- From left to right: Justin Moses, Jason Carter, Cody Kilby, Rob McCoury, Ronnie McCoury, Eric Gibson, Sierra Hull, Del McCoury, Ethan Jodziewicz, Leigh Gibson, Dre Anders, and Alan Bartram.
A few weeks ago, a bunch of friends got together to play music in Nashville, under the guise of prepping for Delfest. No one knew it would turn into something so special! Members of Del McCoury Band, The Travelin McCourys, Gibson Brothers, Sierra Hull and Dre and the Collective told stories and sang songs, turning it into a family jam. There was even talk of taking the show on the road this winter. Each artist brought a song that they thought would be fun to do, and Leigh Gibson showed up with "With A Little Help From My Friends." Just so happens two weeks ago was the 50-year anniversary of The Beatles Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club featuring this song. We hope you enjoy!
We also cut a cover of "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield during this Bluegrass jam session, check it out: • For What It's Worth - ...
I love how they all laugh together at the end. Ah Music... Nobody says "Let's work some music". It's play.
Facts
Del is so swelled up with pride watching this next generation he’s ready to bust.
Enormous performance the Beatles would have been proud of.
Who needs the Dopehead beetles
Better than the original, I love these people
The twin fiddles is the best part!
At the 6 minute mark, the mandolin player is like "we ain't done yet!"
Right. Bluegrass is like a pot coming to a boil. No stopping it.
A vintage song in a rendition for the ages. When it appears to conclude at about the six-minute mark, the concluding jam is launched and the fiddles join, you will find yourself smiling with warmth touching your very soul. Immediately, one will want to listen again.
Nice cover, makes one feel at ease.
Who can be sad with the banjo playing...
Can you imagine anything more fun?
Gibson brothers are are a great band and chortet
Sounding great love his vocals
Part of the Beatles legacy that no one could have predicted...a pitch- perfect Bluegrass rendition... different style than the original. Every bit as beautiful!
6:07 Ronnie decides they ain't done yet. That's often when the best music comes to light.
You know del is proud of all this he has given birth to
Love the singing voice of the older Gibson brother, has a haunting quality.
Aren't they wonderful!!!!
VERY NICE.. Jason and Siera's husband are special. But ALL are smooth and clear.
Justin
Just a damn good buntch of talent in that room
Stunning. And to watch Mr McCoury's face is to glimpse humanity.
I'm sure that Joe Cocker will be smiling down and nodding his head in approval of this fine version ... Great job ladies and gentlemen.
I just love you Gibson brothers music you all are at the top in bluegrass music 🎶 🎵 you guys are wonderful I play alittle been playing since 1966
You know a song is good when it works in a bunch of differnt genres
it's tough doing a cover of a Beatles or Joe Cockers song but a great job guys. Lets have some more bluegrass Beatles covers.
ONE BADASS GROUP >> LOVE IT
Really enjoyed the jam...around the 7 minute mark!!!
Making the Beatles proud, and Joe Cocker, too.
I like how it appeared the tune was over the dude on the mandolin says lets keep it going by jumping on in ... gotta let the jam live on when you're having fun
The thrill of a jam session is like a drug, you want it to go on forever.
Or be in on one session with them Hans Paula
True!
Now that is a fantastic rendition of a great song. Thank you So much, Everybody !
that was most amazing!
The thing I love about Bluegrass is it lends itself to improvisation so easily. With a bunch of BG Musicians your only a couple of jugs a Sweet Tea away from an epic jam.
Damn straight
And BG musicians are very adaptable because most other music is at a comparatively slow pace.

I agree: "Damn, man. I've got chills. Neither Joe Cocker nor The Beatles could do it better themselves."
What an amazing collaboration. So epic 🔥
That's badass! I'm trying to get our country audience into Bluegrass, work in progress, Already playing For What it's Worth In A rotation! (Philly/Allentown/NJ/Cinti/Chgo/SF, Bay Ft Myers)
Awesome, I'm sure the Beatles would approve.
When you start with a wonderful piece of music and add to it's quality, that is a double dose of enjoyment...
Memories, Goosebumps and a Tear- My First Concert "Joe Cocker" and "Ten Years After"-!!! Thank GOD for This Much TALENT in One Place-!!!
I saw joe cocker with leon russell at market hall in Dallas,tx new years Eve 1973...wow ...that was outstanding
@@bobbygrissom9772 Great memories!!!
That jam at the end - I'd like that playing as I make my way to Heaven. I'd meet God smiling.
I hope so. And I hope we meet on the other side. Best wishes to you.
@@philmullins136 The same to you!
All I can say is thank you
very best version of that song ever
So beautiful it made me cry.
You guys collectively crawl into the soul and give a warm massage.
If Paul McCartney ever heard this rendition of his and John Lennon song he must be very appreciative of the work these talented musicians did to it. The Beatles were fans of Country Music and Rockabilly ,and very much influenced by it. The Beatles also relied heavily on acoustic instruments on their recordings. These talented folk do absolute justice to there music!
Y'all really seemed to enjoy playing that. I really enjoyed it, too. Thanks for posting!
Just seeing everyone smiling and having fun is fantabulous. That's what playing together is all about. The fact that you sound absolutely fantastic just adds to it. BTW - this was my #1 UA-cam video for 2022
Dude that is the essence of this track! Well said my friend!
WOW, even more majestic than Beatles themselves... What a caalm concentration on wonderful music, what spontaneity, what a harmony, what amazing friends !...
Agreed 👍
I would thourely love to be there watching that rendition of The Beatles. I love blue grass 😍
how can anybody that likes music not LOVE this - absolutely brilliant!!!!!
AWESONG !! Great Timing
Realy beautiful !! Thanks a lot 🙏🏽
It just don't get much better than that.
Fantastic...best one I’ve heard since Joe Cocker’s
I love how the whole tune turned around at the false ending. So cool.
This why i love bluegrass.
This wonderful.
That was a great jam ending this cover.
Dre and Alan NAIL the backing harmonies!!!
Reminds of the old days, grandpa on the guitar, dad on the fiddle, my aunt on the piano, my cousins on the banjo, mandolin, and of course me as a kid on the spoons lol. I miss those days, everyone gone now. TREASURE those kind of memories!
Unbelievable group of musicians. Great song in a blue grass groove. Cant get enough of them.
i got to do a couple of shows with the gibson brothers and they are as real as it gets,, just 2 old country boys that are super talented and love this music
I love how Ronnie "says" wait, I'm not done!
What a talented group but Sierra Hull and Justin Moses are at the top of my list. That guy Moses can play just about any instrument and he plays them all great. On the Dobro this guy is smokin!
IBMA dobro player 2020.
When everybody is a virtuoso…
Mister Del just seems like he hasn’t aged in all the years I’ve been listening to him since I was a munchkin (about 23 years and I’m 35!)
It’s so nice seeing him stand there looking so pleased.
This cover is really magical. It almost feels like some Seldom Scene action towards the end like John Duffey and Ben Eldridge are playing in there ❤️❤️❤️
what a wonderful surprise for breakfast...made my day...Joe Cocker is smiling down...goin yea i dig it....
For John Lenon and Paul
I thought the same thing, I sang along in "Joe" mode.
That is some good picking!
Love the Gibson Brothers ❤☮
Totally awesome.
Oh My lol,, I have so much respect for that song. You guys made it yours too. Great job. Man, you can sing.
As sweet a version as I've ever heard. Thank you.
Outstanding from outstandingly wonderful musicians!!!!
My house growing up.Thanks MOM. DAD.🎼🎶🎶👍😊
I love it when these folks get together to make wonderful music. If young women got any
more lovely than Sierra Hull, I think I'd faint dead away.
Excellent video-ing. Lovely song, well done .
There hasn't been as amazing of a sit down as this was... Absolutely beautiful
Thank God for
Really good
MUSIC
Leigh has such a powerful voice.
Truly excellent jam. 😀
Lovely, lovely, lovely...
Why does this classic cover have only 45,000 views? OMG. Best cover EVER!!!!!!!
Linda
Mike Fayette 324thousand views.
It probably only appeals to people who really appreciate music! Not everyone will like an old favourite song transposed into Waltz time.
LOVE IT
Man, there is a lot going on here. If you just close your eyes they all work perfectly together. But when you focus on one instrument, you can pick it out easily. The banjo was really easy to pick out. So good!
from joe cocker to all the beatles, alive and dead are groven on this one .what a group of talented muisicens, and the dell mccoury band to boot
This would be a cover of Joe Cocker’s cover. The Beatles original is still by far my favorite. Still, a nice blue grass rendition here.
Simply great. Best I have heard.
Beautiful......just Beautiful.
Best version I've ever heard - I didn't really used to like this song all that much, but .... this knocks me out. Better voice than Ringo AND Joe Cocker.
Yes Sir . . . I think y all just knocked Bohemian Rhapsody Off the Charts !
It just doesn't get any better than this ....😊
There are no words. Well, maybe one...OUTSTANDING!
The word that kept me going was...WOW!
O wow. Beautiful, I am teary eyed
Such a spirited, faithful rendition, that holds true with the original... Great group of talented musicians and singers who respect the material and each other. Smiles and a tip of my hat for being a bright light in these troubled times such as these!!!
Tsunami of talent -- with strings attached!!!
FANTASTIC!!!!
Loved hearing this as wood music. Thank you so much.
