Mark Schlereth and Mike Evans breakdown the West Divisions of the both conferences. Can both the Chiefs and the 49ers keep a hold of their top spots? - Спорт
KC's continuity in the front office, coaching staff, and player personnel has been their most underrated advantage. New players - be it draft picks or free agents - get acclimated faster and develop faster because standards and expectations are a daily part of the culture. A lot of great teams have had it over the years, but having Pro Bowl or All-Pro performers at maybe half of the position groups - most of them developed in-house - is what sustains KC. It helps them win close games in pressure situations, and it prevents extended periods of lackluster play.
It's not just that. I think it's also that Clark Hunt really wants the team to succeed, and isn't afraid to throw money at every aspect of winning that's not bound by the salary cap. I think the number of coaches, assistants, area scouts and whatnot, really shot up after Clark took over. I think they also started handing out more recognition, rewards, and promotions to their best scouts.
I think they have a thriving meritocracy at all or most levels of the organization, and it's extremely well-run.
Dave Merritt is the best defensive position coach in the NFL and nobody hired him. Including S.F. Their loss.
I just looked at the roster, and KC has a Pro Bowler or All-Pro at every level (OL, DL, LB, CB/S, QB) except Running Back and Wide Receiver. But if you want to count Andy Reid TE's as a part of the receiver group - which they are - then Kelce would qualify there. Just a lot of dudes on the field that know what they're doing.
@@JetForceFiveid argue that Pacheco would be a Pro Bowler if given more than 200 carries and a handful of catches
Just look at the difference between the 49ers and the Chiefs in overtime.... Many of the players didn't know the rules, they took the ball first they were not prepared for it the way the Chiefs were. The Chiefs bench was shocked they wanted the ball first all the players said they had gone over the rules many times as early as training camp! The Chiefs were coached and prepared so much better than the 49ers!!!
It's an easy detail to overlook. They won't overlook it, again.
The Chiefs are 4 and 0 VS the 49er's the Last 4 games, Including a 20 pt win within the last 2 yrs.
@@tonydisibio4236 This is my argument with 9ers fans who blame the refs for not making calls, player injuries and etc. 9ers had 10 point+ lead in the 2nd half and 4th qt in 2 of the games which were the biggest: the SB. I end em by saying if the Chiefs beat them wk 9; Mahomes is 5-0 vs SF and at some point u have to admit the Chiefs are the better team.
This will be the deepest and most talented team KC has had since 2020.
If not for incompetent WR's this year KC would have walked away with the season. People don't realize that KC is 4 guys deep (starting quality) at both CB and safety. They don't realize that the young LB taking Gay's place is a better overall player than Gay was. They don't realize the depth KC added at O line this offseason.
Sneed was the best bump n run corner in the league but KC will be just fine there. KC's D should actually be better this year if they don't suffer a number of serious season ending injuries. The offense will obviously be better with Hollywood and Worthy instead of Watson and Toney. Last year was the year to knock KC off. It sure won't be the next two years.
4 straight SB victories. They'll be the first and the last to do it...
Amen to that 👏👏👏

Radio Mark, is my favorite person talking about sports at 6am. I am not a broncos fan but I tune in every morning to hear Mark make fun of girly man. As I go do man work…
Thank you
He kept a straight face when he said Kittle is the best TE in the league. That was very impressive because I'm imagining most people found that hilarious. Kittle gave Kelce a run for his money for about 2 seasons and hasn't been close the last few seasons. Look at their post season stats and tell me Kittle is even in the same league as kelce.
Kittle is a COMPLETE tight end that does everything a tight end is supposed to do at an elite level. In this way, yes, he's a better tight end than Kelce.
@@BeingButterfly He's a better blocker and that's it but he's nowhere near the level of Kelce at either route running or pass catching so being a COMPLETE tight end hasn't really done him much good. I'm sure he'd rather block a little less but catch a few more passes in the SB and maybe finally earn a ring. Anyone with half an ounce of sense would happily sacrifice some of Kittle's blocking ability and get more from him in the passing game because tight ends who can block are nowhere near as useful as they used to be.
Hey Mark, how you feel about Mahomes is exactly how we all felt about John Elway when he played.
I get it!
Yup. And watching Stinky put on a clinic in every meeting was also demoralizing. I could appreciate the excellence of that offensive line in Elway's last few seasons. Elway got them to the Super Bowl on multiple occasions, but there towards the end, he was more of a game manager, who was mainly there to throw them out of trouble on 3rd and 8, which didn't happen a whole lot, but when it did, Elway was clutch.
That said, I think Elway was still one of the toughest, strongest, and most elusive QBs in the league his whole career. After that group (including Schlereth) retired, Shanahan seemed to forget the secret to his success, chasing after skill players instead of rebuilding that line, first.
Great show as always guys. Great chemistry, perspective, and pulse. Thumbs up.
Much appreciated!
@StinkinTruthPodcast Would you ever consider coaching for Denver? Why or why not? Have you ever been asked to be an O-line contributor?
Best dam sports talk show in the country. Nice work on the division analysis. You two really work great together. I'll keep watching.
Thank you
2:49 The Chiefs.
Awesome podcast Mark was one my favorite players
Glad you enjoyed!
The Chief's prepare great for games especially in the playoffs and superbowl games they practice every situation #3PEAT
In the future we will be looking back upon the NFL and wondering why Burrow, Jackson, Allen and many other qb's didn't win more championships and the answer will be Mahomes and Reid. Just like why Big Ben, Peyton Manning, Rivers and others didn't win more championships: Brady and Belichick. They went up against the best and couldn't do it. There is no shame in this, just sorrow.
LOL cute story. In reality only reason CHiefs won last year was because the Ravens gifted them the game with the worst gameplan in history. The front office acquired Derrick Henry so that never happens again. The Ravens are going to stop the Chiefs 3-peat and start one of their own as Derrick Henry becomes the GOAT. There isn't a single defense in the NFL that is built to stop the combo of speed and power of Henry while also containing Lamar on the perimeter and accounting for Zay Flowers in space. The full head of steam that Henry will get now in the zone read with 300 pound Ricard as a lead blocker, plus no hip drop tackle, the Chiefs and the rest of the NFL have no chance.
@truthbearer7891 I been hearing this for the last 6 years lmfao😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yall had the better team last year and we still whoop that rear 😂😂😂😂😂
@@charlesledbetter907right. It’s funny how every year the Chiefs only win because other teams drop the ball 😂
As if the Patriots didn’t win super bowls because teams did stupid things like not give the ball to Marshawn, or not take a sack on 3rd down in FG range in a game of which you’re up 28-3.
@truthbearer7891 😂
@@charlesledbetter907 Chiefs copium is hilarious. The last 6 years Lamar Jackson was the Ravens leading rusher. He didn’t even have a top 15 RB. let alone an all time great one. Enjoy the last 7 months of copium though
Love the show, but I have been wondering about Mark’s hat: Is it his own logo/brand?
The Chargers are going to learn the hard way. WRs don't develop in the Greg Roman offense.
Haha! That offense won’t look the same as it didn’t Baltimore
@@StinkinTruthPodcast WRs didn't develop in Roman's offense in SF, Buffalo or Baltimore. And at the end of the season, we're going to be talking about Justin Herbert needing weapons and the Greg Roman passing scheme holding him back. Its thee worst passing scheme in the league and it's why Roman's only worked for Harbaughs the past dozen years, outside of Rex (Who fired him). Both Harbaughs are basically Bo Schembechler disciples in their philosophies toward the passing game.
Trust me they will all learn the hard way. Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins without Lamar, Greg Roman without Lamar. They are in for a rude awakening. ALl these ppl who think Herbert is a better QB than Lamar, good luck with that. The Ravens offense is going to be historically great this year, Chargers will be lucky to be top 10.
How is Alt going to fare against Crosby and Wilkins in week 1 LVR @ LAC?
@ stinkintruthpodcast Hey Stink, How would you grade Zach Strief's performance as O-line coach, and would you ever consider taking on such a role?
Schlereth still built like he can play. Guys a tank.
Thank you I’m freaking yoked.
I have no idea what to feel about Seattle. QB good not great. Coach unproven, I mean D should improve. Cautious optimism? Broncos should be better cuz Payton dosent resent his qb’s existence. Eating the big cap hit this year, it feels like a freebie.
I’m not sure
With no hesitation Stink did 12 feet is 4 yards. Math genius. Must be to early on the radio for that to come out.
Haha
Just think trent Williams would of had 2 SB rings right now if he joined the Chiefs instead of the 49ers in 2021...
Broncos swept the chargers last year the raiders are the only in division win for the chargers last year. I love that even local analysts are picking the broncos to be last. Just going to be all that much better when they over achieve.
Gosh I hope so.
And the Broncos split with KC. What’s your point?
You really can't go by last year both the Chargers and Raiders have different coaching staffs.
Mark overestimates his own intellect LOL
Not true I know I’m not that smart but I do know how football works
Top? Mahomes said "fuck the big 3, its just big ME".
I think the seahawks will b nite and day better....plugging the middle on D is a big big deal... new ideas at coach should pay off....the niners b incredible...but Seattle seems to have addressed their weaknesses.....more lawn talk please mark.....thanks...
I hope so
You mispronounced Washington Redskins!
U put Seahawks in the playoffs in another show. Left them out this show. Be consistent. Anyone can show up and BS…
What HELD the 49ers back? Well if we're speaking literally, mainly the Chiefs' offensive line.
But the real answer is William "Bill" Roscoe Vinovich III.
Haha
Nobody needed to hold that OLine. Bosa was crashing down and giving up the edge on every play.
@@marks984 Yeah, the Chiefs' o-line isn't doing it for any actual gain, they are just bored by playing in the confines of the rules.
@@marks984 Oh and maybe pass rushers wouldn't try to get as much depth if the Chiefs didn't have their tackles lined up too deep (illegal formation) on a good 30-40% of passing downs.
To call Aaron Donald the best football player is laughable.
You don't know ball
Whos better?
They really need to bring back the "visible" dislike button.
I’m sure you could block him! Clown

Pronounced WHO-FUNG-A
Thank you
We all Know the Reason's Why, It's Who is willing to RIDE or DIE in the 4th Qtr ? And of Coarse WHO Ultimately Can.
Sean Peyton puts out a bounty on Mahomes and the league eats !!!
Literally what it’s going to take for the Broncos to be relevant. A Mahomes injury.
Super Bowl hangovers are still a real thing. There are long odds that either the Chiefs or 49ers will get back to the next Super Bowl. Nobody has done a three peat and for good reason. My bet is the Chiefs won’t either. Niners will likely struggle to win their division. That’s what history suggests.
The 49ers win the next TWO Super Bowls.
Sleeping on the seahawks... the reasoning makes sense though... in my opinion pete carroll had become too loose with the team, it wasn't playing with discipline and structure... and it showed per usual in penalties and how awful our defense was at assignments and tackling, dk acting out, etc.
Macdonald seems like he loves harnessing the uniqueness of players, but team first all the way, and way more structured and intuitive on modern teaching methodology. Obviously anything could happen but I feel like this team has the talent to be a real threat... 9 win team the last 2 seasons despite awful coaching. I believe one of the reasons pete was let go was because he wasn't willing to let go of the people below him that were clearly not getting the job done at all.
As mark highlighted our tackles got injured, OL staying healthy is a MUST, but if it does, seahawks could be very good.
All You Seachicken fans say the same thing every year ever since Wilson was traded. You guys are so delusional and keep thinking Smith is going to put you over the top. You are at best a 8-9 win team this year. Mediocre!
@@gperezniners4949 You obviously don't understand football if you think geno is the problem lol.
@@teamdinosaurs999 Yeah he is the problem. He SUCKS!! Once Bosa goes after him he will fold like a lawn chair. Glorified back up QB
😂
@@teamdinosaurs999 Seahawks fans blamed Russ for everything when he left but all of a sudden want to have nuance for Geno.
5:35.....Fun stat: Shanahan is 1-31 when trailing by 10pts in the 4th qt. Bang bang loser gang. #ChiefsKingdom #back2back
I mean, that fits a narrative if you're looking for it. But, everyone ignores the other side of the coin and how well Kyle does with leads(his offense design). Ppl focus on a handful of games to ignore this, but he can't help shit out of his control nor player's individually choking(Garappollo).
Ouch
To say that patrick mahomes is not the best football player is insane lol
