I love how a character which was introduced and killed off in litteraly the first historical form of star wars media we had in 77 has such a huge story in books, comics and even the animated shows.

A lot of this really does explain the whole "Tarkin Doctrine", with how he was raised to use fear above all else, and with stunning effect.

      Fear would be effective, yes.
But Tarkin grew reckless in his old age, and confused inspiring fear for inspiring outrage and hate, when he ordered the destruction of Alderaan.

@@RooneyHimself exactly fear can work on a small scale. You can make someone scared they’re going to lose their job, so they hunker down and try and do better. But when you take it to the level of what the empire does on a daily basis, which is just commit genocide and indiscriminate brutality is against billions of people. You wind up, creating a bunch of people who have either lost so much or have so much to lose that not opposing you is the stupid decision in that equation.

Imagine spending your entire life as a military man and excelling at it but then some Police officers were put in charge of you as your General. Imagine a monk apprentice, somebody around 14-15 years old with no life experience being given any sort of position of authority again over professionally trained and experienced officers whether clone or regulars; possibly over you. Then you can understand Tarkin’s chagrin towards Ahsoka on Lola Seyu.

They really arent Thrawn believed in a flexible military, he would have preferred more star destroyers or better TIE fighters. Tarkin while I could understand his Ideology it is however fundamentally flawed, people while could be considered animals are not ruled by instinct while animals do, this is where he fails, he thought by having the death star everyone would submit but it was the building of the death star that would be the empire undoing by plunging the galaxy into poverty making everyone think negatively of the empire and see them as tyrants.

@@videogameplayer7555 the reason I say they are so simular is because; they started from the bottom of the barrel in their respective military. Rising through the ranks dealing with rivals and making superior officers look like fools. I will admit how they did it was vastly different and I'd rather be under Thrawn's command any day of the week. However there is something nice about watching people beating the odds.

@@nfrandom007 Thats true I thought you meant on a ideology level thats my bad but I see your point. Yeah Tarkin beating odds and with what you said by saving everyone and even though he doesnt say it outright he is far more competent than his superiors during his time in the Military.

Happy to stumbled in this. Love tarkin but it’s quiet telling that palpating didn’t really have to manipulate him. Just test him. Tarkin was brilliant but palps saw that tarkin was a machine of order that will continue to do the right thing for the name of order.

We need a Star wars movie where Tarkin is some sort of the main character and it's taken place during the time Tarkin would speak to Palpatine and argue he doesn't Trust Vader because he is a Jedi/ force wielder. This is where Palpatine would admit he is Anakin and then decide to give him a chance. This could be a great story.

Great choice in character Bio. I think Tarkin has been an under appreciated character, for how wide his story spans as far as canon lore and especially movies & tv.

Know people have done Vader comics before but this guy should absolutely do the complete life story which would include anakin too, it’d be big but it’d be great, same with palpatine which hasnt been done to the same extent as Vader has.
