  • The theory of the multiverse in its contemporary, current form, sits on the fringes of science. Mocked by some, believed as proven by others, it is probably a little too radical for true science. Or is it? When you consider almost all of humanity’s 6000 years of attempting an understanding of the universe, it is only in the last 60 years that we have truly begun to grasp the sheer unfathomable scale of where we live. Each discovery leads to more mystery, mystery that science is always trying to transmute into theory. One of the biggest bug bears of physicists is that the classical rules of physics do not apply at the quantum level. Atoms behave unpredictability until they reach a state of “emergence”, which is the level at which they become observable matter, thus the classical laws of physics are relevant. So, what is happening at the quantum level? Ener, multiverse…

    Nice.
But now explain how, under quantum mechanics, the moon only exists if it is observed.
So unobserved its atoms behave like waves, not particles,
Because that's where my kids laugh at me...

"The emergence of quantum theory in science is becoming more credible..." Indeed this is true! What you don't seem to realize is that Quantum Mechanics has been "credible" (it is the most tested and proven theory in all of science) for over 100 years now, and that the Multiverse Theory is just 1 of several interpretations of Quantum Mechanics, and it isn't even the most generally accepted interpretation. I think what you meant to say is that Multiverse Theory is becoming more credible (in some circles) not Quantum Mechanics.

I first heard mention of it in 6 Easy Peaces by Feynman (Quantum Mechanics) but he gave me the impression it was the fringes of science in the 60s. Now it feels like scientists almost know it to be true, they just can't quite fit the mathematics. We need Einstein!
