  • In September 2022, we showed computer renderings of how we envision System 03; since last year, it's reality. Subscribe to our UA-cam channel to stay updated: bit.ly/371k8sN
System 03 is currently deployed in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch - it is around 2.5 kilometers (1.4 miles) in length and capable of cleaning an area of ocean equivalent to a football field every five seconds.

Here is a better idea,,,,,, plastic bottles and containers should be unified amongst all producers and made to last! so they can be reused multiple times before being recycled which is similar to the system we had with glass milk bottles,,,, .. if our plastics have a reuse value it can be cheaper to reclaim them than to make new ones.....if we continue to develop such solutions eventually there will be more motivation to not take responsibility just to justify the existence of such companies permanently,,, You'll be fishing litter out of oceans for the remainder of human history.....??? There's the equivalent of an entire continent, floating out there in the middle of the Pacific, called the Pacific garbage patch, but then there's even more, slightly smaller garbage "rafts" all around the world: we have garbage rafts in the english channel, and in the north sea... the netherlands are even devising a plan to create a fixed filtering station thqt'll work as the tides come in and out... in france, there's the "péniches filtreuses" that have started scouring the waterways to avoid plastics even getting into the sea in the first place...
      It's a global effort!

What's funny is that the imperfections of the way the cloth like structure floats in water is genuinely very difficult to simulate in CGI
So it's actually one of the most astonishingly honest CG renderings of an upcoming project I have ever seen. The rendering looks more orderly and perfect not because they are trying to deceive you (as is VERY often the case with things like this), but because modern simulation technology isn't good enough to simulate exactly how it would behave in real life. Not for objects of that scale.
This is peak honesty. They designed the system to work, and the animated it to the best of their ability, and they showed you exactly that, not some goofy animation of some concept which is fundamentally incompatible with reality like those fuckers which promise overhead buses on 2 wheels riding above traffic, and the entire steel structure of the bus bends like a noodle around a curve XD.
