As a fellow WN/LN reader who completed the story, I'd like to share some trivia with you about this episode without spoiling anything further.
-If you're wondering where are they now, they are in the Red Dragon Mountains which is just before Asura Kingdom. And yes as the name says, it is filled with Red Dragons. a single red dragon is on par to a S rank Adventurer. but Red Dragons tend to move in Flocks. However they cannot fly above level ground, thats their only weakness. So people at the ground level near the area are at least safer than those climbing the mountains.
      - If you're wondering why Rudy is stupid enough to talk towards Orsted even when told not to, he wasnt inflicted by the curse of Orsted. Even Rudy was quick to tell that Orsted is somehow "all-knowing" so it intrigued his curiosity and think he could trust his answer so he asked him about the mana disaster and even about Hitogami (Man-God)
      - You can clearly see that when Ruijerd and Eris was engaging with Orsted, their Visibly Scared Faces still remain. The curse of fear from Orsted doesnt wear off even when you try to fight against it.
      - Notice how Eris actually tried to use magic. Remember that Rudy taught her about magic. She was able to do a simple fireball spell to light a campfire before once but it seems the anime missed that and put that in here instead. Good call.
      - From the mention of Orsted knowing Ruijerd and Eris' names without ever meeting them yet and knowing that Paul should only have two daughters...That's more than enough of a hint of what Orsted's power is capable of.
      - It wasn't clear but Rudy was surprised to see a person (nanahoshi) with BLACK hair. He has never seen anyone in this world with black hair before. this can be fun for speculations
      - A nice thing to point, Orsted's first attack on Rudy was to Damage his lungs severely. Its more than enough to Kill Rudy too since he will just suffocate. Since Orsted knows Rudy is a magic user, he thought damaging the lungs would not make him cast spells since you have to actually say the magic spell to be able to use them normally but what he didnt realize is Rudy uses incantationless magic. And since Rudy has almost a limitless amount of mana in him, he can still cast magic. that's why he can put up some fighting chance even while injured like this
-Orsted Techincally kind of saved everyone there when Rudy made that Fireball magic. During that time, Rudy was panicking and was trying to come up with the best offensive magic he can throw at Orsted. Before Rudy was scared with fire magic because he has too much mana and if he cant control it, it can cause some unnecessary destruction. When he was making this fireball, he put all his mana into it, imagining it to be a NUCLEAR bomb. So Orsted throwing that ball into another dimension was a good move. If orsted just tried to block it, it would cause a huge explosion and would definitely kill off both Ruijerd and Eris.
      - This episode now introduced a new magic called "Disturb Magic". Seeing as Rudy is cunning you can imagine what he do with it. The other powers that Orsted uses are his own though.
      - If you havent seen it, Orsted was visibly impressed to Rudeus' ability to do two separate incantation-less magic on each hand. He was also impressed when the Stone Cannon Rudy did to Orsted actually grazed him. Yes that was a graze.
      - Notice how orsted only used his bare hands against Ruijerd and Eris but with Rudy, he had to use some magic against him. This point will be important later when you know Orsted's fighting style
-Orsted mentions later that Rudy has no "Magic Armour" considering he has a large amount of mana on par with laplace and is disappointed that he can simply impale him. It wasnt mentioned in the anime though. Yes there is a thing called "magic armour" that anyone with mana can use to make them at least tank some hits.
-Yes, Orsted's curse affects also Animals. Its why their horse just up and ran away.
      - Orsted being able to Heal a fatally injured and near to death Rudy shows that there is really advanced Healing magic out there that can even do that. All Rudy knows is just hear wounds, bruises and broken bones. But heal up an entire major organ is a really complex one but it is possible.
-T BH I would've wanted this episode to end up to when Rudy Dies. It would keep alot of fans speculating but there is NO extra scene after Rudy dying. Once the scene with him talking to Hitogami (ManGod) starts, thats the moment he woke up and was alive next.
The rest will of course be explained in the future episodes. You guys think you would expect Rudy to run up to the Seven Great World Powers in order? Nahhh he meets the 2nd Great World Power immediately and got whooped! The animation in this is stunning as always! Dragon God wont take any bullshit!

I love how Orsted wiped their party and essentially killed Rudy, but the bros are like, we should consider that maybe he's a good guy. Why? Because the being that calls himself god said he's bad. Seriously, mortals these days. You hide your form so they don't go mad upon seeing you and they suddenly will never trust you because they can't see your face.

    Fun fact about the animation:
One of the reasons that Ruijerd vs Orsted showdown was so gorgeous, was because they rendered Orsted’s movements at the anime standard of 23-24 FPS, while halving that of Ruijerd’s movement animations at 12-13 FPS. They wanted to create a clear visual depiction of how far above Ruijerd that Orsted truly is, without it drawing too much attention away from the scene at large. And I think they did an incredible job with their choice. Considering Ruijerd has been basically far and above the strongest warrior we’ve seen in the series so far(aside from MAYBE Ghislaine), seeing him fail to even put up a decent struggle against this Orsted dude that sees him moving like a snail, is humbling to say the least lol. And opens the door for so much more insanity down the line

Just a thing to note with Ghyslaine... as far as that goes, Ruijerd outclasses even her, so it's quite the testament to Orsted's strength. Ruijerd is equated to a North Emperor in strength, Ghyslaine is a Sword King.

The anime unfortunately left out this part of Orsted's dialogue:
“I see what’s going on, Ruijerd Superdia. You love children, so these two must be ones who were teleported to the Demon Continent during the incident. You brought them all the way here.”
This is why Rudeus wanted to ask Orsted about what he knows about the incident.
In the anime it seemed like the question came out of nowhere.

Who cares? Literally only people that read the manga. The anime did fine. Chill out and let them experience the show how they chose to.

    Light novel info: (no spoilers)
The intro scene was genius, it's as if we are affected by the curse since we know what could happen.
About why Rudeus talked to Orsted, since a few people hate him for doing it despite the signals Eris/Ruijierd were giving, Rudeus was completely safe until he mentioned the Man-god, he would have just been a weirdo for not being affected by the fear curse. The Dragon God actually seemed kinda polite, saying stuff to Ruijierd like "You seem well. That's good" (In the LN). You guys were on point 21:31 with how Rudeus felt when Orsted mentioned the Man-God, he just thought, "oh finally, something we're on the same page about!" Also Rudeus' social skills are quite literally that of an 11/12 year old, not reading the room is kinda understandable as he hadn't talked properly to anyone for 30 years before getting reincarnated. Rudeus also felt like Orsted might know something, with how knowledgeable he was of their identities, so his curiosity got the better of him. He didn't want to let and oppurtunity at more info slip by, as ignorance to this kind of info was what caused the fight with Paul. Another thing, Orsted only cocked his head and stopped like that after passing them (5:12) because he thought Ruijierd looked familiar; he couldn't recognise Ruijierd with his bald head + headband. Also the fact that Orsted vibrated in Rudeus' demon eye was not because of some special power, that's just showing how quickly he can react to even the slightest movement, which blurs into all those possibilities. Rudeus in LN said "If this vision was true, then in a second from now, there would be five of him." when Orsted was bearing down on him to kill.
Orsted crushed Rudeus' lungs, knowing that was the easiest way to take out a mage, as they cannot cast spells without speaking. Of course he didn't know about Rudeus' voiceless magic so that went wrong. You'll notice Orsted takes the most efficient route to defeating his opponent instead of just blasting them with some end-all attack. He exerts just as much force and speed as he needs, nothing more or less. The way Eris got pushed back was a Water God Sword Style called flow, which Rudeus saw Paul use on him once, yet Orsted's version was perfect compared to Paul's. Also when Rudeus points his hand in his mouth and uses wind magic, he's forcing air into his lungs seeing as they can't expand/contract to suck in air that well right now after getting squashed. Pretty cool thinking on his part despite the situation. "Disturb Magic" only works in a small area, which is why Rudeus could use magic in his left hand but not his right, where Orsted was disturbing the mana flow. Rudeus noticed this and took advantage of it to get further away by combining two types of magic to create a shockwave, which is what pushed Rudeus backwards. Orsted saw this combined magic and tried to copy it, just for kicks, which resulted in that Wyrm Gate mana absorber thing. It was skipped here, but during the fight Rudeus attempted to use the Beast Tribe's paralysing voice magic, and of course, it didn't work. Orsted saw this as just mana coalescing and then disappearing, which he found a little confusing.
When Rudeus fired that stone cannon off the floor, he intentionally set the speed, sharpness and hardness to the most he could possibly manage, while normally he has it blunted so to only knock out his target (unless they're monsters of course, but he still never puts in that much power). Also when he used the fireball, the reason it changed colours as it did was because Rudeus was using wind magic to add oxygen to it which naturally changed the fire's colour as it increased in temp. Once he fired it, it would have destroyed a great portion of the mountain range, as he was imagining a nuclear explosion (without fallout of course) This would be about 39,426 degrees Celsius or more (violet flame temp; 71000 degrees Fahrenheit), of course, I'm not a scientist so take that with a bucket of salt. You were close with the thing about the spell rising through different tiers, except the fireball was always just a beginner/intermediate spell, it never changed rank, but it would have the firepower of an imperial attack due to the amount of mana put into it, so in a way, yeah it was rising in tiers. Rudeus doesn't know any saint+ tier fire magic, so imperial level fire magic wouldn't really be possible. He was pretty depraved of rational thinking on the verge of death, as this attack would have killed everyone (apart from Orsted) there, Ruijierd, Eris, Nanahoshi, and Rudeus himself included. Probably why Orsted used a mana absorber instead of dogding/blocking, since he only wants Rudeus dead.
Unfortunately, Rudeus can't use voiceless healing magic, one of the few main schools of magic that he can't do silently. Orsted also doesn't know this and thinks that Rudeus isn't healing himself to make Orsted let his guard down for a sneak attack or the like, but ends up slightly disappointed when the fight ends without further trouble after turning Rudeus into a donut. Another skipped detail was that Orsted noticed that Rudeus wasn't wearing Touki (A technique that even non-swordspeople use without thinking to enhance their physical offense and defense by covering their body in mana, it's why swordsmen/women are so strong here. Rudeus can't use it for a reason that I hope is discussed in detail later on in the series). It's why Rudeus could never improve like Eris did, along with some lack of general talent for understanding sword techniques. Orsted says something along the lines of "Now you have apostles that can't even wear Touki? What are you plotting Man-God?".
As Orsted watched Eris crawling to Rudeus, he also said "Was he important to you? I'm sorry, Eris Boreas Greyrat. You'll understand one day."

I'm not a visual novel reader but here's my two cents.
Rudy also has the advantage of being from a modern day world with modern day technology. He can think of things that no other person in that world would think of when creating a spell since he exposure to a different world and technology. For example the ultra high spinning cone; very much akin to a gun with a bullet. Of course others in the world would think of "high speed projectile" to achieve something like that but Rudy who would know of a dangerous weapon such as a "gun" can think outside the box and come up with something like that and get different or better results. Or the mana fireball he created, he probably imagined it to be more akin to a nuke or a coronal mass ejection from the sun but others in the world wouldn't know what either of those things are and would just think of a massive fireball; perhaps limiting its destructive capability.

@@jjpark98 Also due to playing bidya gaems & reading light novels/watching anime etc, his mental visualization ability is already superior to the natives, since he can hold a mental image of anime-type magic attacks, visuals wise (combined w/ his understanding of physics, since it's partially based on physics-ish mechanics, but also partially based on mental imaging, so while you can't get on w/ either one exclusively, you can go to really OP degree by comboing both the visualizations & understanding how physics work and all that). Most ppl have to do those longass chants cuz they don't have that much mental imaging as to what X should look like (coherently enough to maintain the mental image that is, I'm sure they could maybe temporarily for a couple seconds maintain it, but without being ingrained to their psyche, it wouldn't last long enough to execute the parameters) since they don't get enough visual/mental stimuli in a shithole medieval world like this, obviously (Dragonkin like Orsted are different due to their pre-apocalypse civ being relatively advanced by magitek etc standards. Orsted literally didn't even bat an eye at Rudy confessing to him that he's not from this world but rather a reincarnation inside the body of Paul's deceased kid (the reason Orsted didn't know of their male kid, cuz it would have originally been a stillborn, so he'd have never met him), because Dragonkin can carry on forever by just Reincarnating, so it's a normal societal thing from Orsted's POV, so he is like "I see" without batting an eye at what he just said, especially since Dragonkin are THE foremost experts in Summoning Magic (and Time Travel magic as well, at least on sorta theoretical sense for the most part, outside of some OP Dragonkin doing R&D on Time Travel magic mechanics at any rate, but for most civvie Dragonkin, they'd know that it's theoretically at least possible, even if it'd be too unstable to be of any use realistically speaking), and since Summoning Magic can bring matter from worlds besides the Six-Sided World, they would know it's theoretically possible to pull shit from other worlds, just a matter of knowing the right Magic Circle combos & mental visualizations to pull some Human or w/e from another world, just like how Perugius Summoned his 12 followers, that are basically various energy entities of X aspect, such as Almanfi the Radiant being basically Light Energy taking humanoid form and all that, so maybe energy lifeforms exist in some other world or something, who tf knows)

1: Rudy indeed can't do incantationless healing since he doesn't understand it the way he understands the elements and other things from our world.
2: Scary thing is that while Orsted didn't know incantationless magic, in the manga, after watching Rudy do it, he instantly does it himself.
3: Rudeus' last spell was basically a nuke, indeed a "screw you, I'm taking you down with me" spell, thing is, it would have killed Eris, Ruijerd, and the entire freaking mountain.
4: Rudeus became afraid when he used the eye because he saw himself getting messed up, and while normally seeing the future allows him to change it, any action he took just made it so that another part of him got messed up, which is why he grabs his bodyparts in quick succession. Orsted was just to fast to counter, all he could do was change where he was getting hit so he was frantically looking for a way to escape his fate, but couldn't.

There's a clear frantic/panicked feeling with how he quickly grabs the different parts of his body, but it's really fluid and some nice extra detail. The reason why Rudeus cant silent cast healing magic from my understanding is because he hasn't practiced it as much and doesn't have the proper knowledge. In the beginning when he first did silent casting he said their was a formula to it ( Element - Size - Speed) and he figured that out through months of practicing the same spell over and over again to the point that it was second nature. his creativity with the elemental spells comes from a basic knowledge of physics (shown when he makes steam, hot air, and the graduation spell cumulonimbus). he doesn't have that much practice with healing magic (only having to heal small bruises, cuts, scrapes etc.) nor does he have the practical medical knowledge to logic his way through a formula because that's what the incantations are for. They call forth the element set the size and speed for the caster so that anyone with the mana for it can cast a little and its the same with healing spells he just hasn't figured them out yet to the same degree as his attack magic.

    • @supermarketone
      @supermarketone 2 роки тому +1

I think it was something like he knew how the periodic elements worked, so elemental magic, but he didn't understand biology like cell division or something, so no healing without incantation. But since sylphy can do both, she has an innate ability to understand the magic, because rudeus taught her as a child. I think.🤷‍♂

    • @sojtus8681

Well that is part of it. Though part of it was that when he was kid and his mind was still malleable enough to learn voiceless healing he did not have the right opurtunity to use it in practice, so he wasn´t able to grasp how magic flows when healing. (Sylphie actually joined Zenith in her "medical clinic" so she got plenty of hands on experiance while still a little kid.)

      @sojtus8681 2 роки тому +1

@@Granxious That was just his theory when trying to figure out why he cant cas voicless healing (later he relizes it was wrong). You don't even really need to know how physics work to be able to do voicless spellcasting. It's about grasping how mana flows when casting,( before your brain becoms dependent on incantations. That is why only little cildren can learn it.)Afterall when teaching it to Sylphie (and others) he only talked about grasping the feeling , not about physics.
Where his knowladge comes in is the complexity/power of the spells he can do. That is something that he couldn't utilize without voiceless casting, but it is not the reason he can do voicless casting.

One great piece of trivia on that episode is the fireball that Rudeus made.
You can see the color shifting over time as the temperature gets hoter, from (coolest) red -> yellow -> """green""" -> blue -> purple (hottest). The idea is that the hotter the fireball gets, the more energy is send out and the wavelength of the light gets shorter and shorter as it carries more energy.
But the real cool stuff comes from the green. There is nearly no green here, it goes yellow -> white -> blue. And the reason behind it is the fireball isn't uniform in its temperature. You're not looking at a single lightsource, but at millions of different lightsource that constanly fluctuates in their temperature and so, in the exact color of the light they emit. So what the color you end up seeing, is just the 'average' color of the ball. And when the green color is the dominant wavelenght, because green is in the middle of the visible spectrum, the color you see will have just as much red and yellow as blue and purple. So on average, it's white. This is why there is no green star in the universe, we just see them as white. Our Sun is white for that exact reason.

You are correct. For Rudeus to cast incantation-less magic, he needs to know at least a decent amount of how the phenomenon works scientifically. For example, when he creates a Cumulonimbus spell, he makes it even better by guiding the hot and cold air in the way that would naturally make one, and not just creating it based on the spell name alone
However, he doesn't know that much on how the human body naturally regenerates wounds, so he can't picture it and can't recreate it without incantation either.

The only thing we know objectively about incantationless magic is that you have to learn it from a young age.
Theory wise we know that the casters talent and/or mindset plays a role - as shown by Rudy since he believes he can't do it.
Scientific knowledge is not something that is needed but it could be that it is easier to learn magic when you have it. Alhough in Rudy's case it backfired in the healing department since he bases all his incantantionless magic on science.

I would say that I wish it continues being this good but since the studio was made specifically for this series, I'm pretty sure we have nothing to worry about!
And yeah I'd agree with you on the 2011 HxH adaptation too! There are a lot of scenes that got so much more interesting compared to the manga (not entirely at fault of the manga though, I feel like it would've been better as a LN personally)
And yeah I totally get the giving out more details part, I like to do that often too, though sometimes I get lost in my own mind and give misinformations... So I try to keep them limited haha
Personally I love ReZero and Mushoku about equally, but it's a bit unfair to judge since ReZero is still ongoing so I'll take a step back once it's finished... Though I have a feeling they will probably stay as equals for me. They're different but really shine in their own unique ways. It's a shame that the 3rd Isekai in the trio isn't quite there yet in terms of quality (Slime), though it's still really good and has some better aspects as the other 2

I had always heard about it, since I'd been reading ReZero for a while before but experiencing all of it at once was an amazing experience that I can safely say, is completely different from anything I had ever read.

Now for the introduction of Orsted. He was actually chatting amicably with Rujeird and Eris. Like he wasn't being intimidating besides his curse. That's why Rudy called out to him to ask him about the displacement incident.
Now for parts about the fight against Orsted v Rudy. Orsted actually popped both Rudy's lungs and disrupted many other organs all at once. Rudy swallowing that air was to reinflate his lungs so he wouldn't black out for oxygen deficiency. When he used that wind blast to put distance between him and Orsted he commented on how it's impressive he can use 2 schools of magic simultaneously. And for the Cou-de-gras, the fireball Rudy fired off was using his knowledge from our world. He made it burn so hot and the ball of fire so strong that had Orsted let it actually impact him the explosion would have killed everyone present easily. Except maybe Orsted himself of course.

The curse Man God spoke of, that is holding him back, makes him need to ramp up his power slowly, making sure he needs to use that amount, before actually doing it. So this bare handed fight was him thinking "no need for weapons".

But is it a deliberate lie or was it an assumption the Man God made because he cannot see the Dragon God's actions? And even that part about not seeing him might not be true.
The way I interpreted the scene when Orsted collapsed his lungs is that Rudy's future sight showed him a half dozen ways to day. That's why his hands are going up and down his whole body, he's trying to figure out what and where to protect himself. I'm anime only, this is just a theory, but here's what I thought when I saw this episode:
Nanahoshi is clearly a name written in Japanize, both "nana" and "hoshi" are definitely words I've heard people say in anime, so she might be reincarnated too. That would explain how she can be alongside Orsted ignoring the curse.
I'm not sure if the Man-God was talking about Orsted when he mentioned a Dragon God before, that might've been a translation thing and the word for "god" is different in the original, but if he was, that makes him being with a reincarnation even more likely.
So, Nanahoshi might have noticed how Rudy isn't affected by the curse and suspected him to also be reincarnated, and Orsted might have spared him because of it (maybe for the same reason he has Nanahoshi with him, who knows)
Why Orsted wouldn't have realized it himself? Not sure, but considering he has a "doesn't matter" in pretty much every sentence he says, maybe he just wasn't invested enough to think of it. He feels really apathetic towards everything, as if he doesn't care at all about the world around him.

I would recommend reading the LN solely for the many POV shifts in it. A lot of characters get their own POV chapters in the novel that really flesh them out so we don't just see the world of MT through Rudeus' eyes in the LN but also through that of lots of other really good characters. One thing we sadly didn't get in the Anime for example is a very very good and insightful Zenith POV chapter around the time the whole Paul affair came to light. Seriously, all the POV chapters are huge highlights and while I love the Anime to death so far - the fact that they might exclude some more of them in the future makes me a little bit sad - but hey, that's what the LN is for. :)

Rudy thought Orsted sounded friendly talking to Eris and Ruijerd, so he thought it was okay to talk to him. Like you said he also felt like Orsted was the type of person who knew a lot of things which is why he asked him questions. Then he was excited to finally meet someone who knew the Man God because he still didn't fully trust him and wanted more information. Obviously all this backfired tremendously lol.

    Dope things about the fight
-While Ruijerd wasn't able to land a blow let alone a scratch, Rudy's staff-less reinforced Rock bullet was enough to land a hit and hurt his hand
-Rudy pumped his lungs with an air blast to not faint, since Orsted collapsed both of them
-In the novel Orsted was surprised that Rudy was doing voiceless melded chanting and attempted to duplicate it on the spot
-Rudy can't do voiceless healing since he "doesn't get it", this implies that if Rudy had medical knowledge on the level of a surgeon he could do something since most of his tricks rely on scientific knowledge
-The purple fire ball certainly was on the level of a Nuke, the color went through the spectrum which is a nice detail for the anime. Orsted said that it was on the scale of the Demon God Laplace, making it a chantless, staff-less god ranked fire spell so it'd have killed everyone but Orsted and flattened the mountain
-Orsted casted a healing spell capable of regrowing limbs, important organs and not leave a scratch. This shows that Dragon God Orsted is at least God ranked in healing, Water God style (counters) and North God style (tank stance)

23:18 That is an interesting thought. I've always felt like it varies a lot depending on what the godlike being is. Some arrogant demiurge like figure or the likes tends to be better while backhanding people for daring to get in the way. While less human more neutral godlike beings feel better when they tend to not really care. A good example I can think of for a highly arrogant still powerful yet pretty petty godlike being is Lord Foul. Kind of feel like this really depends massively on the role of the character.

I think this episode made me realised that nanahoshi is the only character with black hair in the series so far and she has an Japanese name too. What's even crazier that when rudeus died, they mentioned someone missing other than 2 guys during the accident at the first few minutes of ep 1. Which leaves the girl. My theory is that that girl that rudeus saved at the accident, got teleported rather than reincarnated due to her hair colour and physical appearance. Then again, I might be looking too much into it. Maybe I'll see the answer in 2nd season.

Nanahoshi's names is mentioned before this episode, Rudy explicitly states that he has met 0 black-haired people, the names in this world are LARGELY European, except for Ogres which seem to be this world's Japanese, and even then they only share culture, the names are still weird.
