im pretty sure everyone who played this died a little inside when they had to witness Joel's gruesome passing
I know I did :(
You would think I am crazy or something but I actually had to get drunk to cope with the depression I had after beating this game. I had to mourn Joel's death as if he was a real person.
Zak Shelton am i crazy or your channel sub to Ps5Trophies Aka brian English
saurav raj Singh I feel you bro. It hit me hard too. Way more than I expected
Tristin Levy damm man I didn’t mourn at all I haven’t mourn to a video game character since gta v
I love how you put in music and dialogue from the first game It really emphasized the game
Thanks. Playing certain parts, I had lines from the first game bouncing around my head. When it came time to make the episode, I got really excited about putting those lines in the video.
I love everything he does
@@AdamMcDermott you probably don't remember me.... But I was the one who asked for help on last of us platinum with the multiplayer. After a long time of playing multiplayer I got it.. I took a huge break from everything. Now I am going for the platinum on this game. Thank you for doing this video
Ive never been so conflicted over a character and game. Times I hate Abby and want her to meet her end, but then other times I feel sorry for her and like her. Incredible and weird at the same time lol.
Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. Really interesting game.
Loved this game going to platinum it On Joel's birthday Sept 26 saving the put a hat on your companion for the last trophy to get the Platinum
That sounds wonderful.
I wish I could have saved that for last, but I got it on my first playthrough not realizing it was a trophy lol
My last trophy was finding a coin I missed for Abby on the island which was pretty underwhelming. I wanted my last one to be in Santa Barbara where I needed the last journal entry for Ellie.
My TLOU 1's Platinum was obtained on Ashley Johnson's 36th Birthday :D and TLOU 2's Platinum was obtained exactly 360 days after TLOU 1 one :D
@@ВладиславБулаев-л3э one thing that is stopping me from getting the platinum for TLOUR is the multiplayer grind. TLOUP2 had an easy one which was nice.
This game was the best single player experience I've ever had. I don't want to platinum it until I play it with my folks. I usually bring up new movies when I fly out to see them. But next month I'm definitely bringing up my PS4 with this game.
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the game so much.
@@AdamMcDermott definitely aim to platinum it in the future.. then again on PS5 ha
@@traviscue2099 best singleplayer is rdr2 and ghost of tsushima imo
@@mariomorgan6083 I enjoyed both those games, but for me they didn't compare for the experience I had with TLOU2
@@traviscue2099 ok then everyone's entitled to their opinion 👍
Only yesterday I was thinking 'where's Adam he must be working on something big', again you don't dissapoint the work that goes into these videos is phenomenal good job man
Haha, perfect timing. Happy to hear it didn't disappoint.
I love the detail the studio put into recreating Seattle. I’m from that region and I thought it was beautiful playing through.
That is pretty cool to hear.
That ending montage - perfect
*chefs kiss*
It is the most important part of the video for me. Saying goodbye to one of my favourite characters. Delighted to hear you liked it.
@@AdamMcDermott I just finished the game last night and watching your video, especially that montage really hit hard. It's amazing how much TLOU hits me in the feels.
@@waveplay3978 Yeah, there are few games that have such an emotional impact as TLOU.
Adam is back and I've just platinumed rise of the tomb raider while watching this platinum journey
Congratulations on platinuming Tomb Raider!
Chris Massey I started playing Rise, recently and I played for bout an hour and got bored. I did finish tomb raider 2013 and rather enjoyed, somewhat. So I may go back to Rise.
Bunch of lies
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great game. The score attack trophies are the only difficult ones really and some of them can be a real pain but I thought it was a marvellous game and a very enjoyable platinum.
@@joeshaw7193 yeh no way could he do it in like 20 mins
This was a weird platinum for me because the story affected me so much, I almost didn't even bother with my second playthrough. On my second playthrough I just got up to the part where I got the platinum and didn't carry on because I couldn't go through the ending again. I do think as well that it would have been better if completing it on survivor was part of the platinum like the first game, but not complaining too much about that haha. Awesome video as always man :)
Yeah, it is a tough game to play at times due to the story. Yeah, Survivor could have made the episode better. However, a Bonus episode with Grounded is planned in the future.
@@AdamMcDermott Ah awesome, look forward to watching that. I'm thinking of doing it on Grounded as well and trying out the permadeath stuff to try and get the 100%, but the permadeath may be a tad tricky haha
Yo same man. I just plowed through my second play through and had to fully upgrade Abby with supplements. I got to the part where you leave Yara and Lev the first time you meet them, then I picked up the supplements and right after just threw in the towel. Got my platinum and said “Thank fuck I don’t have to continue on anymore”
Could’ve been such a great game but sadly wasn’t
@@hawtsaws5313 Yeah, don't blame you for hitting the eject button. Certainly not a "fun" game.
@@AdamMcDermott you know bro , as i played the game again and again for the plat, the story just got worse for me but i am happy for someone who enjoyed it !

@@Bica836 End of September/early October for Pokemon Gold.
the stress of starting part 2 and getting through the first couple hours is so relatable haha, I always want to keep replaying the game but only seattle day 1 and beyond
Yeah, if there was a "skip the sad part" for each new playthrough, I'd take it.
I loved this game. The only thing that disappointed me was how easy the platinum trophy was. I’m happy they added the grounded mode trophies.
Yeah, adding Grounded is nice. Even threw in permadeath, which is insane to me.
Adam McDermott bloody great episode by the way! Can’t wait for the next one.
@@I_Play_Vic20 Cheers. Happy to hear you enjoyed the episode.
@@I_Play_Vic20 Agreed. I'm glad they added the grounded and permadeath trophies though. Those will be a nice challenge.
I think Grounded was harder in Part I because in Part II there are still checkpoints during encounters.
Ashley Johnson's performance in the golfing scene is Incredible.
She did an excellent job.
I feel your pain folks.... Firstly, thank you Adam, this was one of my favourite Platinum Journeys. Having watched all of your videos (some several times lol) it was you who made me actually complete the last of us part 1 (FYI, loved it) so when part 2 came out, like the rest of you I was looking forward to playing it (I bought it on its release date). Now not being the most avid gamer I'm quick to buy a game and stop playing it after a few hours (by back catalogue is embarrassing) this game however had me playing it whenever I could... Honestly, I loved it.. I bonded with both Ellie and Abby on both of their journeys through the game, this included one of the only times I have genuinely had a "Holy F**k" moment when Ellie discovered she had killed a pregnant woman. Everyone is entitled to their opinion obvs but I truly think. That love it or hate it I bet most ppl who lived the first game as much as I did will play through this game more than once, I know I am! I'm also going for the Platinum. Thank you Adam for sharing your experience with the game. You're a legend.... Ps, was that whole glass full of Wiskey??? :)
You're welcome.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'm happy to hear the game made such an impact on you.
It was a glass mostly full of whiskey with a splash of red lemonade to take the edge off. It didn't work :)
@@AdamMcDermottlol. Fair enough. :)
ur a pretty shallow audience then
Finally.. the goat is here cant wait to watch this
Great video Adam! The editing at the end especially that tied up Joel's journey was masterfully done.
On the point of Abby slitting Dina's throat, I agree it's a deplorable act but the way I see it, it's just in the game to drive further home the fact of how revenge drives us to unspeakable acts. In Abbys mind at that point, killing Dina who is pregnant is the perfect revenge against Ellie killing her friends. It is meant to hit home further the whole cycle of vengeance theme. It shows what dark places a person can be driven too by this need for retribution, despite the fact that she was already finding her redemption through Lev. That's why its specifically him that stops her as well. Only through this new person she cares about is she redeeming herself and finding her humanity, and vengeance almost made her throw that all away. When he calls her out on it she realizes what was about to happen and then spares Ellie for a second time. So for me, it just fits the story and its themes.
Thank you very much. Glad you liked the ending.
Interesting point. Revenge can lead people to do unspeakable acts. Without Lev as a beacon/reminder of her redemption, Abby would would have gone through with it. Does indeed fit with the themes of the game.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Your videos are just pure class mate. Really look forward to the pokemon gold journey!
I was waiting for this, I loved this game, and this platinum journey puts the stick on a level so so high! Great job mate, great job!
Thank you very much. I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed it so much.
Loved the way you got the platinum with the happiest trophy in the game! I will do the same. But, I am gonna wait to do my 2nd playthrough...
I had to end on a happy note :)
Even though I haven't played TLOU2 I've seen enough video on the subject. That tribute at the end left me staring at a screen of video thumbnails long after the actual video ended. See you around Joel.
Thank you so much for saying that. Making a proper tribute for Joel at the end was really important to me. One of my favourite character who will be dearly missed.
Adam I want you to know you’re my favorite UA-cam channel and your hard work is so appreciated!
Thank you very much. I'm honoured to be your favourite!
Oh god. Watching this video made me remember how hard it was for me to get through this game emotionally. I was devastated in the end. And I could barely bring myself to play it again for the remaining trophies. It was challenging. This is probably the best story ever written in a video game. The drama is real, the tension, the characters. Naughty Dog created a masterpiece that I love so much. But it brings tears to my eyes even remembering the story. It’s bitter but beautiful
Great episode, man. One of my favorites, which is incredible considering my overall thoughts on TLOU2
The Last of us 10/10
The Last of us part two 6/10
The Last of us platinum journey 9/10
The Last of us part two platinum journey 10/10
Wow, you preferred my episode of Part II to the actual game. Huge compliment. Thank you.
I personally enjoyed the platinum journey of the first game more, the more time it takes me, the more I enjoy it.
@@MakZakk I didn't mean to say there was anything wrong with the platinum journey for the first game, because I loved that one too. I just felt like this one went above and beyond with the edits of dialogue thrown in at just the right moments, the montage at the end, and the fact that it expertly cut the game down to show the game in the absolute best light without feeling like a misrepresentation of the game, if that makes sense
Tlou2 is one of my favourite games of all time I really enjoyed it :) and getting the platinum was fun apart from the 248 collectables
Those collectibles are a pain, haha.
In my opinion Tlou2 was only trash because if Abby otherwise the gameplay wasn't that bad
@@mariomorgan6083 i think they could of made a better character to kill off joel he deserved to die but by abby that just a no no
@@blax140 Yes you are right Joel's death was inevitable l, but should have had that a mass firefly patrol shoots down jackson and Joel manages to save everyone he loves but sustains a grave wound
@@blax140 I think the way Joel died was really hard to deal with. I’ve got no problem with who killed him. To me it makes sense. Joel murdered Abby’s father. Plain and simple revenge.
my platinum helped me learn to love this game :)
That's pretty cool.
Yes so glad that you were able to do such a quick turnaround with this game. Cant wait to watch.
Thank you!
Had a great time getting the platinum for tlou 2!
You are not alone :)
My level of excitement for just one UA-cam video has never been higher before
This game has the best story and gameplay in a videogame ever in my opinion. It’s such a mature story and made me feel so many diverse emotions like nothing a game has ever done for me. Truly a masterpiece :)
It is nice to hear you enjoyed the game so much.
“best story”
desertfish74 Yes, and it’s been my favorite game for 7 years, and I love the story of the second one aswell, Joel and Ellie are my favourite videogame characters ever and i love their relationship. The last of us is a masterpiece and the second one is as good, I love how they did bits with Joel, but having the same exact game as the first one wouldn’t have been fun, they had some parts with joel and, in my opinion, the dinosaur part is the best in the game, but by killing off Joel they make you so sad and it breaks you emotionally, i was crying about Joel for like a week, but that’s what made it so good, the fact that it makes you feel all these different emotions. Games have made me cry happy tears and sad tears over and over, but never like the last of us did. I know everyone has different opinions, and if you don’t like the story and ending, I understand, because I wasn’t such a fan of the ending at all in the beginning, but after I started thinking, I made peace with it, and I personally find it wonderful.
im falling asleep to these every night to unwind Thanks Adam! all your videos are bangers and much appreciated!
That is a huge compliment. Glad I can get you comfortable for a good night's sleep.

Welcome to the channel. I'm happy to hear you enjoy my videos so much. Cheers!
That little Tribute to Joel at the End gave me Goosebumps... And some tears. Here's to you Joel and you too Adam. Great video as always.
Thank you very much. The ending of the video is the most important part of it for me. Was an emotional wreck putting it together. Worth it in the end.
The Man, The Myth and The Legend that is Adam McDermott!
I’ve been watching you for a while now and just wanted to mention your content is amazing and I love it. Especially this episode cause it’s like it’s own sequel to your original TLOU platinum journey and this episode is a rollercoaster of emotions.
Thank you for saying such kind words. Yeah, a rollercoaster of emotions :)
"Joel?!?, IT IS A DINOSAUR!!!!" Oh my god my poor heart. I platted this game and haven't played it since. I admire Naughty Dog for creating a narrative that wasn't just fan service, that would have been easy. And bleak is alright, it's a bleak, miserable world after all. But for jaysus sake the sheer amount of misery makes this game a psychological chore to play.
Great moment, one of my favourites. Yeah, it is certainly a psychological chore to play at times. Don't fancy trying Grounded for a while to come.
@@AdamMcDermott I've been speedrunning Grounded on the first game for a while now. Not on a professional level by the way, I got 4:36 as my best time, just under 2 hours of Anthony Calibre's record.
Nothing about TLOU2 makes me want to replay it, quickly or otherwise. I'm a bit of a completionist so I will give it a shot but I can see myself giving up...
@@GerryBolger That is a pretty good time. Apparently speedrunning Part II is great fun because of how many combat arenas you can skip.
Wen I watched this game on yt I didn’t feel a connection, but when I played it and beat it, it made me feel really connected

Keep it up the good work and stay safe.
Thanks. Yeah, really great bunch of people around the channel. Some have said they don't like the game for valid reasons (story structure, character arcs). Just a differing of opinion. Nothing wrong with that.

The first game is in my top 5 games of all time. But when I heard the leaked story I absolutely refused to play it. Still haven’t to this day & probably won’t ever. But love your content.

@@AdamMcDermott 😃😃
When I played thsi when it first came out it took me 26 hours and around 47 minutes. It was personal, one of the best games out there for 2020 for me. I love everything about it. What I hate is how the community reacted to it. Liek wo can you call yourself fans and supporter if you send death threats to a VA? And hate on a character just because of who they are? To me it was worth the wait, it was worth every second, minutes. It was so raw and real at points and I absolutely fucking love it. I've been meaning to play it again to get platinum but I just haven't been able to bring myself to it. Im also been working on cosplaying Eliie and I'm almost done, I just need to finish her hunting rifle and I'm done.
Respect the opinion
But aswer me this questions i have
1joel just says hes name and him being the guy doesnt even trust hes shadow why? (he killed more that 100 people)
2 abby not judging but the game could have just sayed she was super buff but nothing so its weird
3 jesse he dies and every one forgets about him
This is not a question for you to aswer just to put it there.
why not making the end a choice?
@@purevessel6026
Vaild question and to answer them, Joel didnt give Abby his name, Tommy said it. Quote: "Hey I'm tommy, that's Joel."
And whys it weird to have a very masculine women character?
No one forgot about him, only people who didnt like him forgot about him. I'm not such at which point near the end you mean, kill or not to kill Abby or forgive or not to forgive Joel?
I think only a small subset of the overall community reacted so horribly. The game sold 5+ million copies so far, only a few thousand people were mean. For most people who didn't like the game, they just moved on with their lives.
Best of luck with you Ellie cosplay. I'm always impressed when people put so much effort into looking like one of their favourite characters.
@@AdamMcDermott Thank you for the luck with my cosplay. And your right, it was only a few thousand but it always sucks just whe some people take it too.
@@fearless_op_player7977 i know Joel would HAVE died anyway yet they had to put him to say his name so it makes him Look stupid
Abby, im cool with it but no explanation, to me feels weird some what of explanation would be better(i mean just a litle conversation or a smal cutseen of her training would have resolve this
Ahh... I've been waiting many moons for this
Very good video. Started a grounded+ play through last night. Just trying to get a respectable platinum to join my Uncharted 2 Platinum. Nearly finished UC1 but crushing is a nightmare. Anyways, good video. I respect the amount of work gone into these videos. 👍
Thank you. Best of luck with Grounded+. Uncharted 1 has the toughest overall crushing difficulty of all the Uncharted games. Don't feel too bad if you are struggling at times.
Great video my guy! Personally, loved the game and even found it to have more emotional depth than its predecessor which I lived dearly.
Here are a few items I caught my second time through-
1) On Joel's bedside table, there is an "Idiot's Guide to Space" book. Another way he was trying to connect with Ellie.
2) Ellie picks up Joel's owl mug he was drinking out of during the porch scene. It prompts Ellie to draw an owl in her journal, and a bit later she writes "Future Days" lyrics about keeping promises made at sundown.
3) In the pet shop, Dina tests the waters by asking Ellie how'd she feel about raising a little creature (JJ) together. First time through, I thought she meant a dog or cat.
4) As Ellie and Dina explore Seattle, they discuss their dream to have a farm.
5) Soon after Abby delivers her final blow to Joel's head, there are various emotions that flash on her face including anger, disappointment, and disgust. A sign it did not give her catharsis.
6) When Abby wakes up on Seattle day one, it shows that she is reading "City of Thieves," which is about a Jewish boy named Lev (meaning "heart" in Hebrew) who is captured by Soviet soldiers and thrown in a cell with a solider who was arrested for deserting. The unlikely pair first are cold to each other but later become friends.
7) The aquarium mural painted by Max and later touched up by Owen shows zebras and giraffes coexisting in Seattle. Both animals are representative of a nice moment Abby and Ellie had with their fathers.
8) Before the outbreak, "Cassandra" was playing at the theater. It is based on a Greek tragedy about a woman who suffers due to Apollo's revenge. It is a perfect setting for a real tragedy to play out.
9) I believe Ellie heading back to the once sun-drenched but now dreary farmhouse after sparing Abby is an ode to the painting "Christina's World." The painting depicts a physically impaired woman lying in a field of wheat as she looks up to a white farmhouse. Though her body is frail, she still keeps her head high and leans her body towards the house as she yearns for it. It shows that even though she is suffering, she still is spiritually strong. The same can be said for Ellie. Ellie walked away from a room of contents that have defined her past and now walks towards her future whatever that entails. Perfect setup of for a part three with her.
Wow! Buddy, you are blowing my mind. I missed every detail you highlighted. Now I feel I need yet another playthrough.
Amazing edit!! Got me in the feels at the end there. I started this video thinking this was going to my 'second playthrough' but watching this has made start thinking about doing a second playthrough. Gratz on the plat!!
Thanks, Lucy. You are not the only I got in the feels at the end.
Yeah, not an easy game to play. Would have definitely for you real second playthrough to skip a few cutscenes. Still rough to watch. Thankfully, the game is more enjoyable the second time around...kinda :)
I wasn't a huge fan of TLOU2 after my first playthrough (I usually described it as a 6/10) and didn't expect to enjoy it any more on my second playthrough, but honestly I kind of did. My criticisms for the execution of the story still largely stand, but I grew to appreciate the overall story they told. I still have very mixed feelings, but I'm glad I played it a second time
@@haydeng3316 Yeah, definitely better the second time through.

12:48 Hearing Ellie sing the Final song Joel sung to Ellie... It does something to you man.
So sad
I’ve played through this game 4 times now in order to get all the trophies, including the Grounded and Permadeath trophies, and with each playthrough I disliked it more and more. Is the gameplay bad? Not really, it’s fine, it does it’s job. The gameplay mechanics are very refined but there’s nothing at all unique about them. As for the story, it certainly took risks which I can respect from an artistic point of view, but it’s very comparable to Star Wars: The Last Jedi in that while the ideas weren’t bad the execution was muddled to say the least.
I felt the same way about this game as I did when that film ended: “not the worst, not the best”.
Most of the game is filler, I feel like they knew they wanted to kill Joel and have the confrontation between him and Ellie about the vaccine and that was all they had. This game did not have to be 22 hours long, cutscenes included, and would’ve been better served had at least 6 hours been cut, most notably the Santa Barbara section.
The new characters are completely bland, I felt nothing when any of them died, including Mel.
“Oh no, Ellie killed a pregnant woman, isn’t she awful” the game says straight faced.
But she was killing plenty of women beforehand who could’ve potentially been pregnant with no remorse. The main characters are slasher movie villains with little empathy until it’s convenient for the story.
It is far from a masterpiece, but it is not the worst game ever made either, though there are plenty of games out there which I feel are far more deserving of your time than this.
Thank you for sharing you thoughts about the game. I absolutely understand your points.
Geralt of Trivia I feel like you’ve taken my criticism of the game personally. I never said it was wrong to like the game, I just feel like it has faults and is not a masterpiece, a word which I feel is overused when describing games, movies and so on.
Very few games are truly masterpieces, so it is no insult to say that this one isn’t.
@Geralt of Trivia Bro people are allowed to have opinions and stuff but man what? How are you saying the first game was awful and this game isn't bad? You're either an excellent troll or idk guess you just like a non compelling story....
@@conorkennedy1687 I've only played the game twice since when i went to do grounded i legitimately couldn't be bothered but i ended up liking it more the second time. Why? Because i skipped all of the cutscenes and only played it to get all the collectibles...The only reason this game lacked was the story, i think everything else done fantastically. While the gameplay isn't unique i feel like it has one of the best and most enjoyable combat experience, the dashing although is a very simple add, changes the gameplay a lot for the better. The guns feel very nice to use, proning, able to break glass and stuff i felt was a very nice touch.
Even though i didn't like Abby and some of the characters, the actors performances were good at least, graphically i believe it is the best looking game on ps4, it would've been a dream if it was 60fps not 30fps tho.
But yeah in the end, it isn't the worst game ever created and isn't the best. But it certainly is a trash game COMPARED to the first game.
I can respect your opinion but why would you play it again and again if you disliked it after every playthrough. Putting yourself through that just doesn’t make any sense. 4 playthroughs is about 70 to 80 hours for a game you dislike so much
I still need to finish the platinum trophy, because after playing it for the first time I just needed a break from the story
It is a heavy game. Taking a break is a good idea.
Oh boy, this is going to be a good one! Personally I’m in the masterpiece camp when it comes to Last of Us Part II, and cannot wait to play it for a 3rd time when the PS5 launches!

Hey Adam the Episode was Great as always. I played through the Game on grounded and in my opinion it really makes the game better. Is there a possibility that we will see you doing a grounded playthrough?
Yes indeed. I do plan on doing a bonus episode covering Grounded at some point.
Really like the way you do these videos. I’ve been watching your channel all night 😂
I'm honoured. Welcome to the channel.
The ending of this video 😭💔
Adam, you weave such a story with your videos. I've been between jobs this week and binging on your videos. I wouldn't wish to have spent this week any other way. I'll finish my rum and coke now, and perhaps find another of your videos to watch while I wait for my new job to start. By the way, you've inspired me to start my first platinum journey and I'm currently working towards a Ghost of Tsushima platinum. Thanks for the inspiration :)
Thank you for saying such kind words. I'm honoured to help you fill the time between jobs. Best of luck with Ghost of Tsushima!
@@AdamMcDermott Thanks Adam! I managed to get the Platinum yesterday. I can't wait to see your experience with it
@@ramsy66 Nice. Congratulations on the platinum. Great game.
I doubt if we will ever get an emotional masterpiece like TLOU2
This channel is great Adam, I must admit I only recently discovered it as I’m getting the platinum for the Last of Us 1 and saw your journey. I’m enjoying catching up on each video as it’s clear how much time and effort you put into each one!
Thank you. Welcome to the channel :)
You ended your Platinum Journey the exact same way I did.
I wanted to leave TLOU2 with a Happy Scene.
We think alike :)
Adam, this might be your best video yet. I could listen to you talk about games for hours. I agree with you 100% on the story. Great work as always.
Thanks. I do think it is one of my best, helps that I had great source material :)
Great video! I agree this game was very uncomfortable to play but I also kind of wish the platinum was a little bit harder than it is
I agree. The video was great and the time flew. Good editing and music but to me this didn't feel like a platinum journey. It felt like a normal playthrough. Maybe the trophies were easy to get and it was just a case of cleaning up. Looking forward to a potential grounded mode playthrough in the future.
Thanks! Yeah, even tying a trophy to Survivor would have made a big difference for the difficulty of the platinum.
Delighted to hear the time flew. Always a potential problem for a big video to feel far too long.
Yeah, I understand what you mean by this feeling like a regular playthrough. Probably one of the easiest trophy lists I've done. I do indeed plan on doing a Grounded Bonus Episode at some point. It will be interesting to fully master the combat and encounters.
@@AdamMcDermott Sounds good to me :)
I prefer it not being like the first one. I feel platinuming TLOU1 can ruin your experience. Especially the multiplayer trophies. I got one of the factions, then said fuck it on the other
A gritty divisive game. Emotionally tough, for even a near emotionless guy like me. As commented in your last tlou2 video, it make all the more sense on a second playthrough. Glad you had a light moment for the final platinum ding..... til your next upload
Yeah, second playthrough definitely helped. Gotta end on a happy moment. Go out with a smile :)
this game does a great job of showing the 2 sides to every story situation really well its a shame most people hate abby for killing Joel and never bother to look at why she did it or the fact she let ellie go TWICE without killing her and its funny that in the end if ellie didn't chase her down she would have been killed the writers did a great job imo
I think a lot of people felt the way you did my friend. I for one did the exact same thing by taking it all in the second time around. Thanks for the upload buddy.
Glad to hear I'm not alone :)
@@AdamMcDermott I also liked the little touches you added as well. Nice little flourishes man 🙂
I know I’m late to this but damn. This editing was some of the best I’ve ever seen for a video. The quality of this was next level. Very, very well done. Also out of interest, did you enjoy the game? I know it’s a very split topic and would like to know your view on it. Again, very well done!
Thank you very much. The editing in particular for the ending was the most important part of the video for me to get right. Was an emotional wreck making it, haha.
I think the gameplay is excellent. The story I go back and forth on depending on what side of the bed I get out of in the morning. Absolutely see why it can be considered a masterpiece and also see what it is a mess. Would still play a Part III though.
@@AdamMcDermott I have to agree that the gameplay was pretty damn good. I think I also go a back and forth a bit but I tend to lie more towards the good side of the story. I think over time people will really come to appreciate it. Anyways, great video and keep it up man!
Nice Futurama boxset in the background!
Thanks. A show near and dear to my heart.
:O the god has uploaded
You are too kind. Cheers!
Adam, this was a brilliant video, so well thought out with not only the storyline but also your platinum journey! It gave me all the feels in the end. Class work mate!
Thank you very much. I'm quite proud of this episode.
@@AdamMcDermott so you should be, it’s fantastic 👏👏👏
I honestly can’t wait to watch this, I personally didn’t like the story, but the Gameplay looked really good and fun, so i’m happy to watch that. Good Luck Adam!
Edit: Are you going to try Grounded in a different video?
The story is not to everyone's liking, which is fine. But yeah, the gameplay is brilliant!
Imo the story is something you have to experience as a player. So much of the story relies on your experience in gameplay.
Travis Cue yeah, but I think the story could’ve been better, so people who can’t afford it. Can still enjoy the story
@@LtGhost-tb3kq but that's what movies are for haha like watching Halo as a back seat gamer would be the same, a crap story/experience if you didn't play it yourself.
I'd suggest trying it out for yourself once it goes down in price. I spent hours in the combat scenario selection after my 2 playthoughs, the gameplay alone is worth checking it out.
Travis Cue As I said, I think the games good Gameplay wise. But the story, *in my opinion* isn’t good
Adam you are truly one of the best content creators I’ve ever watched your compassion and committed to go above and beyond in every video you make is truly outstanding and I believe you are on a great path, keep up the great work and continue to inspire people around you
Thank you for saying such kind words. I really appreciate. These videos are primarily a labour of love but so worth it in the end :)
"Go ... just take him"
She's talking about Joel 😭
Uhh no she’s talking about lev... wdym?
@@phoebechandler8932 it's called "subtext"
@@lavishlyDecorated Yh I guess you could say she saying that to let Joel go but she’s explicitly talking about lev in this scenario so there’s no point in trying to find hidden meanings because the world has already taken Joel from her anyways
@@phoebechandler8932 I can't make you understand the subtext
@@lavishlyDecorated Yh u can I’m open to the idea of it I just need some explaining of why you interpreted it that way and I’ll agree if I think it’s a valid interpretation
I rewatched your first platinum, and it inspired me to get one for the first last of us as well, although those multiplayer trophies are a pain in the ass, I love your videos! Never stop doing what you’re doing cause you truly inspire ppl!
I'm honoured I inspired you to platinum the first game. Yeah, those mp trophies are a real grind.
Thanks. Don't worry, I'll be making videos for a long time to come.
Look at that like ratio
Love to see it
Thank you for making a grown man cry again like a baby..this game❤️
Haha, sorry about making you cry :)
I'll be honest, I disliked this game... All because of the story and the characters... I had platinumed it within the month of June... But can't lie, happy to see that this video is now out...
Nothing wrong with disliking the game. Pretty big compliment that you are still happy about the video. Cheers!
I actually teared up at the end of this, you fucker.
Great video, mate. Cheers!
Got you! I was an emotional wreck putting that ending together. Couldn't even see the timeline with my eyes all watered up at points. Editing by feel.
Cheers!
Haven't seen the video yet, came here to give love and support. I'll watch it later on tonight with a drink and a snack. Hope you're doing well Adam and I hope you know a Platinum Journey 'Bonus' episode is now on the table ;)
I love to hear that someone will save my video later and watch it with a drink and a snack. I do the same to series I watch.
Yes indeed. A Bonus Episode is certainly going to happen either next year of the following one.
Been waiting for this Adam mate. Awesome stuff. You are the one that actually inspired me to plat the last of us part 1. I got every trophy except the multiplayer waaaaayyy back in 2014 on the PS4 version, and more or less just resigned myself that I'd never have the plat. It's been a thorn in my side for 7 years, I'm a bit of a trophy hunter, I have over 3000 trophies and 52 plats, and the fact that I didn't ever plat part 1 bugged the shite outta me, as I've put thousands of hours into it over the years. Then I saw your platinum journey on it and I thought... This dude has put himself through it, I've already got all the single player stuff, surely I can give it a shot.... A week later, 160 odd matches of multiplayer, (I'm not a multiplayer guy at all) I finally did it. Pure elation upon seeing that pop. Sorry for the long post mate but I love discussing this kinda stuff with fellow gamers. Thanks for reading the whole thing if you have and congrats on the plat!
I'm honoured I inspired you. The mp is a real grind. Congrats on going back and doing it. Must have been much harder playing with all the pros now. I salute you.
Incredible video as always Adam.
I think you raise some really valid points in this and your previous TLOU2 video. For me playing through this game made me feel more emotion than any game ever has before. It was hard, uncomfortable, brutal, heartbreaking but it was also comforting, hopeful and warm in places too. No matter how bleak things seem there’s always a chance to turn things around. To quote Joel “No matter what, you keep finding something to fight for.”
I loved Part 2 so much it inspired me to go back and platinum The Last of Us Remastered which I did a few weeks ago. It was actually while trying to work out how to approach the multiplayer trophies I stumbled on your Platinum Journey video and that’s how I discovered your channel.
Looking forward to the next video 🍻
Thanks!
Yeah, really emotional game that covers a wide spectrum.
Congrats on going back and platinuming Part I. Welcome to the channel :)
Still need to play this.
Love re-watching your content buddy
I'm honoured you re-watch my videos.
Another great episode man. Knowing my own experience and seeing several other people go through similar journeys, I think the designers were well aware of how the journey would affect people and knew it would be a thin tightrope to walk in terms of emotionally guiding people. However, I think it was worth that risk and my own uneasiness at certain points to deliver a game story unlike any other I've ever played.I finished it two months ago and still think about it.
Thanks. Yeah, they were certainly walking a tightrope. I still think about the game too even after finishing twice.
My actual favourite gaming Channel! I always look forward to Adams platinum journeys!
I'm honoured to be your favourite. Cheers!
well done sir, you can tell this video was a labor of love. Bravo.
Thanks. Yes, indeed a labour of love :)
Finally someone mentions the movie night!!!! It gave away the last scene, in a way, right at the beginning
Really cool spotting that on a second playthrough. Great little detail.
