I want to remove the dash to replace my head unit screen. Does anyone know if I can simply remove the side part like in the video, even if it has the Airbag deactivation lock?

Sorry for the late response here. I ordered OEM directly from bmw (dealership). I could not find any aftermarket pieces anywhere.
my g21 LCi has the same issue
but the screen is covered the trim, can I use the same way to remove the dash trim?
Yes, however, you should be able to remove the a/c vent itself without pulling the trim out. I discovered a better method after this video posted.

I had to order OE from my dealer. Not that expensive. There may be another avenue to order through, but I couldn’t find a genuine replacement, so I ordered direct 👍🏼
Man I wish you would actually show the removal part, that’s the hard part… I gave up after nearly breaking my dash 😢
Which removal piece are you referring to? Happy to help if I can!
You do NOT need to remove the entire dash to replace that. The dealer told me the same thing but you can buy the parts for the clips and just remove the vents individually. There’s a video on youtube for it

@@legacydriven I think mine was broke by vent mount phone holder that I try to keep cooling my phone while I use Wireless Android Auto and phone was too hot to drive long distance. I'm also trying to get vent part only not whole unit. I found oem part that comes whole vent assembly lol.

@@legacydriven Mine got fixed today. Actually, replaced blades that pins were broken.
I saw Peter Cheng's video and got blades parts only from local BMW dealer and did replace myself. All good for me and good luck for yours as well.
