Not saying this out of negativity, but rather because I would like more help: I don't really think this video qualifies as a "complete" setup video without showing how to install obse and the 4gb ram patcher. Without them, modding oblivion is very limited. Really want a "decked-out" oblivion (pun intended), but the 4gb patcher is proving to be a difficult hurdle. [To be clear, your videos have been very helpful to me in the past; your skyrim modding video was the clearest and easiest to follow I've found!]
videos like this and his linux series is why i started following alex and since almost two years ago following the community and live streams on saturday is why i stayed. Alex is my father and the GOAT
For anyone having an issue with the organizer crashing when trying to create a new instance download the version of mod organizer that’s used in the video the latest 5.0 version seems to cause the crash
As always Alex you delivered again for me bud! Your instructions were clear, easy, and friendly. I got it working just like you and am so excited to play this classic on the Deck. You never cease to amaze me on what the Steam Deck can do. Thank you again.
When I did this it asked me to create new prefixes i clicked ok. Then wouldn't show me the second pop up when I clicked install sh. I might of messed up .
Hi, thanks for your TES videos on steam deck. I am trying to play Oblivion for the first time with full controller support so I need OBSE and NorthernUI but I am struggling to get this to work. Have you managed to get these to work with MO2? Could you do a video about it if you get the chance? Thanks!
I never actually left a comment to thank you for your earlier videos about installing mods on Steam Deck, as I followed your video on Fallout to install a heavily modded Oblivion just about 3 weeks ago. If it weren't for your videos I wouldn't have known otherwise of the Linux Mod Organizer 2 installer. I'm a long-time modder and know MO2 and most of the tools associated with patching, merging, &c most of the games associated with its use, but Linux is mostly new to me with the Steam Deck and I wasn't sure how I could get it to work. Not only does it work, but with Wine and the other tools mentioned in your videos installed, so do all of the programs run from within MO2 that I've tried so far, so Wrye Bash, FNVEdit, and so forth. The only thing that remained for me to figure out was where the actual mods were installed, since this version of MO2 installs game-specific instances and I had to figure out the Steam ID for each game in order to change variables in configuration files and such like. As a Morrowind man myself, I am sincerely grateful for your videos that enabled me to get set up. I didn't think I'd be able to run both my basic Morrowind with script extender plugins (which comprise the majority of my favorite mods for it) and OpenMW on the Steam Deck, so it is seriously awesome to have that option. Lately however I've had my annual Fallout obsession arrive a bit early, so I've been going all out catching up on the New Vegas mods I've missed during my absence. Mods like B42 Optics, the Wristwatch and Dropmag, certain gun mods like the Automag and the AWO SPAS 12, Perk Styled Icons and the Revelation Like UI for JIP CCC, they are just blowing my mind. I'm guessing I'm somewhere around a similar age as you; I was 12 when the first Fallout released and got to play it a few months later at a friends house. When the second game released I borrowed my cousin's computer to download a copy using his blazing fast DSL and burned it to a blank disc, and playing it later that night on my family computer was a religious experience for me. Anyway, thanks again for your setup guide videos, I've been watching for a long time now and wanted to share my enthusiasm.
Going to be honest, if you are looking for the controller mod for oblivion ( northernui ) youre better off installing windows, as it is not compatible with this version of mod organizer 2.
Hey I’m trying to install it for fallout 3 goty. But when I try to move it like you did 4:24 it doesn’t say that I can move it to anywhere? It only has create a backup and Verify the files
When I choose global instance it can't find anything related to steam. When I choose mobile instance it finds the folder but says it doesn't recognize anything as Oblivion. It pulls up a Windows-style folder navigation thing that I can't use the steam keyboard with. Edit: I had to plug in a keyboard to get it to find the proper folder as .steam wasn't visible.
works perfectly that far, but I can't figure out how to install everything that isn't an .esm or .esp file. like 4gb ram patcher and xOBSE with MenuQue i'm trying to do one of the essentials collections on Nexus (Lazy's Oblivion Essentials) and then wanted to go from there adding the mods that i want myself, but i can't even get to that point :( btw i suggest NorthernUI for anyone using a controller, works perfect on my windows pc where i can use the Nexus mod loader instead of this MO2 thing
So personally I got mod organiser 2 to work however after frustratingly trying to install and get it to work it finally did however I was prompted to update mod organizer 2 then it completely broke and now I can't do anything so I uninstalled everything and deleted as much as I could I am now hoping to find maybe a different tutorial video that might help because i am lost herec
Great tutorial, I've got mods up and running, but I can't adjust the settings while in game. It defaults to 640 for some reason. Is anyone else having the same issue?
Where's your updated video about modding on skyrim? I watched one before that said you'd have one son but it's still not up yet. I used your fallout video to install fallout 4 and it works great! Love your videos, very informative even if I don't need the information 😂
Quick question, do I need to install obse as well for some mods to function correctly like on PC? And if so how do I navigate to the oblivion folder on Steam deck to put the OBSE stuff?
Late reply, but answering anyway in case anybody else has the same question. If you're in desktop mode just go to oblivion in your steam library, right-click, mouse over 'manage' and select 'browse local files.' A window will then pop up showing your local files for Oblivion.
How does it not work on the SD card? I have my Skyrim mod playthrough with over 300 mods on the SD card. The Skyrim installation and Mod Organizer are both on the SD card.
Is there something wrong with the newest version of the mod installer 2? It just opens some console command thing despite the game being on my deck(don’t have a SD) and following all of your steps
My game crashes whenever I try to run MO2 for Oblivion specifically, and for some reason it'll also install Oblivion Script Extender on its own. I'm not sure what's going on.
Please please please, help! got it to work bit my stupid ass never changed the resolution and grapical settings before going forward and now can't get the original launcher to show because the MO2 laucher shows up. i'm stuck with a terrible resolution....
I assume there is a setting in steams options to choose primary install Drive, there is on windows version anyway. Should be exactly the same. I would think the OS Drive would be selected by default.
@@Dominus1302 So far everything is working for me. The only thing I haven't done is an ENG and the 4gb patch. But I've gone through most of the overhauls to find my fav, and I've downloading like 30 quest mods. Pretty much everything works, I would just suggest making sure you don't get two mods that change the same thing on the right side of MO2. If you don't know the left side of M02 declares the load orders for things like textures, animations, visuals, etc. While the right side declares the load order for things like what is at a certain location, what the terrain looks like, where a certain npc will be, what a quest looks like, etc. So for example if you get the better cities mod then it might be hard to get other mods that change up cities a lot to work. Don't try getting 2 vampire overhauls at the same time, stuff like that For mods that I do suggest, I would suggest getting the OUT texture pack on Nexus, and if you like it the QTP3 texture pack on Nexus. Use those as a baseline texture pack. And since it's a texture, then on the right side of M02 go ahead and put any textures you want to overwrite these two packs at a higher number on the left. Personally I prefer the QTP3 texture pack, but it's not as complete as the OUT texture pack. So for example I have OUT in priority 1, QTP3 in priority 2, and anything i find to replace something in those two in priority 3+
Just wondering if you will be revisiting your Skyrim video, maybe adding in something for Fallout 4? I do have Skyrim set up how you recommended, was curious how to leverage that to also get FO4 working; I remember setting up a script extender, but since the versions were not the latest and greatest, I was a bit concerned about setting it up. I just ended up installing it using the mod capability presented in Bethesda's game menu. All the mods I wanted aren't available, but it did have everything for Sim Settlements 2, so I'm relatively happy.
