    Got my cbr500r a month ago cant stop ridding it taking the long way...everywhere, used to ride a gsx 1100 many years ago. i know this is a "beginners" bike but its fast enough and handles great in the corners i am really not thinking of selling it for more power, it might be your "Only" bike unless your going to the track .

    So good hearing so much good points on this bike! I wasn't looking at this model at all but someone 1 mile away from my house was selling it for 2k dollars (2019 one) so I had to buy it! Tempted to pick a used one up for the hell of it but not sure if I will regret it. Grew up riding dirt bikes and 4 wheelers and then my first motorcycle was a 2009 Ninja 250 (bought it new). I knew at the time it was slow but with the money I wanted to spend it was either a brand new 250 or an older 600. Rode it on and off but sold it a few years back. Last year I got a 1980 Yamaha XJ650 which I ride daily. It's that perfect balance of not insanely slow but not too crazy that I will kill myself. That's the reason I am interested in the 500r. As much fun as I'd have with a faster bike on highways I know myself and I wouldn't be able to hold back and would eventually get myself killed.

    • @AndrewHartsock
      @AndrewHartsock  3 роки тому +2

      It’s incredibly important to learn how to ride the correct way. For instance, you’re using mostly rear break but your front brake should be used a majority of the time as it makes up roughly 70% of your stopping power. Using both in conjunction with each other is crucial. Learning on your own is fine but I highly recommend watching some UA-cam videos about how to ride if you’re not going to take a safety class.

      I actually did a video on this. I'm in the states so its 0-60mph. But none the less the factory says around 5 seconds and I tested it just above 6 seconds. But I wasn't really pushing it 100%. If I was to try again I'm thinking I could get closer to 5.5 seconds

      Piece of advice. Don't bother "upgrading" the exhaust. It won't change the power output and it can actually shorten the life of the engine due to changing the air/fuel mixture. If more power is what you want, then buy a more powerful bike. Buying an exhaust has to be the single dumbest thing that noobs do to their bikes.

    Is this a downgrade from a yamaha fz6r? I sold my fz6r about a year ago and miss it. The power was fine, handling fine yeah it was heavy but it was a great bike.

    • @AndrewHartsock
      @AndrewHartsock  3 роки тому

      I wouldn't call it a downgrade. But I see the fz6r is around 75 hp and the 500R is not even 50 hp. So I think it just depends on what you're wanting out of your bike. The 500R has been fantastic for me but I will be looking to upgrade soon.
