I just learned about this style of music today in 2024 …. I have no attachment to it , but reading the comments , it’s so nice to see this was a part of people’s lives . This to me sounds like something from TV…. I love Louisiana Culture
I lived in Lousiana for five years and lived in NOLA and spend some good time in Houma. The Cajun people are wonderful, kind hearted and authentic souls. And the food and music are amazing.
Isnt it fun to just discover a whole new genre of music? And to think its 100% American and 100% Louisiana. I havent had a big musical awakening in awhile. I need to keep my ears open because im ready for something new :)
You need to plan a trip to Cajun country... I suggest you start with Lafayette, Louisiana. Plenty of good food and good music - you can't possibly go wrong.
My feet start dancing to the Cajum rhythm all by themselves. I have to be careful, otherwise I'll dance from Germany to the swamps of Louisiana. Cajun rulez!
Same, i moved to the north, i miss Louisiana so much, i grew up hearing this music all the time. Don't get me started on how we'd rock this at the crawfish boils as loud as possible!
I’m from NOLA and although I now live in San Diego, I always miss and love these special sounds unique to my home state. There’s always a reason to celebrate life in Louisiana, I’ll always love my roots and upbringing there.⚜️🖤💛
Vive la Louisiane, vive le cajun, vive le Bayou. From a french cousin. You will be always our cousin people from Louisiana 🇫🇷🤝🇺🇸 We don’t forget you friends. God speed 🙏
I reside in Australia and visited New Orleans 1995 where I first heard this music that brought such joy to my life. It celebrates life as the joyous celebration it was meant to be, plus New Orleans and it's people, just the tops - loved everything about the people, the place and of course the music. Thankyou.💕💕💕
Will always remember the years I lived in New Orleans and a few other spots in SE Louisiana. It’s a place like no other with people like nowhere else. Still tugs at my heart five years after leaving even though I’m now in NYC which has the same effect. It’s like being in love with two women at once equally
I live in the Mountains of North East Tennessee and have a love for music and culture and this is me through and through. Great music and I love the food too.
Oh gosh i miss my beloved Zydeco music while eating crawfish at the boils in Louisiana( It's how i found out i'm allergic to shellfish but that hasn't stopped me from eating it). I'm a Creole from Southwest Louisiana.
THANK YOU ALL, FOR BRINGING ME BACK TO MY ROOTS, LOVE MUSIC, LOVE ALL, PLAYING IT, LOVE DANCING TO IT, LOVE THE FOODS, LOVE THE SMILES, LOVE IT ALL, THANK YOU ALL, FOR EVERYTHING, YOU DO SO WELL, MISS THE FISHING, MISS THE PEOPLE, MISS, ALL, WANT TO COME BAKE, BUT STUCK
Same, i miss boudain!!! The northeast has no good cajun/creole food. I miss jazz, zydeco, crawfish boils, small town mardi gras that isn't centered around tourism, i miss it all.
Love this music! It's a bucket list trip to go to Louisiana and travel all over the state just to eat the food. And see the scenery as well. Seeing the food on this video is making me hungry lol
I ate the food for 39 years, thanks to my Grandma Inez. Butter, salt, garlic, bacon grease and hot sauce make everything taste good and must be good for you, because she lived to 103! I was fortunate to have her write all of her recipes down for me while she still could. I've managed to perfect the red beans and rice, so far...
You have to stop in Central Grocery on Decatur St. and get a muffaletta! I do every time I go to the French Quarter. Luckily, I only live about an hour and a half away:).
i was introduced to this genre in san diego(1995 - 6) where the blues musicians butcher it so..then i went to nola and LOVED it more. such a happy genre.
Spent 30 years at Kessler AFB, Mississippi over 1/2 a summer. Got lots of Cajun music, good eats off base, and a trip or two New Orleans. Avoid the hookers and stay in a group and you could stay safe. Back before sun screen, hearing protection, and "Red" heat days. Wonder we survived!
So joyous and celebratory. Happy and uplifting tunes. Accordion, fiddle, banjo, guitar, upright bass, trombone, harmonica, snare drum, tuba... happy, happy, happy. I'm here listening to Conan O'brien's podcast saying he got his band for the show based on them playing a Cajun style tune. It fits his playful personality. I didn't know what Cajun was and typed it into youtube and this came up. Awesome! It's like a celebration of the simple pleasures in life but in a positive way. Food, drink, dance, song, friendship, musical joy. There's not a hint of angst or darkness in it at all. Great for the soul.
I'm watching northen exposure on prime and they use this type of music. I think that's one reason people loved it so much. I could never identify the music when the show aired since the interweb was not available to the public back in the day. The close captioning told me the genre today 30 years later!! so I popped on here to find more. This type of music was also prominent in the twin peaks series, which I have tried to schzam with little luck. So I'm glad prime has northern exposure. It took 6 seasons for the cc to pop up the genre. I have to say I do love this type of music. However to me, it's more like polka music.. I have family in Europe and the polka music is inescapable. And I'm not complaining!!!! This zydeco music definitely has that polka sound and you just wanna get up and dance. It's so happy sounding. And that type of music is my favourite
I'm getting to be an old (or older) lady now and my knees and hips don't work, but after I get some physical therapy and maybe a knee replacement I plan to come down there and dance the zydeco. haha
Please keep making these videos with uplifting music and moving pictures/images. Everything I find with moving pictures has super relaxing music that's not suitable for my work environment. I've been searching a lot for videos like this with uplifting happy music. Good job. 👍👍
I'm planning a sweet sixteen for my daughter. It's princess and the frog. I want a band to play this beautiful music. I also plan to incorporate the food as well any suggestions? I have gumbo, beignets, fried chicken. Am I missing anything?
Ladies everywhere, learn how to make Sauce Piquant. Cajun Sauce Piquant. Add shrimp then serve over rice. Now you got Shrimp Sauce Piquant ! - Mais lààà, ça c'est bon ! Mais, everyone gonna comeback for the third bowl. Your husband gonna love you forever more.

Hi can you please tell me the best old town jazz bars around swampy areas around all the mystical parts are there any old time jazz bars near there?
@@stargirl6992 you won't find much live jazz out in the bayou. Zydeco is alot more common such as in this video.
This music is absolutely awesome! Full of spirit!

Love this music. This music is absolutely awesome ! Great music, great sound...from Chicago, Illinois. This is incredibly inspiring....
Thanks for listening
Great Music and photography! I found this looking for music to accompany my first attempt at red beans and rice.
The ancestors used to say when God made Louisiana He must have been here .
It took years, but I finally perfected Grandma Inez's red beans and rice. I used to love when she listened to Dr. John.
