There will definitely be quite a few episodes of adjusting to just how massive this game is, and a lot to take in so I do hope you enjoy the journey of the learning curve...I am enjoying this game tremendously even though I feel like I barely progress each episode! Please be patient while I learn and improve over time, I can already see myself enjoying countless hours of this game, BG1 & 2, and a future Dark Urge replay? If there's demand. Thanks for watching your support on this series so far has left me floored, hope to see you all join me until the end
Don't sweat dude. I'm pretty sure it took me like 60-70 hours to get through Act 1 alone.... But I'm also a certified loot goblin and completionist, so... :D
Love seeing your first time play through as someone who has got 1000+ hours in the game. If you do Durge play through I loved playing a Gith Rouge who romanced Laezel. Id only say resting often is good, short rests wont help magic but long rests will but you'll get alot of companion dialogue in camp plus replenish mage spells. Without spoilers alot of new players even myself the first time, their is a point in Act 1 where you'll be advised to go one of two places in after visiting those places you'll go to Act 2. But you can visit both if you just fast travel to a waypoint, if you dont do such you miss out on amazing content for yourself and companions as the game doesnt tell you that you can visit both. Hope you keep loving the game !
This game has a world, with something to explore around every corner and as thoroughly as you search there will be things missed. So don't think of it as having to progress, have fun and go at whatever pace you wish! And for the question asked in the video. I personally am happy to watch the whole journey, looting, inventory management and all, but also get it if you need to trim down.
the fact that Larian took the time to write flavor text for all of the companions' underwear is such a wonderful thing... it's all the little details that make this game such an immersive, rich gaming experience
It's a good idea to visit camp regularly. It's this game's version of the Normandy or the camp in Origins. It's where you can develop relationships with companions. Also some story beats/cutscenes are only triggered by long resting and can potentially be missed.
in my first BG3 game I was afraid to touch the magic sigil too. as a result my monk needs to do his playthrough without Gale. I tried to be empathic and didn't 'close its eyes' but it never crossed my mind to prop it up either. what an unusual thought. this blind playthrough promises to be interesting.
The only reason Lae'zel was able to talk to Shadowheart on the nautiloid was because Shadowheart wasn't in your party yet. Any companion can talk to an NPC, but only you can talk to your companions. Loving this playthrough, by the way. You're the perfect person to play this game - and a much better player already than I was throughout my whole first run. 😂 I do not have the required outside-the-box thinking.
If Tav needs resurrection you can pilot a companion at camp and have them talk to the others. But even then, the characters all say something like “I only talk to the boss”
I feel like you're the perfect person for this game because you have that "can I do this?" curiosity that this game really rewards (or punishes you for lol). I'd be happy with no cuts but do what you want! Inventory management can get really messy because you pick up so much but you've already got a good idea about immediately sending items to whoever you think can use them... that will become more clear as you go on.
yeah, the way he says at 1:02:49 "watch this" and figures out how a skill (particular tool) would allow him to "solve a problem" in combat shows that this is the way, and it is a playthrough to watch 100%
Sneak Attack is a weird mechanic to wrap your head around for newcommers. You missed the tooltip at 1:02:11, so here: As a Rogue, Astarion's main focus should be to make Sneak Attacks every turn. To do that he NEEDS ONE OF TWO THINGS: - Either have a friend to the party within 5feet of the target - OR (and the OR is very important here) have advantage on the attack. Advantage can be from: attacking a prone enemy, attacking while hidden (which rogues can do as a bonus action) and any number of other status effects given by abilities and conditions from other characters. So if he fails to hide, due to attempting to hide within the enemy's cone of vision: use your party to synergize. Astarion was easily the biggest damage dealer for single target damage in my party for almost the entire game.
In addition, you should not have a DISADVANTAGE to make a sneak attack. On some occasions you can have both of those, maybe even more then one. For example, you get advantage twice from target being stunned and you being hidden, but you get a disadvantage for being too far away. In this instance sneak attack won't work.
Confusing that "Advantage" both refers a status imparted by certain conditions as well as a modification to the procedure for obtaining a die roll. Extra confusing that the Advantage-as-status can coexist with other statuses that negate the Advantage-as-die-throw-modifier. Extradoubleplus confusing which specific combination of statuses and die-throwing modifiers counts as Advantage for the purposes of sneak attack
@@CraigNull For you're first point I'm confused on what you mean. They are the same thing. You get advantage from many different things, it just means you can roll 2 dice and take the highest. This applies in combat (enemy is focused on someone else), and in dialogue (you have lot's of experience in whatever subject). Certain conditions can give you advantage at things, and that advantage let's you roll twice... they are the same thing.
I'm sure it's long since moot for your question but I'll weigh in still in case you do other blind playthroughs. I watch long let's play videos like this while I work so every second does not have to be 100% engaging. Secondly, a big part of why your videos in particular are fascinating to me is that I am loving watching you figure out the game, the interface, etc. It's not the main reason I'm watching but it's a super cool opportunity to learn some things about game design and UI design. So my preference is show it all, but that's me! I'm sure whatever you land on will be great. All the best to you, thanks for the videos!
For BG3, I'd personally like to see basically everything outside of the basic inventory shuffling that we all end up having to do at some point. And even then, some of that is fine to show imo, since what you carry with you matters much more pound for pound in a game like this. Other than that, maybe just if you revisit old places and nothing noteworthy happens.
it's also wild how simply having an item in your inventory can really gimp your character.... I'm currently on a durge resist playthrough, and I forgot I had the item that gives you the Steeped in Bliss buff... great for combat, not so great when you're trying to resist the urge to murder someone very near and dear to you while they're sleeping... yeah, I save scummed for a good 20 minutes rofl but that person survived the night. :)
@@zarasha8220 oh god, i had that moment on blind durge honor mode playthrough. Somehow, everyone survived. Used at least 3 inspirations. That was the scariest part of honor mod run, besides rejecting bhaal. For a moment i though it was completely over
The game basically encourages you to long rest at camp after every sizeable combat encounter. Story events are really common and usually only one can happen per night
Rogues are fairly strong because they can use "hide" as a bonus action. That way, you can find a dark spot in a room by using "shift" and use your "stealth attack" action to deal massive amounts of damage. Can't wait for more episodes ❤
As other's have already commented, don't be afraid to long rest often! You get a lot of important story and companion details from doing so. Also, no need to edit anything out. I'm a sucker for all the details.
3 hours? Now that's a proper length for a BG3 playthrough video. Honestly, it is kind of matching normal length a play session for BG3: some inventory management, some thinking about class/multiclassing progression, builds, exploration, dialogue and... 2-3 hours done. The game is very deliberately slow. I strongly doubt anyone who has really played the game minds how YOU play the game, because this is the game to be played how you usually play games (if it makes any sense, lol). No one who played BG3 minds reading all the contextual books, notes, plaques, journals and so on. People literally spent 150-200h on their first playthrough, so this is the crowd who absolutely matches the play style. So refreshing to see a player actually reading all the stuff and keywords. You'll get it faster and better than most of the new players because of it. This is absolutely the way. 1:05:28 Tutorial by gameplay ;) 2:22:00 Answering actual question. Personally, since the game is just running around/looting/exploring/and so on, it is all good. It is a huge part of the game, especially exploration. If you fail on the trap and blow up and party dies because of your looting habits - let's see it. I would say mundane inventory management and adding to wares isn't that interesting, just when you clean up space, you know. But otherwise, even your decision-making for equipment for the party is interesting. Tim Downie for Gale. It is his first role in any game. Most of them are British theatre actors, some have experience with TV shows and movies, and only some with other games. Since most of cinematic and storytelling is in Larian's dedicated studios in Dublin Ireland, and also in Guilford England most of the actors are from GB.
@@colindavey4075 It was a really funny moment. He asked her "why are you still here" (-10 approval) and his reaction was basically that surely we can fix this so he asked it again and got another -10 approval 😂
I loved watching the revelation of you figuring out that you can throw potions to use them on others. I am looking forward to the revelation when you realize jumping is limited by movement!
Tidying up the inventory and shopping you could edit out but leave in all the exploring and meandering, it gives you a opportunity to chat about random thoughts inbetween specific things and events.
As somebody who skips reading 90% of the books… Watching this play, there has completely changed my mind. I owe an apology to Larian… time for another play through
To answer your question, this is the kind of game where everything is interesting including the looting. I want to see it all. Watching what you think of the items you find, deciding whether or not to equip them on characters, seeing how your brain works is all entertaining. I don't want to miss anything. So please don't cut anything out
I love the way you talk to the characters while making them do things and how you read the Sea Shanty poem. It makes your playthrough really engaging, and I’m so happy to have someone to watch who spends a lot of time on things and plays on their own.
You know the pack of gnolls in act 1? The pack before the pack with the leader. I tried putting a smokepowder barrel on top of a wheelbarrow and then pushing it down so it would hit them and explode... My day was ruined because I couldn't and the situation clearly demanded it with the little hill and a wheelbarrow on top of it. Game is still great but maaaaan I wish I could do that
Eh. You can't even * MILD SPOILER* kill everyone in Baldur's Gate. Civilians just keep respawning. I can name a dozen things you can't do lol. And that's why you said "nearly always" yaddi yadda
POTENTIAL SPOILERS. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The first time I tried consuming a tadpole, I tried to do it secretly, away from my party lest they know I was drawn to its power. Cuts to. A cut scene of me holding the tadpole out to inspect while the party gathers round to warn me of the dangers. I felt like "c'mon Larian, you couldn't predict that!?" But the game is hands down simply amazing and the things you can do are almost limitless, but with some inevitable exceptions.
Love to see mapo oblivious of how he saved his on life. When landed that nat 1 disarming the trap he triggered but the game started the turn base mode so he have time to react before the trap activates, the button he pressed deactivated the trapped even without having a clue of what he was doing.
This is the first game I am watching on this channel and I decided to stick around exactly because of the time you invest. I am very impressed how much you have been reading and investigating. I can't stand people rushing through any game, but on this game, it's sacrilege. So please keep on doing what you have been doing.
I'm encapsulated by your thoroughness. I'm not skipping a damn thing watching. I watched through your Subnautica playthrough and as soon as I saw you were doing a BG3 playthrough I added it to my must watch list. I enjoy the fact you take the time to read tooltips, item descriptions, books, etc. Thank you
Seeing you take time to loot absolutely everything and even lighting up all the torches made me nostalgic for the early access times haha. Now I breeze through those early parts of the game on my replays but it was so awesome to take it all in for the first time. Now I'm gonna experience it vicariously through you again, great episode as always:)
I'm on my 6th playthrough... and the collector and completionist in me can't help but continue to loot everything not nailed down, and I still light up all the candles and torches I come across lol :D
I'm so glad you're not playing this live. Although the community of BG3 is full of nice people, they have a really bad habit of pushing newcomers into making specific choices in dialogue and encouraging save scumming when you dont get the "ideal" outcome (there is no ideal outcome in any dialogue), which is effectively cheating in this type of game
I kind of hate how so many "lets plays" these days are just stream vods. If I click on "Baldur's Gate III: Blind Playthrough Episode 1" I'm not there for you to talk to twitch chat over cutscenes and never read anything because they will get bored. Thankfully we have people like Mapo.
Just started the series recently but I’m a big fan of all the small monotonous feeling tasks! I don’t want anything edited out!!! I might be an outlier though. But I like seeing other players thought processes around those things, like how do you organize your inventory? I like that!
Personally, I love putting your videos on while I work so I don’t usually notice the run time. As long as you’re enjoying the playthrough, I’m sure we will enjoying watching it (regardless of what is kept/cut).
I spent so long in my playthroughs not only reading item descriptions for either lore or humors sake, but picking out the different foods my camp party would eat for long rest based on flavor instead of just hitting auto select! My Tav ate well (also all the alcohol descriptions are nifty, some funny, some unique hidden alcohols in the world too)
High ground is more than just situational. You always want to attack from high ground if you can. If you attack from high ground you get +2 bonus on your attack roll
Left Click will usually use an item immediately, right click will give you other options. You can throw potions and they will shatter on the ground and affect those in the splash zone. Bear in mind that throwing a potion AT somebody will hurt them because... well... you're throwing a glass bottle at their face.
Your dedication to trying to save that Mindflayer is admirable. And yeah, control effects like grease can make or break fights. Good to keep in mind. Also, there are literally no downsides to using guidance (except it can break concentration of other spells), so having someone with it in the party is always a good idea.
Absolutely! Even if it hurt watching him notice the oil barrel, get excited about it, and then use a bow instead of a firebolt with a character that has firebolt 😅
Really ? I never had any problems with that fights. I exploded the barils, then closed the door to their faces and killed them 1 by one that way. Compared to the rest of the game it was a walk in the park.
@@spamfilter32 Not a brag at all, read the sentence better : I disagree on THIS fight being hard, but what lies further is much harder for me. I started the game recently. After that I got trashed by gnolls, and then randomly jumped into the Underdark with no clue as a DnD noob... (I'm still in it, actually)
Oh my... I'm really glad you figured out how to properly use the controls between episodes in your own time. Spinning your camera around like that is so much smoother.
I could just watch everything, but if I HAD to cut anything then backtracking and inventory management would be a safe bet. Wouldn't cut any exploration though, in case you accidentally bump into new stuff.
I enjoy watching the whole thing, looting and all. It's fun to see you roam around and figure everything out, step by step. I've yet to fully finish this game, but I'm definitely motivated to play it more now that you've started your playthrough. I also have quite a backlog of games I'm trying to get through lol
I'm the same way. I can skip through it if I don't have time and it's not what I want to be watching, but I like hearing him read the descriptions. Never seen anyone else do that!
This is exactly the kind of playthrough I need. I've played the game for over 700 hours, and this level of thoroughness and appreciation is probably the only way I can see anything new ❤
the fact mapo hasn't played this yet is a fantastic surprise, i cant wait to see all the reactions to the sheer amount of content that is in this game. this ones gonna be a ride fellas
I missed Shadowheart lol. Then tried to fight brains by myself and rage quitted. After that I had a great time when I learned what a fucking idiot I am.
My wife did that on her first playthrough. She was almost halfway through Act 2 when I asked her where Gale was and she said "Who's Gale?" LOL Luckily she could still fast travel back to the Act 1 map and pull him out. She didn't bother touching the portal and would have walked away forever. 😂
28:22 No you don't. Read the cunning actions description. It's a bonus action meaning Rogue can combine them in one round like disengage+dash or dash then attack in the same round.
I love watching you explore and read content! That is literally what sets you apart from alot of the other gamers that I have watched play. It’s great to see how others react to objects and narratives in game and responses to bad rolls!
I am glad you are exploring everything before you venture into new areas as there is so much to do in BG3 it's easy to miss things. Use jump more. Because you took all the undead's weapons before they came to life, they were easier to kill.
I enjoy watching the looting bits but you do what feels comfortable for you Mapo. You could go a similar direction as driving in Cyberpunk and loot while Mapo 2 reads us some lore but I know that also adds editing time.
I like how you are playing. I also enjoy seeing what lute you get verses what I get in my play throughs. I read and hoard everything too, so, I like the pace and style you play with. It makes me smile when you figure something out after trial and error. I feel more normal when you do things I did in my play throughs, as in "mistakes." Plus, seeing you play alone gives me a little courage to try a solo play through. I have only played with friends so, it is a bit intimidating going about it alone to me. Keep up the good work. 👏
I LOVE that you go through and read the finer details!! I do not 💀 so I love watching you get deeply immersed because then I in turn learn things I’m too inpatient to learn on my own 🤣🤣
I'd say this format is nice, I think it resonates with everybody's first goes. Just having regular camp visits and such would probably be really nice to inventory manage (and just place brief cuts) if that helps.
Don't worry about looting too much. The more you go, the less you will want to check every crate either way and its only episode 2. And I loooove seeing you read books and gain knowledge about game world + many books have hints and may be even quest related
lol what are you talking about? I'm on my 4th playthrough and I still loot every single box and crate and collect and read every text. In fact I think I get slower each time as I try come up with new interesting ways to fight and use items.
1:12:57 That face expression of yours summarizes what this game does to players. I LOVE the way you are playing it taking your time. I would just advice: save the game more, just in case the game crashes, or you getting a game over. That way you don't have to redo everything again. Do not trust autosave. They are not as frequent.
So if you haven't found this out you can talk to NPCs as any companion just not to other companions. The reason you could talk to Shadowheart on the ship was because she wasn't a companion yet.
You're actually the only playthrough I enjoy listening to the "boring" parts with- I enjoy hearing your thoughts! If you choose to omit the tedious tasks though I get that, it will be fun either way
I gotta be honest the ONE thing I'm bad about reading in this game is the item descriptions, so I'm really glad you are reading most of them. They are so well done!!
Monk fists do not count as "weapon attacks" for purposes of things that give bonus' to weapon attacks. So, the Gloves of power will not impart their power to your monk attacks. They will to Astarion's attacks, and he also benefits from the +1 to Sleight of hand that your monk won't really.
I totally feel you about figuring out the best way to edit. I’ve played 1.2K hours of this game, and have watched SEVERAL complete playthroughs and would say, personally I love seeing you play it all and taking your time through it. Definitely think most books are optional reads (and you’ll get multiple copies of them too); the game is good about pointing out important things so I think you’ll get in a grove sooner than later! Love watching your let’s play, and hope you keep enjoying it🎉
So excited for this! I’ve gotten into BG3 a little late so I’m glad to find other people still experiencing the game for the first time, it’s huge but so fun to play through. Definitely make the choices you think are best and play how you like!
Personally i would love to see more baldur's gate, I love watching you immerse yourself with the world. Tip: if anyone picks up a key anyone in the party can use it
I haven't played this game, actually I'm playing OSRS and having you on half my monitor and I love it. You play as you wish, you seem to like the exploring and to try out stuff just because you can and that is exactly what people like me want from a playthrough. There's no such thing as "boring parts" to skip over. (except possibly inventory shuffling)
After I realized how abundant camp supplies are and that there are very rarely any time sensitive segments, I started long resting in this game after almost every single encounter. That's probably going a little overboard, but you'd be surprised at how often you get new camp cutscenes during some parts of the game. Sometimes it is even worth long resting multiple times in a row (i think you can do partial rests to advance scenes without using supplies as well) because camp cutscenes can get 'queued' iirc.
Doesn't time pass while you long rest ? I read there was a risk the druids would start their ritual if I long rested too much so I am avoiding that, but if you can long rest that often, then ...
@@tarukaja8 As far as I understand, there are certain specific segments of the game where long resting can trigger changes in the world (including the grove being locked down). I'm not sure exactly what you have to do for the grove to get locked down but I will say that it has never happened to me and I have gone through act 1 half a dozen times at this point, almost always resting about a dozen times between emerald grove and the goblin camp. I think the general suggestion is that if the time sensitive thing is literally staring you in the face (like a certain cave in later- i wont spoil but i did fuck that one up by resting at the wrong time my first time through), DONT REST, but if you are just exploring the world you can rest as often as possible, even if there is supposedly something time sensitive happening in the story. Hopefully this is helpful. As I said I rest after almost every significant fight usually and i dont have any issues with time sensitive quests.
@@insideoutghost I can literally think of like only 3 times in the entire when there are time sensitive quests and it pretty much advertises it LOUDLY through NPC and companion dialogue.
Love the playthrough and so interested to see all your choices moving forward. For me, i'd love to see all you do ingame without editing, but then again im not part of the Tik-Tok-lack-of-attention population 🤤
I personally like watching all the 'looting' parts just as much as the battles/cutscenes. Maybe that changes later in the playthrough like you said (cutting out stuff that's just plain repetitive and you experienced before) but I feel like watching you go through the games' most "boring" stuff gives just as much of an insight on how you are learning and connecting to the world and mechanics of it, which is what I like the most in all your playthroughs!
Not finished with the episode yet, but just wanted to say as someone currently playing this game for the first time, it's overwhelming at times. It's an absolutely massive world with almost countless possibilities and I am adoring it, but it's very long and there's a lot to learn, so don't worry if it takes a while to understand and get into the swing of things. I don't mind whatever you leave in, but also wouldn't be disappointed if you cut down on inventory management just because I've spent a lot of time doing that myself too, so it isn't the most exciting, lol. But again, it wouldn't bother me if you left it in. A lot of times I watch/listen while working out or cooking or cleaning so it's no biggie.
I love your slow pace because while I love this game, I only played several hours into Act 1 before life happened and I got distracted away. At your current rate, I should be able to watch several episodes before I feel I need to stop to avoid getting spoiled. Loving your playthgough far and, and amazed at the various things that can be done, or missed, or done in different orders that affect the feel of the game, even this early on!
I personally would love to see everything since games like this are about the journey and the adventure you make. Love the content, great quality as always
Please don't listen to anyone ordering you to "do this, play this way, choose this option!" BG3 players think they're being helpful but really they are ruining everyone's first BG experience by pushing their playstyle on others
I enjoy watching all this stuff, other than the books but I don’t mind skipping that bit on my own, especially since then I can change my mind and watch you read the ones that are more interesting to me. I vote keep it in!
Excellent episode, thoroughly enjoying it. I for one don't mind you showing everything reading, leveling and inventory management included! It would be nice to see your thought process on how you level and build you party with abilities and equipment you use for them.
Honestly, I enjoy your pace. Read and loot what you feel like, I think your viewers will understand. I am a loot and lore goblin myself. It is refreshing to watch someone who likes to do that too have a first time experience, without being a DND player beforehand. Tip from a fellow bioware fan; Something to be mindful of, when choosing what to say, is that you don't get to ask questions seperately first before making a response. Both Mass Effect and Dragon Age lets you investigate on the left side, and finalize dialogue on the right. Here the conversation is set to branch as naturally as Larian could make, so you might insult someone with a question or you might not get the villian to monologue about how he planned to kill you. Always choose what you want to say the most first. Also; you can save almost ALWAYS, so like mid-combat, mid-conversation, etc. Although you play a true DND experience (I love it), you might get curious or make an error.
Dropping into the hole by accident, getting thrown instantly into combat and then getting stuck burning in the doorway 😂 Usually, you want the enemies to be in that situation, not the other way around )))
Show me everything, some of the most minor details end up being massive down the line... A butterfly rolls a dice and a fireball detonates half a world away.
Playing Shadow of the Erdtree and Baldurs gate right now too so these are cool videos to watch 👍 hoping you keep all the small trivial investigating in future videos. You might never know what you’ll miss
Some small tips: monks can use certain weapons as a main attack and still gain unarmed strike as a bonus action (If you have a proficiency with using that weapon). 🙂 You can also use ranged weapons, every class can use simple light crossbow, f.e. Even if you don't have proficiency, u can still use any weapon you want, it'll just be less effective, that's all. The same cannot be said about armor - using armor that you're not proficient in is generally a bad idea, there are many disadvantages. Anyway - I like your game style and can't wait for the next episode!
I think it is for the first time i saw someone actually attempt to heal that "certain dying NPC". Love to see something new even after my 6th run trough the game. As for your "genuine" question: Keep exploring as much as you can, this game has a great way of rewarding you for that, and honestly I've been waiting so long to see your run trough this adventure. You have a interesting take on your play-troughs, with an emphasis on curiosity, and that is one of the reasons i subscribed ever since I've seen you go trough the Dragon Age and Mass Effect games. (some of my favourites until BG3) Later edit and to possible spoiler for other people: Try to cut as less as possible of your recordings please :) As for the button, it just deactivated the wall traps which could have resulted in a TPK at this level ;) nice one there Maco

Take your time bro, I found the game pretty overwhelming myself but once you get used to it, it's just so much fun.
Hey take your time. The first playthrough is the best
“I can read everyone’s underwear. Don’t know why I didn’t check that earlier.” This is the kind of hard-hitting gamer journalism I’m here for
the fact that Larian took the time to write flavor text for all of the companions' underwear is such a wonderful thing... it's all the little details that make this game such an immersive, rich gaming experience
THIS is what makes watching Mapo’s play throughs so unique!!
It's a good idea to visit camp regularly. It's this game's version of the Normandy or the camp in Origins. It's where you can develop relationships with companions. Also some story beats/cutscenes are only triggered by long resting and can potentially be missed.
Man is curious enough to try to heal a fucking squid than touch a magic sigil 😂😂😂
in my first BG3 game I was afraid to touch the magic sigil too. as a result my monk needs to do his playthrough without Gale.
@@Rynchor Yeah, I don't really count that as dialogue because it ends after one line, but it is funny. 😂
The DM just killed that mindflayer cause they were NOT trying to have the party die this early
I was worried for a second that you were going to miss Gale. Alistair and Anders get stuck in a blender.
I missed him for a long time. Had to go back to get him near act 2 after realizing there was another companion
Sneak Attack is a weird mechanic to wrap your head around for newcommers. You missed the tooltip at 1:02:11, so here: As a Rogue, Astarion's main focus should be to make Sneak Attacks every turn. To do that he NEEDS ONE OF TWO THINGS:
- Either have a friend to the party within 5feet of the target
- OR (and the OR is very important here) have advantage on the attack.
@@zarasha8220 I had Steeped in Bliss with me for freaking ages before I realised it also buffs nearby enemies... Angry...
1:05:28 Tutorial by gameplay ;)
2:22:00 Answering actual question.
Mapo breaking the “why are you still here” cycle… nature is healing
What's the "why are you still here" cycle?
@@colindavey4075 Dragon Age Origins, that's a question for Morrigan that drops her approval by a lot. Mapo asked it like 2 times 😁
@@colindavey4075 It was a really funny moment. He asked her "why are you still here" (-10 approval) and his reaction was basically that surely we can fix this so he asked it again and got another -10 approval 😂
@@colindavey4075 watch his series on Dragon Age Origins :) it's so good !
The best thing about this game is if you ever find yourself asking "Can I ....?" then the answer is nearly always "yes you can" :)
I am always amazed at how this game allows/plans for how good, bad, smart, dumb, and just plain crazy that the player can be.

The first time I tried consuming a tadpole, I tried to do it secretly, away from my party lest they know I was drawn to its power.
Cuts to. A cut scene of me holding the tadpole out to inspect while the party gathers round to warn me of the dangers.
I felt like "c'mon Larian, you couldn't predict that!?"
But the game is hands down simply amazing and the things you can do are almost limitless, but with some inevitable exceptions.
Love to see mapo oblivious of how he saved his on life. When landed that nat 1 disarming the trap he triggered but the game started the turn base mode so he have time to react before the trap activates, the button he pressed deactivated the trapped even without having a clue of what he was doing.
i went through all 5 stages of grief between the moment he failed that check and when he pressed the button.

With a game like BG3, I think you should show every beautiful seconds of it
I'm so glad you're not playing this live.
39:04 This portal takes you to Sellia Crystal Tunnel in Elden Ring, of course. The PTSD is real.
Trying to feed an apple to a mindflayer feels like a scene of a toddler offering their tasty snack to the family dog.
Idk about anyone else but I come here for the most thorough and detailed playthroughs on UA-cam. That’s what makes you unique Mapo.
Couldn't wait for the next episodes in this playthrough so joined the patreon. Well worth it anyway with the content you provide. Thanks @mapocolops
You actually did really well with the fight in the overgrown ruins. most people who take the entrance you took, get TPK'd
Absolutely! Even if it hurt watching him notice the oil barrel, get excited about it, and then use a bow instead of a firebolt with a character that has firebolt 😅
@xXSonOvPerditionXx yep, one of the few times using the firebolt would have been the right choice for Astarion.
Really ? I never had any problems with that fights. I exploded the barils, then closed the door to their faces and killed them 1 by one that way. Compared to the rest of the game it was a walk in the park.
@@tarukaja8 congrats on your not so humble brag.
I personally don’t mind watching the looting - but I can’t speak for others.
I'm the same way. I can skip through it if I don't have time and it's not what I want to be watching, but I like hearing him read the descriptions. Never seen anyone else do that!
@@Safiyahalishah I hate that more people don’t read item descriptions. A lot of people miss out from not reading them.
"Shadowhart can't do much in this situation."
Pretty much the whole game my first play through.
Great to see you idin't miss, Gale, definitely didn't happen to me first time...
I missed Shadowheart lol. Then tried to fight brains by myself and rage quitted. After that I had a great time when I learned what a fucking idiot I am.
My wife did that on her first playthrough. She was almost halfway through Act 2 when I asked her where Gale was and she said "Who's Gale?" LOL
Luckily she could still fast travel back to the Act 1 map and pull him out.
I love gale..my nerdy sweet nerdy wizard with a complicated past :)
The callback to your mis-step with morrigan is killing me lmao
I LOVE that you go through and read the finer details!! I do not 💀 so I love watching you get deeply immersed because then I in turn learn things I’m too inpatient to learn on my own 🤣🤣
I always appreciate your sense of what to edit out and what to keep in, so I vote for "use your judgement cause your judgement is good"!
I genuinely want to see as much as possible, deep lore and exploration are my favourite parts about video games.
@@BusinessSkrub Yeah, it's not a true 100% playthrough if you don't pick up every single item in existence^^
lol what are you talking about? I'm on my 4th playthrough and I still loot every single box and crate and collect and read every text. In fact I think I get slower each time as I try come up with new interesting ways to fight and use items.
@@BusinessSkrub exactly! you guys get me lol
a read-along video of a bunch of these books would be perfect relaxing content. youve got a great book reading voice
Look at our Mapo, all trained up on the ways of approval raising, that's character growth right there
1:12:57 That face expression of yours summarizes what this game does to players. I LOVE the way you are playing it taking your time.
I would just advice: save the game more, just in case the game crashes, or you getting a game over.
That way you don't have to redo everything again. Do not trust autosave. They are not as frequent.
Yeah, the lack of saving kinda makes me nervous lol.
So if you haven't found this out you can talk to NPCs as any companion just not to other companions. The reason you could talk to Shadowheart on the ship was because she wasn't a companion yet.
Loving watching someone getting into this game as someone who's beaten it 7 times. This game is the GOAT!
Seeing all the nuance of exploring the lore and environs you do is why I watch. Take your time with this game and enjoy! I know we will.
I absolutely love how thoroughly you play this. Please, take your time...
Watching you learn this game in real time takes me back to my first playthrough! Great series so far.
So excited for this let’s play series
Im new here and I love this series! I appreciate the thorough playthrough keep it up!
"why are you still here?" -- aah the very memorable lesson learned
I personally would love to see everything since games like this are about the journey and the adventure you make. Love the content, great quality as always
Please don't listen to anyone ordering you to "do this, play this way, choose this option!" BG3 players think they're being helpful but really they are ruining everyone's first BG experience by pushing their playstyle on others
The only advice I give is "If you have an idea try it and see if it works" Larian thought of so much it blows my mind.
Second natural 1 in this playthrough, but a disaster well avoided.
I love everything about this game..i enjoy watching all trade,looting..etc...
Mapo referring to Dragon age Origins is amazingly funny 🤣 love it!
Just subbed! I’m on my first playthrough and just entered act 3. Very excited to watch your journey
This game is phenomenal. It took me some time to learn all the controls and nuances but it is worth the learning curve!
I enjoy watching all this stuff, other than the books but I don’t mind skipping that bit on my own, especially since then I can change my mind and watch you read the ones that are more interesting to me. I vote keep it in!
I want to see it all, every lore info , every loot and all that you do. That is how I felt through all your Dragon Ages and this one also.
Tip from a fellow bioware fan;
Something to be mindful of, when choosing what to say, is that you don't get to ask questions seperately first before making a response.
Super fun episode! I strongly recommend using Astarion to lockpick locks/disarm traps, and I would equip him with 2 daggers or 2 shortswords..
(some of my favourites until BG3)
Later edit and to possible spoiler for other people:
