INSANE Custom Steering Wheel for my G80 M3 | BMW F/G Series

This steering wheel has TOTALLY changed the cockpit of my G80 M3. The look, the feel, and the control are all upgraded. I love this new Carismo Design wheel. I've looked around at other options, and I wasn't always convinced to be honest. For an upgrade like this it has to BE the part, and not just LOOK the part. This wheel so far does both. Let me know what you think! Here’s the link to get yo...

We all put a lot of time, energy, and money into our cars and the last thing we need is for a FIRE (fuel, electrical, or unavoidable situation) to destroy our build. Having a PROPERLY equipped extinguisher in your car is a MUST to maintain that peace of mind. For those of us that track, or plan to track, our cars this is also a HUGE need to have installed when pushing your car to the limit. OEM...

First and foremost, this is NOT a video to scare you out of buying one of these awesome cars. What's not to love about a RWD, NA V8, M3 (manual in my case). I believe the E9X platform M3 will only continue to rise in popularity (and cost to purchase). NOW is the time to get your hands on one, keep it, and build it!.... in my opinion. Why the didnt you get full leather dude makes the interior look so cheap without it it isn’t even expensive as an option and you already spent so much money
I’ve had mine from 94k to 167k miles now. RB’s done right away and kept up with fluid/filters/plug replacements regularly. I’ve had most of the usual things go wrong with mine but I have zero desire to get rid of it and love every drive in it. It is relegated to biweekly drives now, which makes me appreciate it even more after spent away from it. Don’t be afraid but be ready for pricier maintenance. Learn to do it yourself, it’s not bad. 👍🏼
Wow seems like you’ve really enjoyed yours out on the road! That’s a lot of miles. Proper maintenance is absolutely key
What grille is that
It’s the CS style competition grille. This is where I got it from 👍🏼: bit.ly/4abZIOz
For some reason that extra stroke made it sound so much more like an American car 😅 but ima say I loved it
Haha for real! It sounded crazy in person 👊🏼😅
SST is more affordable
True, but I personally think the Dahler provides better quality and overall value. Just my opinion 👍🏼
@@legacydriven don’t they literally do the same thing? There isn’t much more you can provide than opening and closing a flap
Where can I buy those rubber washers?
Definitely! Here’s the ones I use that you see in my videos: amzn.to/3wKc5Tm
I love my BMW x5. We got same ambient lighting.
Awesome 👏 I love the interior of G05 😎
Good Content! I am planning run spacers and M performance HAS on my G80 Competition, trying to play safe, quick question, is the rear wheels hiting the upper trim of the fender with 12mm spacers currently? thx for the help!
Hey, thanks for the support! 🙏 and no I’m not making contact with the inner fender in the rear with 12mm spacers installed. I was running 15mm and those rubbed in higher speed bumps. No issues with the 12mm 👍🏼
@@legacydriven Thx for bring these to the community. Ur videos do help me big time. Appreciate it!!!
@@user-zm7pu7wy4s You’re welcome! Thanks for the feedback and support. Lots more content coming!
Ur gonna show the M SUV but not the e46?
What’s the setup here? Is it just the psi x pipe and valve controller? I have the same setup. I feel I get a pretty bad rattle when cold starting with valves closed and too loud with valves open.
Yes, that is the current setup. I agree, the cold start does have a bad metallic rattle. From my understanding it’s the valves inside the factory rear section that are rattling due to the increased airflow from the open midpipe. Aftermarket rear section should solve that problem.
I have a 2024 x4 m comp with same black seats. Do you know if this will fit on them?
I’m not sure! I would think not, but if you click the link in the video description it will take you to the site and you could input your vehicle to determine fitment.
@@legacydriven thanks
I screwed my ac, lost the little plastic part for the right ac knob wheel and the vent was broken of course ,bought another one wrong part, used the vent trim just to find out it was already repaired, I just ordered a second one. Hope it will work this time.
Oh wow! Sounds like a typical job working on cars 😅😂 hope it works for you this time! 👊🏼
Hi, G82 comp owner here. Congrats on your purchase. I’m coming off of two F82’s that were making 730 whp and 611 whp, respectively. As a result, the stock G8X came across as slow for me, (but faster than stock F8X). As a result; FEMTO public is underway.
Thanks! I appreciate it. Yeah I get that, after 700+ whp it’s hard to accept anything else stock 😅 and these G8X cars accept tunes really well. I’ll be unlocking my dme soon! 👊🏼
more impressed if you chose a manual but nice wheel
hell yeaa 😮
😎🙌🏼
does this make your car really go to 200 mph?
No, certainly not. Just gives you that sport dash used by the M models
HOPE your Bimmer starts after that fantastic cleaning. When your done come clean my bimmer.
Starts every time. As long as you know what you’re doing, use low pressure, no focus area, avoid direct spray into alternator and/or electrical panel, and then thoroughly dry you’re safe. I’ve done it for years. All “modern” cars are more or less “water tight” under the hood. Again just be aware and you’ll have no issues
Good guide 😎, a few notes though. Oil analysis is only any use for tracking bearing wear if you do it from the 1st oil change onwards of new bearings (with lead/copper bearings). The later tin/alu bearings also have copper underneath the embedding layer, but so far I haven't seen any wear that far through (although possibly to an intermediate nickel layer). All the shells have a steel backing. The embedding layer protects the cranks pins btw, not the rods. The BE ARP bolts are still the S2000 alloy AFAIK, not S625. Realoem shows the same air box for pre LCI and LCI 🤷 Tie rods will rust on high or low mileage cars, I had to heat the ones on my e90 330d with gas to free them off, lol (it's done 145k miles). They were otherwise fine, so no need to replace them for just that. Cars sitting around for a longtime doesn't cause black gearbox oil, it just happens with use. Re leaking shocks, unless it's really bad, you often won't notice it just by driving 😛 Recon diff for just a leaking seal? Seems a bit OTT... Nice M3 you have btw 😎, mine's an alpine white with black 19" wheels, slightly more miles than yours, had it nearly 5 years now (already!).
Thanks for watching 👍🏼 Sounds like you have a lot of experience with this platform. I appreciate the insights 👊🏼
Sounds like my ass after a bowl of chili
lovely looking car is it portimao blue?
I appreciate it, and no it’s actually Interlagos Blue 👍🏼

theres literally a giant engine cover over it
@@parsasarayI hope there was an engine cover over all of the wires, gaskets, and bolt holes. Water loves to intrude, especially if it’s mixed with soap and under pressure
actually you can “my dude” just gotta be careful with electronics. motor is in no danger

🙌🏼
Like 1.8l😂
What blue is it please? You said the name too fast
Interlagos Blue 👍🏼
Stock exhaust?
Yep! About a month before the mid pipe went on 👍🏼
I am huge fan but as always the bop destroys great cars
How much lower did you lower it . I did 1.4 eibach and over bumps it ride bad!! It’s got to be away to lower your car and keep stock ride or better… why that’s not available is crazy. I’m 59 and I like low cars but I want a stock ride, I wish someone would make something just 1.4 front and 1.5 back with stock ride quality . I heard pedders and KW drops your car from 1-3 inches and you can adjust you ride quality to as good or better than stock!
Yeah i totally get it! This ALS kit does retain the factory EDC functionality so to me (in comfort mode) the ride is comparable to stock or at least pretty close to it. But, at the end of the day this is a high performance car so I can’t expect too much comfort from it 😅
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Great video. Knocked it out of the park for Phase 1 of the G80. I particularly enjoyed the consistent quality of the work done on each mod and how clean it all looks together. Keep doing what you’re doing brother cannot wait to see 👀 whats in store for PHASE II
Thank you! Much appreciated 🙏 A lot more on the way! 😎
Dope man. I’m still basically bone stock. How do those springs feel? I know it will be stiffer but trying to retain as much comfort as possible for when my wife and daughter are with me. Otherwise I’m just going eibach fronts and my box and golf clubs will keep the back down lol. I think I’m going 15mm front and 12 mm back spacers.
Appreciate it 👊🏼 So yeah the AST ALS kit retains the factory EDC system so I can control the damper settings from the cabin still so if my wife and son are with my I switch to comfort and it’s pretty close to stock. But it can still be aggressive as well, so an overall great balance for a high performance street build (some track use). I’m running 12.5mm spacers front and rear for your reference during this video. That has been a perfect setup for me while on stock wheels 👍🏼
The crank hub issue with the s55 is nowhere near as frequent as the s65 bearings, try again
Sure. I was just offering general references for the audience to keep in mind when looking for their next M car. That’s all 👍🏼
Great stuff! I'm gonna get that steering wheel
Thanks! And yeah this new wheel is amazing. I honestly have no complaints so far over the last month or so. I have a discount code for you if you are interested in buying it 🤝 carismodesign.com/legacydriven Use code “LegacyDriven” to get a discount
Did NOT know they made those M performance seat back covers. I'm a die-hard comfort sport seats guy just for the seat ventilation option and freshening up the back is much a needed improvement. Add it to the list!
Absolutely! They’re a game changer to the M sport seats. I love mine. Here’s what I got them if you are interested: bit.ly/49yFihI 🤝
This channel is going to blow up. Great stuff man!
I appreciate that! 👊🏼👊🏼 what spec G80 did you order?
Dude your work is soliddd. Come work on my G80 when it arrives next month! I’m in PA
Thanks! 🙏 and absolutely lol let me know what you need help with 👊🏼
Love the e92 M3. Best M car ever. Looks spectacular on the 18” gunmetal wheels.
Thanks! Appreciate it 👊🏼
Nice! I did the valve stem seals on my E90 and it went from burning a quart of oil per 800 miles, to nothing!! What are the valve stem seals like on the M3?
Oh wow! Yeah I bet it did burn through oil that fast. I had a similar oil consumption issue on a previous car. Keeping the engine seals maintained is critical to longevity
How do you find the TBii paint is to maintain. I was considering this color vs doing an individual British racing green. I have a paint to sample 911 in dark olive metallic… so might be nice mixing it up with a blue.
Nice! I really like the olive metallic colors, or even gunmetal metallic style colors. Also, this is individual Interlagos Blue, not Tanzanite. It’s fairly easy to maintain, but it’s also fully coated in SB3 Ceramic so that certainly helps!
@@legacydrivenI didn’t realize it was interlagos. No wonder if looks so good. I had a LBB m2 prior to my 911 and love blue bmws. Maybe the move is a full individual blue like your own. The tanzanite seems too dark if you want to keep it reasonably clean looking and not show every mark
Yeah, the Interlagos is an incredible color and it really holds up well when clean and dirty. I love blue on cars as well! 🤝
Thank you so much
You’re welcome! 👊🏼
These cars will hold value. Service book stamps are everything to keep those prices up. Non service history will proper drop the value for resale. Would you buy an E9X M3 with little service history?
Definitely. This car with a stack of Mx records as mentioned, so I wasn’t too hesitant in this buy. I track everything I do so this build will certainly hold its value (although I have no intention of selling anytime soon)
@@legacydriven Addictive cars are they not lol. Track cars i get. Nice one mate.
@@DaveJMcGarryAbsolutely! I love this car. Such a fun chassis
Thank you for the video! I'm on the verge of going for the same setup. After doing my research, I'm concerned about potential rubbing issues with the front fenders. My G80 base is running on Pirelli P-Zero tires with stock height. Do you think the same setup is safe with 12.5mm + 15mm spacers? I'm considering between your setup and a 12mm + 15mm combo to ensure there's no rubbing in the front. What would you recommend? Also, how do you like the spacers after 10 months? Has there been any noticeable change in driving dynamics? Can you even tell the difference?
Hey thanks for the support! Glad the video helped you! So if you’re on stock height with P Zero tires you should NOT rub at all with 12.5mm in the front at anytime. I had this same setup as you saw from the video for months with no issue. Once I lowered the car then I installed the fender liner enhanced clearance kit to allow more room to prevent rubbing. Additionally, 15mm in the rear looked amazing on stock height after I made this video. And I kept that setup for many months. But, when I lowered the car I ended up putting 12.5mm on the rear as well since the gap in the rear was a little too tight for my preference. It would rub on high speed bumps etc. It looked really aggressive, but function is very important to me. But for your current setup, 12.5mm front and 15mm rear will look amazing on stock height 👊🏼👊🏼
To add, I still have these spacers on as of now. They’re amazing and I’ve had zero issues. These are really good quality spacers which is why I chose them. It does widen the stance of the car so handling is slightly improved on aggressive cornering etc. Just make sure you install them correctly as safety is paramount here. 🤝
awesome video, thank you for posting about your experience
Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you for this video very informative
Glad it was helpful! You’re welcome
I'm on my 2nd E9x m3, first.being a 2008 E92 6MT w/ CF roof that i bought with 44k miles....once the maintenance is up to date these cars run like a top. These cars are undervalued when compared to other M cars imo.
Oh nice! Yeah maintenance is definitely key to keeping these M cars at peak performance levels. That’s super important for anyone wanting to buy one. And I agree, they are undervalued!
A proper warm up routine is the key! Don’t exceed 3K RPM until the oil light says “Yes”, then RIP IT! I have a2011 E 93 Alpine and I’m Happy!
Proper warm up procedure is certainly critical to longevity! I agree 👍🏼
How long is the warm up process?
@@Sacrifice-Paid Depending on ambient temps it could 8-10 minutes or 15-20 minutes I’ve seen. I personally don’t drive until the engine temp gauge climbs out of the “cold” which is generally 1/4 way to optimal temp. Once passed that 1/4 mark I’ll drive easy (low throttle input and low rpm) until fully warmed to optimal temp then rev it out. (Just make sure your tires, brakes, etc are all warm as well depending on driving conditions) 👍🏼👍🏼
@@legacydriven mmm, interesting, sounds like if I was to invest in buying an E92 M3, it’d have to sit on my drive for at least 5-10 mins b4 going anywhere, which would be a tad irritating, I’ve currently got an E92, but a 2011 330 m sport, auto….., and I’m certainly not 1 of those that just turns the car on then drives, that annoys me when others do that, I say to them, would u get out of bed and run, no u wouldn’t, cos you’d injure yourself, so why do that to ur car 🤷🏻♂️
Haha great analogy! Yeah everything in life generally needs a brief warm up 😆👊🏼 Also, yeah having to let the car warm up for several minutes can sometimes be a bit of a frustration but I always remind people that this is a performance vehicle so it needs more attention and heat to perform optimally. 99% of the time it doesn’t bother me. I just start it up and let it idle for 5-8 minutes then head out if the temp gauge shows ready
I had a similar wheel in my 2016 mustang GT and I really miss it. It made the car feel special. I’ve been thinking of getting one for my M4. But I’ll go with leather because the idea of touching alcantara makes my nauseous!
Yeah these types of wheels really do add a special touch to the experience and feel of the car, and you can’t go wrong with leather! Always a great choice as well. If you do end up choosing the one I bought consider my link in the video description, it will offer you a discount at checkout if you use my code. Thanks!
Where did you buy your AST kit? Everywhere I have looked for them they have been like a dark color instead of red and I want the red lol. Also love the in depth overview of this product!
Haha I totally understand! I love the red springs as well. I bought them from PSI (precision sport industries) here in Central Florida. They’re actively involved with AST/Moton directly so a great source for suspension 👍🏼. Also, thanks for the support, and glad you like the review 👊🏼👊🏼
