Exactly, never understood how some viewers simply say that this season is about "MC curing ED". From Rudeus pov, sure, it is. But anyone with a brain can understand that this was a shift from purely lust relationships to actual love.
He would've resumed his relationship context with Sylphy if he'd known right away. It could've gone wrong quickly, with either him trying to resume his grooming plan out of desperation to cure his condition or he would've recoiled because he'd be remembering what he'd planned to do. In the novel he thinks to himself that if he'd known six months earlier that Fittz was a girl, he would've pursued a physical relationship as fast as possible, with the implication of even resorting to blackmail if needed. Since he'd developed genuine feelings for her, he couldn't do that. When he finds out the whole truth, he remembers how he'd planned to raise Sylphy to be his perfect wife, and what he finds in her now has exceeded all his expectations.
When they do get to talking about that, she raises the issue that as having elven blood in her, it'll be difficult for her to have children. And she *apologizes* for this. Well, if the dice get bad rolls, just roll more.
Rudeus realized Fitz was Sylphie when he saw the scar on her hand (she got it as a child) when he took off her gloves, we sadly didn't get to see that in the anime.
It's part of her design, it's just subtle. They didn't have her aversion to fire magic in the first season, so there was no real need to bring that up here.

I hope one day they'll gonna check out Ascendance of a Bookworm, they'd love it. I still remember Jacob mentioning it a few years ago when they still were streaming together, so maybe he will pick it for his individual slot in the future

In the Light Novel you actually get Rudy's thoughts during the whole scene. In fact that's kind of the light novel in general of course. If anyone is an anime only watcher. I typed out word for word how the last scene in this episode plays out. No spoilers of any kind I only typed it out to the exact moment this episode ends. It does not contain anything from next episode. But I think it's worth checking out. I wrote this for another channel so I'm just copying and pasting it. No one has to read this but I find it's very interesting to see how much Rudy thinks in his own mind. He goes into so much. Rudy in the anime is silent in comparison to Rudy in the Light Novel. And I think that maybe some anime only watchers might enjoy seeing the differences and learning more about how Rudy is. You don't realize this but while the anime is great you don't know much about Rudy really? Not in the same way? It's hard to explain but this may give you a taste of what I mean. -Start (Rudy is expecting Fitz to change clothes as he is looking in the other direction.) For some reason, I wasn't hearing anything. His clothes were wet, yeah, but even so... taking them off and drying them out with a spell should have produced at least some faint hint of sound. This was really odd. Did he have some way of changing his clothes without making any noise at all? Come to think of it, there had been a girl at my elementary school who could change into her swimsuit without taking her clothes off first. That was a pretty cool trick. That school wasn't equipped with actual changing rooms, so the boys and girls were forced to change clothes together in the classrooms. Those were good times, in retrospect. Later, once the internet got popular, I stumble across an explanation of that stealthy clothes-changing method. I'd developed a certain interest in tricks of that sort. My interest in this matter was purely academic, of course. It definitely wasn't a sexual thing. Probably. If Fitz hadn't taken off his clothes, he'd probably be freezing right about now. Like, I'd take off her clothes, and then some scary guy would pop into the cave, tell me that I'd learned too much, and carry me off to an Asuran laboratory to be dissected? Not that I'd have any room to complain, given that I was about to "experiment" on Fitz myself... My hands, which had acquired a mind of their own at some point, slipped Fitz's thick front-button cloak off. This revealed the drenched white shirt beneath. Not to repeat myself, but this was a white shirt. As you may know, shirts of that color are prone to becoming transparent when wet. This meant that I could see Fitz's underwear-- specifically, something that looked like a sports bra. The contents appeared...modest. But with the wet bra clinging tightly to her skin, there was no denying they were there. Fitz had natural padding of the kind that tends to captivate the masculine mind. Continue in next reply. "Master Fitz..." "What's the matter, Rudy?" When I heard that familiar nickname, I felt an old memory rising slowly toward the surface of my mind. I'd experienced something similar to this before. Ignoring my desires as best I could, I reached down to Fitz's belt. After a few clumsy, clattering seconds, I managed to undo it. I reached out to grab her pants by the waist... and then an image from the past flashed into my mind. I'd done something like this before, years ago. I was five or maybe six years old, but I hadn't forgotten. When I pulled down Fitz pants, I exposed a pair of white panties. Unlike the first time around, I hadn't pulled her underwear down as well. That said... the panties were so drenched with rainwater that they were bordering on see-through. Fitz silently pulled her legs up out of her pants, then sat down in front of me with her legs splayed out to either side. I sat down on my knees right in front of her. The floor of the cave was rugged and rough, so my shins started hurting immediately. I reached out to her once again. She still had those drenched white gloves on her hands. "Let me... get those too..." As I stripped the gloves off, I found that one of her hands was marked by an old scar. I recognized this hand. How had that happened, again? Right, right. Fitz wasn't looking me in the eyes anymore. Her gaze was turned slightly downward, at a different part of my body. The tent I'd pitched a few minutes ealier was still going strong. After only a few seconds, she was overcome with emotion, and her smile crumbled and disappeared. Before she broke down completely, she managed to lean forward and throw her arms around me. "I finally... said it..." Her body was very, very cold. We stayed like that for a few long minutes. I was still shocked, to say the least. But at the same time, I was starting to feel like everything finally made sense. Sylphie was sobbing and sniffling quietly while squeezing me tightly in her arms. It was pretty similar to how this had played out last time, actually. It looked like she was still a crybaby. Her body was still soft, too. She was slender you'd think there wasn't an ounce of fat on her, but when you hugged her, it felt like you had your arms around a cloud. Did she use fabric softener on herself in the bath, or what? "I waited... I waited for you all that time, Rudy. I stayed in Blena Village, and I worked really hard..." I knew that much was true. Paul had already told me all about how Sylphie had spent her time once I went off to tutor Eris. Saying nothing for the moment, I just stroked her head. She reacted by squeezing me even more tightly. After a moment, she raised her face to look at me. Her tears and runny nose had left it something of a mess. I wasn't sure what to say to her. "I've always..." Sylphie knew what she wanted to say, though. She looked me right in the eyes and said her piece. "I've always loved you." All I could do was state down her in stupid blank surprise. "I loved you so much back then, Rudy. And now I love you even more. Don't leave me again... please? I want to stay with you forever..." -The end That's basically where this episode ends. I am sick of typing too. lol Why did I want to share this? I don't know. I re-read it just now and thought that it's interesting to see how Rudy differs from the anime. Don't get me wrong. He is the same? But Rudy constantly drops lore of the MT world in his thoughts. He constantly makes jokes, brings up memories of his past life. And demonstrates other goals, interests and things he has experienced. Both in his past life and current life. Rudy feels more like a person in the LN. Not that the anime is bad. The anime is amazing still.

In fact in an anime you can't be in the protagonists head all the time. It would be annoying having him speak 24/7 etc. I just wanted to give anime only a taste of the LN. And to kind of show case what the adaption has to change etc. So your right this is how it has to be. And it's not the animes fault. So my purpose of sharing this was not to hate on the anime at all. In fact in some ways it shows how good of an adaptation it is that the series is still loved. Even without the same context set. How well they are still able to convey thoughts and feelings without being able to have Rudy thinking to himself non-stop etc. Which would be bad in an anime in my opinion. 14:00 "Complicated Plan..." I've caught flak (like alluding to me being sexist) over this when I've commented on other reactions to this episode but I'm going to say it anyway. This was the type of plan that you would expect a woman to come up with. A guy's plan would have 4 or 5 steps. This plan was "Step 9b. Lead him to the cave." Women tend to be far more detailed and intricate in their plans while a guy's plan tends to be more bullet points connected with improvisation. There are of course GLARING exceptions to this. One only needs to look at military logistics to see detailed planning at its finest. Improvisation does NOT give you the Berlin Airlift, for example.
The princess scolding Sylphy over her apparent lack of progress was actually the first time in the book that it was revealed Fittz was Sylphy. Of course, observant readers would've guessed it earlier. And the anime didn't even bother to maintain the secret, as it would be much more difficult to mask her voice or animate her in a more masculine way. Even the manga didn't bother for long and they tried an amnesia angle.
The entire discussion in the first couple minutes about do you still have the desire or feel pent up? Or is your mind like free almost like post jerking it no sex on the mind at all. But I guess you would mentally feel not like a man. Like when something with your body is off it feels bad even if it's not that big of a deal etc. We can argue that not being able to get it up could be one of the top fears of any man. I don't know the answers but I have though about the same questions. I think it matters based on the person and reasons you can't get it up. I feel like for many people the urge would still be there. It may not be as profound but you would feel very mentally unwell and unsatisfied in my opinion. There is actually someone who has their own UA-cam channel that went 2 years without being able to get it up. They don't watch MT or anything. It's not an anime channel. But I should super chat them and ask them at some point. Yes they have brought it up a few times over the last few years on their channel. I know what lead to their issue. It was also a bad relationship experience. Different from what happened to Rudy but I feel like the underline issue is related.They were only in their 20's or 30's when it happened too. But again each person's experience could be different anyways. And since this is fantasy it's really up to the author with how Rudy feels about it. We kind of can tell how it's affecting and how much it matters to Rudy.
When it comes down to it I think the big thing is the underlying cause of it. Like there was one point in my life where I was really sick for a few months possible cancer/"You are about to be nailed in a coffin." levels of sick and caused ED but because I was so sick I didn't really feel anything at all so it didn't bother me. While I would imagine someone who has psychological problems and not physical would be in a lot worse situation because the system would be there just nothing was tripping it. So that feels like you would feel it but not be able to get rid of it.
There's a Mushoku Tensei side story book, and one chapter took place in the elven homeland in the Great Forest when Roxy was looking for Rudeus. Talhand and Elinalise had Roxy bring a unicorn in. When it calmed down at her touch, she killed it with Icicle Break. Unicorns are monsters in the setting.
Jiminy Christmas finally, theres nothing I hate more than these secret identity storylines. God I can't believe how much of this season got bogged down by it. Thank goodness its finally over.
They do usually suck, tho i think unlike most hidden identity plotlines in other shows, this one isnt just for a gag. In most other hidden identity plotlines, the characters not knowing who the other person is either has no effect on the story, or it has a negative effect on the characters. Which is what i find to usually make them suck. Cuz usually what happens is that one person hides their identity for practically no reason, and then when the other person find out, they either feel the exact same way as before and the hidden identity was pointless, or they get uspet at them for hiding their identity and it makes things worse. But what made this one different for me at least, is that Rudy needed to not know who Sylphie was in the beginning. In order to cure his ED, he needed to fall in love with someone over time and let the relationship naturally grow. If he had known that Sylphie was herself prior to making that relationship with her as Fitz, he probably wouldve just dived into a relationship with her in hopes that it would cure him due to their childhood friendship, which wouldnt have worked because it would be too fast. It is only because she hid her identity from him that he was able to grow an actual relationship with her, and then when she reveals herself as Sylphie, it just adds more depth to the relationship they already grew up to that point. So this hidden identity plot actually allowed both of them to grow as characters and deepen their relationship, which is what other hidden identity plots lack and make them bad. I still have a general distaste towards those plotlines, similar to you, because most of them are shit, but i think the fact that this one actually has a positive effect on the character growth makes it the best possible way of including that type of plotline into the story

We didn't get to see him realizing it that way but we do see her scar when she pulls her glove off when she uses the ring.

As I turned toward the entrance, Master Fitz called out to me. He stared at me for a moment, still trembling. And then, standing up on quivering legs, he slowly alked over and looked at my face.

"..."
He was just...looking at me. Like there was something he wanted to say. But what was it? What was he trying to tell me? "You-re, uh... your're going to catch cold, Master Fitz..."
"Y-Yeah," he replied, his voice shaking. "Y-You're right."
I was beyond flustered at this point. I couldn't begin to understand what he was thinking. "You've... got to get those clothes off. It's dangerous. Getting too cold can kill you..."
"Yeah... I guess I'm going to die, at this rate..." Fitz nodded, but showed no sign of taking off his clothes. Uh, not that I was hoping he'd strip naked while I watched, of course.
I knew nothing! Master Fitz is a boy! Definitely not not female! That's my official stance on the matter, damn it! I really needed to close my eyes now, right?
"I can't take these off myself. You do it for me."
What the hell was he talking about?
"...Well, if you can't take them off, I guess I'll have to do it."
What the hell was I talking about?
Crap. My hands were already moving forward. I touched his shoulders first. They were cold...and slender, and soft. His body felt very delicate in my hands.
Okay, she certainly felt like a girl. And of course, I was a man.
Generally speaking, it wasn't okay for a man and a women to get naked in front of each other until they'd reached a certain level of intimacy. That was as true of this world exactly as it had been in my old one.
"U-Uhm, Master Fitz... to be honest, I'm aware of the fact that your're a woman."
"Okay. But if you don't take my clothes off, I might die, right?
"R-Right..."
This did not compute. I couldn't figure out her thought process here. She was obviously plotting something, though. Could this be some sort of blackmail scam? Like, I'd take off her clothes, and then some scary guy would pop into the cave, tell me that I'd learned too much, and carry me off to an Asuran laboratory to be dissected? Not that I'd have any room to complain, given that I was about to "experiment" on Fitz myself...
My hands, which had acquired a mind of their own at some point, slipped Fitz's thick front-button cloak off. This revealed the drenched white shirt beneath.
Not to repeat myself, but this was a white shirt. As you may know, shirts of that color are prone to becoming transparent when wet. This meant that I could see Fitz's underwear-- specifically, something that looked like a sports bra. The contents appeared...modest. But with the wet bra clinging tightly to her skin, there was no denying they were there. Fitz had natural padding of the kind that tends to captivate the masculine mind.

"What's the matter, Rudy?"
When I heard that familiar nickname, I felt an old memory rising slowly toward the surface of my mind. I'd experienced something similar to this before. Something very similar to this. "Uh... pardon me, then..."
"Go ahead."
Fitz's face was bright red all the way to the tips of her ears. Somehow, even that felt weirdly familiar. I peeled off her white shirt, exposing the pale skin underneath. For a moment, I just stared at her delicate shoulders and her slender neck. She was thinner than I'd expected.
Seeing her up close...and touching her directly...was having an effect on me. Some invisible knight was lifting my "sword" steadily upward as part of some holy ceremony.
What was it about Fitz? I couldn't put my finger on it, but something about her got me so... excited. I had to fight down a sudden urge to push her to the ground right then and there. Ignoring my desires as best I could, I reached down to Fitz's belt. After a few clumsy, clattering seconds, I managed to undo it. I reached out to grab her pants by the waist... and then an image from the past flashed into my mind.
I'd done something like this before, years ago. I was five or maybe six years old, but I hadn't forgotten.
When I pulled down Fitz pants, I exposed a pair of white panties. Unlike the first time around, I hadn't pulled her underwear down as well. That said... the panties were so drenched with rainwater that they were bordering on see-through.
Fitz silently pulled her legs up out of her pants, then sat down in front of me with her legs splayed out to either side. I sat down on my knees right in front of her. The floor of the cave was rugged and rough, so my shins started hurting immediately.
I reached out to her once again. She still had those drenched white gloves on her hands. "Let me... get those too..."
As I stripped the gloves off, I found that one of her hands was marked by an old scar. I recognized this hand.
How had that happened, again? Right, right. She'd stuck her hand into a stove once and burned herself. I remembered wondering if that accident had anything to do with her struggle to learn fire magic.
"Rudy..."
Fitz wasn't looking me in the eyes anymore. Her gaze was turned slightly downward, at a different part of my body. The tent I'd pitched a few minutes ealier was still going strong. Fitz really was a miracle worker.
"There's still one thing left."
I knew she wasn't talking about her bra or panties. By now, I'd finally caught on. I reached up for her sunglasses and took them off.
Beneath, I found a familiar face-- One I'd expected to see.
Back in the day, I'd thought 'he' would grow up to be a real lady-killer. My plan had been to latch onto him like a remora and snatch up some of the girls he passed over.
That was how pretty she'd been, even when she was a kid. And now...she had grown even more beautiful than I'd imagined.
Her features still had a hint of childishness about them, maybe. But beautiful was the only description that applied. Her eyes were sharp and clear. Her nose was a little long, and her lips were slightly thin. I thought I saw a resemblance to her fellow elf, Elinalise...but somehow, her face was more approachable and endearing. Maybe she'd inherited that from her human ancestors.
"Uh, Master Fitz..."
"Yes, Rudy?"
The way she tilted her head to listen, even as she blushed, hadn't changed at all. Why the hell had it taken me so long to figure this out? Her hair? Yeah. Her hair color was different. She'd had green hair before, but now it was pure white. But of course, peoples' hair changed color all the time. You could just bleach it if you wanted to, for one thing.
"Is your real name... Sylphiette, by chance?"
"...Yes."
Fitz--or rather, Sylphie--smiled shyly and nodded.
"Yes... it is. I'm Sylphyiette. Sylphiette... from Buena Village..."
After only a few seconds, she was overcome with emotion, and her smile crumbled and disappeared. Before she broke down completely, she managed to lean forward and throw her arms around me.
"I finally... said it..."
Her body was very, very cold.
We stayed like that for a few long minutes.
I was still shocked, to say the least. But at the same time, I was starting to feel like everything finally made sense.
Sylphie was sobbing and sniffling quietly while squeezing me tightly in her arms. It was pretty similar to how this had played out last time, actually. It looked like she was still a crybaby.
Her body was still soft, too. She was slender you'd think there wasn't an ounce of fat on her, but when you hugged her, it felt like you had your arms around a cloud. Did she use fabric softener on herself in the bath, or what?
"I waited... I waited for you all that time, Rudy. I stayed in Blena Village, and I worked really hard..."
I knew that much was true. Paul had already told me all about how Sylphie had spent her time once I went off to tutor Eris. Saying nothing for the moment, I just stroked her head. She reacted by squeezing me even more tightly.
After a moment, she raised her face to look at me. Her tears and runny nose had left it something of a mess. I wasn't sure what to say to her.
"I've always..."
Sylphie knew what she wanted to say, though. She looked me right in the eyes and said her piece.
"I've always loved you."
All I could do was state down her in stupid blank surprise.
"I loved you so much back then, Rudy. And now I love you even more. Don't leave me again... please? I want to stay with you forever..."

That's basically where this episode ends. I am sick of typing too. lol Why did I want to share this? I don't know. I re-read it just now and thought that it's interesting to see how Rudy differs from the anime. Don't get me wrong. He is the same? But Rudy constantly drops lore of the MT world in his thoughts. He constantly makes jokes, brings up memories of his past life. And demonstrates other goals, interests and things he has experienced. Both in his past life and current life. Rudy feels more like a person in the LN. Not that the anime is bad. The anime is amazing still.
It's unfortunate that adaptations of LNs always seem to fall short of the source material. That's just how it has to be though.
@@shade0636 You are generally correct but one thing I want to make clear. This was mostly posted here not to say hey listen the anime is bad. Here is how different Rudy really is at times etc?
In fact in an anime you can't be in the protagonists head all the time. It would be annoying having him speak 24/7 etc. I just wanted to give anime only a taste of the LN. And to kind of show case what the adaption has to change etc. So your right this is how it has to be. And it's not the animes fault.
So my purpose of sharing this was not to hate on the anime at all. In fact in some ways it shows how good of an adaptation it is that the series is still loved. Even without the same context set. How well they are still able to convey thoughts and feelings without being able to have Rudy thinking to himself non-stop etc. Which would be bad in an anime in my opinion.
I don't think your comment shade0636 is exactly hating on the anime either or anything. But I wanted to make it clear my comment is suppose to be a fun neat thing. Not a dig at the anime adaption.

14:00 "Complicated Plan..." I've caught flak (like alluding to me being sexist) over this when I've commented on other reactions to this episode but I'm going to say it anyway. This was the type of plan that you would expect a woman to come up with. A guy's plan would have 4 or 5 steps. This plan was "Step 9b. Lead him to the cave." Women tend to be far more detailed and intricate in their plans while a guy's plan tends to be more bullet points connected with improvisation.
There are of course GLARING exceptions to this. One only needs to look at military logistics to see detailed planning at its finest. Improvisation does NOT give you the Berlin Airlift, for example.
I couldn't wait for part for season 2 so now I'm on volume 20 lol, still looking forward to part 2 of season 2!
The princess scolding Sylphy over her apparent lack of progress was actually the first time in the book that it was revealed Fittz was Sylphy. Of course, observant readers would've guessed it earlier. And the anime didn't even bother to maintain the secret, as it would be much more difficult to mask her voice or animate her in a more masculine way. Even the manga didn't bother for long and they tried an amnesia angle.
This might have been one of the best opening segments Caleb has done for any show lamo I'm dying here

The entire discussion in the first couple minutes about do you still have the desire or feel pent up? Or is your mind like free almost like post jerking it no sex on the mind at all. But I guess you would mentally feel not like a man. Like when something with your body is off it feels bad even if it's not that big of a deal etc. We can argue that not being able to get it up could be one of the top fears of any man. I don't know the answers but I have though about the same questions. I think it matters based on the person and reasons you can't get it up. I feel like for many people the urge would still be there. It may not be as profound but you would feel very mentally unwell and unsatisfied in my opinion. There is actually someone who has their own UA-cam channel that went 2 years without being able to get it up. They don't watch MT or anything. It's not an anime channel. But I should super chat them and ask them at some point. Yes they have brought it up a few times over the last few years on their channel. I know what lead to their issue. It was also a bad relationship experience. Different from what happened to Rudy but I feel like the underline issue is related.They were only in their 20's or 30's when it happened too. But again each person's experience could be different anyways. And since this is fantasy it's really up to the author with how Rudy feels about it. We kind of can tell how it's affecting and how much it matters to Rudy.
When it comes down to it I think the big thing is the underlying cause of it. Like there was one point in my life where I was really sick for a few months possible cancer/"You are about to be nailed in a coffin." levels of sick and caused ED but because I was so sick I didn't really feel anything at all so it didn't bother me. While I would imagine someone who has psychological problems and not physical would be in a lot worse situation because the system would be there just nothing was tripping it. So that feels like you would feel it but not be able to get rid of it.

There's a Mushoku Tensei side story book, and one chapter took place in the elven homeland in the Great Forest when Roxy was looking for Rudeus. Talhand and Elinalise had Roxy bring a unicorn in. When it calmed down at her touch, she killed it with Icicle Break. Unicorns are monsters in the setting.
Jiminy Christmas finally, theres nothing I hate more than these secret identity storylines. God I can't believe how much of this season got bogged down by it. Thank goodness its finally over.
They do usually suck, tho i think unlike most hidden identity plotlines in other shows, this one isnt just for a gag. In most other hidden identity plotlines, the characters not knowing who the other person is either has no effect on the story, or it has a negative effect on the characters. Which is what i find to usually make them suck. Cuz usually what happens is that one person hides their identity for practically no reason, and then when the other person find out, they either feel the exact same way as before and the hidden identity was pointless, or they get uspet at them for hiding their identity and it makes things worse.
But what made this one different for me at least, is that Rudy needed to not know who Sylphie was in the beginning. In order to cure his ED, he needed to fall in love with someone over time and let the relationship naturally grow. If he had known that Sylphie was herself prior to making that relationship with her as Fitz, he probably wouldve just dived into a relationship with her in hopes that it would cure him due to their childhood friendship, which wouldnt have worked because it would be too fast. It is only because she hid her identity from him that he was able to grow an actual relationship with her, and then when she reveals herself as Sylphie, it just adds more depth to the relationship they already grew up to that point. So this hidden identity plot actually allowed both of them to grow as characters and deepen their relationship, which is what other hidden identity plots lack and make them bad.
I still have a general distaste towards those plotlines, similar to you, because most of them are shit, but i think the fact that this one actually has a positive effect on the character growth makes it the best possible way of including that type of plotline into the story
