I rarely used my Home, but it was a nice option to have. Many Quest owners use their headset primarily for PCVR. It is not entirely abandoned, with recent features like local dimming and an HVEC toggle being added (debug tool), but I would really like to see more effort on this front. A lot of the Quest Pro features are negated through PCVR. Simple hand tracking. I want it. DFR. Etc etc.
This would be a great poll. I just sometimes play PCVR, mostly it’s headset games

this is true for me, oculus home was pretty cool place to chill but i primarily us virtual desktop as it ran better then the quest link in my opinion so i only loaded in to it a couple of time. is does suck for those who did use it
I never use quest home for pcvr I just use virtual desktop and steam vr edit also wireless quest home is atrocious and gives me panic attacks because of the weird noises and glitches
If home was forced on launch, I could kind of understand this choice. It takes up a lot of resources, and some people, like myself, need all the extra help they can get. But you can disable it from settings, meaning it's entirely optional. I think meta's problem is that they focus on things they THINK we want, instead of actually listening to feedback from the community.
It looks exactly like that, they are doing random dumb moves for idk what reason and we are here like "i can do it better" or "why the hell would you remove the home of someone? Are you angry because i had sex one in it?"
i must be a dumbass, i didnt realize it was SO customizable. I noticed there were furniture and stuff, but I never dove deep in it. Seeing what other people did is so cute! Wish I decorated mine more! But also, guess Im glad I didnt.
lol same... I feel like I want to use it more now after it's gone... maybe they should make a separate app that you can download and lunch like any other game ... not installed by diffault and runs everytime you connect to your PC

Pretty sure the reason they removed Oculus Home is because everything was free, in a few months or a year they'll probably release a new version where all the furniture costs money.
thats the problem with companies like facebook, there to fucken greedy, we need an open source headset like the quest 2, or maybe there is a hack somewhere to get the home feature back?

What confuses me is that the guardian tracking on mine has gotten progressively worse. I now have to redo my guardian almost ever time I go to play because it has shifted as much as a foot, and it is often shaky and struggles to track because of all the updates trying to download

I think it's a problem with the way it recognizes locations and stores the data, there is a way to reset the garden memory, it might just be freaking out that it is recognizing the location in multiple ways, if cleaning your lenses and checking them for scratches doesn't work, try what the other guy said and factory reset it. It's worked for me a few times, also it could be that it's summer and the amount of light in the room is changing. Blackout curtains on large windows is recommended.
my quest doesn't even remember my guardian, and it doesn't effect any of the other accounts on it. Just mine.
My first memory with my CV1 was shooting those target things with the lazer gun. It's gone, all gone.

I have had the white void home for like 4 months after I reinstalled windows the fact this ain’t a bug makes me pissed off and I hope that someone repacks this as exe letting you run quest home as a app
it’s really just Meta cutting back on everything possible. They have some rather large fines to pay as they are learning the EU doesn’t mess around with users’ privacy

I haven't commented on this yet, but I can see you are feeling this hit like I am. The home was really awesome and old VR heads spent many hours in there. You could sculpt in Medium and import your creations, import art, really customizable. I went to homes that were art museums and they had art VR art shows. You could use portals to go to other peoples houses with your friends, like walking around the neighborhood virtually. I had a Halloween themed home with models of monsters I made like a wax museum. I would have at least took some vids of my home before it was deleted. I'm guessing they had to save much of our homes on their servers or something? Not sure why they would just wipe them all out.

I spent a lot of time in and really enjoyed customizing my home on the cv1, very sad to see it go for no reason:(. ever since meta bought out oculus they've just been making soulless decisions and populating every vr game with 7 year olds.

Had no idea of the home wipe. Been using the white void for a few years. Only briefly used home, but did customise it quite a fair bit whilst I was.
Been using the quest 2 for pcvr for a little over a year and I had no clue you could change the oculus home to not be a white void

People really be getting a free handout for anything nowadays off crowd funding. But if it makes yourself feel better then go ahead and donate I guess..
As someone who literally just got into VR a couple days ago and got a quest pro I’m so disappointed the home feature was removed. I was really looking forward to customizing my room with all kinds of cool unique things. Why take away something good that works? 😢
Be vocal about it. Big companies suck at listening to customers, but if enough people complain they'll get the idea
Or, alternatively, sell your Pro while it still has value and get something like the Pico 4 instead and wash your hands of Meta entirely
I am not in VR so much nowadays after I got longtime covid or something that affected my brain and energy, but when I started up VR and that home I did feel home and things were organized so I should remember and get a push to do things, it that is gone it will be harder for me to get into VR again, just dead menues and unpersonalized standing areas while navigate menus will not trigger me to do anything or remember what I used to do. I had made some own custom 3D objects, but what I loved most was a thing that looked like a gaming console with all the titles I could play and some rewards from those games.

I am also fucked up about this. I I started working on a home environment since the Oculus rift. I had spent years working on it with tons of stuff that was really hard to get. While I was playing some games on Steam vr, the update game, so I waited for it to Finnish updating and then went back to my games. After collecting a few achievements, I went back to my home environment. AND EVERYTHING WAS FUCKING GONE. I was so mad and sad that I cried for 2 hours straight. Why meta
I almost never used the Oculus Home environment, but now that it's gone I wish I had spent more time in it as it seemed really nice. It just goes to show that Meta doesn't give a crap about PCVR by continually releasing updates that make the experience worse for the user because buying games on Steam doesn't make Zuck the big bucks.
I dont want Zucks lips anywhere near my Quest.
Honestly I've been seeing the white void even connected to PCVR with my Quest 2. If I know where to find Oculus Home, I wish I had a chance to decorate it a bit. I hope people's Home come back!
I don't use home at all, I have issues with starting programs from this program, so I just start steam and my app of choice from my PC and put on my headset once it loads and skip the home, though it does sound like a nice feature
I literally thought my VR was infinitely loading as I was just standing in a white void wondering where my Home was
I never even had the option for home. Just white void since I started pcvr.
I jsut got my Q2 used a few months ago. no idea homes existed. I've always just gone into the white void. Glad I didn't know they existed now. lol
Yeah I got my first PC for VR October 2022. I downloaded the Oculus PC software but “home” never loaded in. I’ve done all the troubleshooting, and even contacted Oculus support, to no avail. It’s only ever been just a bleak white void of nothing and a dash. Good news is home is using ~10gb hard drive space, so it’s in there somewhere?
I only really used my home as a fun intuitive launcher for oculus games using the cartridges back when I had the cv1
In my opinion META/Oculus will never die. For an example all the kids on Gorilla tag, they've spent lots of money and have most likely bought some old items from the flashback sales and 85% of the time their accounts are Oculus/META accounts which means they can't switch to another VR headset without loosing EVERYTHING. (Excuse any of my grammar mistakes as English is not my first language)
Shit im ready to sell mine and get a ps5 or something 😂 im start to realize it was a waste of money ,ain’t enough games on the store, it’s only a handful of good games unless you have a gaming pc other than that it really aint that good as a gaming console

I personally never used the oculus home and actually disabled it but I do feel for those who did use it. Meta had NO reason to remove them and I believe its because they knew it was way better than the quest homes. I bet they’ll try to kind of transform the quest homes into the oculus homes and try to play it off like ‘new and innovative features’
At this point, I think we can get a good lawyer and have a full refund on the Quest 2 since they have removed so much from it. It's no longer the product it was at purchase.
Or you need to pay double, because it has improved immensely since launch.

It's incredibly poor and deserves more attention. Never used it myself, but looking at what was lost it's impossible to understand why Meta did this so callously.
My pc app never opened up the home for the past 2 years, I knew it was a thing but I didn’t know it was supposed to load up on default

i have never used the oculus home it has always been a white void when i have used my quest 2 on pc
I never even knew you could do this, well use to be able to do this lol i always been looking at that white void....
It’s now all of a sudden so hard to install mods, when I go to blade and sorcery the mod menu on the game will not show no matter how many times I reset my vr, when I go to instal mods like I used to for bonelab the menu to show my downloads just dosent appear. At all.
My Rift S doesn’t load the Oculus Home anymore and doesn’t allow me to do anything with my oculus friends. How am I able to join my friends in games or a party? My home hasn’t been able to load for years
I'm going to miss my space station oculus home. I had things slipping off the edge of platform and 'floating' away with a few things just balanced as if about to slip off. A few things were floating around to give a low gravity/malfunctioning gravity control. /sigh
Ive only owned a meta quest 2, Ive had it since Christmas. So I have no idea what oculus home was like, but it seemed so cool. Having virtual trophies instead of achievements and such.
But I know how that feels. I've played rec room for awhile customizing my dorm, at least a year or so. And if I came back to rec room one day and saw it was blank. I'd be devastated. So I know how you oculus home people feel.

Another example for virtual items. you own NOTHING, it all can be take away from one moment to another. I already miss my oculus home... It was such a nice feature.
i love how meta is oulling planned obsolescence on a product they are still updating. my quest is 2 years old and it lags really bad on rec room, and the fps is cut into a third while recording. i'm glad i have a vr ready pc, otherwise this thing would have been reduced to a wearable supreme brick v2
Whatever update it was PC VR was Unplayable on my quest 2. Any time I booted up Virtual desktop, Airlink, Or wired I had horrible lag/stutter spikes. I finally factory data reset my headset to remove whatever it was and now it's back to working without issue. Anyone have any similar issues?
I forgot I disabled Home for years and forgot about it, and when everyone is talking about this, I became that eyebrow meme saying "You guys had virtual Home?"

Honestly, I probably only tried the Quest Home feature when I first booted up the headset about two years ago and I've never touched it since. I purely use the headset to play games, especially SteamVR games
When i bought The Oculus 2 i played it to have fun but now one of my favorite games are gone and i custom inviorment i send so much time on is also gone i really hope that the custom inviorment comes back i miss it so much
I know this may be a stupid question but will you be able to play quest 2 games on quest 3 or will quest 3 only be able to play quest 3 exclusives.

I was so excited to build my own home environment when i got a pc, well that sucks
i swear ever since the recent updates all i have to do is move the controllers too fast and they will disconnect from the headset, heck just softly tapping them together gets the same result!
My headset has been soooo shit recently to the point where I crash when I open more than 5 vr chat avis..
Home Env is the first thing i switch off when i start using link :). Now i waiting to possibility to switch off that bloody arms...
for some reason my VR doesnt turn off normally like the shut off thing instead it bugs and crashes when its dead and theres a weird heatmark noise too

Sad how the home thing is just... GONE. But there is an alternative, it is steam vr. It is compatible with oculus games too. It's almost the exact same thing.
Except the performance loss when translating API calls from OpenVR to Oculus is *huge* if you have a mid range PC. (example: my i5-9300HF and laptop GTX 1050)

I use my meta homie a lot that’s wild how many people don’t lol. We will just sit and chill in the home talk and (smoke or drink as adults) before heading into games.

I never got to see or make a oculus home and I got my quest in 2021
At least we still have steam home but I liked out amazing the rift homes were. The quest 3 has to be ground breaking cause oculus is amazing but I prefer pc vr over standalone.

I got the Rift, upgraded to the Rift S, got Quest 2
Rift S is my favorite
But I had to use my older brother's PC
So whenever I used the VR I had limited time
So I never really got into Oculus home
But it is frustrating to know that PCVR features for older headsets are going out the window
