have enough strength to pull the trigger and their weapons will fire, they will have the ability to cause casualties to their enemies.
So thinking that the North Korean army will simply run away, collapse, or surrender without a fight is dangerous thinking...and THAT is her main point.
I feel so horrible for north Koreans. Because of their leader they are misled
