System 03: Vision vs Reality
Вставка

- In September 2022, we showed computer renderings of how we envision System 03; since last year, it's reality. Subscribe to our UA-cam channel to stay updated: bit.ly/371k8sN
System 03 is currently deployed in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch - it is around 2.5 kilometers (1.4 miles) in length and capable of cleaning an area of ocean equivalent to a football field every five seconds.

Thank you for everything you guys do, this is the type of projects world governments should be funding, not wars.
Slava Ukraini
Это точно !
Agree!
I mean, we already kinda have such funding, but UN is more about bureaucracy and they focus more about feeding people.
💯 percent true
POV: When a nonprofit organization is putting in more work than the government for environmental sustainability.
Shows how serious the government elites are about our environment while they're still flying in their private jets, and that's just the tip of their lavish lifestyles!✌️
Ocean Cleanup’s a nonprofit, but the majority of their funding and support comes from Maersk - owners of the largest shipping fleet in the world. Leaves the question open of how much greenwashing is acceptable to fund nonprofit activities.
@@sam1812sealI have never heard about Maersk funding it so is it really greenwashing?
And who the fuck cares if it benefits a company reputation the job is being done or not? Also how much have you donated?
I can tel you never leave Twitter cause you are searchintg for made up problems in people solving actual problems. Get a job
@@sam1812seal I found the coca cola coop much harder to swallow
Well duh, ain't no airport in the ocean to wish they could fly with their private jets go give speaches thought and prayers
One of the few companies that actually delivers what they promise. Keep up the good work team ocean clean up. History will remember this great achievement favorably!
They are not a company but an NGO and they are funded by Maersk, CocaCola and Royal DSM (DSM-Firmenich)
Actual ppl. Making actual changes. Hats off to u all.
8.3 million tons are discarded in the sea yearly. They would need 2300 ships getting rid of 10 tons daily, if they wanted to compensated that. I totally love the effort but... i have no idea if that is enough. I am still donating a high amount monthly but.. you know.. i probably is to late.
The people who need to make changes are the third world occupants dumping this shit in the ocean.
@@Sakrosankt-Bierstubeit’s like taking a handful of show out of an avalanche. And there’s the plastic that’s not just in the top 10 feet of water.
@@Sakrosankt-Bierstube i agree, and i think the money would be better spent stopping the plastic from being used in the first place.
@@ika32 doesn't work, there aren't other materials like plastic that can be refined and be as flexible as it can (economy of scale) for now, all the green / environmental projects are just part of money laundry scam funded by the government. the first one is FED btw.
I love seeing the rust stains on the side of the actual, real live cleanup vessel. Cleaning up in reality is better than a rendering any day.
That means she is being used, doing good work. 😊
I was just imagining getting on the bosun’s chair and touching up the paintwork 😄
Seemingly the only difference between the rendering and the reality is the grunge that comes with the real world
One of the few times the renderings actually lived up to reality. Cheers to all those involved with this!
It's amazing how the pacific garbage patch used to be a huge issue and politicians wanted your money to solve it - now someone has solved it they could not care less as they cannot make money out of it. You guys are doing great keep it up.
It hasn't been solved. The pacific garbage patch is still a huge issue. What they are doing here doesn't change much. To clean up all of it you need a lot of money. This NGO isn't working for free either.
It doesn't exist, which is why it went away in the media's eyes. Now that people can actually see that it isn't there, they can't openly lie about it as easily.
@@maythesciencebewithyou Helpful comment
@@maythesciencebewithyou True. Some ppl see this and think "thr problem has been solved" when in reality this just scrapes on the massive problem. Its amazing progess but it's so infinitely far away from the problem being "solved"
No, the politicians wanted your money because the richer you are, the freer you are. Also to buy themselves new luxury cars and also install more facial recognition cameras everywhere.
There are two youtube channels that I’m always excited to see updates for: 1) Mossy Earth and 2) The Ocean Cleanup. You guys give me hope.
If you enjoy Mossy Earth, I can also recommend Planet Wild. They are doing some amazing work as well. 🙂
I'd recommend Ocean Conservation Namibia for transparency reasons. This UA-cam channel does a excellent job spreading awareness about ocean conservation.
👍🏿
If you could handle the less formal vibe videos then i recommend Tropical Ocean Cleanup, he was so dedicated to his work he got an entire Fillipino island to start taking care of its trash instead of throwing down the water
This entire thread gives me hope. Thank you, everybody!
India, Africa and Asia.
You guys give the world hope for the seas
The fact they actually did the comparison video to DUNK on the naysayers (if there are any, I’m assuming there are, big projects like this always seem to attract them), was GENIUS!
You guys are absolutely amazing!
You folks should be getting some sort of world U.N. recognition for the work you have done cleaning up our waste!!!! Thank you!!😊
Totally agree with your comment, they should be recognised for all their work 😊
@@hazelpople1962 That's awesome the producers and consumers lack responsibility so that capitalism can develop a solution to the problem it allowed to develop ,,,, its a toxic loop of none sense....... I wonder how far that litter has travelled during its life?.. Here is a better idea,,,,,, plastic bottles and containers should be unified amongst all producers and made to last! so they can be reused multiple times before being recycled which is similar to the system we had with glass milk bottles,,,, .. if our plastics have a reuse value it can be cheaper to reclaim them than to make new ones.....if we continue to develop such solutions eventually there will be more motivation to not take responsibility just to justify the existence of such companies permanently,,, You'll be fishing litter out of oceans for the remainder of human history.....??? Proper clever you are.....KMT
"cleaning up our waste"
Not 'our' waste. 90% of ocean waste comes out of Asia. Maybe they should be paying for this.

Kinda got a little teary eyed. It’s amazing to see a success like this in the face of everyone who declared it was an insurmountable problem. I love that entire process this has been through, and that you were never afraid to pivot when new information was revealed. It’s that kind of innovation that will save our future.
So the problem is solved?
Best video I’ve seen in a very long time. Well done! From the bottom of my heart and soul, THANK YOU!!
This is amazing I’m genuinely smiling right now I remember seeing the animation years ago and waited to see this. Thank you for doing what you do
Thank you from Poland , it is very important what You do
This is great, we need to focus on the countries that are polluting the most and call for a change in government.
*companies that are producing plastic
That would be the US and China, one is a two-horse race where one party is only marginally better than the other, and the other is a one-party dictatorship. So good luck. The former does at least have charities like this one.
@@krashd It's not a moral thing. Europe is no better...just less impactful and less important.
The problem is people. Corporate executives and politicians aren't some odd offshoot of humankind. They're the DEFAULT. That's what everyone always is.
The ones doing this cleanup project, they're the odd ones out, and they won't survive. The ones praising this project? They'll just turn into conventional politicians and executives, if they get into any of those positions.
The public is the problem. The public sucks. Garbage in...garbage out.
I have no words. Thanks for everything!
This gives me hope
Wow I was just randomly checking up on this project and to see there is still work and development being done is awesome . Thank you all for making our world a better place ❤
Thank you Ocean Cleanup team.
This is beautiful. It’s sad that the damage has been caused, but I’m happy people are trying to fix it. Thank you.
The skill of the camera crew and the drone operator is amazing!
Bravo Ocean Cleanup~ Thank you!!!!!!!!!!🥰
Amazing to watch, fabulous ladies & Gents great work
Love the work y'all do. I'm gonna say think of the neustons, but at the same time, you're the only ones actually getting any work done with an issue as big and complex as this. If anything, y'all deserve all the support and more to protect our planet even better ❤️
Thank you to everyone involved for making this happen
God bless. Thank you for all your hard work!
thank you. please do not stop
This is exactly the way to do it. Show what you promised and compare that to what you actually delivered in reality.
👏👏👏
Every video blows me away with what you are achieving! Thank you
All governments of the planet should fund Ocean cleanup proportionally to their own pollution
India has left the chat.
@jonathanbohn4805 india is absolutely not the worst polluter. We, Western countries from USA, Canada and Europe are.
@@francisdebriey3609 Um, no. The worst ocean waste polluters of the world are all southern hemisphere countries. The top ten worst are The Philippines, Suriname, Trinidad, Saint Lucia, Malaysia, Guyana, Panama, Grenada, Belize and Jamaica. In fact, western countries are among the lowest in ocean waste pollution.
@@Redzwan I have checked your facts and indeed western countries are not the biggest polluters, if we consider ocean pollution ONLY.
The worst countries are (source WSJ) : China, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam & Sri Lanka

Love this!!!
When I saw Boyan's Tedx presentation in 2012 I was proud of a fellow Dutchman, now I'm proud of humanity as a whole for getting 1 step closer to getting their shit together.
Amazing to see the work put into action, every bit of plastic removed from the oceans is another small victory!

If I would be rich as hell, I would gave you 10 mil right away to continue this awesome work you guys are doing for us, most importantly, for the Planet.
wow, im happy that this is successful ❤
In this world of madness and doom, you guys are a beacon of light. Thank you for everything you're doing for this planet.
Talk about execution on a clear vision... well done Ocean Cleanup!
I was in dry dock making maersk tender ready for ocean cleanup with new paint and overhauls and an impressive engine system update from MAN that saved fuel consumption in transit by roughly a quarter. Im glad the project still is working
All the lip service from big governments about the nature of our environment, how come its non-profit organizations doing all the work and carrying the financial burden!?
Thank God for those who do this! Seeing as this is the real threat to Humans and ALL Marine Life!✌️
Keep doing what you're doing.. amazing work.
that render is absolutely mind blowing. -- but keep the hard work up guys, you're doing an incredibly important job!!!!
Fantastic work to keep our wonderful oceans and water ways free of rubbish. Keep on going and well done to you all.
Sadly, this is still just peanuts

Y'all be doing great work!!! Amazing to see it working!!! 🎉
A lot for all involved to be proud about in this video. If the early version is this good, later ones will be truly effective.
Dear Friends - If you haven’t noticed, we are the dirtiest, worst, grossest people on the planet - What.!! 😳😳
Yup, me, you, your next door neighbour and that dude down the street - We’re all fuxking this beautiful world we live in, one piece of rubbish at a time..
Just look at the mess these legends bring in every haul, we should be ashamed of ourselves! 😡😡
Thank goodness for The Ocean Cleanup project [forget funding wars, I couldn’t think of a better investment] the Ocean Cleanup team are the unsung heroes of Planet Earth who deserve a hell of a lot more recognition for cleaning up our disgusting mess.
Why doesn’t this awesome cause receive more advertising?
“KUDOS TO THE TEAM, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR AMAZING WORK” 👏👏👏
The two images are almost identical. Great work.
Those renders are actually really really good. Kudos to the team who did them.
Thank you for what you guys do!

This is so emotional. Congratulations ! You are amazing!
Absolutely incredible. The world thanks you.
What an incredible project. Thank you for all that you are doing for us 💚 🌎
We need more people doing this, actually changing the world for the better.
Every country should have this.
Even if you don't have oceans you'll likely have rivers that flow out to the ocean so you should be obligated to help.
That means the ocean is finally clean 😍👏👍 Thank you my Ocean Cleanup 🙌
No, it doesn't.
salute to you all! thank you for your service!
putting side by side comparison is actually the most genius wat to "told you so" the whole people who didn't believe what you did.

It’s great to see what was once a dream become reality like this.
Amazing work guys!
Boyan Slat for Planetary Emperor, whose with me?! Everyone on the teams doing this work you are legit angels, spending your time cleaning up others messes. A better world comes from your hands bless you all.
Its worrying how much waste is predicted and its worrying how much they are actually recovering but its amazing they are doing it
Very nice to see them doing their work
Although these are just tiny steps to a better/cleaner future. I take a moment to thank all those taking those steps.
Thank you all the team, you are heros !
Well done folks, truly impressive
Amazing. It actually works!
Jesus christ. I had no idea how much rubbish was in the ocean! Great job guys. Thank you ❤
There's the equivalent of an entire continent, floating out there in the middle of the Pacific, called the Pacific garbage patch, but then there's even more, slightly smaller garbage "rafts" all around the world: we have garbage rafts in the english channel, and in the north sea... the netherlands are even devising a plan to create a fixed filtering station thqt'll work as the tides come in and out... in france, there's the "péniches filtreuses" that have started scouring the waterways to avoid plastics even getting into the sea in the first place...
It's a global effort!
Great effort ,looks like net wasn't opening up width wise ,I think the interceptors are the game changers
This is amazing! You guys are amazing! Thank you!

Great job ! We need more people like you.
Oh, its... actually very good!
Thanks guys!
This is insane. Magnificent
Great to see. I love you guys
What's funny is that the imperfections of the way the cloth like structure floats in water is genuinely very difficult to simulate in CGI
So it's actually one of the most astonishingly honest CG renderings of an upcoming project I have ever seen. The rendering looks more orderly and perfect not because they are trying to deceive you (as is VERY often the case with things like this), but because modern simulation technology isn't good enough to simulate exactly how it would behave in real life. Not for objects of that scale.
This is peak honesty. They designed the system to work, and the animated it to the best of their ability, and they showed you exactly that, not some goofy animation of some concept which is fundamentally incompatible with reality like those fuckers which promise overhead buses on 2 wheels riding above traffic, and the entire steel structure of the bus bends like a noodle around a curve XD.
that looks fantastic!
Gives me hope for the future of humanity.
thank you for your great work.
Love it when a plan just works out.
the fact that I couldn't tell which was which even after reading the title, is something else.
Yeaaaaaaah! You guys are amazing!
Incredible videos of plastics being gathered from the ocean, great work people and all of you who collect this pollution from our seas and rivers.
